Background: At present, the pathogenesis of post-treatment Lyme disease (PTLDS) is not clear, so the treatment scheme of PTLDS, especially antibiotic treatment, is still controversial. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of antibiotics in the treatment of PTLDS using network meta-analysis (NMA). Methods: Following PRISMA guidelines, a systematic literature search was conducted on randomized controlled trials in PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science and Cochrane Library (the literature was published from database inception through December 16, 2022). Using random effect model and fixed effect model. STATA17.0 software was used to evaluate the quality and heterogeneity of the included research literature. Results: The system included 4 randomized controlled trials (485 subjects). The network meta-analysis showed that ceftriaxone had better results than placebo [Mean = 0.87, 95% CI (0.02, 1.71)] and doxycycline [Mean = 1.01, 95% CI (0.03, 1.98)] in FSS scale scores. There was no statistical difference in FSS scale scores of other drugs after treatment. In terms of FSS score results, Ceftriaxone was the best intervention according to the SUCRA value of each treatment (97.7). The analysis of outcome indicators such as Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Mental-health Scale and Physical-functioning scale showed that there was no statistically significant difference between the antibiotic group and placebo group. Conclusion: Ceftriaxone treatment may be the best choice for antibiotic treatment of PTLD, which provides useful guidance for antibiotic treatment of PTLD in the future. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Inconsistent results have been reported about the affective prosody recognition (APR) ability in patients with bipolar (BD) and depressive (DD) disorders. We aimed to (i) evaluate the magnitude of APR dysfunction in BD and DD patients, (ii) identify moderators for heterogeneous results, and (iii) highlight research trends in this field. A computerized literature search was conducted in five electronic databases from the inception to May 9th, 2022 to identify behavioural experiments that studied APR in BD or DD patients. Effect sizes were calculated using a random-effect model and recalculated after removing outliers and adjusting publication bias. Twelve eligible articles totalling 16 studies were included in the meta-analysis, aggregating 612 patients and 809 healthy controls. Individual r 2 ranged from 0.008 to 0.355, six of which reached a medium-to-large association strength. A medium-to-large pooled effect size (Hedges g = −0.58, 95 % CI −0.75 to −0.40, p < 0.001) for overall APR impairment in BD and DD patients was obtained. The Beck Depression Inventory score and answer option number were significant moderators. Neuropsychological mechanisms, multi-modal interaction and comorbidity effects have become primary research concerns. Extant statistics were insufficient for disorder-specific analysis. Current findings demonstrate deficits of overall APR in BD and DD patients at a medium-to-large magnitude. APR can clinically serve for early screening and prognosis, but the depression severity, task complexity and confounding variables influence patients' APR performance. Rationale: Novel, evidence-based treatments are required for treatment-resistant post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) has beneficially augmented psychotherapy in several small clinical trials. Objective: To review the use of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy in treatment-resistant PTSD. Methods: Systematic searches of four databases were conducted from inception to February 2020. A meta-analysis was performed on trials which were double-blinded, randomised, and compared MDMA-assisted psychotherapy to psychotherapy and placebo. The primary outcomes were the differences in Clinician Administered PTSD Scale (CAPS-IV) score and Beck's Depression Inventory (BDI). Secondary outcome measures included neurocognitive and physical adverse effects, at the time, and within 7 days of intervention. Results: Four randomised controlled trials (RCTs) met inclusion criteria. When compared to active placebo, intervention groups taking 75 mg (MD −46.90; 95% (confidence intervals) CI −58.78, −35.02), 125 mg (MD −20.98; 95% CI −34.35, −7.61) but not 100 mg (MD −12.90; 95% CI −36.09, 10.29) of MDMA with psychotherapy, had significant decreases in CAPS-IV scores, as did the inactive placebo arm (MD −33.20; 95% CI −40.53, −25.87). A significant decrease in BDI when compared to active placebo (MD −10.80; 95% CI −20.39, −1.21) was only observed at 75 mg. Compared to placebo, participants reported significantly more episodes of low mood, nausea and jaw-clenching during sessions and lack of appetite after 7 days. Conclusion: These results demonstrate potential therapeutic benefit with minimal physical and neurocognitive risk for the use of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy in TR-PTSD, despite little effect on Beck's Depression Inventory. This article is aimed at showing the current level of evidence for the usage of biofeedback and neurofeedback to treat depression along with a detailed review of the studies in the field and a discussion of rationale for utilizing each protocol. La Vaque et al. criteria endorsed by the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback and International Society for Neuroregulation & Research were accepted as a means of study evaluation. Heart rate variability (HRV) biofeedback was found to be moderately supportable as a treatment of MDD while outcome measure was a subjective questionnaire like Beck Depression Inventory (level 3/5, "probably efficacious"). Electroencephalographic (EEG) neurofeedback protocols, namely, alpha-theta, alpha, and sensorimotor rhythm upregulation, all qualify for level 2/5, "possibly efficacious." Frontal alpha asymmetry protocol also received limited evidence of effect in depression (level 2/5, "possibly efficacious"). Finally, the two most influential real-time functional magnetic resonance imaging (rt-fMRI) neurofeedback protocols targeting the amygdala and the frontal cortices both demonstrate some effectiveness, though lack replications (level 2/5, "possibly efficacious"). Thus, neurofeedback specifically targeting depression is moderately supported by existing studies (all fit level 2/5, "possibly efficacious"). The greatest complication preventing certain protocols from reaching higher evidence levels is a relatively high number of uncontrolled studies and an absence of accurate replications arising from the heterogeneity in protocol details, course lengths, measures of improvement, control conditions, and sample characteristics.
