Reports on the announcement of the Black Caucus of the American Library Association of the theme for its first national conference, that will be held September 4-7, 1992. Focus of the conference on "Culture Keepers: Enlightening and Empowering Our Communities"; Invitation for the submission of papers on various topics of relevance to African Americans.
Summarizes events that occurred at the American Library Association (ALA) Headquarters staff management retreat. Formulation of a mission statement and four goals for diversity in the ALA work force and work environment; Remarks from ALA Executive Director Linda F. Crismond; Call for researchers and scholars to submit papers in several disciplines, including African-American librarianship.
