The article presents information on a new design approach for improving the transmit-receive isolation of dual-band couplers in the communication systems. A coupler's isolation is important for maintaining receiver sensitivity and higher DC offset. In this approach, composite right/left-handed (CRLH) transmission lines were used and a dual-band coupler for wireless-local-area-network (WLAN) applications was developed to verify this concept.
