The recent advancements in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as well as increasing demand for vehicular safety has led to significant progressions in Autonomous Vehicle (AV) technology. Perception and Localisation are major operations that determine the success of AV development and usage. Therefore, significant research has been carried out to provide AVs with the capabilities to not only sense and understand their surroundings efficiently, but also provide detailed information of the environment in the form of 3D maps. Visual Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (V-SLAM) has been utilised to enable a vehicle understand its surroundings, map the environment, and identify its position within the area. This paper presents a detailed review of V-SLAM techniques implemented for AV perception and localisation. An overview of SLAM techniques is presented. In addition, an in-depth review is conducted to highlight various V-SLAM schemes, their strengths, and limitations. Challenges associated with V-SLAM deployment and future research directions are also provided in this paper. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: This study was aimed to systematically review the existing literature and explore more the diagnostic value of T1 and T2 mapping in acute myocarditis. Methods: Studies were searched from five electronic databases. Sensitivity, specificity, diagnostic odds ratio (DOR), and summary receiver operating characteristic curves (SROC) were calculated to present diagnostic performance. A meta‐regression and subgroup analysis was performed based on validation (endomyocardial biopsy [EMB] vs. clinical criteria). Results: A total of 10 studies were included, with 400 myocarditis patients and 266 controls. Native T1, T2, and extracellular volume (ECV) values were significantly increased in the myocarditis group. Pooled sensitivities for T1, T2 mapping, and ECV were 0.84 (0.78–0.88), 0.77 (0.69–0.83), and 0.69 (0.50–0.83), respectively. Pooled specificities were 0.86 (0.69–0.95), 0.83 (0.73–0.89), and 0.77 (0.63–0.87), respectively. The DORs were 32 (12–87), 16 (8–30), and 7 (4–14), respectively. The areas under the curve (AUC) of SROC were 0.87 (0.84–0.90), 0.86 (0.82–0.89), and 0.80 (0.76–0.83), respectively. In the meta‐regression and subgroup analysis, significantly lower specificities of T1 and T2 mapping were observed in EMB studies (p < 0.01). Conclusion: The currently available evidence shows that T1 and T2 mapping including ECV alone offer comparably good diagnostic performance for the detection of acute myocarditis. The reason for the observed mismatch with EMB findings should be further investigated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The objective of this systematic review is to create an overview of the literature on the comparison of navigated transcranial magnetic stimulation (nTMS) as a mapping tool to the current gold standard, which is (intraoperative) direct cortical stimulation (DCS) mapping. A search in the databases of PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science was performed. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines and recommendations were used. Thirty-five publications were included in the review, describing a total of 552 patients. All studies concerned either mapping of motor or language function. No comparative data for nTMS and DCS for other neurological functions were found. For motor mapping, the distances between the cortical representation of the different muscle groups identified by nTMS and DCS varied between 2 and 16 mm. Regarding mapping of language function, solely an object naming task was performed in the comparative studies on nTMS and DCS. Sensitivity and specificity ranged from 10 to 100% and 13.3–98%, respectively, when nTMS language mapping was compared with DCS mapping. The positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) ranged from 17 to 75% and 57–100% respectively.
