The article presents several studies which evaluate the effects of Systane eye drop in treating patients with dry eye syndrome in the U.S. Studies show that Systane significantly improves corneal staining after 6 weeks and improve ocular surface health. In a related matter, Systane was developed by Alcon Laboratories Inc.

The article reports on a study commissioned by Vistakon, a division of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, which showed that contact lenses made with senofilcon A could alleviate patient discomfort from feelings of dryness. The researchers indicated that participants who wore the Acuvue Oasys contact lense from Vistakon experienced lower subjective ocular discomfort compared with those using their usual contact lenses. Results of the study also revealed that patients are more comfortable wearing the senofilcon A lenses than not wearing no lenses at all.
