Simple Summary: Breast cancer is a significant cause of female cancer-related deaths in the US. Checking how severe the cancer is helps in planning treatment. Modern AI methods are good at grading cancer, but they are not used much in hospitals yet. We developed and utilized ensemble deep learning algorithms for addressing the tasks of classifying (1) breast cancer subtype and (2) breast cancer invasiveness from whole slide image (WSI) histopathology slides. Our datasets were based on two widely employed datasets from different centers for two different tasks: BACH and BreakHis. Within the BACH dataset, a proposed ensemble strategy was employed, incorporating VGG16 and ResNet50 architectures to achieve precise classification of breast cancer histopathology images. Introducing a novel image patching technique to preprocess a high-resolution image facilitated a focused analysis of localized regions of interest. The annotated BACH dataset encompassed 400 WSIs across four distinct classes: Normal, Benign, In Situ Carcinoma, and Invasive Carcinoma. In addition, the proposed ensemble was used on the BreakHis dataset, utilizing VGG16, ResNet34, and ResNet50 models to classify microscopic images into eight distinct categories (four benign and four malignant). For both datasets, a five-fold cross-validation approach was employed for rigorous training and testing. Preliminary experimental results indicated a patch classification accuracy of 95.31% (for the BACH dataset) and WSI image classification accuracy of 98.43% (BreakHis). Background Music is an integral part of our lives and is often played in public places like restaurants. People exposed to music that contained alcohol-related lyrics in a bar scenario consumed significantly more alcohol than those exposed to music with less alcohol-related lyrics. Existing methods to quantify alcohol exposure in song lyrics have used manual annotation that is burdensome and time intensive. In this paper, we aim to build a deep learning algorithm (LYDIA) that can automatically detect and identify alcohol exposure and its context in song lyrics. Methods We identified 673 potentially alcohol-related words including brand names, urban slang, and beverage names. We collected all the lyrics from the Billboard's top-100 songs from 1959 to 2020 (N = 6110). We developed an annotation tool to annotate both the alcohol-relation of the word (alcohol, non-alcohol, or unsure) and the context (positive, negative, or neutral) of the word in the song lyrics. Results LYDIA achieved an accuracy of 86.6% in identifying the alcohol-relation of the word, and 72.9% in identifying its context. LYDIA can distinguish with an accuracy of 97.24% between the words that have positive and negative relation to alcohol; and with an accuracy of 98.37% between the positive and negative context. Conclusion LYDIA can automatically identify alcohol exposure and its context in song lyrics, which will allow for the swift analysis of future lyrics and can be used to help raise awareness about the amount of alcohol in music. The wrist is one of the most complex joints in our body, composed of eight bones. Therefore, measuring the angles of this intricate wrist movement can prove valuable in various fields such as sports analysis and rehabilitation. Textile stretch sensors can be easily produced by immersing an E-band in a SWCNT solution. The lightweight, cost-effective, and reproducible nature of textile stretch sensors makes them well suited for practical applications in clothing. In this paper, wrist angles were measured by attaching textile stretch sensors to an arm sleeve. Three sensors were utilized to measure all three axes of the wrist. Additionally, sensor precision was heightened through the utilization of the Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) technique, a subtype of deep learning. Rather than fixing the measurement values of each sensor to specific axes, we created an algorithm utilizing the coupling between sensors, allowing the measurement of wrist angles in three dimensions. Using this algorithm, the error angle of wrist angles measured with textile stretch sensors could be measured at less than 4.5°. Today is the era of ultra-age technology and practices for the betterment of the society. Drone is the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), which needs a path planning to reach up to the target. There are two basic modes for use of drone in case of military/surveillance: first is attack mode and defensive mode. Hence, this paper focuses on defensive mode as a scope of the proposed study. This paper provides significance of drone surveillance, a new artificial intelligence strategy to develop a predictive model based on the path planning. Further, based on the drone dataset, the UAV travel graph can be predicted and tested with a recursive machine learning algorithm. This strategy can be clubbed as an image path using deep learning algorithm also but to ensure the graph-based training and testing, the proposed research will use CNN algorithm for comparative analysis of simulated path's plan coordinates. Computer Vision (CV) has become an essential field in Artificial Intelligence applications. Object detection and recognition (ODR) is one of the fundamental tasks of computer vision implementations. However, developing an efficient ODR model is still a significant problem. The model's execution time and speed are the most critical features during the inference or detection and recognition process, which need to be improved using the latest object detection architectures. In this paper, the handwritten detection and recognition (HDR) model is developed based on previously known algorithms with their efficiency, such as Faster R-CNN and YOLOv4 in the first hand. On the other hand, two new models capable of detecting and recognizing handwritten digits using the latest ODR algorithm are proposed, one based on the latest YOLO family architecture (YOLOv5-HDR) with high speed and accuracy and the other using the transformers architecture (DETR). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to achieve a details comparison between YOLOv5 and transformers-based models in handwritten digit detection. Finally, the detailed performance analysis achieved by the paper proves that the YOLOv4-based model achieved the testing inference 13% faster than Faster R-CNN. However, the proposed YOLOv5-based model outperformed the YOLOv4 and the transformers-based one as it increased the testing execution time 25% faster than the YOLOv4, three times faster than the DETR model. A further adversarial attack test has been conducted to ensure the robust performance of the proposed model. Furthermore, numerical experiment results and their analyses demonstrate the robustness and effectiveness of the proposed YOLOv5-based model being the most stable for handwritten digit detection and recognition tasks. Recent innovations in artificial intelligence (AI)-based techniques for skin lesion image interpretation show potential for the use of AI in the early detection of melanoma. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the current state of AI-based techniques used in combination with non-invasive diagnostic imaging modalities including reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM), optical coherence tomography (OCT), and dermoscopy. We also aimed to determine whether the application of AI-based techniques can lead to improved diagnostic accuracy of melanoma. Methods: A systematic search was conducted via the Medline/PubMed, Cochrane, and Embase databases for eligible publications between 2018 and 2022. Screening methods adhered to the 2020 version of the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines. Included studies utilized AI-based algorithms for melanoma detection and directly addressed the review objectives. Results: We retrieved 40 papers amongst the three databases. All studies directly comparing the performance of AI-based techniques with dermatologists reported the superior or equivalent performance of AI-based techniques in improving the detection of melanoma. In studies directly comparing algorithm performance on dermoscopy images to dermatologists, AI-based algorithms achieved a higher ROC (>80%) in the detection of melanoma. In these comparative studies using dermoscopic images, the mean algorithm sensitivity was 83.01% and the mean algorithm specificity was 85.58%. Studies evaluating machine learning in conjunction with OCT boasted accuracy of 95%, while studies evaluating RCM reported a mean accuracy rate of 82.72%. Conclusions: Our results demonstrate the robust potential of AI-based techniques to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes through the early identification of melanoma. Further studies are needed to assess the generalizability of these AI-based techniques across different populations and skin types, improve standardization in image processing, and further compare the performance of AI-based techniques with board-certified dermatologists to evaluate clinical applicability. Chip pad inspection is of great practical importance for chip alignment inspection and correction. It is one of the key technologies for automated chip inspection in semiconductor manufacturing. When applying deep learning methods for chip pad inspection, the main problem to be solved is how to ensure the accuracy of small target pad detection and, at the same time, achieve a lightweight inspection model. The attention mechanism is widely used to improve the accuracy of small target detection by finding the attention region of the network. However, conventional attention mechanisms capture feature information locally, which makes it difficult to effectively improve the detection efficiency of small targets from complex backgrounds in target detection tasks. In this paper, an OCAM (Object Convolution Attention Module) attention module is proposed to build long-range dependencies between channel features and position features by constructing feature contextual relationships to enhance the correlation between features. By adding the OCAM attention module to the feature extraction layer of the YOLOv5 network, the detection performance of chip pads is effectively improved. In addition, a design guideline for the attention layer is proposed in the paper. The attention layer is adjusted by network scaling to avoid network characterization bottlenecks, balance network parameters, and network detection performance, and reduce the hardware device requirements for the improved YOLOv5 network in practical scenarios. Extensive experiments on chip pad datasets, VOC datasets, and COCO datasets show that the approach in this paper is more general and superior to several state-of-the-art methods. Simple Summary: Accurately grading gliomas, which are the most common and aggressive malignant brain tumors in adults, poses a significant challenge for radiologists. This study explores the application of Deep Learning techniques in assisting tumor grading using Magnetic Resonance Images (MRIs). By analyzing a glioma database sourced from multiple public datasets and comparing different settings, the aim of this study is to develop a robust and reliable grading system. The study demonstrates that by focusing on the tumor region of interest and augmenting the available data, there is a significant improvement in both the accuracy and confidence of tumor grade classifications. While successful in differentiating low-grade gliomas from high-grade gliomas, the accurate classification of grades 2, 3, and 4 remains challenging. The research findings have significant implications for advancing the development of a non-invasive, robust, and trustworthy data-driven system to support clinicians in the diagnosis and therapy planning of glioma patients. Glioma is the most common type of tumor in humans originating in the brain. According to the World Health Organization, gliomas can be graded on a four-stage scale, ranging from the most benign to the most malignant. The grading of these tumors from image information is a far from trivial task for radiologists and one in which they could be assisted by machine-learning-based decision support. However, the machine learning analytical pipeline is also fraught with perils stemming from different sources, such as inadvertent data leakage, adequacy of 2D image sampling, or classifier assessment biases. In this paper, we analyze a glioma database sourced from multiple datasets using a simple classifier, aiming to obtain a reliable tumor grading and, on the way, we provide a few guidelines to ensure such reliability. Our results reveal that by focusing on the tumor region of interest and using data augmentation techniques we significantly enhanced the accuracy and confidence in tumor classifications. Evaluation on an independent test set resulted in an AUC-ROC of 0.932 in the discrimination of low-grade gliomas from high-grade gliomas, and an AUC-ROC of 0.893 in the classification of grades 2, 3, and 4. Traditional path planning is mainly utilized for path planning in discrete action space, which results in incomplete ship navigation power propulsion strategies during the path search process. Moreover, reinforcement learning experiences low success rates due to its unbalanced sample collection and unreasonable design of reward function. In this paper, an environment framework is designed, which is constructed using the Box2D physics engine and employs a reward function, with the distance between the agent and arrival point as the main, and the potential field superimposed by boundary control, obstacles, and arrival point as the supplement. We also employ the state-of-the-art PPO (Proximal Policy Optimization) algorithm as a baseline for global path planning to address the issue of incomplete ship navigation power propulsion strategy. Additionally, a Beta policy-based distributed sample collection PPO algorithm is proposed to overcome the problem of unbalanced sample collection in path planning by dividing sub-regions to achieve distributed sample collection. The experimental results show the following: (1) The distributed sample collection training policy exhibits stronger robustness in the PPO algorithm; (2) The introduced Beta policy for action sampling results in a higher path planning success rate and reward accumulation than the Gaussian policy at the same training time; (3) When planning a path of the same length, the proposed Beta policy-based distributed sample collection PPO algorithm generates a smoother path than traditional path planning algorithms, such as A*, IDA*, and Dijkstra. Deep learning models have achieved high performance across different domains, such as medical decision-making, autonomous vehicles, decision support systems, among many others. However, despite this success, the inner mechanisms of these models are opaque because their internal representations are too complex for a human to understand. This opacity makes it hard to understand the how or the why of the predictions of deep learning models. There has been a growing interest in model-agnostic methods that make deep learning models more transparent and explainable to humans. Some researchers recently argued that for a machine to achieve human-level explainability, this machine needs to provide human causally understandable explanations, also known as causability. A specific class of algorithms that have the potential to provide causability are counterfactuals. This paper presents an in-depth systematic review of the diverse existing literature on counterfactuals and causability for explainable artificial intelligence (AI). We performed a Latent Dirichlet topic modelling analysis (LDA) under a Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) framework to find the most relevant literature articles. This analysis yielded a novel taxonomy that considers the grounding theories of the surveyed algorithms, together with their underlying properties and applications to real-world data. Our research suggests that current model-agnostic counterfactual algorithms for explainable AI are not grounded on a causal theoretical formalism and, consequently, cannot promote causability to a human decision-maker. Furthermore, our findings suggest that the explanations derived from popular algorithms in the literature provide spurious correlations rather than cause/effects relationships, leading to sub-optimal, erroneous, or even biased explanations. Advanced mathematical and deep learning (DL) algorithms have recently played a crucial role in diagnosing medical parameters and diseases. One of these areas that need to be more focused on is dentistry. This is why creating digital twins of dental issues in the metaverse is a practical and effective technique to benefit from the immersive characteristics of this technology and adapt the real world of dentistry to the virtual world. These technologies can create virtual facilities and environments for patients, physicians, and researchers to access a variety of medical services. Experiencing an immersive interaction between doctors and patients can be another considerable advantage of these technologies, which can dramatically improve the efficiency of the healthcare system. In addition, offering these amenities through a blockchain system enhances reliability, safety, openness, and the ability to trace data exchange. It also brings about cost savings through improved efficiencies. In this paper, a digital twin of cervical vertebral maturation (CVM), which is a critical factor in a wide range of dental surgery, within a blockchain-based metaverse platform is designed and implemented. A DL method has been used to create an automated diagnosis process for the upcoming CVM images in the proposed platform. This method includes MobileNetV2, a mobile architecture that improves the performance of mobile models in multiple tasks and benchmarks. The proposed technique of digital twinning is simple, fast, and suitable for physicians and medical specialists, as well as for adapting to the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) due to its low latency and computing costs. One of the important contributions of the current study is to use of DL-based computer vision as a real-time measurement method so that the proposed digital twin does not require additional sensors. Furthermore, a comprehensive conceptual framework for creating digital twins of CVM based on MobileNetV2 within a blockchain ecosystem has been designed and implemented, showing the applicability and suitability of the introduced approach. In this paper, a structural health monitoring (SHM) system is proposed to provide automatic early warning for detecting damage and its location in composite pipelines at an early stage. The study considers a basalt fiber reinforced polymer (BFRP) pipeline with an embedded Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensory system and first discusses the shortcomings and challenges with incorporating FBG sensors for accurate detection of damage information in pipelines. The novelty and the main focus of this study is, however, a proposed approach that relies on designing an integrated sensing-diagnostic SHM system that has the capability to detect damage in composite pipelines at an early stage via implementation of an artificial intelligence (AI)-based algorithm combining deep learning and other efficient machine learning methods using an Enhanced Convolutional Neural Network (ECNN) without retraining the model. The proposed architecture replaces the softmax layer by a k-Nearest Neighbor (k-NN) algorithm for inference. Finite element models are developed and calibrated by the results of pipe measurements under damage tests. The models are then used to assess the patterns of the strain distributions of the pipeline under internal pressure loading and under pressure changes due to bursts, and to find the relationship of strains at different locations axially and circumferentially. A prediction algorithm for pipe damage mechanisms using distributed strain patterns is also developed. The ECNN is designed and trained to identify the condition of pipe deterioration so the initiation of damage can be detected. The strain results from the current method and the available experimental results in the literature show excellent agreement. The average error between the ECNN data and FBG sensor data is 0.093%, thus confirming the reliability and accuracy of the proposed method. Background: Auditory–perceptual assessment of voice is a subjective procedure. Artificial intelligence with deep learning (DL) may improve the consistency and accessibility of this task. It is unclear how a DL model performs on different acoustic features. Aims: To develop a generalizable DL framework for identifying dysphonia using a multidimensional acoustic feature. Methods & Procedures: Recordings of sustained phonations of /a/ and /i/ were retrospectively collected from a clinical database. Subjects contained 238 dysphonic and 223 vocally healthy speakers of Chinese Mandarin. All audio clips were split into multiple 1.5‐s segments and normalized to the same loudness level. Mel frequency cepstral coefficients and mel‐spectrogram were extracted from these standardized segments. Each set of features was used in a convolutional neural network (CNN) to perform a binary classification task. The best feature was obtained through a five‐fold cross‐validation on a random selection of 80% data. The resultant DL framework was tested on the remaining 20% data and a public German voice database. The performance of the DL framework was compared with those of two baseline machine‐learning models. Outcomes & Results: The mel‐spectrogram yielded the best model performance, with a mean area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.972 and an accuracy of 92% in classifying audio segments. The resultant DL framework significantly outperformed both baseline models in detecting dysphonic subjects on both test sets. The best outcomes were achieved when classifications were made based on all segments of both vowels, with 95% accuracy, 92% recall, 98% precision and 98% specificity on the Chinese test set, and 92%, 95%, 90% and 89%, respectively, on the German set. Conclusions & Implications: This study demonstrates the feasibility of DL for automatic detection of dysphonia. The mel‐spectrogram is a preferred acoustic feature for the task. This framework may be used for vocal health screening and facilitate automatic perceptual evaluation of voice in the era of big data. DL is a new method of artificial intelligence that can overcome these disadvantages and promote automatic voice assessment. This study explored the feasibility of a DL approach for automatic detection of dysphonia, along with a quantitative comparison of two common sets of acoustic features. What this study adds to existing knowledge: A CNN model is excellent at decoding multidimensional acoustic features, outperforming the baseline parameter‐based models in identifying dysphonic voices. The first 13 mel‐frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCCs) are sufficient for this task. The mel‐spectrogram results in greater performance, indicating the acoustic features are presented in a more favourable way than the MFCCs to the CNN model. Quality inspection in the industrial production field is experiencing a strong technological development that benefits from the combination of vision-based techniques with artificial intelligence algorithms. This paper initially addresses the problem of defect identification for circularly symmetric mechanical components, characterized by the presence of periodic elements. In the specific case of knurled washers, we compare the performances of a standard algorithm for the analysis of grey-scale image with a Deep Learning (DL) approach. The standard algorithm is based on the extraction of pseudo-signals derived from the conversion of the grey scale image of concentric annuli. In the DL approach, the component inspection is shifted from the entire sample to specific areas repeated along the object profile where the defect may occur. The standard algorithm provides better results in terms of accuracy and computational time with respect to the DL approach. Nevertheless, DL reaches accuracy higher than 99% when performance is evaluated targeting the identification of damaged teeth. Objectives: In recent years, the brain‑like navigation algorithm is a new research hotspot, which is expected to achieve autonomous navigation by imitating the ability of biological navigation. The core is‑ sue is how to improve generalization ability. Methods: This paper introduces the research background and theoretical basis of the brain‑like navigation algorithm. After investigation, we propose a computational framework of brain ‑ like navigation algorithm. The outstanding works in this field are discussed and analyzed under this framework, and we carried out experimental verification of some basic methods. Results： The main contributions of this paper are: (1) Comprehensively introduces and summarizes the theoretical basis and outstanding works in this field. (2) Proposes the computational framework of the brain‑like navigation algorithm, which scientifically defines the functions of different modules of the algorithm. Self-collision detection is fundamental to the safe operation of multi-manipulator systems, especially when cooperating in highly dynamic working environments. Existing methods still face the problem that detection efficiency and accuracy cannot be achieved at the same time. In this paper, we introduce artificial intelligence technology into the control system. Based on the Gilbert-Johnson-Keerthi (GJK) algorithm, we generated a dataset and trained a deep neural network (DLNet) to improve the detection efficiency. By combining DLNet and the GJK algorithm, we propose a two-level self-collision detection algorithm (DLGJK algorithm) to solve real-time self-collision detection problems in a dual-manipulator system with fast-continuous and high-precision properties. First, the proposed algorithm uses DLNet to determine whether the current working state of the system has a risk of self-collision; since most of the working states in a system workspace do not have a self-collision risk, DLNet can effectively reduce the number of unnecessary detections and improve the detection efficiency. Then, for the working states with a risk of self-collision, we modeled precise colliders and applied the GJK algorithm for fine self-collision detection, which achieved detection accuracy. The experimental results showed that compared to that with the global use of the GJK algorithm for self-collision detection, the DLGJK algorithm can reduce the time expectation of a single detection in a system workspace by 97.7%. In the path planning of the manipulators, it could effectively reduce the number of unnecessary detections, improve the detection efficiency, and reduce system overhead. Simple Summary: Breast cancer is the most common cancer, which resulted in the death of 700,000 people around the world in 2020. Various imaging modalities have been utilized to detect and analyze breast cancer. However, the manual detection of cancer from large-size images produced by these imaging modalities is usually time-consuming and can be inaccurate. Early and accurate detection of breast cancer plays a critical role in improving the prognosis bringing the patient survival rate to 50%. Recently, some artificial-intelligence-based approaches such as deep learning algorithms have shown remarkable advancements in early breast cancer diagnosis. This review focuses first on the introduction of various breast cancer imaging modalities and their available public datasets, then on proposing the most recent studies considering deep-learning-based models for breast cancer analysis. This study systemically summarizes various imaging modalities, relevant public datasets, deep learning architectures used for different imaging modalities, model performances for different tasks such as classification and segmentation, and research directions. Breast cancer is among the most common and fatal diseases for women, and no permanent treatment has been discovered. Thus, early detection is a crucial step to control and cure breast cancer that can save the lives of millions of women. For example, in 2020, more than 65% of breast cancer patients were diagnosed in an early stage of cancer, from which all survived. Although early detection is the most effective approach for cancer treatment, breast cancer screening conducted by radiologists is very expensive and time-consuming. More importantly, conventional methods of analyzing breast cancer images suffer from high false-detection rates. Different breast cancer imaging modalities are used to extract and analyze the key features affecting the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. These imaging modalities can be divided into subgroups such as mammograms, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, histopathological images, or any combination of them. Radiologists or pathologists analyze images produced by these methods manually, which leads to an increase in the risk of wrong decisions for cancer detection. Thus, the utilization of new automatic methods to analyze all kinds of breast screening images to assist radiologists to interpret images is required. Recently, artificial intelligence (AI) has been widely utilized to automatically improve the early detection and treatment of different types of cancer, specifically breast cancer, thereby enhancing the survival chance of patients. Advances in AI algorithms, such as deep learning, and the availability of datasets obtained from various imaging modalities have opened an opportunity to surpass the limitations of current breast cancer analysis methods. In this article, we first review breast cancer imaging modalities, and their strengths and limitations. Then, we explore and summarize the most recent studies that employed AI in breast cancer detection using various breast imaging modalities. The current 3D human body reconstruction technology requires complex external equipment to scan all angles of the human body, which is complicated to be implemented and cannot be popularized. In order to solve this problem, this paper applies deep learning models on reconstructing 3D human body based on monocular images. First of all, this paper uses Stacked Hourglass network to perform convolution operations on monocular images collected from different views. Then Multi-Layer Perceptrons (MLPs) are used to decode the encoded high-level images. The feature codes in the two views(main and side) are fused, and the interior and exterior points are classified by the fusion features, so as to obtain the corresponding 3D occupancy field. At last, the Marching Cube algorithm is used for 3D reconstruction with a specific threshold and then we use Laplace smoothing algorithm to remove artifacts. This paper proposes a dense sampling strategy based on the important joint points of the human body, which has a certain optimization effect on the realization of high-precision 3D reconstruction. The performance of the proposed scheme has been validated on the open source datasets, MGN dataset and the THuman dataset, provided by Tsinghua University. Background and Aims. Diagnosing pediatric intussusception from ultrasound images can be a difficult task in many primary care hospitals that lack experienced radiologists. To address this challenge, this study developed an artificial intelligence- (AI-) based system for automatic detection of "concentric circles" signs on ultrasound images, thereby improving the efficiency and accuracy of pediatric intussusception diagnosis. Methods. A total of 440 cases (373 pediatric intussusception and 67 normal cases) were retrospectively collected from Children's Hospital affiliated to Zhejiang University School of Medicine from January 2020 to December 2020. An improved Faster RCNN deep learning framework was used to detect "concentric circle" signs. Finally, independent validation set was used to evaluate the performance of the developed AI tool. Results. The data of pediatric intussusception were divided into a training set and validation set according to the ratio of 8 : 2, with training set (298 pediatric intussusception) and validation set (75 pediatric intussusception and 67 normal cases). In the "concentric circle" detection model, the detection rate, recall, specificity, and F 1 score assessed by the validation set were 92.8%, 95.0%, 92.2%, and 86.4%, respectively. Pediatric intussusception was classified by "concentric circle" signs, and the accuracy, recall, specificity, and F 1 score were 93.0%, 92.0%, 94.1%, and 93.2% on the validation set, respectively. Conclusion. The model established in this paper can realize the automatic detection of "concentric circle" signs in the ultrasound images of abdominal intussusception in children; the AI tool can improve the diagnosis speed of pediatric intussusception. It is necessary to further develop an artificial intelligence system for real-time detection of "concentric circles" in ultrasound images for the judgment of children with intussusception. E-commerce platforms apply recommendation technology to a wide variety of commercial websites to help users quickly find the product they need from a large number of products. At present, recommendation systems have been widely used in large-scale e-commerce websites, and most e-commerce shopping websites attract customers through the image information of goods. In this paper, the research status of content-based image retrieval algorithms is analysed, and how to use image content information to recommend goods is studied. A hierarchical commodity classification and retrieval system are designed. A class decision layer is used to determine the category of commodity images and then precisely retrieve the corresponding category of commodity image features. The corresponding relationship between different commodity visual features is used to recommend commodities, and a matching recommendation algorithm for commodities is proposed. Experiments show that the proposed image content-based recommendation method can coordinate with features, and its recommendation results have high accuracy in practical applications. This paper presents a deep learning‐based face recognition device. It aims to instantly remind users of the identities of those who they met before in parties or conferences. When greeted, one, who is correctly identified, may frequently feel more respected than another who is mistaken for someone else in the first place. The golden rule suggests one to treat others with respect, and then others will treat the one with respect in return. Empirically, making others feel respected can definitely facilitate communication among people for social and particularly business purposes. For this sake, this paper employed a pair of smart glasses as a hardware platform into which a deep learning‐based multi‐task cascaded convolutional networks and a FaceNet algorithm were integrated. This move provided a high face recognition accuracy and a strong robustness. In the end, this smart device as intended recognized captured images and displayed the identities of matched contacts in a face image database. Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) is presently one of the most popular techniques for analysing the dynamic states in brain images using various kinds of algorithms. From the last decade, there is an exponential rise in the use of the machine and deep learning algorithms of artificial intelligence for analysing fMRI data. However, it is a big challenge for every researcher to choose a suitable machine or deep learning algorithm for analysing fMRI data due to the availability of a large number of algorithms in the literature. It takes much time for each researcher to know about the various approaches and algorithms which are in use for fMRI data. This paper provides a review in a systematic manner for the present literature of fMRI data that makes use of the machine and deep learning algorithms. The major goals of this review paper are to (a) identify machine learning and deep learning research trends for the implementation of fMRI; (b) identify usage of Machine Learning Algorithms and deep learning in fMRI, and (c) help new researchers based on fMRI to put their new findings appropriately in existing domain of fMRI research. Artificial intelligence speech recognition mostly judges the accuracy of grammar or sentence in the detection of pronunciation error, but has little research on pronunciation judgment, so it cannot effectively correct the pronunciation. This study analyzes the application of image target recognition in English learning task. Task-based approach emphasizes the process of English learning, not the result, the purposeful communication and meaning expression, encourages learners to open their mouths, and emphasizes that English language learning activities and their tasks are realistic in life. In addition, this paper introduces the DNN adaptive technique based on KL divergence regularization to adapt the acoustic model. Finally, this paper uses the experimental contrast method to compare and analyze the algorithm of this research with the traditional algorithm. Neural network algorithms and intelligent algorithms are hot topics in the field of deep learning. In this study, the neural network algorithm and intelligence are optimized, and it is used in simulation experiments to improve the target image recognition ability of the algorithm in the machine vision environment. First, this paper introduces the application of neural networks in the field of machine vision. Second, in the experiment, the improved VGG-16 convolutional neural network (CNN) model is applied to metal block defect detection. Experimental results show that the optimized network can classify metal block defects with the maximum accuracy of 99.28%. Then, the intelligent algorithm based on neural network is studied, and the CIFAR-10 data set is taken as the experimental target for training test and verification test. Using BP algorithm, particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO-BP), and improved neural network algorithm, respectively, the convergence speed of ICS algorithm based on BP neural network is compared. This paper illustrates the efficacy of an artificial intelligence (AI) (a convolutional neural network, based on the U-Net), for the burn-depth assessment using semantic segmentation of polarized high-performance light camera images of burn wounds. The proposed method is evaluated for paediatric scald injuries to differentiate four burn wound depths: superficial partial-thickness (healing in 0-7 days), superficial to intermediate partial-thickness (healing in 8-13 days), intermediate to deep partial-thickness (healing in 14-20 days), deep partial-thickness (healing after 21 days) and full-thickness burns, based on observed healing time. In total 100 burn images were acquired. Seventeen images contained all 4 burn depths and were used to train the network. Leave-one-out cross-validation reports were generated and an accuracy and dice coefficient average of almost 97% was then obtained. After that, the remaining 83 burn-wound images were evaluated using the different network during the cross-validation, achieving an accuracy and dice coefficient, both on average 92%. This technique offers an interesting new automated alternative for clinical decision support to assess and localize burn-depths in 2D digital images. The decision tree algorithm and neural networks have been used and to generate an English teaching assessment implementation model based on decision tree technologies. It provides valuable data from extensive information, summarizes rules and data, and helps teachers to improve their education and the English scores of students. With the development of information technology, the rise of surveying and mapping big data and artificial intelligence, the lack of data is no longer a problem. However, the existing surveying and mapping data processing technology has been pursuing the accuracy of data (micro), and big data research just allows the data to be mixed and uncertain (macro). Therefore, although the traditional surveying and mapping data processing theory has accumulated a large number of technical advantages in micro data processing, the large‑scale and complexity of big data has become increasingly prominent, in which traditional calculation model and analysis algorithm cannot effectively support the efficient analysis and processing of big data. As the key to the intelligent era, data processing theory and method, how to adapt to the challenges and opportunities of new technology is worth our deep thinking. Driven by big data, new ideas and methods such as large‑scale data mining, machine learning and deep learning are booming, which greatly promote the fusion of multi‑source heterogeneous big data inside and outside the scene, effectively extract surface feature information from a variety of sensor data, and constantly improve the ability of surveying and mapping information acquisition and analysis. In this paper, considering year 2020 and Covid-19, we analyze medical imaging tools and their performance scores in accordance with the dataset size and their complexity. For this, we mainly consider AI-driven tools that employ two different types of image data, namely chest Computed Tomography (CT) and X-ray. We elaborate on their strengths and weaknesses by taking the following important factors into account: i) dataset size; ii) model fitting criteria (over-fitting and under-fitting); iii) transfer learning in the deep learning era; and iv) data augmentation. Medical imaging tools do not explicitly analyze model fitting. Also, using transfer learning, with fewer data, one could possibly build Covid-19 deep learning model but they are limited to education and training. We observe that, in both image modalities, neither the dataset size nor does data augmentation work well for Covid-19 screening purposes because a large dataset does not guarantee all possible Covid-19 manifestations and data augmentation does not create new Covid-19 cases. Thus, various technologies that allow for the fast detection of COVID-19 infections with high accuracy can offer healthcare professionals much-needed help. This study is aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of the state-of-the-art pretrained Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) on the automatic diagnosis of COVID-19 from chest X-rays (CXRs). The dataset used in the experiments consists of 1200 CXR images from individuals with COVID-19, 1345 CXR images from individuals with viral pneumonia, and 1341 CXR images from healthy individuals. In this paper, the effectiveness of artificial intelligence (AI) in the rapid and precise identification of COVID-19 from CXR images has been explored based on different pretrained deep learning algorithms and fine-tuned to maximise detection accuracy to identify the best algorithms. The results showed that deep learning with X-ray imaging is useful in collecting critical biological markers associated with COVID-19 infections. VGG16 and MobileNet obtained the highest accuracy of 98.28%. However, VGG16 outperformed all other models in COVID-19 detection with an accuracy, F1 score, precision, specificity, and sensitivity of 98.72%, 97.59%, 96.43%, 98.70%, and 98.78%, respectively. The outstanding performance of these pretrained models can significantly improve the speed and accuracy of COVID-19 diagnosis. However, a larger dataset of COVID-19 X-ray images is required for a more accurate and reliable identification of COVID-19 infections when using deep transfer learning. It is a challenge for existing artificial intelligence algorithms to deal with incomplete information of computer tactical wargames in military research, and one effective method is to take advantage of game replays based on data mining or supervised learning. However, the open source datasets of wargame replays are extremely rare, which obstruct the development of research on computer wargames. In this paper, a data set of wargame replays is opened for predicting algorithm on the condition of incomplete information, to be specific, we propose the dataset processing method for deep learning and an network model for enemy locations predicting. We first introduce the criteria and methods of data preprocessing, parsing and feature extraction, then the training set and test set for deep learning are predefined. Furthermore, we have designed a newly specific network model for enemy locations predicting, including multi-head input, multi-head output, CNN and GRU layers to deal with the multi-agent and long-term memory problems. In recent years, remarkable strides have been made in the domain of text recognition, primarily driven by deep learning-based models. These models eliminate the need for manual feature processing and excel in recognizing text even within complex scenes, surpassing the performance of traditional text recognition methods and subsequently emerging as the dominant approach. The objective of this paper is to present a comprehensive survey of both text detection and text recognition models. Firstly, we systematically categorize and provide an overview of existing off-the-shelf text detection methods. Subsequently, we conduct an in-depth investigation of six distinct text recognition models, taking into account their unique implementations. Additionally, we explore and analyze the principal datasets that currently prevail in the field of text detection and recognition. Furthermore, this research entails a meticulous performance comparison of various text detection algorithms on the CTW1500, TotalText, and ICDAR2015 datasets. Additionally, we evaluate and scrutinize the efficacy of mainstream text recognition algorithms on the IIIT-5K, SVT, ICDAR2013, SVT-P, CUTE80, and ICDAR2015 datasets. Deep reinforcement learning (DRL) is a promising technology to address the resource allocation problem for efficient data transmission in complex network environments. However, most DRL-based resource allocation algorithms suffer from limited feature extraction capabilities and lack scalability and generalization, especially in heterogeneous Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) environments. In this paper, we develop a lifelong learning architecture that can integrate artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms into the heterogeneous IIoT network for efficient data transmission. Based on this, we propose an intelligent resource allocation algorithm based on dual-attention DRL (DADR) for forwarding node selection and channel access slot allocation in a specific network environment. The proposed DADR algorithm combines the advantages of multi-dimension convolutional attention and multi-head self-attention mechanisms. It can provide local- and global-feature fusion capabilities for distributed nodes while maximizing the performance of data transmission. Furthermore, we present a lifelong federated meta reinforcement learning (LFMRL) that can effectively utilize prior knowledge and enable the DRL agent quickly adapt to a new environment. Specifically, LFMRL adopts a federated meta learning-based knowledge fusion algorithm to fuse the knowledge of learned DADR algorithms and iteratively update the shared model, thereby improving the scalability and generalization of the shared model in heterogeneous IIoT environments. In addition, a simple and efficient knowledge transfer mechanism is enabled to accelerate the DRL model convergence by transferring the knowledge of the shared model to the new environment. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms in terms of energy efficiency, data transmission reliability, and network stability. Summary: Many of the modern deep learning, machine learning, and artificial intelligence algorithms use adders, multipliers, and multiply‐accumulators (MACs) with mixed precisions. In general, fixed‐point and floating‐point adders, multipliers, and MACs are used in mixed‐precision hardware, such that the above algorithm can choose appropriate hardware for its processing. This paper proposes an efficient mixed‐precision MAC circuit that can perform fixed‐point and floating‐point operations. The proposed design uses Han‐Carlson adder with late carry or end‐around carry in its accumulator design; as a result, delay and energy of the circuit reduce by 21.46% and 22.54% respectively, when compared with the existing designs from the literature. Nature-inspired algorithms have been developed with biological mimicking. Machine learning algorithms from artificial neurons and artificial neural networks have been developed to mimic the human brain with synthetic neurons. This research can be traced back to the 1940s and has been expanded to agri-food problem solving in the last three decades. Now, the research and applications have entered the stage of deep learning with more layers and neurons that have complex connections to extract deep features of the target. In this paper, the developments of artificial neural networks and deep learning algorithms are presented and discussed in conjunction with their biological connections for agri-food applications. The related independent studies previously conducted by the author are summarized with the newly conducted being presented. In recent years, with the development of computer science, deep learning is held as competent enough to solve the problem of inference and learning in high dimensional space. Therefore, it has received unprecedented attention from both the academia and the business community. Compared with CPU/GPU, FPGA has attracted much attention for its high-energy efficiency, short development cycle and reconfigurability in the aspect of deep learning algorithm. However, because of the limited research on OpenCL optimization on FPGA of deep learning algorithms, OpenCL tools and models applied to CPU/GPU cannot be directly used on FPGA. This makes it difficult for software programmers to use FPGA when implementing deep learning algorithms for a rewarding performance. To solve this problem, this paper proposed an OpenCL computational model based on FPGA template architecture to optimize the time-consuming convolution layer in deep learning. The comparison between the program applying the computational model and the corresponding optimization program provided by Xilinx indicates that the former is 8-40 times higher than the latter in terms of performance. Big web data from sources including online news and Twitter are good resources for investigating deep learning. However, collected news articles and tweets almost certainly contain data unnecessary for learning, and this disturbs accurate learning. This paper explores the performance of word2vec Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) to classify news articles and tweets into related and unrelated ones. Using two word embedding algorithms of word2vec, Continuous Bag-of-Word (CBOW) and Skip-gram, we constructed CNN with the CBOW model and CNN with the Skip-gram model. We measured the classification accuracy of CNN with CBOW, CNN with Skip-gram, and CNN without word2vec models for real news articles and tweets. The experimental results indicated that word2vec significantly improved the accuracy of the classification model. The accuracy of the CBOW model was higher and more stable when compared to that of the Skip-gram model. The CBOW model exhibited better performance on news articles, and the Skip-gram model exhibited better performance on tweets. Specifically, CNN with word2vec models was more effective on news articles when compared to that on tweets because news articles are typically more uniform when compared to tweets. Financial markets play an important role on the economical and social organization of modern society. In these kinds of markets, information is an invaluable asset. However, with the modernization of the financial transactions and the information systems, the large amount of information available for a trader can make prohibitive the analysis of a financial asset. In the last decades, many researchers have attempted to develop computational intelligent methods and algorithms to support the decision-making in different financial market segments. In the literature, there is a huge number of scientific papers that investigate the use of computational intelligence techniques to solve financial market problems. However, only few studies have focused on review the literature of this topic. Most of the existing review articles have a limited scope, either by focusing on a specific financial market application or by focusing on a family of machine learning algorithms. This paper presents a review of the application of several computational intelligent methods in several financial applications. This paper gives an overview of the most important primary studies published from 2009 to 2015, which cover techniques for preprocessing and clustering of financial data, for forecasting future market movements, for mining financial text information, among others. The main contributions of this paper are: (i) a comprehensive review of the literature of this field, (ii) the definition of a systematic procedure for guiding the task of building an intelligent trading system and (iii) a discussion about the main challenges and open problems in this scientific field.
