The research groups in computer vision, graphics, and machine learning have dedicated a substantial amount of attention to the areas of 3D object reconstruction, augmentation, and registration. Deep learning is the predominant method used in artificial intelligence for addressing computer vision challenges. However, deep learning on three-dimensional data presents distinct obstacles and is now in its nascent phase. There have been significant advancements in deep learning specifically for three-dimensional data, offering a range of ways to address these issues. This study offers a comprehensive examination of the latest advancements in deep learning methodologies. We examine many benchmark models for the tasks of 3D object registration, augmentation, and reconstruction. We thoroughly analyse their architectures, advantages, and constraints. In summary, this report provides a comprehensive overview of recent advancements in three-dimensional deep learning and highlights unresolved research areas that will need to be addressed in the future. This paper addresses issues concerning biometric authentication based on handwritten signatures. Our research aimed to check whether a handwritten signature acquired with a mobile device can effectively verify a user's identity. We present a novel online signature verification method using coordinates of points and pressure values at each point collected with a mobile device. Convolutional neural networks are used for signature verification. In this paper, three neural network models are investigated, i.e., two self-made light SigNet and SigNetExt models and the VGG-16 model commonly used in image processing. The convolutional neural networks aim to determine whether the acquired signature sample matches the class declared by the signer. Thus, the scenario of closed set verification is performed. The effectiveness of our method was tested on signatures acquired with mobile phones. We used the subset of the multimodal database, MobiBits, that was captured using a custom-made application and consists of samples acquired from 53 people of diverse ages. The experimental results on accurate data demonstrate that developed architectures of deep neural networks can be successfully used for online handwritten signature verification. Deep learning, a crucial technique for achieving artificial intelligence (AI), has been successfully applied in many fields. The gradual application of the latest architectures of deep learning in the field of time series forecasting (TSF), such as Transformers, has shown excellent performance and results compared to traditional statistical methods. These applications are widely present in academia and in our daily lives, covering many areas including forecasting electricity consumption in power systems, meteorological rainfall, traffic flow, quantitative trading, risk control in finance, sales operations and price predictions for commercial companies, and pandemic prediction in the medical field. Deep learning-based TSF tasks stand out as one of the most valuable AI scenarios for research, playing an important role in explaining complex real-world phenomena. However, deep learning models still face challenges: they need to deal with the challenge of large-scale data in the information age, achieve longer forecasting ranges, reduce excessively high computational complexity, etc. Therefore, novel methods and more effective solutions are essential. In this paper, we review the latest developments in deep learning for TSF. We begin by introducing the recent development trends in the field of TSF and then propose a new taxonomy from the perspective of deep neural network models, comprehensively covering articles published over the past five years. We also organize commonly used experimental evaluation metrics and datasets. Finally, we point out current issues with the existing solutions and suggest promising future directions in the field of deep learning combined with TSF. A pipeline is critical in conveying water, oil, gas, petrochemicals, and slurry. As the pipeline ages and corrodes, it becomes susceptible to deterioration, resulting in wastage and hazardous damages depending on the material it transports. To mitigate these risks, implementing a suitable monitoring system becomes essential, enabling the early identification of damage and minimizing waste and the potential for hazardous incidents. The pipeline monitoring system can be exterior, visual/biological, and computational. This paper surveys state-of-the-art approaches and also performs experimental analyses with a few methods in signal/data-driven approaches within computational methods. More precisely, signal processing-based leak localization methods, artificial intelligence-based leak detection methods, and combined approaches are given. This paper implements five signal processing-based methods and 17 artificial intelligence-based methods. This implementation helps to compare and understand the significance of appropriate noise removal and feature extraction. The data for this analysis is collected using acousto-optic sensors from an experimental setup. After implementation, the highest observed leak localization accuracy is 99.14% with the wavelet packet adaptive independent component analysis-based generalized cross correlation, and the highest leak detection accuracy is 98.32% with the one-dimensional convolutional neural network. Incorporating style-related objectives into shape design has been centrally important to maximize product appeal. However, algorithmic style capture and reuse have not fully benefited from automated data-driven methodologies due to the challenging nature of design describability. This paper proposes an AI-driven method to fully automate the discovery of brand-related features. First, to tackle the scarcity of vectorized product images, this research proposes two data acquisition workflows: parametric modeling from small curve-based datasets, and vectorization from large pixel-based datasets. Second, this study constructs BIGNet, a two-tier Brand Identification Graph Neural Network, to learn from both scalar vector graphics' curve-level and chunk-level parameters. In the first case study, BIGNet not only classifies phone brands but also captures brand-related features across multiple scales, such as lens' location, as confirmed by AI evaluation. In the second study, this paper showcases the generalizability of BIGNet learning from a vectorized car image dataset and validates the consistency and robustness of its predictions given four scenarios. The results match the difference commonly observed in luxury versus economy brands in the automobile market. Finally, this paper also visualizes the activation maps generated from a convolutional neural network and shows BIGNet's advantage of being a more explainable style-capturing agent. The increasing availability of hydrological and physiographic spatiotemporal data has boosted machine learning's role in rapid flood mapping. Yet, data scarcity, especially high-resolution DEMs, challenges regions with limited access. This paper examines how DEM type and resolution affect flood prediction accuracy, utilizing a cutting-edge deep learning (DL) method called 1D convolutional neural network (CNN). It utilizes synthetic hydrographs as training input and water depth data obtained from LISFLOOD-FP, a 2D hydrodynamic model, as target data. This study investigates digital surface models (DSMs) and digital terrain models (DTMs) derived from a 1 m LIDAR-based DTM, with resolutions from 15 to 30 m. The methodology is applied and assessed in a established benchmark, city of Carlisle, UK. The models' performance is then evaluated and compared against an observed flood event using RMSE, Bias, and Fit indices. Leveraging the insights gained from this region, the paper discusses the applicability of the methodology to address the challenges encountered in a data-scarce flood-prone region, exemplified by Pakistan. Results indicated that utilizing a 30 m DTM outperformed a 30 m DSM in terms of flood depth prediction accuracy by about 21% during the flood peak stage, highlighting the superior performance of DTM at lower resolutions. Increasing the resolution of DTM to 15 m resulted in a minimum 50% increase in RMSE and a 20% increase in fit index across all flood stages. The findings emphasize that while a coarser resolution DEM may impact the accuracy of machine learning models, it remains a viable option for rapid flood prediction. Facility management maintains building service quality through cycles of condition assessments and rehabilitation. Building components, however, differ in their nature, service lives, deterioration patterns, and textual/visual inspection data. This complicates the condition assessment process and subsequent rehabilitation decisions. This paper proposes a smart condition assessment framework that uses different artificial intelligence (AI) techniques that suit the condition data analysis of different building components. The framework has been applied to a dataset of over 2000 maintenance requests for roof and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems across a 600-villa portfolio. To address their varying needs, convolutional neural networks were used on images of roof defects, while enhanced data mining was used on textual data of HVAC systems. Accordingly, work packages of deteriorated components were identified, and a 60-day schedule was developed to repair 203 HVAC units. Combining the advantages of quantum computing and machine learning, quantum machine learning is anticipated to advance the field of artificial intelligence further. Recent research has demonstrated, however, that the state-of-the-art quantum classifiers can be deceived by adversarial examples, leading to incorrect classifications by quantum models. This paper proposes the quantum fuzzy convolutional neural network, which is used to detect adversarial examples, by combining the benefits of fuzzy systems and the quantum convolutional neural network. This defensive strategy does not modify the structure and training process of the quantum classifier that requires protection. Simulation experiments show that the adversarial example detection approach proposed in this paper can successfully separate the real data distribution from the adversarial data distribution and detect the adversarial examples generated by a specific attack method on a specific quantum classifier. Diseases of tomato leaves can seriously damage crop yield and financial rewards. The timely and accurate detection of tomato diseases is a major challenge in agriculture. Hence, the early and accurate diagnosis of tomato diseases is crucial. The emergence of deep learning has dramatically helped in plant disease detection. However, the accuracy of deep learning models largely depends on the quantity and quality of training data. To solve the inter-class imbalance problem and improve the generalization ability of the classification model, this paper proposes a cycle-consistent generative-adversarial-network-based Transformer model to generate diseased tomato leaf images for data augmentation. In addition, this paper uses a Transformer model and densely connected CNN architecture to extract multilevel local features. The Transformer module is utilized to capture global dependencies and contextual information accurately to expand the sensory field of the model. Experiments show that the proposed model achieved 99.45% accuracy on the PlantVillage dataset. The 2018 Artificial Intelligence Challenger dataset and the private dataset attained accuracies of 98.30% and 95.4%, and the proposed classification model achieved a higher accuracy and smaller model size compared to previous deep learning models. Image semantic segmentation technology is one of the core research contents in the field of computer vision. With the improvement of computer performance and the continuous development of deep learning technology, researchers have more and more enthusiasm to study the actual effect and performance of image semantic segmentation. The results of deep semantic segmentation allow computers to have a more detailed and accurate understanding of images, and have a wide range of application needs in the fields of autonomous driving, intelligent security, medical imaging, remote sensing images, etc. However, the existing image semantic segmentation algorithms have the disadvantages of easy discontinuous results and insufficient prediction accuracy. In this paper, we take deep learning-based image semantic segmentation technology as the research object to explore the improvement of the image semantic segmentation algorithm and its application in road scenarios. First, this paper proposes MCU-Net method based on residual fusion and multi-scale contextual information. MCU-Net uses residual fusion module to deepen the network structure and improve the ability of U-Net to acquire deeper features. Then a top-down and bottom-up path is constructed for feature information between different levels, and the spatial and semantic information contained in shallow and deep features in the network is fully utilized by fusing features from different levels. In addition, an enhanced void space pyramid pooling module is added for feature information between the same levels, which enables the output features to have a larger range of semantic information. Second, this paper proposes the DAMCU-Net method based on attention mechanism and edge detection based on MCU-Net. DAMCU-Net extracts global contextual information by the attention mechanism optimization module, while fusing features using dense jump connections to facilitate the network to recover more spatial detail information during upsampling, and uses the FReLU activation function to improve the segmentation capability of the network for complex targets. For the edge information lost in the feature extraction process, the edge detection branch is added to supplement the feature information of the main path by feature fusion to achieve the optimization of the edge information. This paper is on the autonomous detection of humans in off-limits mountains. In off-limits mountains, a human rarely exists, thus human detection is an extremely rare event. Due to the advances in artificial intelligence, object detection–classification algorithms based on a Convolution Neural Network (CNN) can be used for this application. However, considering off-limits mountains, there should be no person in general. Thus, it is not desirable to run object detection–classification algorithms continuously, since they are computationally heavy. This paper addresses a time-efficient human detector system, based on both motion detection and object classification. The proposed scheme is to run a motion detection algorithm from time to time. In the camera image, we define a feasible human space where a human can appear. Once motion is detected inside the feasible human space, one enables the object classification, only inside the bounding box where motion is detected. Since motion detection inside the feasible human space runs much faster than an object detection–classification method, the proposed approach is suitable for real-time human detection with low computational loads. As far as we know, no paper in the literature used the feasible human space, as in our paper. The outperformance of our human detector system is verified by comparing it with other state-of-the-art object detection–classification algorithms (HOG detector, YOLOv7 and YOLOv7-tiny) under experiments. This paper demonstrates that the accuracy of the proposed human detector system is comparable to other state-of-the-art algorithms, while outperforming in computational speed. Both the ABO and Rhesus (Rh) blood groups play crucial roles in blood transfusion medicine. Herein, we report a simple and low-cost paper-based analytical device (PAD) for phenotyping red blood cell (RBC) antigens. Using this Rh typing format, 5 Rh antigens on RBCs can be simultaneously detected and macroscopically visualized within 12 min. The proposed Rh phenotyping relies on the presence or absence of hemagglutination in the sample zones after immobilizing the antibodies targeting each Rh antigen. The PAD was optimized in terms of filter paper type, antibodies, and distance of the visualization zone. In this study, the optimal conditions were Whatman filter paper Grade 4; anti-D, –C, -E, -c, and -e antibodies; RBC suspension of 30%; and a visualization zone of 1 cm above the sample zone. The accuracy of simultaneously phenotyping the five Rh RBC antigens in the blood samples (n = 4692) was 99.19%, comparable with the accuracy of the gold-standard tube method used by blood bank laboratories in several regions of Thailand. Furthermore, decision making based on this method can be assisted by deep learning. After implementing a two-stage objective detection algorithm (YOLO v4-tiny) and classification model (DenseNet-201), the ambiguous images (n = 48) were interpreted with 100% accuracy. Cameras are rapidly becoming the choice for on-board sensors towards space rendezvous due to their small form factor and inexpensive power, mass, and volume costs. When it comes to docking, however, they typically serve a secondary role, whereas the main work is done by active sensors such as lidar. This paper documents the development of a proposed AI-based (artificial intelligence) navigation algorithm intending to mature the use of on-board visible wavelength cameras as a main sensor for docking and on-orbit servicing (OOS), reducing the dependency on lidar and greatly reducing costs. Specifically, the use of AI enables the expansion of the relative navigation solution towards multiple classes of scenarios, e.g., in terms of targets or illumination conditions, which would otherwise have to be crafted on a case-by-case manner using classical image processing methods. Multiple convolutional neural network (CNN) backbone architectures are benchmarked on synthetically generated data of docking manoeuvres with the International Space Station (ISS), achieving position and attitude estimates close to 1 % range-normalised and 1 deg, respectively, an established rule of thumb for the navigation measurement accuracy during final approach. Lung cancer is an uncontrolled growth of tissue causing a lump in the human lung. If lung cancer can be detected early, it can increase the survival rate. Therefore, a multi-classification approach of lung nodule detection with high computational effectiveness is required. In this paper, a multi-classification approach of lung nodule detection and classification is proposed using artificial intelligence on computed tomography (CT) scan images. Different preprocessing steps are applied for resizing, smoothing, and enhancement of the CT images. Then, two different approaches for feature extraction using VGG16 transfer learning and morphological segmentation are proposed. Morphological segmentation and feature extraction are applied for the segmentation of the region of interest and to extract the distinct features. Finally, the proposed deep learning architecture and seven different machine learning algorithms are applied on the preprocessed data and the extracted features for the classification of lung nodules into three classes: malignant, benign, and normal. It is observed that the stacked ensemble model of deep learning convolutional neural network (CNN) and VGG16 transfer learning models (CNN+VGG16) can achieve 99.55% accuracy using preprocessed data. It is also observed that all the ML algorithms perform with reasonably high accuracy using the low-dimensional morphological features. It is observed from the fivefold cross-validation results that logistic regression performs with 99.36% accuracy in 23.71 s time using the preprocessed data. Whereas, using the morphological features, k-nearest neighbor, and the support vector machine perform with the highest accuracy of 99.76% with very reduced computational time of 0.017 and 0.008 s, respectively. Recently, computer vision and artificial intelligence are being used as enabling technologies for plant phenotyping studies, since they allow the analysis of large amounts of data gathered by the sensors. Plant phenotyping studies can be devoted to the evaluation of complex plant traits either on the aerial part of the plant as well as on the underground part, to extract meaningful information about the growth, development, tolerance, or resistance of the plant itself. All plant traits should be evaluated automatically and quantitatively measured in a non-destructive way. This paper describes a novel approach for identifying plant roots from images of the root system architecture using a convolutional neural network (CNN) that operates on small image patches calculating the probability that the center point of the patch is a root pixel. The underlying idea is that the CNN model should embed as much information as possible about the variability of the patches that can show chaotic and heterogeneous backgrounds. Unlike general or specific waste types, infectious waste poses distinct health and environmental risks. Leveraging advanced artificial intelligence techniques, we prioritize infectious waste categorization and optimization, integrating metaheuristics into optimization methods to create a robust dual-ensemble framework. Our model, the "Enhanced Artificial Intelligence for Infectious Municipal Waste Classification System," combines ensemble image segmentation methods and diverse convolutional neural network models. Innovative geometric image augmentation enhances model robustness, diversifies training data, and improves accuracy across waste types. A pivotal aspect is the integration of a reinforcement learning-differential evolution algorithm as a decision fusion strategy, optimizing classification by harmonizing outputs from ensemble methods and convolutional neural network models. Computational results, using a newly collected dataset, demonstrate our model's accuracy exceeding 96.54% while using the existing solid waste dataset we achieve the accuracy of 97.81%, outperforming advanced approaches by margins ranging from 2.02% to 8.80%. High‐fidelity segmentation of blood vessels plays a pivotal role in numerous biomedical applications, such as injection assistance, cancer detection, various surgeries, and vein authentication. Near‐infrared (NIR) transillumination imaging is an effective and safe method to visualize the subcutaneous blood vessel network. However, such images are severely blurred because of the light scattering in body tissues. Inspired by the Vision Transformer model, this paper proposes a novel deep learning network known as transformer connection (TRC)‐Unet to capture global blurred and local clear correlations while using multi‐layer attention. Our method mainly consists of two blocks, thereby aiming to remap skip connection information flow and fuse different domain features. Specifically, the TRC extracts global blurred information from multiple layers and suppresses scattering to increase the clarity of vessel features. Transformer feature fusion eliminates the domain gap between the highly semantic feature maps of the convolutional neural network backbone and the adaptive self‐attention maps of TRCs. Benefiting from the long‐range dependencies of transformers, we achieved competitive results in relation to various competing methods on different data sets, including retinal vessel segmentation, simulated blur image segmentation, and real NIR blood vessel image segmentation. Moreover, our method remarkably improved the segmentation results of simulated blur image data sets and a real NIR vessel image data set. Urban tree classification enables informed decision-making processes in urban planning and management. This paper introduces a novel data reformation method, pseudo tree crown (PTC), which enhances the feature difference in the input layer and results in the improvement of the accuracy and efficiency of urban tree classification by utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) techniques. The study involved a comparative analysis of the performance of various machine learning (ML) classifiers. The results revealed a significant enhancement in classification accuracy, with an improvement exceeding 10% observed when high spatial resolution imagery captured by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was utilized. Furthermore, the study found an impressive average classification accuracy of 93% achieved by a classifier built on the PyTorch framework, with ResNet50 leveraged as its convolutional neural network layer. The intelligent segmentation of high-resolution remote sensing (HRS) image, also called as dense prediction task for HRS image, has been and will continue to be important research in the remote sensing community. In recent years, the growing wave of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has introduced innovative paradigms to this domain, yielding outstanding results and overcoming many challenges with conventional segmentation techniques. This paper provides a comprehensive review of these intelligent segmentation methodologies, including traditional pattern recognition, convolution neural network (CNN)-based, and Transformer-based techniques. However, the explosive but incomplete development of intelligent segmentation techniques also poses more challenges for earth observation experts, the most of which is the technical interpretability. Consequently, we consider these segmentation techniques in the aspect of explainable artificial intelligence (XAI). Data-centric XAI thinks the practical applications of the segmentation model while model-centric XAI will facilitate the understanding of decision-making processes and the adjustment of structural features. Moreover, this review identifies novel research questions and provides constructive insights and recommendations to HRS image segmentation tasks, which may shed new light on the intelligent segmentation methods within the remote sensing image understanding community. The health management of railway signal equipment in the high-speed railway is a key link between intelligent operation and maintenance. Accurately predicting the health state of compensation capacitors is of great significance to ensure the reliable work of track circuits. This paper proposes an improved deep neural network algorithm focusing on the problem of long-term accurate health forecasts for compensation capacitors. First, establishing a transmission state model for degradation mechanism mining, the difference function that can quantitatively evaluate features is defined by piecewise processing cab signaling receiving voltage. Introducing the degradation model, predictive driving under both model and data is implemented. Then, the convolutional neural networks and bidirectional long–short-term memory are combined and improved to construct a novel artificial intelligence combination strategy, while parameters are optimized based on the sparrow search algorithm. Finally, facing the conditional repair of compensation capacitors, we set a reasonable threshold for the occurrence of hidden dangers to complete fault warning. Power load prediction is fundamental for ensuring the reliability of power grid operation and the accuracy of power demand forecasting. However, the uncertainties stemming from power generation, such as wind speed and water flow, along with variations in electricity demand, present new challenges to existing power load prediction methods. In this paper, we propose an improved Convolutional Neural Network–Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (CNN-BILSTM) model for analyzing power load in systems affected by uncertain power conditions. Initially, we delineate the uncertainty characteristics inherent in real-world power systems and establish a data-driven power load model based on fluctuations in power source loads. Building upon this foundation, we design the CNN-BILSTM model, which comprises a convolutional neural network (CNN) module for extracting features from power data, along with a forward Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) module and a reverse LSTM module. The two LSTM modules account for factors influencing forward and reverse power load timings in the entire power load data, thus enhancing model performance and data utilization efficiency. Enforcing vehicle speed limits is paramount for road safety. This paper pioneers an innovative approach by synergizing signal processing and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) to detect speeding violations, addressing a critical aspect of traffic management. While traditional methods have shown efficacy, the potential synergy of signal processing and AI techniques remains largely unexplored. We bridge this gap by harnessing Mel spectrograms extracted from vehicle recordings, representing intricate audio features. An altered variant of the crayfish optimization algorithm (COA) was employed to tune the CNN model. Anemia is a severe health condition commonly prevalent among women of reproductive age and children below five years. Screening patients before the condition becomes critical and can save many lives. World Health Organization (WHO) has set the "Global nutrition target 2025-anemia," aiming to reduce 50% of anemia cases among women of reproductive age. This target can be achieved through a time-efficient, cost-effective, and easy-to-use tool. Traditional testing methods require specific chemicals, machines, and equipment that are not available everywhere. It also requires the presence of nurses, laboratory workers, and doctors. These methods are costly, time-consuming, and produce biohazard waste, thus polluting the environment. We developed an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based bot that can be used for screening people for anemia. The bot service is based on two models: a segmentation model to segment the Region of Interest (ROI) and a classification model to classify anemic cases from normal ones. To train the model, we have collected data from 160 anemic and 140 non-anemic persons. In this paper, we have explained the architecture of the models, all the training parameters, and their deployment on cloud services using the REAN chatbot service. We manage to reach an Intersection Over Union (IOU) score of 0.922 for the segmentation model; validation recall of 0.95 and validation accuracy of 0.9699 for the classification model. This system is easy to use and does not depend on the availability of comprehensive laboratory infrastructure or trained personnel and thus can enable screening of anemia in low-resource settings. Pre-trained convolutional neural network (CNN) structures are considered as one of the emerging education management tools that can help improve the quality of education by allowing decision makers to manipulate important indicators. These indicators, which are categorized as student and institution specific factors, may influence student progress, retention or dropout rates. In this paper, we develop a deep learning model of predicting students' satisfactions and their expected outcomes and associated early failures. The model can also predict dropout rates and identify the main baseline risk factors that influence such rates. The academic data of 12,000 students enrolled from 2018 in the Arab Open University student information system are used as CNNs training dataset to ensure that all institution levels are represented. Then, the trained network provides a probabilistic model that indicates, for each student, the probability of dropout. Based on the prediction model, the study presents an early warning system framework to generate alerts and recommendations to allow early and effective institutional intervention. Experiments are achieved by using the proposed dataset and the performance of our approach is considerably better compared to the competitive models in terms of training/validation accuracy and mean square errors. Using the improved Johnson et al.'s style migration network as a starting point, this paper proposes a new loss function based on the position information Gram matrix. The new method adds the chunked Gram matrix with position information, and simultaneously, the structural similarity between the style map and the resultant image is added to the style training. The style position information is given to the resultant image, and finally, the resolution of the resultant image is improved with the SRGAN. The new model can effectively migrate the texture structure as well as the color space of the style image, while the data of the content image are kept intact. The simulation results reveal that the image processing results of the new model improve those of the classical Johnson et al.'s method, Google Brain team method, and CCPL method, and the SSIM values of the resulting map and style image are all greater than 0.3. As a comparison, the SSIM values of Johnson et al., Google Brain team, and CCPL are 0.14, 0.11, and 0.12, respectively, which is an obvious improvement. Moreover, with deeper training, the new method can improve the similarity of certain resulting images and style images to more than 0.37256. The emergence of data-driven analytics and intelligent monitoring systems is radically transforming the world of competitive sports. However, robust real-time activity recognition remains elusive for rapid-paced sports like table tennis due to the complexity of strokes and quick maneuvering. This paper tries to overcome this challenge through an innovative cloud-supported system integrating the Internet of Things (IoT), machine learning, and wearable sensors for automated analysis of table tennis gameplay. We strategically set up a multi-camera IoT system around a table tennis court to compile a rich labeled image dataset encapsulating over 15,000 frames. To improve model generalization, the images captured various playing styles, lighting conditions, and camera angles. We developed tailored SVM and CNN architectures optimized for table tennis activity classification. The models were trained on GPU-accelerated platforms using the curated dataset. After hyperparameter tuning and cross-validation, the CNN model achieved 96.2% accuracy, a precision value of 96.3%, a recall value of 95.2%, and an F1-score of 96.3% in classifying standard strokes and serves. Additionally, the models exhibited impressive processing speeds of 22–34 fps, enabling real-time utilization. Our proposed model outperformed the latest models in this field with higher accuracy, recall values, F1-score, and precision. While expanding the dataset diversity and testing variations of deep network architectures could further enhance performance, this paper demonstrates a crucial leap toward helping real-time analytics in table tennis using an AI-powered computer vision approach. With the development of artificial intelligence, robots are widely used in various fields, grasping detection has been the focus of intelligent robot research. A dual manipulator grasping detection model based on Markov decision process is proposed to realize the stable grasping with complex multiple objects in this paper. Based on the principle of Markov decision process, the cross entropy convolutional neural network and full convolutional neural network are used to parameterize the grasping detection model of dual manipulators which are two-finger manipulator and vacuum sucker manipulator for multi-objective unknown objects. The data set generated in the simulated environment is used to train the two grasping detection networks. By comparing the grasping quality of the detection network output the best grasping by the two grasping methods, the network with better detection effect corresponding to the two grasping methods of two-finger and vacuum sucker is determined, and the dual manipulator grasping detection model is constructed in this paper. Robot grasping experiments are carried out, and the experimental results show that the proposed dual manipulator grasping detection method achieves 90.6% success rate, which is much higher than the other groups of experiments. In recent years, the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) has revolutionized various industries, with image processing playing an important role in the revolution. AI-powered image analysis has opened up new possibilities in healthcare diagnostics, autonomous navigation, and security surveillance, fuelling demand for sophisticated image-processing solutions. This paper describes an innovative approach to AI image processing that combines multi-sensor data fusion with convolutional neural networks (CNNs) within a fuzzy neural network framework. This integration uses data from various sensors, including cameras, lidar, and radar, to improve the robustness and precision of image analysis and interpretation. The T–S model serves as the foundation for the information fusion strategy. A comprehensive investigation of deep learning algorithms reveals inherent strengths such as robustness and parallelism. However, it also identifies limitations, particularly in image segmentation tasks, characterized by challenges like premature convergence and prolonged computation times. The paper proposes a quantization technique for deep learning algorithms to address these issues and introduces chaotic optimization to expedite convergence rates. It also presents a novel three-dimensional Otsu threshold segmentation method based on CNNs, which overcomes noise susceptibility in traditional two-dimensional approaches. Integrating Gray morphology and this three-dimensional Otsu threshold segmentation method results in the development of a three-dimensional Gray Otsu model. In this paper, we have proposed a hybrid bio-inspired algorithm which takes the merits of whale optimization algorithm (WOA) and adaptive particle swarm optimization (APSO). The proposed algorithm is referred as the hybrid WOA_APSO algorithm. We utilize a convolutional neural network (CNN) for classification purposes. Extensive experiments are performed to evaluate the performance of the proposed model. Here, pre-processing and segmentation are performed on 120 lung CT images for obtaining the segmented tumored and non-tumored region nodule. The statistical, texture, geometrical and structural features are extracted from the processed image using different techniques. The optimized feature selection plays a crucial role in determining the accuracy of the classification algorithm. The novel variant of whale optimization algorithm and adaptive particle swarm optimization, hybrid bio-inspired WOA_APSO, is proposed for selecting optimized features. The feature selection grouping is applied by embedding linear discriminant analysis which helps in determining the reduced dimensions of subsets. Twofold performance comparisons are done. First, we compare the performance against the different classification techniques such as support vector machine, artificial neural network (ANN) and CNN. Second, the computational cost of the hybrid WOA_APSO is compared with the standard WOA and APSO algorithms. The experimental result reveals that the proposed algorithm is capable of automatic lung tumor detection and it outperforms the other state-of-the-art methods on standard quality measures such as accuracy (97.18%), sensitivity (97%) and specificity (98.66%). With the rapid growth in the proportion of renewable energy access and the structural complexity of distributed energy systems, traditional microgrid (MG) scheduling methods that rely on mathematical optimization models and expert experience are facing significant challenges. Therefore, it is essential to present a novel scheduling technique with high intelligence and fast decision-making capacity to realize MGs' automatic operation and regulation. This paper proposes an optimal scheduling decision-making method for MGs based on deep neural networks (DNN). Firstly, a typical mathematical scheduling model used for MG operation is introduced, and the limitations of current methods are analyzed. Then, a two-stage optimal scheduling framework comprising day-ahead and intra-day stages is presented. The day-ahead part is solved by mixed integer linear programming (MILP), and the intra-day part uses a convolutional neural network (CNN)—bidirectional long short-term memory (Bi LSTM) for high-speed rolling decision making, with the outputs adjusted by a power correction balance algorithm. Some architects struggle to choose the best form of how the building meets the ground and may benefit from a suggestion based on precedents. This paper presents a novel proof of concept workflow that enables machine learning (ML) to automatically classify three-dimensional (3D) prototypes with respect to formulating the most appropriate building/ground relationship. Here, ML, a branch of artificial intelligence (AI), can ascertain the most appropriate relationship from a set of examples provided by trained architects. Moreover, the system classifies 3D prototypes of architectural precedent models based on a topological graph instead of 2D images. The system takes advantage of two primary technologies. The first is a software library that enhances the representation of 3D models through non-manifold topology (Topologic). The second is an end-to-end deep graph convolutional neural network (DGCNN). The experimental workflow in this paper consists of two stages. First, a generative simulation system for a 3D prototype of architectural precedents created a large synthetic database of building/ground relationships with numerous topological variations. This geometrical model then underwent conversion into semantically rich topological dual graphs. Second, the prototype architectural graphs were imported to the DGCNN model for graph classification. While using a unique data set prevents direct comparison, our experiments have shown that the proposed workflow achieves highly accurate results that align with DGCNN's performance on benchmark graphs. Artificial intelligence is changing and influencing our world. As one of the main algorithms in the field of artificial intelligence, convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have developed rapidly in recent years. Especially after the emergence of NASNet, CNNs have gradually pushed the idea of AutoML to the public's attention, and large numbers of new structures designed by automatic searches are appearing. These networks are usually based on reinforcement learning and evolutionary learning algorithms. However, sometimes, the blocks of these networks are complex, and there is no small model for simpler tasks. Therefore, this paper proposes POSS-CNN aiming at target recognition and detection, which employs a multi-branch CNN structure with PSNC and a method of automatic parallel selection for super parameters based on a multi-branch CNN structure. Moreover, POSS-CNN can be broken up. By choosing a single branch or the combination of two branches as the "benchmark", as well as the overall POSS-CNN, we can achieve seven models with different precision and operations. The test accuracy of POSS-CNN for a recognition task tested on a CIFAR10 dataset can reach 86.4%, which is equivalent to AlexNet and VggNet, but the operation and parameters of the whole model in this paper are 45.9% and 45.8% of AlexNet, and 29.5% and 29.4% of VggNet. The mAP of POSS-CNN for a detection task tested on the LSVH dataset is 45.8, inferior to the 62.3 of YOLOv3. However, compared with YOLOv3, the operation and parameters of the model in this paper are reduced by 57.4% and 15.6%, respectively. After being accelerated by WRA, POSS-CNN for a detection task tested on an LSVH dataset can achieve 27 fps, and the energy efficiency is 0.42 J/f, which is 5 times and 96.6 times better than GPU 2080Ti in performance and energy efficiency, respectively. Photovoltaic (PV) fault detection is crucial because undetected PV faults can lead to significant energy losses, with some cases experiencing losses of up to 10%. The efficiency of PV systems depends upon the reliable detection and diagnosis of faults. The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques has been a growing trend in addressing these issues. The goal of this systematic review is to offer a comprehensive overview of the recent advancements in AI-based methodologies for PV fault detection, consolidating the key findings from 31 research papers. An initial pool of 142 papers were identified, from which 31 were selected for in-depth review following the PRISMA guidelines. The title, objective, methods, and findings of each paper were analyzed, with a focus on machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) approaches. ML and DL are particularly suitable for PV fault detection because of their capacity to process and analyze large amounts of data to identify complex patterns and anomalies. This study identified several AI techniques used for fault detection in PV systems, ranging from classical ML methods like k-nearest neighbor (KNN) and random forest to more advanced deep learning models such as Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). Quantum circuits and infrared imagery were also explored as potential solutions. The analysis found that DL models, in general, outperformed traditional ML models in accuracy and efficiency. This study shows that AI methodologies have evolved and been increasingly applied in PV fault detection. The integration of AI in PV fault detection offers high accuracy and effectiveness. Deep learning integration in cancer diagnosis enhances accuracy and diagnosis speed which helps clinical decision-making and improves health outcomes. Despite all these benefits in cancer diagnosis, the present AI models in urology cancer diagnosis have not been sufficiently reviewed systematically. This paper reviews the artificial intelligence approaches used in cancer diagnosis, prediction, and treatment of urology cancer. AI models and their applications in urology subspecialties are evaluated and discussed. The Scopus, Microsoft Academic and PubMed/MEDLINE databases were searched in November 2022 using the terms "artificial intelligence", "neural network", "machine learning," or "deep learning" combined with the phrase "urology cancers". The search was limited to publications published within the previous 20 years to identify cutting-edge deep-learning applications published in English. Irrelevant review articles and publications were eliminated. The included research involves two kinds of research analysis: quantitative and qualitative. 48 articles were included in this survey. 25 studies proposed several approaches for prostate cancers, while 15 were for bladder cancers. 8 studies discussed renal cell carcinoma and kidney cancer. The models presented to detect urology cancers have achieved high detection accuracy (77–95%). Deep learning approaches that use convolutional neural networks have achieved the highest accuracy among other techniques. Although it is still progressing, the development of AI models for urology cancer detection, prediction, and therapy has shown significant promise. Additional research is required to employ more extensive, higher-quality, and more recent datasets to the clinical performance of the proposed AI models in urology cancer applications. Fire chemical sensing for indoor detection of fire plays an essential role because it can detect chemical volatiles before smoke particles, providing a faster and more reliable method for early fire detection. A thermal imaging camera and seven distinct fire-detecting sensors were used simultaneously to acquire the multimodal fire data that is the subject of this paper. The low-cost sensors typically have lower sensitivity and reliability, making it impossible for them to detect fire at greater distances. To go beyond the limitation of using solely sensors for identifying fire, the multimodal dataset is collected using a thermal camera that can detect temperature changes. The proposed pipeline uses image data from thermal cameras to train convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and their many versions. The training of sensors data (from fire sensors) uses bidirectional long-short memory (BiLSTM-Dense) and dense and long-short memory (LSTM-DenseDenseNet201), and the merging of both datasets demonstrates the performance of multimodal data. Researchers and system developers can use the dataset to create and hone cutting-edge artificial intelligence models and systems. Initial evaluation of the image dataset has shown densenet201 as the best approach with the highest validation parameters (0.99, 0.99, 0.99, and 0.08), i.e., Accuracy, Precision, Recall, and Loss, respectively. However, the sensors dataset has also shown the highest parameters with the BILSTM-Dense approach (0.95, 0.95, 0.95, 0.14). In a multimodal data approach, image and sensors deployed with a multimodal algorithm (densenet201 for image data and Bi LSTM- Dense for Sensors Data) has shown other parameters (1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 0.06). This work demonstrates that, in comparison to the conventional deep learning approach, the federated learning (FL) approach performs privacy-protected fire leakage classification without significantly sacrificing accuracy and other validation parameters. With the development of artificial intelligence, deep-learning-based log anomaly detection proves to be an important research topic. In this paper, we propose LogCSS, a novel log anomaly detection framework based on the Context-Semantics-Statistics Convolutional Neural Network (CSSCNN). It is the first model that uses BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representation from Transformers) and CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) to extract the semantic, temporal, and correlational features of the logs. We combine the features with the statistic information of log templates for the classification model to improve the accuracy. We also propose a technique, DOOT (Deals with the Out-Of-Templates), for online template matching. The experimental research shows that our framework improves the average F1 score of the six best algorithms in the industry by more than 5% on the open-source dataset HDFS, and improves the average F1 score of the six best algorithms in the industry by more than 8% on the BGL dataset, LogCSS also performs better than other similar methods on our own constructed dataset. This paper introduces an AI-based approach to detect human-made objects and changes in these on land parcels. To this end, we used binary image classification performed by a convolutional neural network. Binary classification requires the selection of a decision boundary, and we provided a deterministic method for this selection. Furthermore, we varied different parameters to improve the performance of our approach, leading to a true positive rate of 91.3% and a true negative rate of 63.0%. A specific application of our work supports the administration of agricultural land parcels eligible for subsidiaries. The recognition of steel microstructure images plays a crucial role in the metallographic analysis process. Although some progress has been made through the application of artificial intelligence algorithms, several challenges remain. First, existing algorithms exhibit weak nonlinear feature extraction capabilities and noticeable limitations. Second, they overlook the intrinsic noise and redundant interference present in microscopic images. To address these issues, this paper investigates the automatic recognition of metallographic tissues by leveraging residual structures in deep neural networks. An enhanced residual network model based on transfer learning is proposed, which utilizes the pre-trained weights from the ImageNet dataset to facilitate learning with small sample data. This network offers higher classification accuracy and higher F1 scores. In addition, a deep residual shrinkage network model based on an attention mechanism is proposed. This model incorporates an attention sub-network into the original residual module and employs a soft threshold function to eliminate redundant features, including noise. The proposed algorithms are evaluated against various convolutional neural networks using 20 types of metallographic test sets. The experimental results showed that both methods have high accuracy rates of 95% and 94.44%, respectively, and F1 scores of 0.9464 and 0.9419. While maintaining the complexity of the model, there has been a significant improvement in accuracy, and the models exhibit strong generalization capabilities. PV(photovoltaic) systems have been deployed more in the recent years to support green energy generation. In the recent era, grid tied PV has been sparked by the emergence of the electricity market and offers an alternative solution to traditional fossil fuel-based electricity generation. A few of the potential impacts of solar PV on grid are false tripping of feeders, unwanted tripping, unnecessary islanding, and blind protection. In this research paper, different artificial intelligence techniques are tested in order to overcome the protection challenges. The PSCAD/EMTDC software package is used to analyze a section of the power system, and an algorithm has been constructed using Python v3.8 and MATLAB 2018. On an IEEE-9 BUS power system connected to a PV source, the Artificial Neural Network, Naive Bayes, Support Vector Machine, Random Forest, and Convolution Neural Network (CNN) algorithms are implemented to classify the faults. The suggested methods are proven effective for both in-zone and out-of-zone problems on power lines interconnected with solar park. The proposed techniques have been validated using total 16,320 internal and external fault cases with a wide range of system parameters alteration. In the proposed system, the effectiveness of several machine learning and deep learning techniques is compared. The obtained results demonstrate that CNN provides greater accuracy in the presence of a PV source, but at the same time, it is appropriate for a large number of data sets. Neuroimaging experts in biotech industries can benefit from using cutting-edge artificial intelligence techniques for Alzheimer's disease (AD)- and dementia-stage prediction, even though it is difficult to anticipate the precise stage of dementia and AD. Therefore, we propose a cutting-edge, computer-assisted method based on an advanced deep learning algorithm to differentiate between people with varying degrees of dementia, including healthy, very mild dementia, mild dementia, and moderate dementia classes. In this paper, four separate models were developed for classifying different dementia stages: convolutional neural networks (CNNs) built from scratch, pre-trained VGG16 with additional convolutional layers, graph convolutional networks (GCNs), and CNN-GCN models. The CNNs were implemented, and then the flattened layer output was fed to the GCN classifier, resulting in the proposed CNN-GCN architecture. A total of 6400 whole-brain magnetic resonance imaging scans were obtained from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative database to train and evaluate the proposed methods. We applied the 5-fold cross-validation (CV) technique for all the models. We presented the results from the best fold out of the five folds in assessing the performance of the models developed in this study. Hence, for the best fold of the 5-fold CV, the above-mentioned models achieved an overall accuracy of 43.83%, 71.17%, 99.06%, and 100%, respectively. Early detection of plant leaf diseases is a major necessity for controlling the spread of infections and enhancing the quality of food crops. Recently, plant disease detection based on deep learning approaches has achieved better performance than current state-of-the-art methods. Hence, this paper utilized a convolutional neural network (CNN) to improve rice leaf disease detection efficiency. We present a modified YOLOv8, which replaces the original Box Loss function by our proposed combination of EIoU loss and α -IoU loss in order to improve the performance of the rice leaf disease detection system. A two-stage approach is proposed to achieve a high accuracy of rice leaf disease identification based on AI (artificial intelligence) algorithms. In the first stage, the images of rice leaf diseases in the field are automatically collected. Afterward, these image data are separated into blast leaf, leaf folder, and brown spot sets, respectively. In the second stage, after training the YOLOv8 model on our proposed image dataset, the trained model is deployed on IoT devices to detect and identify rice leaf diseases. In order to assess the performance of the proposed approach, a comparative study between our proposed method and the methods using YOLOv7 and YOLOv5 is conducted. The experimental results demonstrate that the accuracy of our proposed model in this research has reached up to 89.9% on the dataset of 3175 images with 2608 images for training, 326 images for validation, and 241 images for testing. The recognition of steel microstructure images plays a crucial role in the metallographic analysis process. Although some progress has been made through the application of artificial intelligence algorithms, several challenges remain. First, existing algorithms exhibit weak nonlinear feature extraction capabilities and noticeable limitations. Second, they overlook the intrinsic noise and redundant interference present in microscopic images. To address these issues, this paper investigates the automatic recognition of metallographic tissues by leveraging residual structures in deep neural networks. An enhanced residual network model based on transfer learning is proposed, which utilizes the pre-trained weights from the ImageNet dataset to facilitate learning with small sample data. This network offers higher classification accuracy and higher F1 scores. In addition, a deep residual shrinkage network model based on an attention mechanism is proposed. This model incorporates an attention sub-network into the original residual module and employs a soft threshold function to eliminate redundant features, including noise. The proposed algorithms are evaluated against various convolutional neural networks using 20 types of metallographic test sets. The experimental results showed that both methods have high accuracy rates of 95% and 94.44%, respectively, and F1 scores of 0.9464 and 0.9419. While maintaining the complexity of the model, there has been a significant improvement in accuracy, and the models exhibit strong generalization capabilities. In recent years, developments in the fields of computer vision and artificial intelligence have created new opportunities for studying sports performance. With advancements in computer vision and artificial intelligence, it is now possible to use massive volumes of video data to get deeper insights into sports dynamics, especially in precision-based video sports like table tennis. To develop skills, a thorough examination of player movements is required. With the development of vision-based human posture recognition, computers can function like humans and derive intelligent judgments from outside data. This paper presents a novel method that uses graph convolutional neural networks (GCNNs) to detect and identify improper postures and movements in table tennis players. In addition to conventional methods, the proposed method dissects the human skeleton into finely detailed head, trunk, and leg features. Deep-level features that offer a more comprehensive understanding of athlete movements are extracted after feeding these features into the network. The softmax classifier combines these features to produce the final recognition result. The effectiveness of this approach has been evaluated through extensive experimentation. The GCN model performs remarkably well, with accuracy rates of 86.4% on the NTU-RGB + D dataset and 79.1% on the COCO dataset. This accomplishment is significant because the model consistently yields accurate detection results, even in complex and occlusion-filled scenes. In comparison tests, the proposed model performs better than GraphSAGE, GAT, ChebNet, GIN, and GC-LSTM in identifying relevant body part movements in table tennis players while ignoring irrelevant ones. Estimating the axial force of rock bolts is vital for the stability and safety of underground excavations. Current methods suffer from being labor-intensive, time-consuming, and prone to inaccuracies. This paper presents a novel method for estimating the axial force of a rock bolt, a critical element in underground engineering, by analyzing the deformation field of the bearing plate. This innovative approach combines 3D laser scanning for data acquisition with a developed convolutional neural network (CNN) model for data processing, resulting in an efficient and non-destructive external monitoring technique. The proposed method was verified with 27 laboratory experiments. The results showed an accurate estimation of the axial forces of rock bolts with an average error of ± 5 kN, underlining the method's potential for in-situ application in underground engineering. This research not only contributes to the development of intelligent systems in rock mechanics and engineering but also has significant implications for industries, such as mining, tunneling, and underground engineering. Highlights: The study introduces a novel method that utilizes 3D laser scanning and a developed CNN model to accurately estimate the axial force of rock bolts. The proposed method achieves accurate estimations of rock bolts' axial forces with an average error of ± 5 kN. Objectives: To develop a deep learning methodology that distinguishes early from late stages of avascular necrosis of the hip (AVN) to determine treatment decisions. Methods: Three convolutional neural networks (CNNs) VGG-16, Inception ResnetV2, InceptionV3 were trained with transfer learning (ImageNet) and finetuned with a retrospectively collected cohort of (n = 104) MRI examinations of AVN patients, to differentiate between early (ARCO 1–2) and late (ARCO 3–4) stages. A consensus CNN ensemble decision was recorded as the agreement of at least two CNNs. CNN and ensemble performance was benchmarked on an independent cohort of 49 patients from another country and was compared to the performance of two MSK radiologists. CNN performance was expressed with areas under the curve (AUC), the respective 95% confidence intervals (CIs) and precision, and recall and f1-scores. AUCs were compared with DeLong's test. Results: On internal testing, Inception-ResnetV2 achieved the highest individual performance with an AUC of 99.7% (95%CI 99–100%), followed by InceptionV3 and VGG-16 with AUCs of 99.3% (95%CI 98.4–100%) and 97.3% (95%CI 95.5–99.2%) respectively. The CNN ensemble the same AUCs Inception ResnetV2. On external validation, model performance dropped with VGG-16 achieving the highest individual AUC of 78.9% (95%CI 51.6–79.6%) The best external performance was achieved by the model ensemble with an AUC of 85.5% (95%CI 72.2–93.9%). No significant difference was found between the CNN ensemble and expert MSK radiologists (p = 0.22 and 0.092 respectively). Conclusion: An externally validated CNN ensemble accurately distinguishes between the early and late stages of AVN and has comparable performance to expert MSK radiologists. Clinical relevance statement: This paper introduces the use of deep learning for the differentiation between early and late avascular necrosis of the hip, assisting in a complex clinical decision that can determine the choice between conservative and surgical treatment.
