The medium-temperature $T$ dependence of the jet transport coefficient $\hat q$ was studied via the nuclear modification factor $R_{AA}(p_{\rm T})$ and elliptical flow parameter $v_2(p_{\rm T})$ for large transverse momentum $p_{\rm T}$ hadrons in high-energy nucleus-nucleus collisions. Within a next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD parton model for hard scatterings with modified fragmentation functions due to jet quenching controlled by $\hat q$, we check the suppression and azimuthal anisotropy for large $p_{\rm T}$ hadrons, and extract $\hat q$ by global fits to $R_{AA}(p_{\rm T})$ and $v_2(p_{\rm T})$ data in A + A collisions at RHIC and LHC, respectively. The numerical results from the best fits show that $\hat q/T^3$ goes down with local medium temperature $T$ in the parton jet trajectory. Compared with the case of a constant $\hat{q}/T^3$, the going-down $T$ dependence of $\hat{q}/T^3$ makes a hard parton jet to lose more energy near $T_{\rm c}$ and therefore strengthens the azimuthal anisotropy for large $p_{\rm T}$ hadrons. As a result, $v_2(p_{\rm T})$ for large $p_{\rm T}$ hadrons was enhanced by approximately 10% to better fit the data at RHIC/LHC. Considering the first-order phase transition from QGP to the hadron phase and the additional energy loss in the hadron phase, $v_2(p_{\rm T})$ is again enhanced by 5%-10% at RHIC/LHC.

The energy-energy correlator (EEC) is considered as a powerful probe of jet substructure, especially a better probe of certain soft and collinear features. To study the utility of such observable for quark vs gluon discrimination of jet quenching phenomenon, this work first predicts the energy-energy correlators of inclusive jets in central~($0-10\%$) Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{\rm s}$ = 5.02 TeV for jet transverse momentum interval $40 - 60$ GeV. The Pb+Pb EEC distribution shifts to larger $R_{\rm L}$ and smaller $R_{\rm L}$ simultaneously. The shift towards larger $R_{\rm L}$ is attributed to the energy loss effect when the jet evolves in the hot/dense medium and the shift towards smaller $R_{\rm L}$ is due to the selection bias effects. Moreover, we find the EEC distribution for pure quark jets in nucleus-nucleus (A+A) collisions will only be suffering even stronger enhancement at $R_{\rm L}> 0.2$, and the EEC distribution for pure gluon jets in A+A collisions will be observed shifting toward smaller and larger $R_{\rm L}$ at the same time. The jet quenching patterns (A+A/p+p) of the quark jets and the gluon jets can then be separated. We also find that the differences are mainly determined by the initial EEC distribution in p+p, and are not affected much by the energy loss differences between quark and gluon. Inclusive jets are dominated by gluon jets, and photon-tagged jets are used to represent quark jets, we propose this double-ratio measurement to demonstrate the quark/gluon discrimination for the jet quenching phenomenon of jet substructures., Comment: 9 pages, 8 figures

We present a unique signal of jet-induced medium excitations: the enhancement of baryon-to-meson ratios around the quenched jets.To illustrate this, we study jet-particle correlations and the distributions of jet-induced identified particles with respect to the jet direction in Pb+Pb collisions at the LHC via a multi-phase transport model.We find a strong enhancement of baryon-to-meson ratios for associated particles at intermediate transverse momentum around the triggered jets in Pb+Pb collisions relative to p+p collisions, due to the coalescence of jet-excited medium partons.Since the lost energy from jets can diffuse to large angles, such baryon-to-meson-ratio enhancement is more pronounced for larger relative distance from the jet axis.We argue that the experimental confirmation of the enhancement of jet-induced baryon-to-meson ratios around the jets will provide an unambiguous evidence for the medium response to jet quenching in heavy-ion collisions., Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures

Jet-medium interaction involves two important effects: jet energy loss and medium response. The search for jet-induced medium excitations is one of the hot topics in jet quenching study in relativistic nuclear collisions. In this work, we perform a systematic study on how the lost energy from hard jets evolves with the bulk medium and redistributes in the final state of heavy-ion collisions via a multi-phase transport model. In particular, the ($\Delta \eta, \Delta \phi$) distribution of charged particles with respect to the jet axis and jet shape function are studied for various Pb+Pb collision centralities and for different transverse momentum intervals of charged particles. Our numerical result shows a strong enhancement of soft particles at large angles for Pb+Pb collisions relative to p+p collisions at the LHC, qualitatively consistent with recent CMS data. This indicates that a significant fraction of the lost energy from hard jets is carried by soft particles at large angles away from the jet axis., Comment: 10 pages, 9 figures

Averaged jet charge characterizes the electric charge for the initiating parton, and provides a powerfull tool to distinguish quark jets from gluon jets. In this paper, we give the first prediction for the medium modification of averaged jet charge in heavy-ion collision at the LHC, where jet productions in p+p collisions are simulated by PYTHIA6, and parton energy loss in QGP are calculated with two Monte Carlo models of jet quenching: PYQUEN and JEWEL. We found that the distribution of averaged jet charge is significantly suppressed by initial state isospin effects due to the participants of neutrons with zero electric charge during nuclear collisions. Considerable enhancement of averaged jet charge in central Pb+Pb collisions relative to peripheral collisions is observed, since jet quenching effect is more pronounced in central collisions. Distinct feature of averaged jet charge between quark and gluon jets, together with the sensitivity of medium modifications on jet charge to flavor dependence of parton energy loss, could be very useful to discriminate the energy loss pattern between quark and gluon jets in heavy-ion collisions., Comment: 6 pages, 9 figures

In this work, we pave the way to calculate the productions of $\omega$ and $K^0_{\rm S}$ mesons at large $p_T$ in p+p and A+A collisions at the RHIC and the LHC. The $\omega$ meson fragmentation functions (FFs) in vacuum at next-to-leading order (NLO) are obtained by evolving NLO DGLAP evolution equations with rescaled $\omega$ FFs at initial scale $Q_0^2=1.5$ GeV$^2$ from a broken SU(3) model, and the $K^0_{\rm S}$ FFs in vacuum are taken from AKK08 parametrization directly. Within the framework of the NLO pQCD improved parton model, we make good descriptions of the experimental data on $\omega$ and $K^0_{\rm S}$ in p+p both at the RHIC and the LHC. With the higher-twist approach to take into account the jet quenching effect by medium modified FFs, the nuclear modification factors for $\omega$ meson and $K^0_{\rm S}$ meson at the RHIC and the LHC are presented with different sets of jet transport coefficient $\hat{q}_0$. Then we make a global extraction of $\hat{q}_0$ at the RHIC and the LHC by confronting our model calculations with all available data on 6 identified mesons: $\pi^0$, $\eta$, $\rho^0$, $\phi$, $\omega$, and $K^0_{\rm S}$. The minimum value of the total $\chi^2/d.o.f$ for productions of these mesons gives the best value of $\hat{q}_0=0.5\rm GeV^2/fm$ for Au+Au collisions with $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}=200$ GeV at the RHIC, and $\hat{q}_0=1.2\rm GeV^2/fm$ for Pb+Pb collisions with $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}=2.76$ TeV at the LHC respectively, with the QGP spacetime evolution given by an event-by-event viscous hydrodynamics model IEBE-VISHNU. With these global extracted values of $\hat{q}_0$, the nuclear modification factors of $\pi^0$, $\eta$, $\rho^0$, $\phi$, $\omega$, and $K^0_{\rm S}$ in A+A collisions are presented, and predictions of yield ratios such as $\omega/\pi^0$ and $K^0_{\rm S}/\pi^0$ at large $p_T$ in heavy-ion collisions at the RHIC and the LHC are provided., Comment: 9 pages, 13 figures, 1 table

The non-extensive canonical ensemble theory is reconsidered with the method of Lagrange multipliers by maximizing Tsallis entropy, with the constraint that the normalized term of Tsallis' $q-$average of physical quantities, the sum $\sum p_j^q$, is independent of the probability $p_i$ for Tsallis parameter $q$. The self-referential problem in the deduced probability and thermal quantities in non-extensive statistics is thus avoided, and thermodynamical relationships are obtained in a consistent and natural way. We also extend the study to the non-extensive grand canonical ensemble theory and obtain the $q$-deformed Bose-Einstein distribution as well as the $q$-deformed Fermi-Dirac distribution. The theory is further applied to the generalized Planck law to demonstrate the distinct behaviors of the various generalized $q$-distribution functions discussed in literature., Comment: 14 pages, 2 figures

From the non-extensive statistical mechanics, we investigate the chiral phase transition at finite temperature $T$ and baryon chemical potential $\mu_B$ in the framework of the linear sigma model. The corresponding non-extensive distribution, based on Tsallis' statistics, is characterized by a dimensionless non-extensive parameter, $q$, and the results in the usual Boltzmann-Gibbs case are recovered when $q\to 1$. The thermodynamics of the linear sigma model and its correspodning phase diagram are analysed. At high temperature region, the critical temperature $T_c$ is shown to decrease with increasing $q$ from the phase diagram in the $(T,~\mu)$ plane. However, larger values of $q$ causes the rise of $T_c$ at low temperature but high chemical potential. Moreover, it is found that $\mu$ different from zero corresponds to a first-order phase transition while $\mu=0$ to a crossover one. The critical endpoint (CEP) carries higher chemical potential but lower temperature with $q$ increasing due to the non-extensive effects., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures

Jet charge characterizes the electric charge distribution inside a jet. In this talk we make the first theoretical study of jet charge in high-energy nuclear collisions and calculate numerically the medium alternations of jet charge due to parton energy loss in the quark-gluon plasma. The parton multiple scattering in hot/dense QCD medium is simulated by a modified version of PYQUEN Monte Carlo model with 3+1D ideal hydrodynamical evolution of the fireball. Our preliminary results show that the averaged jet charge is significant modified in A+A collisions relative to that in p+p. The different features of quark jet charge and gluon jet charge in heavy-ion collisions, and the sensitivity of jet charge modifications to flavour dependence of energy loss are observed, which could then be used to discriminate quark and gluon jet as well as their energy loss patterns in heavy-ion collisions., Comment: 4 pages, 6 figures, proceedings for the Hard Probe 2016 parallel talk

The recent measurements of the $B_s$ mass difference $\Delta M_s$ by the CDF and D{\O} collaborations are roughly consistent with the Standard Model predictions, therefore, these measurements will afford an opportunity to constrain new physics scenarios beyond the Standard Model. We consider the impact of the R-parity violating supersymmetry in the $B^0_s-\bar{B}^0_s$ mixing, and use the latest experimental results of $\Delta M_s$ to constrain the size of the R-parity violating tree level couplings in the $B^0_s-\bar{B}^0_s$ mixing. Then, using the constrained R-parity violating parameter space from $\Delta M_s$, we show the R-parity violating effects on the $B_s$ width difference $\Delta\Gamma_{s}$., Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures, to appear in High Energy Physics And Nuclear Physcis

We study the branching ratios, the direct CP asymmetries in $B\to K^{(*)}\bar{K}^{(*)}$ decays and the polarization fractions of $B\to K^{*}\bar{K}^{*}$ decays by employing the QCD factorization in the minimal supersymmetric standard model with R-parity violation. We derive the new upper bounds on the relevant R-parity violating couplings from the latest experimental data of $B\to K^{(*)}\bar{K}^{(*)}$, and some of these constraints are stronger than the existing bounds. Using the constrained parameter spaces, we predict the R-parity violating effects on the other quantities in $B\to K^{(*)}\bar{K}^{(*)}$ decays which have not been measured yet. We find that the R-parity violating effects on the branching ratios and the direct $CP$ asymmetries could be large, nevertheless their effects on the longitudinal polarizations of $B\to K^{*}\bar{K}^{*}$ decays are small.
