Physical structure plays in important role in handball as well in terms of performance just like in all other sports. In handball, grip strength is important in catching and throwing the ball. In handball, hand grip strength affects the performance in terms of controlling the ball both in defense and attack, gripping it with the hand and being able to do manage strong goal kicks. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between the anthropometric parameters and hand grip strength of female handball players aged 12-14. A total of 58 female athletes (age average: 12.80±1.31 years) who play handball in the various sports clubs in the cities of Ankara and Kastamonu. The height and body weight of the athletes were measured, their Body Mass Index (BMI) was calculated and right and left hand finger and hand lengths; arm, forearm, leg and thigh lengths; wrist, elbow, waist, hip, knee and ankle girth and hand grip strength were measured. In order to analyze the correlation between the data, the Pearson Correlation test was used. As for the statistical significance levels, (p<0.01, p<0.05) values were taken into consideration. The SPSS 20 software was in the statistical calculation of the data. A positive and significant relationship was determined between the athletes' right hand grip strength and age, height, body weight, right hands' 5 fingers, full arm, front arm and all leg lengths, elbow, hip, calf, knees and hand and between the left hand grip strength and age, height, body weight, left hand's 5 fingers, full arm, front arm and all leg lengths, elbow, hip, wrist and ankle (p<0,01; p<0,05). As a result, it was seen in the study that in handball in which throws and catches are important, there is a positive and high relationship between the female athletes' hand grip strength and their finger lengths, arm and leg lengths, calf, elbow and wrist girth in this age group.
