Accurate prediction of sea level height is critically important for the government in assessing sea level risk in coastal areas. However, due to the nonlinear, time-varying and highly uncertain characteristics of sea level change data, sea level prediction is challenging. To improve the accuracy of sea level prediction, this paper uses a new swarm intelligence algorithm named the sparrow search algorithm (SSA), which can imitate the foraging behavior and antipredation behavior of sparrows, to determine optimal solutions. To avoid the algorithm falling into a local optimal situation, this paper integrates the sine–cosine algorithm and the Cauchy variation strategy into the SSA to obtain an algorithm named the SCSSA. The SCSSA is used to optimize the parameter values of the CNN-BiLSTM (convolutional neural network combined with bidirectional long short-term memory neural network) model; finally, a combined neural network model (named SCSSA-CNN-BiLSTM) is proposed. In this paper, the time series data of seven tidal stations located in coastal China are used for experimental analysis. First, the SCSSA-CNN-BiLSTM model is compared with the CNN-BiLSTM model to predict the time series data of SHANWEI Station. With respect to the training and test sets of data, the SCSSA-CNN-BiLSTM model outperforms the other models on all the evaluation metrics. In addition, the remaining six tide station datasets and five neural network models, including the SCSSA-CNN-BiLSTM model, are used to further study the performance of the proposed prediction model. Four evaluation indices including the root mean squared error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) and coefficient of determination (R2) are adopted. For six stations, the RMSE, MAE, MAPE and R2 of SCSSA-CNN-BiLSTM model are ranged from 20.9217 ~ 27.8427 mm, 9.4770 ~ 17.8603 mm, 0.1322% ~ 0.2482% and 0.9119 ~ 0.9759, respectively. The experimental analysis results show that the SCSSA-CNN-BiLSTM model makes effective predictions at all stations, and the prediction performance is better than that of the other models. Even though the combination of SCSSA algorithm may increase the complexity of the model, indeed the proposed model is a new prediction method with good accuracy and robustness for predicting sea level change. Forests play an essential role in ensuring ecological balance and providing valuable resources. Evaluating their ecological effectiveness and economic value is vital for sustainable forest management. Due to the ecological benefits of the forest ecosystem, China has introduced reforms in its ecological system and incorporated them into its national economic accounting system. This research study selects different types of forests based on their locality and species. It formulates a classifier using Convolution Neural networks (CNN) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) data mining techniques. First, this paper briefly discusses data mining methods used to determine the impact of different factors on forest health, quality, and its importance in terrestrial ecology. Second, this research study designs a classifier for labeling forests according to their ecological and economic worth. A confusion matrix was used to ascertain the performance of the classifier. Third, it illustrates an index system for evaluating forest ecosystem service function value and explores dynamic characteristics of forest resource variation and the change process of the forest ecosystem. Finally, a statistical analysis is performed among the proposed study and related studies. The proposed study outperforms its predecessors and depicts that the proposed technique is more accurate than traditional systems. The study showed that the amount of nutrients accumulated by trees and the amount of polluted gas absorbed have doubled, and the growth rate of other functions has also increased by more than 70%. Accurate traffic flow prediction can effectively improve traffic efficiency and safety. This has become a trending topic in intelligent transportation systems. However, the occurrence of traffic accidents will cause great fluctuations of traffic flow in a short time, thus affecting the accuracy of flow prediction. This paper analyses the influence of traffic accident information on traffic flow, and proposes a grey convolutional neural network called G-CNN for traffic flow prediction. First, considering the small sample size of traffic accidents and the incomplete information description, the traffic flow and traffic speed change rate are defined to represent traffic accident grey information, and a grey fixed-weight clustering method for extracting the characteristics of traffic accident grey information is established. Second, the spatiotemporal characteristics of traffic flow are analysed, and a third-order tensor is developed to fuse them with the accident characteristics and serve as the input of the G-CNN. Then the G-CNN model is built to predict traffic flow in a traffic accident environment. The Canadian Whitemud Drive experiment on traffic flow without traffic accident information reveals that the developed G-CNN model has a better ability to predict future traffic flow with better accuracy and stability. Meanwhile, it is verified that the fluctuation of the traffic change rate will cause traffic accidents, and the probability of traffic accidents at a certain time point will be obtained through feature extraction of traffic accidents. Finally, the model is verified for the traffic flow of Hangzhou Viaduct in China, which demonstrates that the G-CNN model outperforms all of the compared models. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

At present, the classification method used in image colour element analysis in China is still based on subjective visual evaluation. Because the evaluation process will inevitably be disturbed by human factors, it will not only have low efficiency but also produce large errors. To solve the above problems, this paper proposes an image colour data element analysis model based on depth neural network. Firstly, intelligent analysis of image colour data elements based on tensorflow is constructed, and the isomerized tensorflow framework is designed with the idea of Docker cluster to improve the efficiency of image element analysis. Secondly, considering the time error and spatial error diffusion model in the process of image analysis, the quantization modified error diffusion model is replaced by the original model for more accurate colour management. Image colour management is an important link in the process of image reproduction; the rotating principal component analysis method is used to correct and analyze the image colour error. Finally, using the properties of transfer learning and convolution neural network, an image colour element analysis model based on depth neural network is established. Large-scale image data is collected, and the effectiveness and reliability of the algorithm are verified from different angles. The results show that the new image colour analysis method can not only reveal the true colour components of the target image; furthermore, the real colour component of the target image also has high spectral data reconstruction accuracy, and the analysis results have strong adaptability. With the rapid development of China's electrical industry, the safe operation of electrical facilities is very important for social stability and people's property safety. The failure detection method of conventional electrical equipment is hand detection, which has high experience of the detection person, lacks detection and error detection, and the detection efficiency is low. With the development of artificial intelligence technology, computer-assisted substation inspection is now possible, and substation inspection using an intelligent inspection robot equipped with an infrared device is one of the main substation inspection methods. In this paper, experiments are carried out using several neural network models. For example, if a faster region convolutional neural networks (RCNN) infrared detection model is employed, a good vg16 in the feature region of the extracted image takes into account the quality of the infrared image and the presence of multiple devices. Infrared images can be used to determine the basic features of various electronic devices. In order to detect targets in infrared images of electrical equipment, the fast RCNN target detection algorithm is used, and the overall recognition accuracy reaches 83.1%, and a good application effect is obtained. Microseismic technology has been widely used in geological hazard monitoring. However, the effective identification and classification of microseismic events in mines have always been a challenge in hazard monitoring. In this paper, a new method combining the empirical mode decomposition (EMD) algorithm and artificial neural network is proposed for the classification and identification of microseismic waveforms. This is the first study to explore such a model in the microseismic monitoring of coal mines. The data for this study were collected from a coal mine in northern China. A total of 2768 microseismic events and 2435 non-microseismic events were manually selected from a large amount of data. Firstly, the microseismic waveform reconstruction was performed using the 4th to 8th Intrinsic Mode Function (IMF) obtained by the EMD algorithm. Secondly, the peak factor, clearance factor, impulse factor, kurtosis, skewness, and waveform factor of each reconstructed microseismic waveform were used as features. Subsequently, the convolutional neural network (CNN) was used to classify microseismic events. Among them, data from 3600 microseismic events were used as the training set, and data from 1603 microseismic events were used as the test set. Finally, the original waveform data were used as input and compared with the classification results processed with the EMD algorithm. The classification methods of the BP neural network and Radial Basis Function (RBF) neural network were used for verification. The results of the processed features showed a significant increase in accuracy. The classification accuracy of CNN, BP neural network, and RBF neural network are 97.37%, 91.99%, and 94.23%, respectively. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) plays an irreplaceable role in the monitoring of marine oil spills. However, due to the limitation of its imaging characteristics, it is difficult to use traditional image processing methods to effectively extract oil spill information from SAR images with coherent speckle noise. In this paper, the convolutional neural network AlexNet model is used to extract the oil spill information from SAR images by taking advantage of its features of local connection, weight sharing, and learning for image representation. The existing remote sensing images of the oil spills in recent years in China are used to build a dataset. These images are enhanced by translation and flip of the dataset, and so on and then sent to the established deep convolutional neural network for training. The prediction model is obtained through optimization methods such as Adam. During the prediction, the predicted image is cut into several blocks, and the error information is removed by corrosion expansion and Gaussian filtering after the image is spliced again. Sparse connections have unique advantages in discovering correlation between neighboring components and convolution kernels are designed to deal with two-dimensional information. In this paper, topological information embedded convolutional neural network (TCNN) was firstly established and utilized. This model enhanced the ability of fusing location features and component attributes through sparse connections and convolution layers. Datasets of China's Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant Phase II PWR was used to evaluate the performance of TCNN. Comparative and ablation experiments demonstrated that TCNN has superiority in working as efficient predictor for pressurized water reactor safety parameters, indicating that the proposed model promoted the digitalization of nuclear power plants. Chinese Sign Language (CSL) offers the main means of communication for the hearing impaired in China. Sign Language Recognition (SLR) can shorten the distance between the hearing-impaired and healthy people and help them integrate into the society. Therefore, SLR has become the focus of sign language application research. Over the years, the continuous development of new technologies provides a source and motivation for SLR. This paper aims to cover the most recent approaches in Chinese Sign Language Recognition (CSLR). With a thorough review of superior methods from 2000 to 2019 in CSLR researches, various techniques and algorithms such as scale-invariant feature transform, histogram of oriented gradients, wavelet entropy, Hu moment invariant, Fourier descriptor, gray-level co-occurrence matrix, dynamic time warping, principal component analysis, autoencoder, hidden Markov model (HMM), support vector machine (SVM), random forest, skin color modeling method, k-NN, artificial neural network, convolutional neural network (CNN), and transfer learning are discussed in detail, which are based on several major stages, that is, data acquisition, preprocessing, feature extraction, and classification. CSLR was summarized from some aspect as follows: methods of classification and feature extraction, accuracy/performance evaluation, and sample size/datasets. The advantages and limitations of different CSLR approaches were compared. It was found that data acquisition is mainly through Kinect and camera, and the feature extraction focuses on hand's shape and spatiotemporal factors, but ignoring facial expressions. HMM and SVM are used most in the classification. CNN is becoming more and more popular, and a deep neural network-based recognition approach will be the future trend. However, due to the complexity of the contemporary Chinese language, CSLR generally has a lower accuracy than other SLR. It is necessary to establish an appropriate dataset to conduct comparable experiments. The issue of decreasing accuracy as the dataset increases needs to resolve. This paper develops a hierarchical deep learning machine (HDLM) to efficiently achieve both quantitative and qualitative online transient stability prediction (TSP). For the sake of improving its online efficiency, multiple generators’ fault-on trajectories as well as the two closest data-points in pre-/post-fault stages are acquired by PMUs to form its raw inputs. An anti-noise graphical transient characterization technique is tactfully designed to transform multiplex trajectories into 2-D images, within which system-wide transients are concisely described. Then, following the divide-and-conquer philosophy, the HDLM trains a two-level convolutional neural network (CNN) based regression model. With stability margin regressions hierarchically refined, it manages to perform reliable and adaptive online TSP almost immediately after fault clearance. Test results on the IEEE 39-bus test system and the real-world Guangdong Power Grid in South China demonstrate the HDLM's superior performances on both stability status and stability margin predictions. Supervised neural networks constitute an important research area for the intelligent prediction of locations for prospecting mineral deposits. Accurate training of a supervised neural network requires many training samples, something that is often difficult to obtain. This paper reports the use of geological, geochemical, and geophysical data by a Siamese network to overcome the problem of insufficient training samples, and implements a supervised deep learning prospecting prediction method based on the Siamese network. Intelligent prediction for gold deposits prospecting is carried out for the Chongli mineral concentrate area in Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province, China, and compared with the weight of evidence method and convolutional neural network model. The results show that:(a) the performance of the Siamese network model is no less than that of the convolutional neural network (CNN) model and better than that of the weight of evidence (WOE) method; (b) the gold prospective areas differentiated by the established models are strongly consistent with geological and metallogenic characteristics in the study area. This study suggests Siamese network model as an effective mineral prospectivity modeling tool. This method is also suitable for prospecting prediction using geoscience data in other areas. In machine learning driven surface inspection one often faces the issue that defects to be detected are difficult to make available for training, especially when pixel-wise labeling is required. Therefore, supervised approaches are not feasible in many cases. In this paper, this issue is circumvented by injecting synthetized defects into fault-free surface images. In this way, a fully convolutional neural network was trained for pixel-accurate defect detection on decorated plastic parts, reaching a pixel-wise PRC score of 78% compared to 8% that was reached by a state-of-the-art unsupervised anomaly detection method. As one of the most devastating disasters to pine forests, pine wilt disease (PWD) has caused tremendous ecological and economic losses in China. An effective way to prevent large-scale PWD outbreaks is to detect and remove the damaged pine trees at the early stage of PWD infection. However, early infected pine trees do not show obvious changes in morphology or color in the visible wavelength range, making early detection of PWD tricky. Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-based hyperspectral imagery (HI) has great potential for early detection of PWD. However, the commonly used methods, such as the two-dimensional convolutional neural network (2D-CNN), fail to simultaneously extract and fully utilize the spatial and spectral information, whereas the three-dimensional convolutional neural network (3D-CNN) is able to collect this information from raw hyperspectral data. In this paper, we applied the residual block to 3D-CNN and constructed a 3D-Res CNN model, the performance of which was then compared with that of 3D-CNN, 2D-CNN, and 2D-Res CNN in identifying PWD-infected pine trees from the hyperspectral images. The 3D-Res CNN model outperformed the other models, achieving an overall accuracy (OA) of 88.11% and an accuracy of 72.86% for detecting early infected pine trees (EIPs). Using only 20% of the training samples, the OA and EIP accuracy of 3D-Res CNN can still achieve 81.06% and 51.97%, which is superior to the state-of-the-art method in the early detection of PWD based on hyperspectral images. Collectively, 3D-Res CNN was more accurate and effective in early detection of PWD. In conclusion, 3D-Res CNN is proposed for early detection of PWD in this paper, making the prediction and control of PWD more accurate and effective. Landslides pose a constant threat to the lives and property of mountain people and may also cause geomorphological destruction such as soil and water loss, vegetation destruction, and land cover change. Landslide susceptibility assessment (LSA) is a key component of landslide risk evaluation. There are many related studies, but few analyses and comparisons of models for optimization. This paper aims to introduce the Tree-structured Parzen Estimator (TPE) algorithm for hyperparameter optimization of three typical neural network models for LSA in Shuicheng County, China, as an example, and to compare the differences of predictive ability among the models in order to achieve higher application performance. First, 17 influencing factors of landslide multiple data sources were selected for spatial prediction, hybrid ensemble oversampling and undersampling techniques were used to address the imbalanced sample and small sample size problem, and the samples were randomly divided into a training set and validation set. Second, deep neural network (DNN), recurrent neural network (RNN), and convolutional neural network (CNN) models were adopted to predict the regional landslides susceptibility, and the TPE algorithm was used to optimize the hyperparameters respectively to improve the assessment capacity. Finally, to compare the differences and optimization effects of these models, several objective measures were applied for validation. The results show that the high-susceptibility regions mostly distributed in bands along fault zones, where the lithology is mostly claystone, sandstone, and basalt. The DNN, RNN, and CNN models all perform well in LSA, especially the RNN model. The TPE optimization significantly improves the accuracy of the DNN and CNN (3.92% and 1.52%, respectively), but does not improve the performance of the RNN. In summary, our proposed RNN model and TPE-optimized DNN and CNN model have robust predictive capability for landslide susceptibility in the study area and can also be applied to other areas containing similar geological conditions. Accurate, fast, and reliable estimation of field rock strength is significant for the assessment of rock mass strength. This paper presents a novel method to continuously estimate the field strength parameters of rock by incorporating a deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) technique into the drilling process. A DCNN model is established based on the stochastic pooling method and softmax loss. The proposed CNN model framework includes : (1) collecting drilling performance parameters of intact rock, (2) establishing a strength parameter database via standard laboratory tests , (3) training the proposed CNN model using images created from the dataset of drilling performance parameters and rock strength parameters (unconfined compressive strength (UCS), cohesion, and internal friction angle), and (4) performing a new estimation to evaluate the reliability of the trained CNN model. The experimental results show that the predicted rock strength parameters are within the accepted error range of 10% compared to the results from the conventional standard test. The proposed CNN shows superior performance for UCS estimation of various rock types and achieves higher accuracy than the Mohr–Coulomb criterion. In particular, the proposed method can overcome major limitations of analytical models based on the force limit and energy equilibrium method. This method enables continuous and reliable field measurements of rock strength parameters at a speed several orders of magnitude faster than the standard test. This continuous and practical technique has been applied in an engineering problem in the Hanjiang-to-Weihe River Project of China and shows potential for field applications in rock engineering.
