High precision spectroscopy of the low-lying dielectronic resonances in fluorine-like nickel ions were determined by employing the merged electron-ion beam at the heavy-ion storage ring CSRm. The measured dielectronic resonances are identified by comparing with the most recent relativistic calculation utilizing the FAC code. The first resonance at about 86 meV due to the dielectronic recombination via (2s2p6[2S1/2]6s)J=1 intermediate state was recognized. The experimental determination of the resonance position at 86 meV reaches an uncertainty of 4 meV, which allows precise determination of the 2s22p5[2P3/2] - 2s2p6[2S1/2] transition energy. The Rydberg binding energy of the 6s electron in the (2s2p6[2S1/2]6s)J=1 state is calculated by the multi-configurational Dirac-HartreeFock and stabilization methods. The determined transition energies are 149.056(4)exp(10)theo and 149.032(4)exp(6)theo, respectively. Moreover, the transition energy has also been calculated by fully relativistic and ab initio approaches. Individual theoretical contributions are evaluated by employing the core-Hartree and Kohn-Sham screening potentials, respectively. High-order QED and correlation effects contribute prominently to the total transition energy. The Gravitational Wave highly energetic Electromagnetic Counterpart All-sky Monitor (GECAM) is dedicated to detecting gravitational wave gamma-ray bursts. It is capable of all-sky monitoring over and discovering gamma-ray bursts and new radiation phenomena. GECAM consists of two microsatellites, each equipped with 8 charged particle detectors (CPDs) and 25 gamma-ray detectors (GRDs). The CPD is used to measure charged particles in the space environment, monitor energy and flow intensity changes, and identify between gamma-ray bursts and space charged particle events in conjunction with GRD. CPD uses plastic scintillator as the sensitive material for detection, silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) array as the optically readable device, and the inlaid Am-241 radioactive source as the onboard calibration means. One month after launching Gravitational wave high-energy Electromagnetic Counterpart All-sky Monitor (GECAM), a bright thermonuclear X-ray burst from 4U~0614+09, was observed on January 24, 2021. We report the time-resolved spectroscopy of the burst and a burst oscillation detection at 413 Hz with a fractional amplitude 3.4\% (rms). This coincides with the burst oscillation previously discovered with \textit{Swift}/BAT \citep{Strohmayer2008}, and therefore confirms the spin frequency of this source. This burst is the brightest one in the normal bursts (except the superburst) ever detected from 4U~0614+09, which leads to an upper limit of distance estimation as 3.1 kpc. The folded light curve during the burst oscillation shows a multi-peak structure, which is the first case observed during a single burst oscillation in nonpulsating sources. The multi-peak profile could be due to additional harmonics of the burst oscillation, which is corresponding to several brighter/fainter spots at the stellar surface.

The Gravitational Wave Burst High-energy Electromagnetic Counterpart All-sky Monitor (GECAM), consists of 2 small satellites that each contain 25 LaBr3 (lanthanum bromide doped with cerium chloride) detectors and 8 plastic scintillator detectors. The detector signals are read out using a silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) array. In this study, an acquisition algorithm for in-orbit real-time SiPM array data is designed and implemented, and the output event packet is defined. Finally, the algorithm's efficacy for event acquisition is verified.

As the main detector of the GECAM satellite, the calibration of the energy response and detection efficiency of the GRD detector is the main content of the ground-based calibration. The calibration goal requires the calibrated energy points to sample the full energy range (8 keV-2 MeV) as much as possible. The low energy band (8-160 keV) is calibrated with the X-ray beam, while the high energy band (>160 keV) with radioactive sources. This article mainly focuses on the calibration of the energy response and detection efficiency in the 8-160 keV with a refined measurement around the absorption edges of the lanthanum bromide crystal. The GRD performances for different crystal types, data acquisition modes, working modes, and incident positions are also analyzed in detail. Background: Each GECAM satellite payload contains 25 gamma-ray detectors (GRDs), which can detect gamma-rays and particles and can roughly localize the Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs). GRD was designed using lanthanum bromide (LaBr3) crystal as the sensitive material with the rear end coupled with silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) array for readout. Purpose: In aerospace engineering design of GRD, there are many key points to be studied. In this paper, we present the specific design scheme of GRD, the assembly and the performance test results of detectors. Methods: Based on Monte Carlo simulation and experimental test results, the specific schematic design and assembling process ofGRDwere optimized. After being fully assembled, theGRDswere conducted performance tests by using radioactive source and also conducted random vibration tests. Result and conclusion: The test results show that all satellite-borne GRDs have energy resolution <16% at 59.5 keV, meeting requirements of satellite in scientific performance. The GECAM mission consists of two identical microsatellites (GECAM-A and GECAM-B). Each satellite is equipped with 25 gamma-ray detectors (GRD) and 8 charged particle detectors (CPD). The main scientific objective of the GECAM mission is to detect gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) associated with the gravitational wave events produced by the merging of binary compact stars. After the launch on Dec. 10, 2020 , we carried out a series of on orbit tests. This paper introduces the test results of the GECAM-B satellite. According to the in-flight performance, the energy band for gamma-ray detection of GECAM-B is from about 7 keV to 3.5 MeV. GECAM-B can achieve prompt localization of GRBs. For the first time, GECAM-B realized a quasi-real-time transmission of trigger information using Beidou-3 RDSS. The discovery of gravitational waves and gamma-ray bursts heralds the era of multi-messenger astronomy. With the adoption of two small satellites to achieve the all-sky monitoring of gamma-ray bursts, the gravitational wave high-energy electromagnetic counterpart all-sky monitor (GECAM) possesses a quasi-real-time early warning ability and plays an important role in positioning the sources of gravitational waves and in subsequent observations.

The Gravitational wave high-energy Electromagnetic Counterpart All-sky Monitor (GECAM) satellite consists of two small satellites. Each GECAM payload contains 25 gamma ray detectors (GRD) and 8 charged particle detectors (CPD). GRD is the main detector which can detect gamma-rays and particles and localize the Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRB),while CPD is used to help GRD to discriminate gamma-ray bursts and charged particle bursts. The GRD makes use of lanthanum bromide (LaBr3) crystal readout by SiPM. As the all available SiPM devices belong to commercial grade, quality assurance tests need to be performed in accordance with the aerospace specifications. In this paper, we present the results of quality assurance tests, especially a detailed mechanism analysis of failed devices during the development of GECAM. This paper also summarizes the application experience of commercial-grade SiPM devices in aerospace payloads, and provides suggestions for forthcoming SiPM space applications., Comment: 13 pages, 23 figures

Using the multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock and the relativistic configuration interaction methods, a consistent set of transition energies and radiative transition data for the main states of the $2s^2 2p^4$, $2s 2p^5$, $2p^6$, $2s^2 2p^3 3s$, $2s^2 2p^3 3p$, $2s^2 2p^3 3d$, $2s 2p^4 3s$, $2s 2p^4 3p$, and $2s 2p^4 3d$ configurations in O-like Ions between Ar XI ($Z = 18$) and Cr XVII ($Z = 24$) is provided. Our data set is compared with the NIST compiled values and previous calculations. The data are accurate enough for identification and deblending of new emission lines from hot astrophysical and laboratory plasmas. The amount of data of high accuracy is significantly increased for the $n = 3$ states of several O-like ions, where experimental data are very scarce.

Employing two state-of-the-art methods, multiconfiguration Dirac--Hartree--Fock and second-order many-body perturbation theory, highly accurate calculations are performed for the lowest 272 fine-structure levels arising from the $2s^{2} 2p^{3}$, $2s 2p^{4}$, $2p^{5}$, $2s^{2} 2p^{2} 3l$~($l=s,p,d$), $2s 2p^{3}3l$ ($l=s,p,d$), and $2p^{4} 3l$ ($l=s,p,d$) configurations in nitrogen-like Ge XXVI. Complete and consistent atomic data, including excitation energies, lifetimes, wavelengths, hyperfine structures, Land\'e $g_{J}$-factors, and E1, E2, M1, M2 line strengths, oscillator strengths, and transition rates among these 272 levels are provided. Comparisons are made between the present two data sets, as well as with other available experimental and theoretical values. The present data are accurate enough for identification and deblending of emission lines involving the $n=3$ levels, and are also useful for modeling and diagnosing fusion plasmas.

New allotropes of two-dimensional (2D) GaP and InP binary compounds were predicted from the structural optimization and dynamical stability analysis in the framework of the density functional calculations. These stabilized GaP and InP monolayers possess unique high buckled orthorhombic lattices symmetry with their cohesive energies of ~0.14 and ~0.17 eV/pair lower than those of 2D low buckled honeycomb GaP and InP binary compounds, demonstrating that these newly predicted 2D GaP and InP binary compounds are energetically preferential. More interesting, their energy band gaps are even ~ 0.52 eV (for GaP) and ~1.49 eV (for InP) wider than their bulk counterparts. Such band gaps are also tunable under the strain along armchair/zigzag direction, and the direct/indirect band gap transitions occur under certain strain, providing their promising applications in band gap engineering for nanoscale electronic and optoelectronic devices. We report results of an HST "snapshot" survey aimed at finding resolved binary companions of the central stars of Galactic planetary nebulae (PNe). Using WF/PC and WFPC2, we searched the fields of 113 PNe for stars whose close proximity to the central star suggests a physical association. We find 10 binary nuclei that are very likely to be physically associated, and another six that are possible binary associations. By correcting for interstellar extinction and placing the central stars' companions on the main sequence, we derive distances to the objects, and thereby significantly increase the number of PNe with reliable distances. Comparison of our derived distances with those obtained from various statistical methods shows that all of the latter have systematically overestimated the distances, by factors ranging up to a factor of two or more. We show that this error is most likely due to the fact that the properties of our PNe with binary nuclei are systematically different from those of PNe used heretofore to calibrate statistical methods. Specifically, our PNe tend to have lower surface brightnesses at the same physical radius than the traditional calibration objects. This difference may arise from a selection effect: the PNe in our survey are typically nearby, old nebulae, whereas most of the objects that calibrate statistical techniques are low-latitude, high-surface-brightness, and more distant nebulae. As a result, the statistical methods that seem to work well with samples of distant PNe, e.g., those in the Galactic bulge or external galaxies, may not be applicable to the more diverse population of local PNe., Comment: 37 text pages, 17 table pages, 9 figures. High spatial resolution 50 and 100 micron observations of the Ring Nebula reveal a far-infrared emission peak close to the center of the nebula where atomic and molecular emission is at a minimum. Dust in this central peak emission region is heated by direct absorption of radiation from the central star. While the dust temperature in the central peak region is about 50 K (dust emissivity index of 1.5), the temperature of the bulk of the dust located in the regions of the ionized nebular core and the neutral molecular gas is on average lower than 50 K. Ly(alpha) photons are sufficient for heating the dust grains within the nebular core. Far-infrared emission is also found from grains mixed with the molecular gas outside the main ionized nebular core.

We present new high spatial resolution Kuiper Airborne Observatory (KAO) 50 and 100 micrometers measurements of the ringed Sab galaxy NGC 4736 and the Sb galaxy NGC 3627. We detect strong far-infrared emission (approximately 10(exp 9) solar luminosity) from the bulge areas of these galaxies, regions where there is little observed star formation. This far-infrared radiation is extended over the bulge with spatial distributions similar to that of the old stellar population. The ratio of far-infrared to H-alpha luminosity for these central sources is significantly larger than for the star-forming regions in these galaxies. This ratio is higher than can be accounted for by dust heating due to a population of young stars with a mass distribution similar to the Salpeter initial mass function assuming current estimates of extinction, unless the upper mass limit is unusually low (approximately B1 stars). On the other hand, the bolometric luminosity of the observed bulge stars is sufficient to account for the far-infrared radiation. Thus, older stars are likely to be important in heating dust in these bulges. The dust in the centers of these galaxies is quite warm, approximately 40 K (lambda(exp -1) emissivity), however, the interstellar radiation fields derived from the optical luminosities are consistent with these temperatures without invoking hidden central star formation or a dusty active galactic nucleus.

ROSAT Position Sensitive Proportional Counter (PSPC) observations of the planetary nebula NGC are reported here. This planetary nebula is here the first discovered to show clearly two components in its X-ray spectrum. A two-component model consisting of a blackbody and a Raymond-Smith thermal plasma is fitted to the observed ROSAT PSPC spectrum. This results in a temperature of T(sub 1) = 1.4 x 10(exp 5) K for the blackbody component and a temperature T(sub 2) = 8.7 x 10(exp 6) K for the hot plasma component, at a hydrogen column density N(sub H) = 1.4 x 10(exp 20)/sq cm. The temperature of the blackbody component is consistent with the helium Zanstra temperature of the central star, indicating that it may be attributed to the photosphere of the central star. The high-temperature component is possibly from a corona around the central star, which may be related to a strong convection in the star. An alternative explanation is that the hot plasma resides in a hot bubble predicted by the interacting wind model. A lower limit of the electron density in the hot plasma is found to be approximately 10/cu cm.

Using existing infrared and radio data on a sample of 432 planetary nebulae, we derived a number of distance-independent parameters for comparison with evolutionary models of planetary nebulae. We find that many of the observed properties of planetary nebulae can be explained by current central star evolutionary models, even if the time scales are subject to significant change by a factor of up to an order of magnitude. Specifically, we find that the evolutionary tracks are well separated in the radio surface brightness-central star temperature plane, therefore allowing us to determine the core mass of individual planetary nebulae. We also obtain the luminosity and gravity of the central stars of individual nebulae, from their temperature and core mass, without relying on the distance assumptions. We find that our results of the core mass are in good agreement with those of Mendez et al. (1992) and Tylenda et al. (1991). A systematic, large discrepancy is found between the luminosity found in this work and that found by Gathier and Pottasch (1986).

The distances are determined for 145 Galactic PNe using two methods. The distances for a sample of 131 PNe are determined using method A, based on the stellar mass and surface gravity. Method B, making use of the stellar luminosity, is applied to another sample of 61 PNe, of which 47 are in common with those in the sample for method A. The properties of the central star, such as the core mass, luminosity, and surface gravity, are inferred from the modeling of the distance-independent parameters. The results from the two methods used in this paper are consistent with each other. A distance of 11.3 kpc is found for K648 using method A of this work. This is in good agreement with the distance of 10 kpc of its hosting globular cluster M15.

The infrared bolometric luminosity of the extended emission from the L1551 flow exceeds 20 solar luminosities. Ultraviolet radiation from the shock associated with the flow appears to heat the dust requiring shock temperatures from 10,000 to 90,000 K in L1551, velocities of approximately 50 km/s near the end of the flow, and a minimum mechanical luminosity of approximately 40 solar luminosities. The total energy requirement of the infrared emission over a 10,000 year lifetime is 10 to the 46th to 47th ergs, two orders of magnitude higher than previous estimates for L1551. Infrared radiation offers a method of probing interstellar shocks, by sampling the untraviolet halo surrounding the shock. At least one current model for bipolar flows is capable of meeting the energetic requirements.
