We report on the first measurement of the elemental fragmentation cross sections (EFCSs) of $^{29-33}\mathrm{Si}$ on a carbon target at $\sim$230~MeV/nucleon. The experimental data covering charge changes of $\Delta Z$ = 1-4 are reproduced well by the isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics (IQMD) coupled with the evaporation GEMINI (IQMD+GEMINI) model. We further explore the mechanisms underlying the single-proton removal reaction in this model framework. We conclude that the cross sections from direct proton knockout exhibit a overall weak dependence on the mass number of $\mathrm{Si}$ projectiles. The proton evaporation induced after the projectile excitation significantly affects the cross sections for neutron-deficient $\mathrm{Si}$ isotopes, while neutron evaporation plays a crucial role in the reactions of neutron-rich $\mathrm{Si}$ isotopes. We propose an ultraviolet completion model for pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone dark matter with a hidden $\mathrm{U}(1)$ gauge symmetry. Compared to previous studies, this setup is simpler, introducing less interactions. Dark matter scattering off nucleons is highly suppressed by the ultraviolet scale and direct detection constraints can be easily evaded. The kinetic mixing between the hidden $\mathrm{U}(1)$ and the $\mathrm{U}(1)_\mathrm{Y}$ gauge fields would lead to dark matter decays. We find that the current bound on the dark matter lifetime implies that the ultraviolet scale should be higher than $10^{10}~\mathrm{GeV}$. We analytically study the ground-state phase diagrams of ultracold bosons with various values of the effective magnetic quantum number $m$ in a state-dependent hexagonal optical lattice by using the generalized effective-potential Landau theory, where the site-offset energy between the two triangular sublattice A and B is tunable. Our analytical calculations of third-order corrections are in reasonably good agreement with the previous cluster Gutzwiller calculations. Furthermore, we reveal the reason why the regions of the Mott lobes $(n,n)$ in phase diagrams for $m=0.02$ are unexpectedly expanded with increasing $J/U$ in deep lattice.

Optical clock networks play important roles in various fields, such as precise navigation, redefinition of "second" unit, and gravitational tests. To establish a global-scale optical clock network, it is essential to disseminate time and frequency with a stability of $10^{-19}$ over a long-distance free-space link. However, such attempts were limited to dozens of kilometers in mirror-folded configuration. Here, we take a crucial step toward future satellite-based time-frequency disseminations. By developing the key technologies, including high-power frequency combs, high-stability and high-efficiency optical transceiver systems, and efficient linear optical sampling, we demonstrate free-space time-frequency dissemination over two independent links with femtosecond time deviation, $3\times10^{-19}$ at 10,000 s residual instability and $1.6\times10^{-20}\pm 4.3\times10^{-19}$ offset. This level of the stability retains for an increased channel loss up to 89 dB. With the development of radioactive beam facilities, studies concerning the shell evolution of unstable nuclei have recently gained prominence. Intruder components, particularly s-wave intrusion, in the low-lying states of light neutron-rich nuclei near N=8 are of importance in the study of shell evolution. The use of single-nucleon transfer reactions in inverse kinematics has been a sensitive tool that can be used to quantitatively investigate the single-particle orbital component of selectively populated states. The spin-parity, spectroscopic factor (or single-particle strength), and effective single-particle energy can all be extracted from such reactions. These observables are often useful to explain the nature of shell evolution, and to constrain, check, and test the parameters used in nuclear structure models. In this article, the experimental studies of the intruder components in low-lying states of neutron-rich nuclei of He, Li, Be, B, and C isotopes using various single-nucleon transfer reactions are reviewed. The focus is laid on the precise determination of the intruder s-wave strength in low-lying states.

We study a dark matter model constructed by extending the standard model with an inert $\mathrm{SU}(2)_\mathrm{L}$ sextuplet scalar of hypercharge 1/2. The sextuplet components are split by the quartic couplings between the sextuplet and the Higgs doublet after electroweak symmetry breaking, resulting in a dark sector with one triply charged, two doubly charged, two singly charged, and two neutral scalars. The lighter neutral scalar boson acts as a dark matter particle. We investigate the constraints on this model from the $\text{monojet} + /\!\!\!\!E_\mathrm{T}$ and $\text{soft-dilepton} + \text{jets} + /\!\!\!\!E_\mathrm{T}$ searches at the 13 TeV Large Hadron Collider, as well as from the current electroweak precision test. Furthermore, we estimate the projected sensitivities of a 100 TeV $pp$ collider and of a future $e^+e^-$ collider, and find that such future projects could probe TeV mass scales. Nonetheless, such mass scales only correspond to a subdominant component of the observed relic abundance if the dark matter particles solely originate from thermal production., Comment: 37 pages, 11 figures

Fractals are fascinating structures, not only for their aesthetic appeal, but also because they allow for the investigation of physical properties in non-integer dimensions. In these unconventional systems, a myriad of intrinsic features might come into play, such as the fractal dimension, the spectral dimension, or the fractal geometry. Despite abundant theoretical and numerical studies, experiments in fractal networks remain elusive. Here, we experimentally investigate quantum transport in fractal networks by performing continuous-time quantum walks in fractal photonic lattices with incremental propagation lengths. Photons act as the walkers and evolve in the lattices after being injected into one initial site. We unveil the transport properties through the photon evolution pattern at different propagation lengths and the analysis of the variance and the P'olya number, which are calculated based on the probability distribution of the patterns. Contrarily to classical fractals, we observe anomalous transport governed solely by the fractal dimension. In addition, the critical point at which there is a transition from normal to anomalous transport is highly dependent on the fractal geometry. Our experiment allows the verification of physical laws in a quantitative manner and reveals the transport dynamics with unprecedented detail, thus opening a path to the understanding of more complex quantum phenomena governed by fractality., Comment: 45 pages, 21 figures, comments welcome!

We investigate a dark matter model involving an inert $\mathrm{SU}(2)_\mathrm{L}$ quadruplet scalar with hypercharge 1/2. Band topology, or global wave-function structure that enforces novel properties in the bulk and on the surface of crystalline materials, is currently under intense investigations for both fundamental interest and its technological promises. While band crossing of non-trivial topological nature was first studied in three dimensions for electrons, the underlying physical idea is not restricted to fermionic excitations. In fact, experiments have confirmed the possibility to have topological band crossing of electromagnetic waves in artificial structures. Fundamental bosonic excitations in real crystals, however, have not been observed to exhibit the counterpart under ambient pressure and magnetic field, where the difficulty is in part because natural materials cannot be precisely engineered like artificial structures. Here, we use inelastic neutron scattering to reveal the presence of topological spin excitations (magnons) in a three-dimensional antiferromagnet, Cu3TeO6, which features a unique lattice of magnetic spin-1/2 Cu2+ ions. Beyond previous understanding, we find that the material's spin lattice possesses a variety of exchange interactions, with the interaction between the ninth-nearest neighbours being as strong as that between the nearest neighbours. Although theoretical analysis indicates that the presence of topological magnon band crossing is independent of model details, Cu3TeO6 turns out to be highly favourable for the experimental observation, as its optical magnons are spectrally sharp and intense due to the highly interconnected spin network and the large magnetic cell. The observed magnon band crossing generally has the form of a special type of Z2-topological nodal lines that are yet to be found in fermion systems, rendering magnon systems a fertile ground for exploring novel band topology., Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, plus methods and supplemental figures. Relativistic corrections to the reaction kinematic parameters were made for elastic scattering of \nuc{6}{Li}, \nuc{12}{C} and \nuc{40}{Ar} from \nuc{40}{Ca}, \nuc{90}{Zr}, and \nuc{208}{Pb} targets at incident energies between 20 and 100 MeV/nucleon. Results of optical model calculations show that the effects of such corrections are important in describing the angular distributions of elastic scattering cross sections for heavy ion scattering at incident energies as low as around 40 MeV/nucleon. The effects on the total reaction cross sections on the other hand, were found to be small within the energy range studied when the optical model potential is fixed., Comment: Submitted to 'Chinese Physics C'
