The article discusses the evolving role of librarians and the debate surrounding the necessity of advanced degrees in the field. It highlights how requiring a master's degree could impact equity, diversity, and inclusion within the profession. The article also presents a case study of the Prince George's County Memorial Library System, which eliminated the master's degree requirement for certain positions to promote diversity and provide advancement opportunities for staff members.
