In this article the author discuses a better way to understand the refraction of astigmatism. It presents a model with an idealised representation of Sturm's conoid insofar as the two focal lines are equal due to the symmetry of the construction. it is noted that the interesting aspect of this model is that all the individual rays have the same length.
