Abstract
Deals with the protest arising from the photograph of black family during a drug raid published by The News Sun, Waukegan, Illinois, on April 18, 1997 and, on September 8, 1997. Accusations of the responding readers against the paper; Impact of the published photograph; Demands of the protestors.
Focuses on the plans of Black Publishers Trade Association to use group buying power to lower costs for printing and paper purchases in 2005. Agreement reached by Genesis Press Inc. with Kensington Books in 2004.
The article comments on the situation at Pennsylvania State University. A column in the school paper was urging black students to organize a "militia" to battle white "devils." And at the same time there are continuing demonstrations against the coach of the women's basketball team because she has not apparently been sufficiently eager to recruit lesbians to the squad.
