In the context of the internationalization of higher education, the East Asian region has strengthened its role as a provider of higher education, shifting from a source of foreign students for other regions. It should be noted that the mobility of students within the region has increased considerably. It has been 10 years since the inauguration of CAMPUS Asia as a platform of student mobility in Japan, China, and Korea, a scheme which is suited to the above patterns of human mobility. The scheme aims to achieve two major goals: facilitating student mobility and exchange between universities at a deeper level and quality assurance of collaborative education. The aim of this paper is to address the background of its establishment, achievements, and quality assurance practices as well as to discuss the challenges faced in the creation of a regional higher education framework.
