Abstract

The article reports the acquisition by Indian firm Piramal Pharma Solutions as of late August 2016 of high-potency active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) contract manufacturer Ash Stevens in its bid to enter the North American market. Ash Stevens produces APIs for 12 drugs such as Velcade from Millennium Pharmaceutical. Also cited is the comment by Piramal chief executive officer (CEO) Vivek Sharma on the acquisition.

Abstract

Research from the University of West of England in Bristol, England found that while patients with inflammatory arthritis need emotional support it is rarely offered to them. Great Britain's National Institute for Health and Care Excellence has recommended using the drug bortezomib for treating multiple myeloma. Statistics from Great Britain's Health and Social Care Information Centre indicate that the number of dog bites leading to hospitalization increased six per cent between January of 2013 and 2014.
