An editorial is presented on experience of Carl Anhaeusser,Professor Emeritus in the School of Geoscience at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg on changes in the science of Geology. He shares his views on his studies related to Barberton greenstone belt developing the ideas of stratigraph and the adjacent granitic terrane; his early experience on studying on rock age, X-ray analysis and influence of writings of European geologists on his research work.

The article discusses a study on the palynological samples collected as part of Alaska Department of Natural Resources' Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) and Alaska Division of Oil & Gas Cook Inlet Basin Analysis program. The samples were collected in the Tyonek, Kenai and Seldovia quadrangles from September 2006 to July 2010. The program focuses on evaluating the stratigraphic trap potential and reservoir quality of Cenozoic strata in Upper Cook and Mesozoic strata.

The article discusses the prospective of marine geosciences (MG). It states that the main objective of MG is to provide three dimensional information of shallow surfaces of the geological water bodies and tectono stratigraphic archaeology of the earth surface. It further informs about Basin analysis research which focuses on the Atlantic Oceanic region, multidisciplinary Seabed mapping and modeling along with the assessment of hydrocarbon resources and climate change.
