This paper offers a concise critical review of finite element studies of the jetting phenomenon in cold spray (CS). CS is a deposition technique wherein solid particles impact a substrate at high velocities, inducing severe plastic deformation and material deposition. These high-velocity particle impacts lead to the ejection of material in a jet-like shape at the periphery of the particle/substrate interface, a phenomenon known as "jetting". Jetting has been the subject of numerous studies over recent decades and remains a point of debate. Two main mechanisms, Adiabatic Shear Instability (ASI) and Hydrodynamic Pressure-Release (HPR), have been proposed to explain the jetting phenomenon. These mechanisms are mainly elucidated through finite element method (FEM) simulations, a numerical technique rooted in continuum mechanics. However, it is important to emphasize that FEM is limited by the equations established for analysis, and as such, its predictive capabilities are confined to those principles clearly defined within these equations. The choice of employed equations and approaches significantly influence the outcomes and predictions in FEM. While recognizing FEM's capabilities, this study reviews the ASI and HPR mechanisms within the context of CS. Named entity recognition (NER) aims to identify the required entities and their types from unstructured text, which can be utilized for the construction of knowledge graphs. Traditional methods heavily rely on manual feature engineering and face challenges in adapting to large datasets within complex linguistic contexts. In recent years, with the development of deep learning, a plethora of NER methods based on deep learning have emerged. This paper begins by providing a succinct introduction to the definition of the problem and the limitations of traditional methods. It enumerates commonly used NER datasets suitable for deep learning methods and categorizes them into three classes based on the complexity of named entities. Then, some typical deep learning-based NER methods are summarized in detail according to the development history of deep learning models. Subsequently, an in-depth analysis and comparison of methods achieving outstanding performance on representative and widely used datasets is conducted. Furthermore, the paper reproduces and analyzes the recognition results of some typical models on three different types of typical datasets. Context: In this paper, we systematically studied the effects of non-metallic element (B, C, N, O, F) doping and biaxial stretching on the photoelectric properties of ZrS2/ZrSe2 heterostructures by using the first-principles calculation method based on density functional theory. The results show that the p-type doping is realized by B, C, and N atom doping, and the n-type doping is realized by O and F atom doping. The doping of B and C atoms produces impurity energy levels in the band gap, which affects the conductivity of the heterostructure. The band gap of N and O atom–doped heterostructures increases under tensile strain, but it is still a direct band gap. The analysis of the optical properties of the heterostructures shows that the doping of non-metallic atoms can adjust the optical absorption rate and reflectivity of the heterostructures. Under the action of tensile strain, the optical properties of the doped heterostructures have changed significantly in the low-energy region. This article provides a theoretical basis for the future application of ZrS2/ZrSe2 heterostructures. Method: This paper uses the first-principles calculation method based on density functional theory. The PBE exchange-correlation functional based on generalized gradient approximation (GGA) is selected for the specific calculation, and the crystal structure is geometrically optimized by the ultrasoft pseudopotential method. It is verified that when the cutoff energy of the ZrS2/ZrSe2 heterostructure is 500 eV, the K-point grid is selected to be 10 × 10 × 2 with the lowest energy, so the cutoff energy is selected to be 500 eV. The K-point grid is selected to be 10 × 10 × 2. The convergence limits for structural optimization are as follows: the maximum force between atoms is 0.01 eV/Å, the convergence threshold of the maximum energy change is set to 10−9 eV/atom, and the convergence threshold of the maximum displacement is 0.001 Å. In order to avoid the influence of atomic periodic motion between different atomic layers, a vacuum layer of 20 Å is added in the vertical direction. Considering the interaction of vdW between the interfaces, the DFT-D2 method is used to verify. This paper applies ritual theory to study public LGBTQ+ gatherings, including Pride parades, silent vigils, and commemorative litanies. The analysis of public LGBTQ+ rituals has often focussed on Pride parades and their carnivalistic exuberance. We call instead for more attention to the whole nexus of public rituals that this movement consists of, and we argue that these rituals are central to LGBTQ+ community building and meaning-making in this social movement. Using participant and non-participant observation, as well as publicly available data, the paper studies assembly forms, ritual scripts, symbolic interactions, sites, and objects that link the various public rituals within the LGBTQ+ movement. We find that, over the last five decades, these ritual elements have coalesced to provide members of the LGBTQ+ community access to the sphere of transcendence. Japan is a leading exemplar of rapidly aging countries, holding very low fertility rate. Under such circumstances, the present paper examines two important aspects of residential energy consumption patterns of Japan up to the year 2040: (i) presenting two future scenarios of residential energy consumption and (ii) reexamining the effectiveness of traditional strategy to reduce energy consumption mainly through energy efficiency improvement. Before presenting the two main topics of the paper, three important factors are discussed: (i) the population aging effect; (ii) the generation gap in energy use patterns; and (iii) the decline in family size. These factors influence the relationship between the aging population and residential energy consumption. Then, a brief explanation is given for survey data sources, six household types in 11 regions of Japan, and four types of energy carriers. The first scenario assumes that residential energy consumption pattern of each household type remains unchanged from the current situation and that the population projection holds true. The total residential energy consumption will decrease by only 6% between 2020 and 2040. Yet, per capita residential energy consumption will increase despite the fact that the population size will decrease by 10.6%. The second scenario assumes that slightly higher energy efficiency improvements than in the past 15 years will continue to reduce energy consumption from 2020 to 2040. The simulation result of this optimistic scenario also suggests that conventional energy conservation strategies alone are far from sufficient to reduce residential energy consumption per capita. Thus, an alternative strategy to overcome the spell of Jevons’ paradox is urgently required. Sterol 14-demethylase (CYP51) inhibitors, encompassing new chemical entities and repurposed drugs, have emerged as promising candidates for Chagas disease treatment, based on preclinical studies reporting anti-Trypanosoma cruzi activity. Triazoles like ravuconazole (RAV) and posaconazole (POS) progressed to clinical trials. Unexpectedly, their efficacy was transient in chronic Chagas disease patients, and their activity was not superior to benznidazole (BZ) treatment. This paper aims to summarize evidence on the global activity of CYP51 inhibitors against T. cruzi by applying systematic review strategies, risk of bias assessment, and meta-analysis from in vivo studies. PubMed and Embase databases were searched for original articles, obtaining fifty-six relevant papers meeting inclusion criteria. Characteristics of animal models, parasite strain, treatment schemes, and cure rates were extracted. Primary outcomes such as maximum parasitaemia values, survival, and parasitological cure were recorded for meta-analysis, when possible. The risk of bias was uncertain in most studies. Animals treated with itraconazole, RAV, or POS survived significantly longer than the infected non-treated groups (RR = 4.85 [3.62, 6.49], P < 0.00001), and they showed no differences with animals treated with positive control drugs (RR = 1.01 [0.98, 1.04], P = 0.54). Furthermore, the overall analysis showed that RAV or POS was not likely to achieve parasitological cure when compared with BZ or NFX treatment (OD = 0.49 [0.31, 0.77], P = 0.002). This systematic review contributes to understanding why the azoles had failed in clinical trials and, more importantly, how to improve the animal models of T. cruzi infection by filling the gaps between basic, translational, and clinical research. This paper studies multilateral trading problems in which agents' valuations for items are interdependent. Assuming that each agent's information has a greater marginal effect on her own valuation than on the other agents' valuations, the paper identifies a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of trading mechanisms satisfying efficiency, ex-post incentive compatibility, ex-post individual rationality, and ex-post budget balance. The paper presents a trading mechanism that satisfies the four properties when the necessary and sufficient condition holds and shows that this mechanism maximizes the ex-post budget surplus among all efficient, ex-post incentive compatible, and ex-post individually rational trading mechanisms. The paper examines an environment where each agent can possess at most one unit of an item, and her information about the item is one-dimensional. This paper studies a Bayesian persuasion game in which a receiver can receive signals from two senders. We study under what circumstances the competition between senders induces them to fully disclose all of the signals available. We find that if the senders' preferences are such that they are opposite to the same degree across states (to be made precise in the paper), full disclosure is the only equilibrium outcome of the game. Furthermore, we find that the above condition on the senders' preferences is also necessary if we require that full disclosure be the only equilibrium outcome for any receiver's utility and any information environment. The rational index ρ L of a language L is an integer function, where ρ L (n) is the maximum length of the shortest string in L ∩ R , over all regular languages R recognized by n-state nondeterministic finite automata (NFA). This paper investigates the rational index of languages defined by grammars with bounded parse tree dimension: this is a numerical measure of the amount of branching in a tree (with trees in a linear grammar having dimension 1). For context-free grammars, a grammar with tree dimension bounded by d has rational index at most O (n 2 d) , and it is known from the literature that there exists a grammar with rational index Θ (n 2 d) . In this paper, it is shown that for multi-component grammars with at most k components (k-MCFG) and with a tree dimension bounded by d, the rational index is at most O (n 2 k d) , where the constant depends on the grammar, and there exists such a grammar with rational index k 2 k d 2 - k d - 2 k - 1 · (8 k + 1) 2 k d n 2 k d . The plan of the paper is to study autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in children as complex conditions that affect cognitive, emotional, social, and physical health. Broadly tracing the medical journey of the condition, it addresses the challenges faced by parents as they make sense of, and navigate their way through the appearance of early symptoms, impediments in correct diagnosis, acceptance, and adapt to live with the condition. The paper attempts to understand autism in medical and neurological terms, as well as the challenges faced by children and parents through the case study of Kyari (meaning a flower bed), a lone centre providing accessible autism care in about 150 km around Moradabad (west UP, India), which has been instrumental in raising an awareness of autism and has a reach that is unprecedented in the city in bringing sensitive autism intervention. It further comprehensively studies the symptoms of ASD, and the role of augmentative and alternative communication, behaviour modification, and the work of organisations like the Centre for Autism, CBSE mandate for inclusive education as applied in the case and Indian government policy for autism. Why have Singapore's unique developmental state arrangements persisted in a region which has experienced democratic change? This paper argues that this is due to the PAP state's successful legitimation of its unique brand of meritocracy, one which has both competitive and interventionist elements. During the colonial era, a culture of economic meritocracy evolved in a bottom-up process through social and commercial interactions between the British class and Chinese community. This was then transmuted by the PAP's top-down imposition of the institutions and discourses of political meritocracy. This cultural hybrid allows the state to sustain its hegemony in the face of progressive social change. Accordingly, our emphasis on the wider institutional environment within which merit is conceived helps to better illuminate Singapore's challenges of encouraging organic innovation, alleviating social stratification, and opening up its political arena. This paper suggests that the problems in these areas stem not from meritocracy per se, but from the PAP's "monocentric meritocracy" where merit is narrowly defined and singularly imposed in the post-colonial era. Historically, seepage failure has always been the primary cause of failures and accidents of earth dams after overtopping. However, research on the reliability of earth dams against seepage failure remains scarce. Meanwhile, the influence of the uncertainty of the soil–water characteristic curve (SWCC) on the reliability of dams against seepage failure is still unclear. In this study, the van Genuchten–Mualem model is used to describe SWCC, and its uncertainty is characterized by discretizing SWCC fitting parameters a and n into cross-correlation lognormal random fields. Based on the random finite element method, this paper systematically studies the influence of the heterogeneity, autocorrelation, and cross-correlation of hydraulic parameters Ks, a, and n on the reliability of a dam against seepage failure. Sensitivity analysis indicates that Ks and autocorrelation distance crucially affect the reliability of the dam against seepage failure. Additionally, this paper also emphasizes and proves that considering the correlation between the hydraulic conductivity field and the critical hydraulic gradient field has a significant impact on evaluating the reliability of earth dams against seepage failure. To distinguish a certain object from mixed images with similar background, this paper proposes an image feature texture extraction method for distinguishing mixed images in similar backgrounds. Taking a mixed image of soybean and weed as an example, the method can accurately and quickly distinguish soybean and weed. In this paper, various fuzzy signals are first studied, the uncertainty classification and its impact are analyzed, a method for fuzzy signal processing is proposed. Secondly, this paper uses function packet to extract the texture features of the target, texture decomposition can obtain more detailed and rich target textures. Finally, using feature matching algorithm to determine the similarity between two feature vectors in an image, soybean recognition is completed, thereby removing weeds from the mixture of soybeans and weeds. Compared with the relevant performance of existing extraction methods, the accuracy of the proposed method is achieved more than 95%. It not only has fast processing speed, but also has adaptation to environment. The paper aimed to study land reforms in the Russian Federation from the abolition of serfdom to the present time. The research was carried out by analyzing land and urban planning regulatory and legal acts, territorial planning, and municipal land management schemes used in constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The conducted retrospective analysis of land reforms in Russia revealed weaknesses and strengths and outlined prospects for further development of land relations. The conducted study showed that land reforms in Russia have not reached a successful conclusion. It had negative effects on agriculture and food security of the country. This systematic review and meta-analysis explores the effectiveness of teacher interventions supporting children with externalizing behaviors based on teacher and child outcomes. A systematic search was conducted using 5 electronic databases. From 5714 papers, 31 papers that included interventions delivered directly to teachers and aimed to benefit either teachers and/or children with externalizing behaviors were included. The review focused on qualified teachers working with children aged 2–13. The results of the current meta-analysis revealed a positive effect of teacher intervention on teacher and child outcomes, including the increased use of teacher-appropriate strategies, as well as significant and moderate improvements in teacher–child closeness, and small reductions in teacher–child conflict. For child outcomes, the interventions reduced externalizing behavior problems and ADHD symptoms and enhanced prosocial behavior. Only one fully blinded analysis for conduct problems was possible and revealed a moderate but significant reduction in favor of intervention. These findings provide evidence to support the role of teacher interventions for both teachers and children with externalizing behaviors. Future research should include more PBLIND measurements so that MPROX findings can be confirmed. We present Daksha, a proposed high energy transients mission for the study of electromagnetic counterparts of gravitational wave sources, and gamma ray bursts. Daksha will comprise of two satellites in low earth equatorial orbits, on opposite sides of the Earth. Each satellite will carry three types of detectors to cover the entire sky in an energy range from 1 keV to > 1 MeV. Any transients detected on-board will be announced publicly within minutes of discovery. All photon data will be downloaded in ground station passes to obtain source positions, spectra, and light curves. In addition, Daksha will address a wide range of science cases including monitoring X-ray pulsars, studies of magnetars, solar flares, searches for fast radio burst counterparts, routine monitoring of bright persistent high energy sources, terrestrial gamma-ray flashes, and probing primordial black hole abundances through lensing. The politicization of climate change and the difficulty of achieving multi-level or sectoral stakeholder coordination are common institutional barriers to effective climate change adaptation governance outcomes. In the U.S., quasi-government organizations (QGOs) were designed to overcome such barriers, albeit traditionally for non-climatic purposes. This study’s objective is to illustrate how the design characteristics of QGOs may be useful for overcoming the above climate adaptation barriers. Methodologically, this paper analyzes six case studies, selected to illustrate the major characteristics of QGOs, of climate-focused and non climate-focused QGOs at the sub-national level in the U.S. Non climate-focused examples are included for comparison with, and to supplement, the limited number of QGOs currently working on climate efforts. For each case, this study focuses on eight design characteristics: seven that represent measures of political and financial independence, and one focused on board composition, to illustrate the extent to which QGOs enable multi-level and multi-sectoral stakeholder coordination. This study finds that among the assortment of existing QGO designs some are particularly well suited to overcoming either the politicization of climate adaptation policy or obstacles to enhancing policy coordination, while some reduce both, albeit to a lesser extent. Broadly, this paper concludes that QGOs can strengthen effective action by depoliticizing informational sources and fostering cross scale coordination of planning and implementation. The rapid development of computer vision technologies and applications has brought forth a range of social and ethical challenges. Due to the unique characteristics of visual technology in terms of data modalities and application scenarios, computer vision poses specific ethical issues. However, the majority of existing literature either addresses artificial intelligence as a whole or pays particular attention to natural language processing, leaving a gap in specialized research on ethical issues and systematic solutions in the field of computer vision. This paper utilizes bibliometrics and text-mining techniques to quantitatively analyze papers from prominent academic conferences in computer vision over the past decade. It first reveals the developing trends and specific distribution of attention regarding trustworthy aspects in the computer vision field, as well as the inherent connections between ethical dimensions and different stages of visual model development. A life-cycle framework regarding trustworthy computer vision is then presented by making the relevant trustworthy issues, the operation pipeline of AI models, and viable technical solutions interconnected, providing researchers and policymakers with references and guidance for achieving trustworthy CV. Finally, it discusses particular motivations for conducting trustworthy practices and underscores the consistency and ambivalence among various trustworthy principles and technical attributes. Currently, the digitization of environment objects (vegetation, terrain, architectural structures, etc.) in the form of point clouds is actively being developed. The integration of such digitized objects into virtual environment systems allows the quality of the modeled environment to be improved, but requires efficient methods and algorithms for real-time visualization of large point volumes. In this paper the solution of this task on modern multicore GPUs with support of hardware-accelerated ray tracing is researched. A modified method is proposed where the original unordered point cloud is split up into point groups whose visualization is effectively parallelized on ray tracing cores. The paper describes an algorithm for constructing such groups using swapping arrays of point indices, which works faster than alternative solutions based on linked lists, and also has lower memory overhead. The proposed method and algorithm were implemented in point cloud visualization software complex and approbated on a number of digitized environment objects. Segmentation of whole slide histological images through the classification of tissue types of small fragments is an extremely relevant task in digital pathology, necessary for the development of methods for automatic analysis of whole slide histological images. The extremely large resolution of such images also makes the task of increasing image resolution relevant, which allows storing images at a reduced resolution and increasing it if necessary. Annotating whole slide images by histologists is complex and time-consuming, so it is important to make the most efficient use of the available data, both labeled and unlabeled. In this paper we propose a novel neural network method to simultaneously solve the problems of super-resolution of histological images from ×20 optical magnification to ×40 and classifying image fragments into tissue types at ×20 magnification. The use of a single encoder as well as the proposed neural network training scheme allows to achieve better results on both tasks compared to existing approaches. The PATH-DT-MSU WSS2v2 dataset presented for the first time in this paper was used for training and testing the method. On the test sample, an accuracy value of 0.971 and a balanced accuracy value of 0.916 were achieved in the classification task on 5 tissue types, for the super-resolution task, values of PSNR = 32.26 and SSIM = 0.89 were achieved. Instrument panels of modern aircrafts are created based on the concept of glass cockpit. This new interface philosophy improves the perception of important flight information by displaying it on a single multi-function display. This paper considers problems that arise when developing a certified cockpit display visualization system designed for operation on civil aircrafts under the Russian real-time operating system JetOS. The paper presents several algorithmic solutions that make it possible to achieve acceptable rendering speed. In particular, a solution to the problem of rigid scheduling of operating system partitions is described in detail. This solution makes it possible to overcome the degradation of rendering speed. We study in this paper a variation of the acclaimed carrier sense multiple access (CSMA) protocol. A random access algorithm is where back-off rates depend on the state of the network through queue lengths. We provide the first case where full proof of convergence to fluid limits can be obtained. Although this has been often justified informally, this is the first proof dedicated to obtaining this result formally. We then outline the difficulties arising when queues reach zero and solve them in the case of a complete interference graph. The main contribution of this paper is to provide a formal justification of the fluid limits for a complete interference graph in the case where some initial queue lengths are zero. This is done with a coupling argument. This paper also proves convergence to the fluid limits in the general case up to the time a queue reaches 0 on the fluid scale. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We consider the optimal scheduling problem in a multiserver queue with impatient customers belonging to multiple classes. We assume that each customer has a random abandonment time, after which the customer leaves the system if its service has not been completed before that. In addition, we assume that the scheduler is not able to anticipate the expiration of the abandonment times but only knows their distributions and how long each customer has been in the system. Many papers consider this scheduling problem under Poisson arrivals and linear holding costs assuming further that both the service times and the abandonment times have exponential distributions. Even with these additional assumptions, the exact solution is known only in very few special cases. To tackle this tricky problem, we apply the Whittle index approach. Unlike the earlier papers, which were restricted to exponential service times, we allow the service time distributions for which the hazard rate is decreasing. The Whittle index approach is applied to the discrete-time multiserver queueing problem with discounted costs. As our main theoretical result, we prove that the related relaxed optimization problem is indexable and derive the corresponding Whittle index explicitly. Based on this discrete-time result, we develop a reasonable heuristic for the original continuous-time multiserver scheduling problem. The performance of the resulting policy is evaluated in the M/G/M setup by numerical simulations, which demonstrate that it, indeed, gives better performance than the other policies included in the comparison. Bargaining with suppliers is a key Purchasing and Supply Management (PSM) activity but there is considerable ambiguity over what bargaining entails and the concept currently lacks a systematic treatment, despite its significant interest to PSM professionals. The literature shows that bargaining can be seen as an adversarial approach to negotiation (in contrast to more integrative/collaborative ones) and also the back-and-forth discussion over price and other variables between buying and supplying organisations to reach an agreement. In addition, many will move between fundamentally distributive and integrative approaches as the discussions play out. A systematic literature review of the Scopus, ProQuest, ScienceDirect, JSTOR and Web of Science databases was undertaken to address this gap, identifying 427 relevant journal papers that were systematically analysed. First, descriptive techniques identified the trajectory of published papers, methods, theories and their industrial context. Second, content analysis identified the key constructs and associated operational measures/variables of bargaining. Third, the constructs have then been ordered temporally and by areas of location (organisational/departmental and individual levels) to generate a model and inform a series of practice-based recommendations at different stages of the bargaining process. The findings will allow future researchers to use the constructs either directly in developing focused hypotheses to test relationships or as a basis for refinement and extension in cumulative theory building and testing. In addition, a series of focused research gaps have been identified, such as addressing the current contradictory findings of the effect of purchasing volume or organisational size on bargaining power. Purpose: Knowledge of neurovascular anatomy is vital for neurosurgeons, neurologists, neuro-radiologists and anatomy students, amongst others, to fully comprehend the brain's anatomy with utmost depth. This paper aims to enhance the foundational knowledge of novice physicians in this area. Method: A comprehensive literature review was carried out by searching the PubMed and Google Scholar databases using primary keywords related to brain vasculature, without date restrictions. The identified literature was meticulously examined and scrutinized. In the process of screening pertinent papers, further articles and book chapters were obtained through analysis and additional assessing of the reference lists. Additionally, four formalin-fixed, color latex-injected cadaveric specimens preserved in 70% ethanol solution were dissected under surgical microscope (Leica Microsystems Inc, 1700 Leider Ln, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089 USA). Using microneurosurgical as well as standard instruments, and a high-speed surgical drill (Stryker Instruments 1941 Stryker Way Portage, MI 49002 USA). Ulterior anatomical dissection was documented in microscopic images. Results: Encephalic circulation functions as a complex network of intertwined vessels. The Internal Carotid Arteries (ICAs) and the Vertebral Arteries (VAs), form the anterior and posterior arterial circulations, respectively. This work provides a detailed exploration of the neurovascular anatomy of the anterior circulation and its key structures, such as the Anterior Cerebral Artery (ACA) and the Middle Cerebral Artery (MCA). Embryology is also briefly covered, offering insights into the early development of the vascular structures of the central nervous system. Cerebral venous system was detailed, highlighting the major veins and tributaries involved in the drainage of blood from the intracranial compartment, with a focus on the role of the Internal Jugular Veins (IJVs) as the primary, although not exclusive, deoxygenated blood outflow pathway. Conclusion: This work serves as initial guide, providing essential knowledge on neurovascular anatomy, hoping to reduce the initial impact when tackling the subject, albeit the intricate vasculature of the brain will necessitate further efforts to be conquered, that being crucial for neurosurgical and neurology related practice and clinical decision-making. Six planetary boundaries have already been exceeded, including climate change, loss of biodiversity, chemical pollution, and land-system change. The health research sector contributes to the environmental crisis we are facing, though to a lesser extent than healthcare or agriculture sectors. It could take steps to reduce its environmental impact but generally has not done so, even as the planetary emergency worsens. So far, the normative case for why the health research sector should rectify that failure has not been made. This paper argues strong philosophical grounds, derived from theories of health and social justice, exist to support the claim that the sector has a duty to avoid or minimise causing or contributing to ecological harms that threaten human health or worsen health inequity. The paper next develops ideas about the duty’s content, explaining why it should entail more than reducing carbon emissions, and considers what limits might be placed on the duty. Two-dimensional materials with unique properties have received much attention in recent years. Current research is exploring their potential applications in various fields. Acoustic topological insulators have been an emerging branch in the field of acoustic metamaterials in recent years. Its strong unidirectional transmission capability has potential applications in acoustic sensors, filters, and beamwaves. However, to realize a wide range of applications of acoustic topological materials, it is necessary to solve the problems of multi-band and wide bandgap. To this end, this paper proposes a jointly resonant acoustic topological insulator structure. The structure achieves multi-band filtering, and three filterable bandgaps can be obtained below 6200 Hz. Meanwhile, the total width of the three filterable bandgaps accounts for 65.5% at 6200 Hz and below. In this paper, the band structure is obtained by using the method of finite element simulation. The generation of topological phase transition induced by the rotation angle of the scatterer is analyzed. The pseudo-spin case of the valley hall effect is also analyzed from the point of view of acoustic energy flow, and the existence of edge states is verified. Finally, the unidirectional transport properties possessing backward scattering immunity are verified. The multi-band structure with a great bandwidth means that this work will have great potential for applications in filters. A new analytical solution based on the Ritz method is presented in this paper for analyzing the free vibration and buckling behavior of porous bi-directional functionally graded (2D-FG) beams under various boundary conditions. The solution is based on first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT). The selection of solution functions used in Ritz methods distinguishes the methods from each other and determines the accuracy of the analytical solution. To accurately capture the system's behavior and achieve the desired results, these functions have been carefully selected as a combination of polynomial and trigonometric expressions tailored as mixed series functions for each boundary condition. The study considers three types of porosity, namely PFG-1, PFG-2, and PFG-3. The equations of motion are derived using Lagrange's principle, taking into account the power-law variation of the beam material components throughout the volume. The non-dimensional fundamental frequencies and critical buckling loads are calculated for different boundary conditions, gradation exponents in the x and z directions (px, pz), slenderness (L/h), porosity coefficient (e), and porosity types. Initially, the accuracy of the mixed series functions is investigated for non-porous bi-directional functionally graded beams, and the numerical results are compared with existing literature to validate the proposed solution. Subsequently, the paper focuses on analyzing the influence of porosity on the free vibration and buckling behavior of bi-directional functionally graded beams using the developed solution method. In the secondary literature on Scriabin, it is not uncommon to come across the names of philosophers such as Nikolai Fyodorov, Vladimir Solovyov, and Nikolai Berdyaev. The present paper examines the shared characteristics between Scriabin's philosophy and the ideas of such figures who are typically referred to as Russian Cosmists. In doing so, the paper illustrates what new insights we can gain by considering Scriabin from the perspective of Russian Cosmism. Despite the overwhelming evidence of Russian Cosmists' significant influence on Scriabin's philosophical ideas, the secondary literature rarely discusses this impact within the context of Russian Cosmism. The aim of the present paper is to remedy this oversight by (a) concisely defining what Russian Cosmism is, and (b) illustrating how Scriabin's philosophy can be traced to Russian Cosmist ideas which were circulating in Russia when Scriabin was intellectually and artistically active. The paper focuses on the mutual interaction as well as the impact of the Scottish Enlightenment on the formation of the Enlightenment in Russia during the reign of Catherine the Great. It focuses on the relationship between the work of Adam Smith and Semyon Efimovich Desnitskii, who, thanks to Desnitskii's studies at the University of Glasgow, got to know each other as teacher and student. The central point of their interaction is the issues of the philosophy of history based on natural-law assumptions and focus on understanding the formation of history, culture, citizenship, and social transformations through morality and law. The paper examines Desnitskii's ideas on the stages of human coexistence in which Smith's concept is projected. The paper is not only an attempt to compare these concepts, but it also characterizes Desnitskii's interest in adapting the ideas of the Scottish Enlightenment to Russian reality and needs and using them in the environment of the advancing feudal empire, to which Desnitskii wants to contribute with his work. Ota Weinberger was a Czech-Austrian jurist, whose core academic work on issues of democracy was mostly published in the 1990s. In his writings, he focused primarily on legal philosophy from a positivist perspective. However, there are also significant overlaps with the field of political theory as Weinberger examined the conditions for the functioning of contemporary democracies. In this paper, some of the main features of his conception of the so-called "structured democracy" are clarified. The conception opposed several other democratic theories, especially the elitist (Schumpeterian), the majoritarian, but also the discursive one, as represented by Jürgen Habermas, with whom Weinberger fundamentally disagreed. Focusing on the challenges brought about by the devastating COVID-19 pandemic in China and the Chinese government's increasingly stringent regulatory policies, this paper poses the following research questions: During the pandemic and in interactions with the government, why did some non-governmental organizations (NGOs) survive while others were shut down, although most of those that survived were small and medium-sized NGOs? In addressing this question, this paper delves into the strategies adopted by small and medium-sized NGOs to cope with COVID-19. Using data drawn from three years of field observations and research in six major cities in China, this paper finds that four types of small and medium-sized NGOs resorted to different strategies that followed degree of competitiveness and scope of main business. The scarcity of resources resulting to the pandemic plunged NGOs into a competitive survival posture; thus, the strategies for the four types of small and medium-sized NGOs achieved three levels of effectiveness, namely good, medium, and poor. This paper examines the impact of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) on China's political influence in international affairs, as mediated by Chinese economic integration with the BRI countries. We propose that the BRI plays a role in influencing partner countries to support China's presence in the international community, and the economic integration of the BRI positively mediates the willingness of partner countries to align with China in international affairs. This paper uses panel data from 147 BRI countries collected between 2009 and 2020, and the difference-in-differences method, to estimate the political influence of the BRI. The results suggest that the BRI motivates partner countries to support the growth of China's influence in international affairs. The results of the causal mechanism analysis indicate that a significant and positive association between the implementation of the BRI and China's influence is mediated by promoting Chinese contracts, trade overseas, and outward FDI. The examinations of heterogeneity demonstrate that BRI countries that are developing, non-landlocked, non-neighboring, having signed the memorandum of understanding or cooperation memorandum of understanding, or lacking a Chinese investment guide are more likely to support China's political presence. This paper complicates the classic security dilemma by considering the notions of ontological security and relational deterrence. It studies how the ontological security dilemma has emerged between the US, China, and Taiwan from the relational perspective and how these spiral chains will further develop in the future. The paper incurs the literature on relational analysis to expound on how different ontological security concerns allude to relational deterrence between the three actors. Taiwan's separatism is more of a threat to China's relational self than to physical security because the separatist does not belong to any already agreed relationship. A geometric model and a few simulations yield three unconventional findings. 1) The less advantaged the US military is over China, the less likely armed unification will occur. 2) The US anti-Chinese tendency is irrelevant in determining the probability of armed unification. 3) What may escalate the spiral are China's anti-Taiwan independence and Taiwan's anti-unification. This paper proposes a parallel algorithm exploiting heterogeneous computing and edge computing for anomaly detection (AD) in remotely sensed multispectral images. These images present high spatial resolution and are captured onboard unmanned aerial vehicles. AD is applied to identify patterns within an image that do not conform to the expected behavior. In this paper, the anomalies correspond to human-made constructions that trigger alarms related to the integrity of fluvial ecosystems. An algorithm based on extracting spatial information by using extinction profiles (EPs) and detecting anomalies by using the Reed–Xiaoli (RX) technique is proposed. The parallel algorithm presented in this paper is designed to be executed on multi-node heterogeneous computing platforms that include nodes with multi-core central processing units (CPUs) and graphics processing units (GPUs) and on a mobile embedded system consisting of a multi-core CPU and a GPU. The experiments are carried out on nodes of the FinisTerrae III supercomputer and, with the objective of analyzing its efficiency under different energy consumption scenarios, on a Jetson AGX Orin. The software-defined network paradigm, ensembled with a wireless sensor network, has emerged as a promising phenomenon to enable multi-tasking, re-configuration, and scalability. Termed the software-defined wireless sensor network (SDWSN), it divides the network into two planes: data and control. The data plane consists of software-defined sensor nodes (SDSN) that sense monitoring activity and generate data. On the other hand, the control plane has controller/control Nodes (CN) which collect data from SDSN, perform data aggregation, and then transmit toward the sink node. These CNs consume more amount of energy as compared to SDSNs as they perform multiple tasks. Following this scenario, this paper proposes an energy-efficient multi-objective optimization approach to solve the CNs placement problem through a meta-heuristic algorithm by considering the nodes' location, energy, and load distribution. This paper presents a particle swarm optimization-based controller placement and re-placement (PSO-CPR) algorithm for SDWSN. The PSO-CPR elects SDSNs to become CN based on their distance, residual energy, and capacity in the network. Moreover, the placement of a CN rotates within the cluster to avoid its failure and balance energy consumption. The simulation results show improved CN placement with respect to the state-of-the-art algorithms in terms of average delay by 23.5–37.4%, energy consumption by 18.6–32.6%, and probabilistic load distribution by 17.7–54.1%. Moreover, the comparative study also indicates that PSO-CPR achieve promising result by reducing packet loss by 14.4–27.5% and network re-clustering period by 32.3–68.3% and enhance the network lifetime by 22.6–42.5%. With the development of science and technology, vehicles have gradually become smart network vehicles. However, applications on vehicles require great network and computing performance. It poses a great challenge to the existing Internet of Vehicles (IoV). Cloud computing can relieve the pressure of data processing, but the response time could take a long time. In the edge computing, edge server processing requests can effectively reduce response time. For example, during rush hour, in order to respond quickly, a large number of requests can be sent from the vehicles layer to the edge server. However, due to the limited bandwidth resources of edge servers, it is necessary to develop an effective bandwidth allocation model. The research in this paper consists of two main parts. First, this paper proposes a multi-objective bandwidth allocation optimization model for addressing this issue. The goal is to minimize average response time and maximize bandwidth utilization. Second, a multi-objective sparrow search algorithm (KMSSA) based on K-means algorithm is proposed to solve multi-objective bandwidth allocation. This paper compares KMSSA with particle swarm optimization (PSO) and sparrow search algorithm (SSA) on iFogSim platform. The results show that KMSSA has good optimization performance. The algorithm can be successfully applied to solve global multi-objective optimization problems. To compare with PSO algorithm, the performance of KMSSA is improved by 10%. To compare with SSA, the performance of KMSSA is improved by 5%. Also, KMSSA has superiority in solving practical problems. This paper introduces the collection of the Journal on Machine Learning (ML) and the user. It provides a brief history of ML from the 1950's through to the current time, sketching the nature of the kinds of precursor AI techniques used in such things as expert systems right the way through to the emergence of ML and its tool sets, including deep learning. It concludes with the 'generative AI' used in such ML technologies as PaLM and GPT-3. The history highlights key changes and developments in ML, the especial importance and limitations of deep learning, and the changing attitudes and expectations of users in an environment when ML can and often is oversold. The paper then explores the ways CSCW research has addressed the social context of organisational systems and how the same can apply for ML tools and techniques. Requirements Engineering (RE) has undergone several transitions over the years, from traditional methods to agile approaches emphasising increased automation. In many software development projects, requirements are expressed in natural language and embedded within large volumes of text documents. At the same time, RE activities aim to define software systems' functionalities and constraints. However, manually executing these tasks is time-consuming and prone to errors. Numerous research efforts have proposed tools and technologies for automating RE activities to address this challenge, which are documented in published works. This review aims to examine empirical evidence on automated RE and analyse its impact on the RE sub-domain and software development. To achieve our goal, we conducted a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following established guidelines for conducting SLRs. We aimed to identify, aggregate, and analyse papers on automated RE published between 1996 and 2022. We outlined the output of the support tool, the RE phase covered, levels of automation, development approach, and evaluation approaches. We identified 85 papers that discussed automated RE from various perspectives and methodologies. The results of this review demonstrate the significance of automated RE for the software development community, which has the potential to shorten development cycles and reduce associated costs. The support tools primarily assist in generating UML models (44.7%) and other activities such as omission of steps, consistency checking, and requirement validation. The analysis phase of RE is the most widely automated phase, with 49.53% of automated tools developed for this purpose. Natural language processing technologies, particularly POS tagging and Parser, are widely employed in developing these support tools. Controlled experimental methods are the most frequently used (48.2%) for evaluating automated RE tools, while user studies are the least employed evaluation method (8.2%). This paper contributes to the existing body of knowledge by providing an updated overview of the research literature, enabling a better understanding of trends and state-of-the-art practices in automated RE for researchers and practitioners. This paper introduces a new hybrid friction energy-absorbing structures (HFEAS), which is consisting of a bearing bush, an anti-creeper device, a pretension bolt, a friction plate, and friction metal/CFRP tubes have been designed in the paper. The friction coefficient of raw material of CFRP was determined by the MM 3000 friction testing machine and a finite element model of HFEAS was established. Experimental verification of the finite element model was conducted, as well as a study of the influence of structural parameters on crashworthiness. By analyzing the parametric influence, the pre_force (P_F) has the largest influence on the HFEAS, followed by diameter (D) and stell_thickness (S_t), pre_length (P_L) and layer_number (L_n). In particular, the peak force increased by 8 times and the platform force was 15 times higher than origin, when P_F increases from 1 to 21 kN; Overall, the HFEAS combines the recycling and tribological characteristics of composite materials, offering a new direction for the iterative upgrading and development of energy-absorbing structures. The article aims to understand the tensions inherent to the commemoration of a difficult and conflicted past and the conservation of dissonant heritage. It explores the politics of memory and identity, and the power struggles that underscore the heritagisation process through a study of the transformation of Rio de Janeiro's port in preparation to host the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympics. The paper uses the notion of heritage dissonance to shed light upon contemporary struggles over the interpretation of the port's contested history and explores the debates that have surrounded the 'discovery' of archeological remains, which exposed a controversial past marked by collective amnesia. The paper identifies various actions, instruments, and strategies used by various actors to either support or undermine the project, from inertia and obstructionism to memorialisation and ritual agency. The analysis of these findings reveals the transformative potential of heritage, as an instrument of empowerment in the ideological battle over collective memory, and a tool of resistance against historical denial. It discusses the way debates over heritage have stimulated public debate, inflected the official historical narrative, and allowed the legacies of slavery to infiltrate collective consciousness. The paper concludes with a discussion of how heritage dissonance can engender actions leading to conflict mediation, thereby promoting reconciliation and dialogue, and, ultimately, societal change. The Repetitive Behaviours Questionnaire for Adults (RBQ-2A) measures two factors of restricted and repetitive behaviours (RRBs) associated with autism. However, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) provides four criteria for RRBs: repetitive motor behaviours, insistence on sameness, restricted interests, and interest in sensory aspects of the environment (or atypical sensitivity). The current paper aimed to examine whether the RBQ-2A is a psychometrically sound measure of these four factors. Study 1 had university students (N = 368) complete the RBQ-2A and other related measures online and revealed that the RBQ-2A can assess the factors highlighted in the DSM-5 and that these four factors comprise a general RRB construct. Study 2 had individuals disclosing a diagnosis of autism (N = 283) complete the RBQ-2A and other related measures online and supported that this four-factor structure provided good psychometric properties. While the current paper provides findings for an online autistic population, further research is needed to generalize these findings to autistic individuals less likely to partake in online studies (e.g., those with intellectual or language disabilities). Highly automated vehicles are subject to high expectations, encompassing safety improvements, efficiency in traffic flow and overall higher comfort. However, it is still unclear to what extent automation will be able to meet these expectations. Failures in sensors or erroneous data processing might bring an automated drive to a sudden stop. In such situations, the user of the vehicle could cooperate with the automated vehicle, to bridge system limits and directly continue the drive. How this cooperation process should be implemented and how much the vehicle user wants to be involved in this process is examined. In this paper, we investigate four different cooperation strategies, ranging from low involvement of the user in the driving task (pressing a button to continue the drive) to high involvement (performing the entire driving task with steering wheel and pedals). Participants experienced these strategies in a driving simulator, in which they encountered five inner city traffic scenarios where the automation reached its limits. The cooperation strategies were evaluated along the dimensions comfort, discomfort, mental demand, usability, perceived safety, trust in automation, personal benefit, and personal preference. As a main result, strategies with less involvement show increases in comfort and personal benefit as well as decreases in discomfort and mental demand. Further, perceived safety was rated highly for all strategies. In traffic scenarios perceived as more unsafe, strategies with higher involvement are preferred. At present, the majority of techniques for assessing image quality are limited to extracting features from an image in a single space. This paper proposes a new dual-space multi-feature fusion based method for full-reference image quality assessment. This method involves simultaneously extracting features from both the YIQ and L*a*b* color spaces. First, we extract the luminance, slope, chroma, and gradient features in the spatial domain of the image to describe the salient differences in the image. Second, based on contrast sensitivity characteristics, we extract spatial frequency features in the spatial domain of the image to represent frequency differences in the image. Next, merge the features extracted in the dual space to construct a quality perception feature vector. Finally, the feature vector is input into the Random Forest model for regression prediction to obtain the predicted score of the image. Many experiments have been carried out on the four public datasets, and contrasted with other methods. The experimental confirm that the proposed method predicts image quality more accurately. This paper discusses the challenges of the current state of computer vision-based indoor scene understanding assistive solutions for the person with visual impairment (P-VI)/blindness. It focuses on two main issues: the lack of user-centered approach in the development process and the lack of guidelines for the selection of appropriate technologies. First, it discusses the needs of users of an assistive solution through state-of-the-art analysis based on a previous systematic review of literature and commercial products and on semi-structured user interviews. Then it proposes an analysis and design framework to address these needs. Our paper presents a set of structured use cases that help to visualize and categorize the diverse real-world challenges faced by the P-VI/blindness in indoor settings, including scene description, object finding, color detection, obstacle avoidance and text reading across different contexts. Next, it details the functional and non-functional requirements to be fulfilled by indoor scene understanding assistive solutions and provides a reference architecture that helps to map the needs into solutions, identifying the components that are necessary to cover the different use cases and respond to the requirements. To further guide the development of the architecture components, the paper offers insights into various available technologies like depth cameras, object detection, segmentation algorithms and optical character recognition (OCR), to enable an informed selection of the most suitable technologies for the development of specific assistive solutions, based on aspects like effectiveness, price and computational cost. In conclusion, by systematically analyzing user needs and providing guidelines for technology selection, this research contributes to the development of more personalized and practical assistive solutions tailored to the unique challenges faced by the P-VI/blindness. Multimodal emotion recognition has achieved good results in emotion recognition tasks by fusing multimodal information such as audio, text, and visual. How to use multimodal interaction and fusion to transform sparse unimodal into compact multimodal has become a vital research hotspot in multimodal emotion recognition. However, in multimodality, the extracted unimodal information needs to be representative. The multimodal fusion will cause the loss of feature information, which creates a particular challenge for multimodal emotion recognition. To address these problems, this paper proposes a three-stage multimodal emotion recognition network based on text low-rank fusion by extracting unimodal features, combining bimodal features, and fusing multimodal features. Specifically, we introduce a Residual-based Attention Mechanism for the first feature extraction stage, which can filter out redundant information and extract valuable unimodal information. Then, we use the Cross-modal Transformer to complete the inter-modal interaction. Finally, we introduce a Text-based Low-rank Fusion Module that enhances multimodal fusion by leveraging the complementarity between different modalities, ensuring comprehensive fused features. The accuracy of the proposed model on CMU-MOSEI, CMU-MOSI, and IEMOCAP datasets is 82.1%, 80.8%, and 83.0%, respectively.
