The article compares the primary pipe-joining methods in the hydrocarbon processing industry (HPI), including welding, flanging, threading and grooved. The disadvantages of welding include safety concerns, time-consuming activity, complexity, and skill shortage. It is stated that threading of joints is unfit for leaks, that can be caused by improper initial installation.
