The conventional energy transmission system of today's high-performance train systems consisting of catenary and pantograph has some drawbacks which could be resolved by an innova­tive catenary-free energy transmission. The concept introduced here points out that even the technical requirements of an ultra-high-speed train could be fulfilled. The advantages of the inductive energy transmission system are expected with respect to maintenance and especially costs for operational difficulties. Anyway, the investment costs could be an obstacle, what has to be investigated further. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
