The article focuses on the effect of sustained economic growth on the cosmetic market in China. The sales revenue in the cosmetic sector in China was reported to be around RMB85 billion in 2004, an increase of 13.4% over 2003. The profit and tax from the earnings was around RMB40 billion, an increase of 18%. The average annual growth of the cosmetic sector is around 12.9% which is higher than the growth of the national economy. The cosmetic industry in China has developed tremendously after economic reform.

The article focuses on the study which examines the impact of membrane foul formation, a decrease in filterability caused by the interaction between the membrane and micro-particles in activated sludge-mixed liquid in a submerged membrane biological reactor (MBR). It cites several factors of membrane fouling, including the properties of mixed liquids and the conditions of membrane separation. It shows that foul formation was prevented by providing aeration and intermittent effluent discharge.
