Abstract

Information systems risk is a top concern for organizations due to the fact that the consequences of a security breach can be detrimental to a company's financial performance. This article reports the impact of virus attack announcements on the market value of affected companies over a period of 15 years. A description is given on the reasons for choosing a market value and the characteristics of virus attacks. In conclusion, the study's results and limitations are discussed, as well as future research.
