The article discusses a study by professor Paul R. Thompson, and a team of researchers led by Huw D. Lewis of pharmaceutical firm GlaxoSmithKline and published in a 2015 issue of the periodical "Nature Chemistry" which showed that protein arginine deiminases enzymes mediate the conversion of arginine residues to citrulline. It discusses importance of citrullination process in formation of structural tissues such as skin, hair and the myelin sheath. It mentions neutrophil extracellular traps.
