With the aim of solving the problem of identifying complex underwater acoustic targets using a single signal feature in the Time–Frequency (TF) feature, this paper designs a method that recognizes the underwater targets based on the Delay-Doppler joint feature. First, this method uses symplectic finite Fourier transform (SFFT) to extract the Delay-Doppler features of underwater acoustic signals, analyzes the Time–Frequency features at the same time, and combines the Delay-Doppler (DD) feature and Time–Frequency feature to form a joint feature (TF-DD). This paper uses three types of convolutional neural networks to verify that TF-DD can effectively improve the accuracy of target recognition. Secondly, this paper designs an object recognition model (TF-DD-CNN) based on joint features as input, which simplifies the neural network's overall structure and improves the model's training efficiency. This research employs ship-radiated noise to validate the efficacy of TF-DD-CNN for target identification. In recent years, with the rapid development of deep learning technology, a large number of excellent convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have been proposed, many of which are based on improvements to classical methods. Based on the Inception family of methods, depthwise separable convolution was applied to Xception to achieve lightweighting, and Inception-ResNet introduces residual connections to accelerate model convergence. However, existing improvements for the Inception module often neglect further enhancement of its receptive field, while increasing the receptive field of CNNs has been widely studied and proven to be effective in improving classification performance. Motivated by this fact, three effective expansion modules are proposed in this paper. The first expansion module, Inception expand (Inception-e) module, is proposed to improve the classification accuracy by concatenating more and deeper convolutional branches. To reduce the number of parameters for Inception e, this paper proposes a second expansion module—Equivalent Inception-e (Eception) module, which is equivalent to Inception-e in terms of feature extraction capability, but which suppresses the growth of the parameter quantity brought by the expansion by effectively reducing the redundant convolutional layers; on the basis of Eception, this paper proposes a third expansion module—Lightweight Eception (Lception) module, which crosses depthwise convolution with ordinary convolution to further effectively reduce the number of parameters. The three proposed modules have been validated on the Cifar10 dataset. The experimental results show that all these extensions are effective in improving the classification accuracy of the models, and the most significant effect is the Lception module, where Lception (rank = 4) on the Cifar10 dataset improves the accuracy by 1.5% compared to the baseline model (Inception module A) by using only 0.15 M more parameters. For insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) modules using wire bonding as the interconnection method, the main failure mechanism is cracking of the bonded interface. Studying the mechanical properties of the bonded interface is crucial for assessing the reliability of IGBT modules. In this paper, first, shear tests are conducted on the bonded interface to test the bonded interface's strength. Then, finite element–cohesive zone modeling (FE-CZM) is established to describe the mechanical behavior of the bonded interface. A novel machine learning (ML) architecture integrating a convolutional neural network (CNN) and a long short-term memory (LSTM) network is used to identify the shape and parameters of the traction separation law (TSL) of the FE-CZM model accurately and efficiently. The CNN-LSTM architecture not only has excellent feature extraction and sequence-data-processing abilities but can also effectively address the long-term dependency problem. A total of 1800 sets of datasets are obtained based on numerical computations, and the CNN-LSTM architecture is trained with load–displacement (F–δ) curves as input parameters and TSL shapes and parameters as output parameters. The results show that the error rate of the model for TSL shape prediction is only 0.186%. The performance metric's mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) is less than 3.5044% for all the predictions of the TSL parameters. Compared with separate CNN and LSTM architectures, the proposed CNN-LSTM-architecture approach exhibits obvious advantages in recognizing TSL shapes and parameters. A combination of the FE-CZM and ML methods in this paper provides a promising and effective solution for identifying the mechanical parameters of the bonded interfaces of IGBT modules. Recent technological developments have enabled computers to identify and categorize facial expressions to determine a person's emotional state in an image or a video. This process, called "Facial Expression Recognition (FER)", has become one of the most popular research areas in computer vision. In recent times, deep FER systems have primarily concentrated on addressing two significant challenges: the problem of overfitting due to limited training data availability, and the presence of expression-unrelated variations, including illumination, head pose, image resolution, and identity bias. In this paper, a comprehensive survey is provided on deep FER, encompassing algorithms and datasets that offer insights into these intrinsic problems. Initially, this paper presents a detailed timeline showcasing the evolution of methods and datasets in deep facial expression recognition (FER). This timeline illustrates the progression and development of the techniques and data resources used in FER. Then, a comprehensive review of FER methods is introduced, including the basic principles of FER (components such as preprocessing, feature extraction and classification, and methods, etc.) from the pro-deep learning era (traditional methods using handcrafted features, i.e., SVM and HOG, etc.) to the deep learning era. Moreover, a brief introduction is provided related to the benchmark datasets (there are two categories: controlled environments (lab) and uncontrolled environments (in the wild)) used to evaluate different FER methods and a comparison of different FER models. Existing deep neural networks and related training strategies designed for FER, based on static images and dynamic image sequences, are discussed. The main purpose of this paper is to provide information on how to create a convolutional neural network (CNN) for extracting features from EEG signals. Our task was to understand the primary aspects of creating and fine-tuning CNNs for various application scenarios. We considered the characteristics of EEG signals, coupled with an exploration of various signal processing and data preparation techniques. These techniques include noise reduction, filtering, encoding, decoding, and dimension reduction, among others. In addition, we conduct an in-depth analysis of well-known CNN architectures, categorizing them into four distinct groups: standard implementation, recurrent convolutional, decoder architecture, and combined architecture. This paper further offers a comprehensive evaluation of these architectures, covering accuracy metrics, hyperparameters, and an appendix that contains a table outlining the parameters of commonly used CNN architectures for feature extraction from EEG signals. To enhance the accuracy of theft detection for electricity consumers, this paper introduces a novel strategy based on the fusion of the dual-time feature and deep learning methods. Initially, considering electricity-consumption features at dual temporal scales, the paper employs temporal convolutional networks (TCN) with a long short-term memory (LSTM) multi-level feature extraction module (LSTM-TCN) and deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) to parallelly extract features at these scales. Subsequently, the extracted features are coupled and input into a fully connected (FC) layer for classification, enabling the precise detection of theft users. To validate the method's effectiveness, real electricity-consumption data from the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) is used for testing. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves a remarkable detection accuracy of up to 94.7% during testing, showcasing excellent performance across various evaluation metrics. Specifically, it attained values of 0.932, 0.964, 0.948, and 0.986 for precision, recall, F1 score, and AUC, respectively. Intelligent fault diagnostics based on deep learning provides a favorable guarantee for the reliable operation of equipment, but a trained deep learning model generally has low prediction accuracy in cross-domain diagnostics. To solve this problem, a deep learning fault diagnosis method based on the reconstructed envelope spectrum is proposed to improve the ability of rolling bearing cross-domain fault diagnostics in this paper. First, based on the envelope spectrum morphology of rolling bearing failures, a standard envelope spectrum is constructed that reveals the unique characteristics of different bearing health states and eliminates the differences between domains due to different bearing speeds and bearing models. Then, a fault diagnosis model was constructed using a convolutional neural network to learn features and complete fault classification. Finally, using two publicly available bearing data sets and one bearing data set obtained by self-experimentation, the proposed method is applied to the data of the fault diagnostics of rolling bearings under different rotational speeds and different bearing types. The experimental results show that, compared with some popular feature extraction methods, the proposed method can achieve high diagnostic accuracy with data at different rotational speeds and different bearing types, and it is an effective method for solving the problem with cross-domain fault diagnostics for rolling bearings. In recent years, deep learning methods have achieved remarkable success in hyperspectral image classification (HSIC), and the utilization of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) has proven to be highly effective. However, there are still several critical issues that need to be addressed in the HSIC task, such as the lack of labeled training samples, which constrains the classification accuracy and generalization ability of CNNs. To address this problem, a deep multi-scale attention fusion network (DMAF-NET) is proposed in this paper. This network is based on multi-scale features and fully exploits the deep features of samples from multiple levels and different perspectives with an aim to enhance HSIC results using limited samples. The innovation of this article is mainly reflected in three aspects: Firstly, a novel baseline network for multi-scale feature extraction is designed with a pyramid structure and densely connected 3D octave convolutional network enabling the extraction of deep-level information from features at different granularities. Secondly, a multi-scale spatial–spectral attention module and a pyramidal multi-scale channel attention module are designed, respectively. This allows modeling of the comprehensive dependencies of coordinates and directions, local and global, in four dimensions. Finally, a multi-attention fusion module is designed to effectively combine feature mappings extracted from multiple branches. Hyperspectral image classification (HSIC) has garnered increasing attention among researchers. While classical networks like convolution neural networks (CNNs) have achieved satisfactory results with the advent of deep learning, they are confined to processing local information. Vision transformers, despite being effective at establishing long-distance dependencies, face challenges in extracting high-representation features for high-dimensional images. In this paper, we present the multiscale efficient attention with enhanced feature transformer (MEA-EFFormer), which is designed for the efficient extraction of spectral–spatial features, leading to effective classification. MEA-EFFormer employs a multiscale efficient attention feature extraction module to initially extract 3D convolution features and applies effective channel attention to refine spectral information. Following this, 2D convolution features are extracted and integrated with local binary pattern (LBP) spatial information to augment their representation. Then, the processed features are fed into a spectral–spatial enhancement attention (SSEA) module that facilitates interactive enhancement of spectral–spatial information across the three dimensions. Finally, these features undergo classification through a transformer encoder. Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) need to replicate feature detectors when modeling spatial information, which reduces their efficiency. The number of replicated feature detectors or labeled training data required for such methods grows exponentially with the dimensionality of the data being used. On the other hand, space-insensitive methods are difficult to encode and express effectively due to the limitation of their rich text structures. In response to the above problems, this paper proposes a capsule network (self-attention capsule network, or SA-CapsNet) with a self-attention mechanism for text classification tasks, wherein the capsule network itself, given the feature with the symmetry hint on two ends, acts as both encoder and decoder. In order to learn long-distance dependent features in sentences and encode text information more efficiently, SA-CapsNet maps the self-attention module to the feature extraction layer of the capsule network, thereby increasing its feature extraction ability and overcoming the limitations of convolutional neural networks. In addition, in this study, in order to improve the accuracy of the model, the capsule was improved by reducing its dimension and an intermediate layer was added, enabling the model to obtain more expressive instantiation features in a given sentence. Finally, experiments were carried out on three general datasets of different sizes, namely the IMDB, MPQA, and MR datasets. The accuracy of the model on these three datasets was 84.72%, 80.31%, and 75.38%, respectively. Furthermore, compared with the benchmark algorithm, the model's performance on these datasets was promising, with an increase in accuracy of 1.08%, 0.39%, and 1.43%, respectively. This study focused on reducing the parameters of the model for various applications, such as edge and mobile applications. Electroencephalography (EEG)-based emotion recognition is increasingly pivotal in the realm of affective brain–computer interfaces. In this paper, we propose TSANN-TG (temporal–spatial attention neural network with a task-specific graph), a novel neural network architecture tailored for enhancing feature extraction and effectively integrating temporal–spatial features. TSANN-TG comprises three primary components: a node-feature-encoding-and-adjacency-matrices-construction block, a graph-aggregation block, and a graph-feature-fusion-and-classification block. Leveraging the distinct temporal scales of features from EEG signals, TSANN-TG incorporates attention mechanisms for efficient feature extraction. By constructing task-specific adjacency matrices, the graph convolutional network with an attention mechanism captures the dynamic changes in dependency information between EEG channels. Additionally, TSANN-TG emphasizes feature integration at multiple levels, leading to improved performance in emotion-recognition tasks. Our proposed TSANN-TG is applied to both our FTEHD dataset and the publicly available DEAP dataset. Comparative experiments and ablation studies highlight the excellent recognition results achieved. Compared to the baseline algorithms, TSANN-TG demonstrates significant enhancements in accuracy and F1 score on the two benchmark datasets for four types of cognitive tasks. Deep transfer learning has been widely used to improve the versatility of models. In the problem of cross-domain fault diagnosis in rolling bearings, most models require that the given data have a similar distribution, which limits the diagnostic effect and generalization of the model. This paper proposes a deep reconstruction transfer convolutional neural network (DRTCNN), which satisfies the domain adaptability of the model under cross-domain conditions. Firstly, the model uses a deep reconstruction convolutional automatic encoder for feature extraction and data reconstruction. Through sharing parameters and unsupervised training, the structural information of target domain samples is effectively used to extract domain-invariant features. Secondly, a new subdomain alignment loss function is introduced to align the subdomain distribution of the source domain and the target domain, which can improve the classification accuracy by reducing the intra-class distance and increasing the inter-class distance. In addition, a label smoothing algorithm considering the credibility of the sample is introduced to train the model classifier to avoid the impact of wrong labels on the training process. Natural hazards are considered to have a strong link with climate change and human activities. With the rapid advancements in remote sensing technology, real-time monitoring and high-resolution remote-sensing images have become increasingly available, which provide precise details about the Earth's surface and enable prompt updates to support risk identification and management. This paper proposes a new network framework with Transformer architecture and a Residual network for detecting the changes in high-resolution remote-sensing images. The proposed model is trained using remote-sensing images from Shandong and Anhui Provinces of China in 2021 and 2022 while one district in 2023 is used to test the prediction accuracy. The performance of the proposed model is evaluated by using five matrices and further compared to both convention-based and attention-based models. The results demonstrated that the proposed structure integrates the great capability of conventional neural networks for image feature extraction with the ability to obtain global context from the attention mechanism, resulting in significant improvements in balancing positive sample identification while avoiding false positives in complex image change detection. Ship detection aims to automatically identify whether there are ships in the images, precisely classifies and localizes them. Regardless of whether utilizing early manually designed methods or deep learning technology, ship detection is dedicated to exploring the inherent characteristics of ships to enhance recall. Nowadays, high-precision ship detection plays a crucial role in civilian and military applications. In order to provide a comprehensive review of ship detection in optical remote-sensing images (SDORSIs), this paper summarizes the challenges as a guide. These challenges include complex marine environments, insufficient discriminative features, large scale variations, dense and rotated distributions, large aspect ratios, and imbalances between positive and negative samples. We meticulously review the improvement methods and conduct a detailed analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of these methods. We compile ship information from common optical remote sensing image datasets and compare algorithm performance. Simultaneously, we compare and analyze the feature extraction capabilities of backbones based on CNNs and Transformer, seeking new directions for the development in SDORSIs. Ensuring the safety of transmission lines necessitates effective insulator defect detection. Traditional methods often need more efficiency and accuracy, particularly for tiny defects. This paper proposes an innovative insulator defect recognition method leveraging YOLOv8s-SwinT. Combining Swin Transformer and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) enhances the model's understanding of multi-scale global semantic information through cross-layer interactions. The improved BiFPN structure in the neck achieves bidirectional cross-scale connections and weighted feature fusion during feature extraction. Additionally, a new small-target detection layer enhances the capability to detect tiny defects. The experimental results showcase outstanding performance, with precision, recall, and mAP reaching 95.6%, 95.3%, and 97.7%, respectively. With the advancement of neural networks, more and more neural networks are being applied to structural health monitoring systems (SHMSs). When an SHMS requires the integration of numerous neural networks, high-performance and low-latency networks are favored. This paper focuses on damage detection based on vibration signals. In contrast to traditional neural network approaches, this study utilizes a stochastic configuration network (SCN). An SCN is an incrementally learning network that randomly configures appropriate neurons based on data and errors. It is an emerging neural network that does not require predefined network structures and is not based on gradient descent. While SCNs dynamically define the network structure, they essentially function as fully connected neural networks that fail to capture the temporal properties of monitoring data effectively. Moreover, they suffer from inference time and computational cost issues. To enable faster and more accurate operation within the monitoring system, this paper introduces a stochastic convolutional feature extraction approach that does not rely on backpropagation. Additionally, a random node deletion algorithm is proposed to automatically prune redundant neurons in SCNs, addressing the issue of network node redundancy. Experimental results demonstrate that the feature extraction method improves accuracy by 30% compared to the original SCN, and the random node deletion algorithm removes approximately 10% of neurons. Hyperspectral images' (HSIs) classification research has seen significant progress with the use of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and Transformer blocks. However, these studies primarily incorporated Transformer blocks at the end of their network architectures. Due to significant differences between the spectral and spatial features in HSIs, the extraction of both global and local spectral–spatial features remains incomplete. To address this challenge, this paper introduces a novel method called TransHSI. This method incorporates a new spectral–spatial feature extraction module that leverages 3D CNNs to fuse Transformer to extract the local and global spectral features of HSIs, then combining 2D CNNs and Transformer to capture the local and global spatial features of HSIs comprehensively. Furthermore, a fusion module is proposed, which not only integrates the learned shallow and deep features of HSIs but also applies a semantic tokenizer to transform the fused features, enhancing the discriminative power of the features. This paper conducts experiments on three public datasets: Indian Pines, Pavia University, and Data Fusion Contest 2018. The training and test sets are selected based on a disjoint sampling strategy. We perform a comparative analysis with 11 traditional and advanced HSI classification algorithms. The application of edge computing combined with the Internet of Things (edge-IoT) has been rapidly developed. It is of great significance to develop a lightweight network for gearbox compound fault diagnosis in the edge-IoT context. The goal of this paper is to devise a novel and high-accuracy lightweight neural network based on Legendre multiwavelet transform and multi-channel convolutional neural network (LMWT-MCNN) to fast recognize various compound fault categories of gearbox. The contributions of this paper mainly lie in three aspects: The feature images are designed based on the LMWT frequency domain and they are easily implemented in the MCNN model to effectively avoid noise interference. The proposed lightweight model only consists of three convolutional layers and three pooling layers to further extract the most valuable fault features without any artificial feature extraction. In a fully connected layer, the specific fault type of rotating machinery is identified by the multi-label method. This paper provides a promising technique for rotating machinery fault diagnosis in real applications based on edge-IoT, which can largely reduce labor costs. Finally, the PHM 2009 gearbox and Paderborn University bearing compound fault datasets are used to verify the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method. The characteristics of acoustic emission signals generated in the process of rock deformation and fission contain rich information on internal rock damage. The use of acoustic emissions monitoring technology can analyze and identify the precursor information of rock failure. At present, in the field of acoustic emissions monitoring and the early warning of rock fracture disasters, there is no real-time identification method for a disaster precursor characteristic signal. It is easy to lose information by analyzing the characteristic parameters of traditional acoustic emissions to find signals that serve as precursors to disasters, and analysis has mostly been based on post-analysis, which leads to poor real-time recognition of disaster precursor characteristics and low application levels in the engineering field. Based on this, this paper regards the acoustic emissions signal of rock fracture as a kind of speech signal generated by rock fracture uses this idea of speech recognition for reference alongside spectral analysis (STFT) and Mel frequency analysis to realize the feature extraction of acoustic emissions from rock fracture. In deep learning, based on the VGG16 convolutional neural network and AlexNet convolutional neural network, six intelligent real-time recognition models of rock fracture and key acoustic emission signals were constructed, and the network structure and loss function of traditional VGG16 were optimized. The experimental results show that these six deep-learning models can achieve the real-time intelligent recognition of key signals, and Mel, combined with the improved VGG16, achieved the best performance with 87.68% accuracy and 81.05% recall. Then, by comparing multiple groups of signal recognition models, Mel+VGG-FL proposed in this paper was verified as having a high recognition accuracy and certain recognition efficiency, performing the intelligent real-time recognition of key acoustic emission signals in the process of rock fracture more accurately, which can provide new ideas and methods for related research and the real-time intelligent recognition of rock fracture precursor characteristics. Accurate estimation of Li-ion battery capacity is critical for a battery management system (BMS). This paper proposes an innovative method which combines a convolutional neural network and incremental capacity analysis (ICA). In the present approach, the voltage and temperature, which significantly affect the ICA curve during the discharging process, are adopted as the inputs for CNN. Rather than extracting feature parameters of an IC curve, as is carried out in the available research, the present method uses the whole ICA curve as the input to avoid complicated feature extraction and correlation analysis. The results show that the maximum error of capacity estimation is less than 4.7%, the rectified mean squared error is less than 1.3% for each battery, and the overall RMSE is below 1.12%. Dynamic monitoring of cropland using high spatial resolution remote sensing images is a powerful means to protect cropland resources. However, when a change detection method based on a convolutional neural network employs a large number of convolution and pooling operations to mine the deep features of cropland, the accumulation of irrelevant features and the loss of key features will lead to poor detection results. To effectively solve this problem, a novel cropland change detection network (CroplandCDNet) is proposed in this paper; this network combines an adaptive receptive field and multiscale feature transmission fusion to achieve accurate detection of cropland change information. CroplandCDNet first effectively extracts the multiscale features of cropland from bitemporal remote sensing images through the feature extraction module and subsequently embeds the receptive field adaptive SK attention (SKA) module to emphasize cropland change. Moreover, the SKA module effectively uses spatial context information for the dynamic adjustment of the convolution kernel size of cropland features at different scales. Finally, multiscale features and difference features are transmitted and fused layer by layer to obtain the content of cropland change. In the experiments, the proposed method is compared with six advanced change detection methods using the cropland change detection dataset (CLCD). The experimental results show that CroplandCDNet achieves the best F1 and OA at 76.04% and 94.47%, respectively. Its precision and recall are second best of all models at 76.46% and 75.63%, respectively. This study introduces a novel nonlinear dynamic analysis method, known as beluga whale optimization–slope entropy (BWO-SlEn), to address the challenge of recognizing sea state signals (SSSs) in complex marine environments. A method of underwater acoustic signal recognition based on BWO-SlEn and one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1D-CNN) is proposed. Firstly, particle swarm optimization–slope entropy (PSO-SlEn), BWO-SlEn, and Harris hawk optimization–slope entropy (HHO-SlEn) were used for feature extraction of noise signal and SSS. After 1D-CNN classification, BWO-SlEn were found to have the best recognition effect. Secondly, fuzzy entropy (FE), sample entropy (SE), permutation entropy (PE), and dispersion entropy (DE) were used to extract the signal features. After 1D-CNN classification, BWO-SlEn and 1D-CNN were found to have the highest recognition rate compared with them. Finally, compared with the other six recognition methods, the recognition rates of BWO-SlEn and 1D-CNN for the noise signal and SSS are at least 6% and 4.75% higher, respectively. Hyperspectral remote sensing images (HSIs) have both spectral and spatial characteristics. The adept exploitation of these attributes is central to enhancing the classification accuracy of HSIs. In order to effectively utilize spatial and spectral features to classify HSIs, this paper proposes a method for the spatial feature extraction of HSIs based on a mutually guided image filter (muGIF) and combined with the band-distance-grouped principal component. Firstly, aiming at the problem that previously guided image filtering cannot effectively deal with the inconsistent information structure between the guided and target information, a method for extracting spatial features using muGIF is proposed. Then, aiming at the problem of the information loss caused by a single principal component as a guided image in the traditional GIF-based spatial–spectral classification, a spatial feature-extraction framework based on the band-distance-grouped principal component is proposed. The method groups the bands according to the band distance and extracts the principal components of each set of band subsets as the guide map of the current band subset to filter the HSIs. A deep convolutional neural network model and a generative adversarial network model for the filtered HSIs are constructed and then trained using samples for HSIs' spatial–spectral classification. Leveraging multi-view remote sensing images in scene classification tasks significantly enhances the precision of such classifications. This approach, however, poses challenges due to the simultaneous use of multi-view images, which often leads to a misalignment between the visual content and semantic labels, thus complicating the classification process. In addition, as the number of image viewpoints increases, the quality problem for remote sensing images further limits the effectiveness of multi-view image classification. Traditional scene classification methods predominantly employ SoftMax deep learning techniques, which lack the capability to assess the quality of remote sensing images or to provide explicit explanations for the network's predictive outcomes. To address these issues, this paper introduces a novel end-to-end multi-view decision fusion network specifically designed for remote sensing scene classification. The network integrates information from multi-view remote sensing images under the guidance of image credibility and uncertainty, and when the multi-view image fusion process encounters conflicts, it greatly alleviates the conflicts and provides more reasonable and credible predictions for the multi-view scene classification results. Initially, multi-scale features are extracted from the multi-view images using convolutional neural networks (CNNs). Following this, an asymptotic adaptive feature fusion module (AAFFM) is constructed to gradually integrate these multi-scale features. An adaptive spatial fusion method is then applied to assign different spatial weights to the multi-scale feature maps, thereby significantly enhancing the model's feature discrimination capability. Finally, an evidence decision fusion module (EDFM), utilizing evidence theory and the Dirichlet distribution, is developed. This module quantitatively assesses the uncertainty in the multi-perspective image classification process. Through the fusing of multi-perspective remote sensing image information in this module, a rational explanation for the prediction results is provided. The efficacy of the proposed method was validated through experiments conducted on the AiRound and CV-BrCT datasets. The tea industry, as one of the most globally important agricultural products, is characterized by pests and diseases that pose a serious threat to yield and quality. These diseases and pests often present different scales and morphologies, and some pest and disease target sizes can be tiny and difficult to detect. To solve these problems, we propose TeaViTNet, a multi-scale attention-based tea pest and disease detection model that combines CNNs and Transformers. First, MobileViT is used as the feature extraction backbone network. MobileViT captures and analyzes the tiny pest and disease features in the image via a self-attention mechanism and global feature extraction. Second, the EMA-PANet network is introduced to optimize the model's learning and attention to the Apolygus lucorum and leaf blight regions via an efficient multi-scale attention module with cross-space learning, which improves the model's ability to understand multi-scale information. In addition, RFBNet is embedded in the module to further expand the perceptual range and effectively capture the information of tiny features in tea leaf images. Finally, the ODCSPLayer convolutional block is introduced, aiming to focus on acquiring richer gradient flow information. The experimental results show that the TeaViTNet model proposed in this paper has an average accuracy of 89.1%, which is a significant improvement over the baseline network MobileViT and is capable of accurately detecting Apolygus lucorum and leaf blight of different scales and complexities. Myocardial Infarction (MI), commonly known as heart attack, is a cardiac condition characterized by damage to a portion of the heart, specifically the myocardium, due to the disruption of blood flow. Given its recurring and often asymptomatic nature, there is the need for continuous monitoring using wearable devices. This paper proposes a single-microcontroller-based system designed for the automatic detection of MI based on the Edge Computing paradigm. Two solutions for MI detection are evaluated, based on Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) techniques. The developed algorithms are based on two different approaches currently available in the literature, and they are optimized for deployment on low-resource hardware. A feasibility assessment of their implementation on a single 32-bit microcontroller with an ARM Cortex-M4 core was examined, and a comparison in terms of accuracy, inference time, and memory usage was detailed. For ML techniques, significant data processing for feature extraction, coupled with a simpler Neural Network (NN) is involved. On the other hand, the second method, based on DL, employs a Spectrogram Analysis for feature extraction and a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) with a longer inference time and higher memory utilization. Both methods employ the same low power hardware reaching an accuracy of 89.40% and 94.76%, respectively. The final prototype is an energy-efficient system capable of real-time detection of MI without the need to connect to remote servers or the cloud. Deep learning is an important research topic in the field of image super-resolution. Problematically, the performance of existing hyperspectral image super-resolution networks is limited by feature learning for hyperspectral images. Nevertheless, the current algorithms exhibit some limitations in extracting diverse features. In this paper, we address limitations to existing hyperspectral image super-resolution networks, focusing on feature learning challenges. We introduce the Channel-Attention-Based Spatial–Spectral Feature Extraction network (CSSFENet) to enhance hyperspectral image feature diversity and optimize network loss functions. Our contributions include: (a) a convolutional neural network super-resolution algorithm incorporating diverse feature extraction to enhance the network's diversity feature learning by elevating the matrix rank, (b) a three-dimensional (3D) feature extraction convolution module, the Channel-Attention-Based Spatial–Spectral Feature Extraction Module (CSSFEM), to boost the network's performance in both the spatial and spectral domains, (c) a feature diversity loss function designed based on the image matrix's singular value to maximize element independence, and (d) a spatial–spectral gradient loss function introduced based on space and spectrum gradient values to enhance the reconstructed image's spatial–spectral smoothness. Automatic extraction of building contours from high-resolution images is of great significance in the fields of urban planning, demographics, and disaster assessment. Network models based on convolutional neural network (CNN) and transformer technology have been widely used for semantic segmentation of buildings from high resolution remote sensing images (HRSI). However, the fixed geometric structure and the local receptive field of the convolutional kernel are not good at global feature extraction, and the transformer technique with self-attention mechanism introduces computational redundancies and extracts local feature details poorly in the process of modeling the global contextual information. In this paper, a dual-branch fused reconstructive transformer network, DFRTNet, is proposed for efficient and accurate building extraction. In the encoder, the traditional transformer is reconfigured by designing the local and global feature extraction module (LGFE); the branch of global feature extraction (GFE) performs dynamic range attention (DRA) based on the idea of top-k attention for extracting global features; furthermore, the branch of local feature extraction (LFE) is used to obtain fine-grained features. The multilayer perceptron (MLP) is employed to efficiently fuse the local and global features. In the decoder, a simple channel attention module (CAM) is used in the up-sampling part to enhance channel dimension features. This paper proposed a real-time fault diagnostic method for hydraulic systems using data collected from multiple sensors. The method is based on a proposed multi-sensor convolutional neural network (MS-CNN) that incorporates feature extraction, sensor selection, and fault diagnosis into an end-to-end model. Both the sensor selection process and fault diagnosis process are based on abstract fault-related features learned by a CNN deep learning model. Therefore, compared with the traditional sensor-and-feature selection method, the proposed MS-CNN can find the sensor channels containing higher-level fault-related features, which provides two advantages for diagnosis. First, the sensor selection can reduce the redundant information and improve the diagnostic performance of the model. Secondly, the reduced number of sensors simplifies the model, reducing communication burden and computational complexity. These two advantages make the MS-CNN suitable for real-time hydraulic system fault diagnosis, in which the multi-sensor feature extraction and the computation speed are both significant. The proposed MS-CNN approach is evaluated experimentally on an electric-hydraulic subsea control system test rig and an open-source dataset. Accurate delineation of individual agricultural plots, the foundational units for agriculture-based activities, is crucial for effective government oversight of agricultural productivity and land utilization. To improve the accuracy of plot segmentation in high-resolution remote sensing images, the paper collects GF-2 satellite remote sensing images, uses ArcGIS10.3.1 software to establish datasets, and builds UNet, SegNet, DeeplabV3+, and TransUNet neural network frameworks, respectively, for experimental analysis. Then, the TransUNet network with the best segmentation effects is optimized in both the residual module and the skip connection to further improve its performance for plot segmentation in high-resolution remote sensing images. This article introduces Deformable ConvNets in the residual module to improve the original ResNet50 feature extraction network and combines the convolutional block attention module (CBAM) at the skip connection to calculate and improve the skip connection steps. Experimental results indicate that the optimized remote sensing plot segmentation algorithm based on the TransUNet network achieves an Accuracy of 86.02%, a Recall of 83.32%, an F1-score of 84.67%, and an Intersection over Union (IOU) of 86.90%. Compared to the original TransUNet network for remote sensing land parcel segmentation, whose F1-S is 81.94% and whose IoU is 69.41%, the optimized TransUNet network has significantly improved the performance of remote sensing land parcel segmentation, which verifies the effectiveness and reliability of the plot segmentation algorithm. Lightweight ship detection is an important application of synthetic aperture radar (SAR). The prevailing trend in recent research involves employing a detection framework based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and horizontal bounding boxes (HBBs). However, CNNs with local receptive fields fall short in acquiring adequate contextual information and exhibit sensitivity to noise. Moreover, HBBs introduce significant interference from both the background and adjacent ships. To overcome these limitations, this paper proposes a lightweight transformer-based method for detecting arbitrarily oriented ships in SAR images, called LD-Det, which excels at promptly and accurately identifying rotating ship targets. First, light pyramid vision transformer (LightPVT) is introduced as a lightweight backbone network. Built upon PVT v2-B0-Li, it effectively captures the long-range dependencies of ships in SAR images. Subsequently, multi-scale deformable feature pyramid network (MDFPN) is constructed as a neck network, utilizing the multi-scale deformable convolution (MDC) module to adjust receptive field regions and extract ship features from SAR images more effectively. Lastly, shared deformable head (SDHead) is proposed as a head network, enhancing ship feature extraction with the combination of deformable convolution operations and a shared parameter structure design. Experimental evaluations on two publicly available datasets validate the efficacy of the proposed method. In the context of TinyML, many research efforts have been devoted to designing forward topologies to support On-Device Learning. Reaching this target would bring numerous advantages, including reductions in latency and computational complexity, stronger privacy, data safety and robustness to adversarial attacks, higher resilience against concept drift, etc. However, On-Device Learning on resource constrained devices poses severe limitations to computational power and memory. Therefore, deploying Neural Networks on tiny devices appears to be prohibitive, since their backpropagation-based training is too memory demanding for their embedded assets. Using Extreme Learning Machines based on Convolutional Neural Networks might be feasible and very convenient, especially for Feature Extraction tasks. However, it requires searching for a randomly initialized topology that achieves results as good as those achieved by the backpropagated model. This work proposes a novel approach for automatically composing an Extreme Convolutional Feature Extractor, based on Neural Architecture Search and Bayesian Optimization. It was applied to the CIFAR-10 and MNIST datasets for evaluation. Two search spaces have been defined, as well as a search strategy that has been tested with two surrogate models, Gaussian Process and Random Forest. A performance estimation strategy was defined, keeping the feature set computed by the MLCommons-Tiny benchmark ResNet as a reference model. In as few as 1200 search iterations, the proposed strategy was able to achieve a topology whose extracted features scored a mean square error equal to 0.64 compared to the reference set. Further improvements are required, with a target of at least one order of magnitude decrease in mean square error for improved classification accuracy. Diabetes is a widely spread disease that significantly affects people's lives. The leading cause is uncontrolled levels of blood glucose, which develop eye defects over time, including Diabetic Retinopathy (DR), which results in severe visual loss. The primary factor causing blindness is considered to be DR in diabetic patients. DR treatment tries to control the disease's severity, as it is irreversible. The primary goal of this effort is to create a reliable method for automatically detecting the severity of DR. This paper proposes a new automated system (DR-NASNet) to detect and classify DR severity using an improved pretrained NASNet Model. To develop the DR-NASNet system, we first utilized a preprocessing technique that takes advantage of Ben Graham and CLAHE to lessen noise, emphasize lesions, and ultimately improve DR classification performance. Taking into account the imbalance between classes in the dataset, data augmentation procedures were conducted to control overfitting. Next, we have integrated dense blocks into the NASNet architecture to improve the effectiveness of classification results for five severity levels of DR. In practice, the DR-NASNet model achieves state-of-the-art results with a smaller model size and lower complexity. To test the performance of the DR-NASNet system, a combination of various datasets is used in this paper. To learn effective features from DR images, we used a pretrained model on the dataset. The last step is to put the image into one of five categories: No DR, Mild, Moderate, Proliferate, or Severe. To carry this out, the classifier layer of a linear SVM with a linear activation function must be added. The DR-NASNet system was tested using six different experiments. The system achieves 96.05% accuracy with the challenging DR dataset. The results and comparisons demonstrate that the DR-NASNet system improves a model's performance and learning ability. Gait phase recognition is of great importance in the development of rehabilitation devices. The advantages of Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) are combined (LSTM-CNN) in this paper, then a gait phase recognition method based on LSTM-CNN neural network model is proposed. In the LSTM-CNN model, the LSTM layer is used to process temporal sequences and the CNN layer is used to extract features A wireless sensor system including six inertial measurement units (IMU) fixed on the six positions of the lower limbs was developed. The difference in the gait recognition performance of the LSTM-CNN model was estimated using different groups of input data collected by seven different IMU grouping methods. Four phases in a complete gait were considered in this paper including the supporting phase with the right hill strike (SU-RHS), left leg swimming phase (SW-L), the supporting phase with the left hill strike (SU-LHS), and right leg swimming phase (SW-R). The results show that the best performance of the model in gait recognition appeared based on the group of data from all the six IMUs, with the recognition precision and macro-F1 unto 95.03% and 95.29%, respectively. At the same time, the best phase recognition accuracy for SU-RHS and SW-R appeared and up to 96.49% and 95.64%, respectively. The results also showed the best phase recognition accuracy (97.22%) for SW-L was acquired based on the group of data from four IMUs located at the left and right thighs and shanks. Comparably, the best phase recognition accuracy (97.86%) for SU-LHS was acquired based on the group of data from four IMUs located at left and right shanks and feet. Ulteriorly, a novel gait recognition method based on Data Pre-Filtering Long Short-Term Memory and Convolutional Neural Network (DPF-LSTM-CNN) model was proposed and its performance for gait phase recognition was evaluated. In the field of image fusion, spatial detail blurring and color distortion appear in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images and multispectral (MS) during the traditional fusion process due to the difference in sensor imaging mechanisms. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a fusion method for SAR images and MS images based on a convolutional neural network. In order to make use of the spatial information and different scale feature information of high-resolution SAR image, a dual-channel feature extraction module is constructed to obtain a SAR image feature map. In addition, different from the common direct addition strategy, an attention-based feature fusion module is designed to achieve spectral fidelity of the fused images. In order to obtain better spectral and spatial retention ability of the network, an unsupervised joint loss function is designed to train the network. In this paper, the Sentinel 1 SAR images and Landsat 8 MS images are used as datasets for experiments. Accurately detecting falls and providing clear directions for the fall can greatly assist medical staff in promptly developing rescue plans and reducing secondary injuries during transportation to the hospital. In order to facilitate portability and protect people's privacy, this paper presents a novel method for detecting fall direction during motion using the FMCW radar. We analyze the fall direction in motion based on the correlation between different motion states. The range–time (RT) features and Doppler–time (DT) features of the person from the motion state to the fallen state were obtained by using the FMCW radar. We analyzed the different features of the two states and used a two-branch convolutional neural network (CNN) to detect the falling direction of the person. In order to improve the reliability of the model, this paper presents a pattern feature extraction (PFE) algorithm that effectively eliminates noise and outliers in RT maps and DT maps. The experimental results show that the method proposed in this paper has an identification accuracy of 96.27% for different falling directions, which can accurately identify the falling direction and improve the efficiency of rescue. A significant majority of the population in India makes their living through agriculture. Different illnesses that develop due to changing weather patterns and are caused by pathogenic organisms impact the yields of diverse plant species. The present article analyzed some of the existing techniques in terms of data sources, pre-processing techniques, feature extraction techniques, data augmentation techniques, models utilized for detecting and classifying diseases that affect the plant, how the quality of images was enhanced, how overfitting of the model was reduced, and accuracy. The research papers for this study were selected using various keywords from peer-reviewed publications from various databases published between 2010 and 2022. Due to the complexity of electromechanical equipment and the difficulties in obtaining large-scale health monitoring datasets, as well as the long-tailed distribution of data, existing methods ignore certain characteristics of health monitoring data. In order to solve these problems, this paper proposes a method for the fault diagnosis of rolling bearings in electromechanical equipment based on an improved prototypical network—the weight prototypical networks (WPorNet). The main contributions of this paper are as follows: (1) the prototypical networks, which perform well on small-sample classification tasks, were improved by calculating the different levels of influence of support sample distributions in order to achieve the prototypical calculation. The change in sample influence was calculated using the Kullback–Leibler divergence of the sample distribution. The influence change in a specific sample can be measured by assessing how much the distribution changes in the absence of that sample; and (2) The Gramian Angular Field (GAF) algorithm was used to transform one-dimensional time series into two-dimensional vibration images, which greatly improved the application effect of the 2D convolutional neural network (CNN). Through experiments on MAFAULDA and CWRU bearing datasets, it was shown that this network effectively solves the shortcomings of a small number of valid samples and a long-tail distribution in health monitoring data, it enhances the dependency between the samples and the global data, it improves the model's feature extraction ability, and it enhances the accuracy of model classification. Compared with the prototypical network, the improved network model increased the performance of the 2-way 10-shot, 2-way 20-shot, and 2-way 50-shot classification tasks by 5.23%, 5.74%, and 4.37%, respectively, and it increased the performance of the 4-way 10-shot, 4-way 20-shot, and 4-way 50-shot classification tasks by 12.02%, 10.47%, and 4.66%, respectively. Experimental results show that the improved prototypical network model has higher sample classification accuracy and stronger anti-interference ability compared with traditional small-sample classification models. In recent years, the application of semantic segmentation methods based on the remote sensing of images has become increasingly prevalent across a diverse range of domains, including but not limited to forest detection, water body detection, urban rail transportation planning, and building extraction. With the incorporation of the Transformer model into computer vision, the efficacy and accuracy of these algorithms have been significantly enhanced. Nevertheless, the Transformer model's high computational complexity and dependence on a pre-training weight of large datasets leads to a slow convergence during the training for remote sensing segmentation tasks. Motivated by the success of the adapter module in the field of natural language processing, this paper presents a novel adapter module (ResAttn) for improving the model training speed for remote sensing segmentation. The ResAttn adopts a dual-attention structure in order to capture the interdependencies between sets of features, thereby improving its global modeling capabilities, and introduces a Swin Transformer-like down-sampling method to reduce information loss and retain the original architecture while reducing the resolution. In addition, the existing Transformer model is limited in its ability to capture local high-frequency information, which can lead to an inadequate extraction of edge and texture features. To address these issues, this paper proposes a Local Feature Extractor (LFE) module, which is based on a convolutional neural network (CNN), and incorporates multi-scale feature extraction and residual structure to effectively overcome this limitation. Further, a mask-based segmentation method is employed and a residual-enhanced deformable attention block (Deformer Block) is incorporated to improve the small target segmentation accuracy. Early rice disease detection is vital in preventing damage to agricultural product output and quantity in the agricultural field. Manual observations of rice diseases are tedious, costly, and time-consuming, especially when classifying disease patterns and color while dealing with non- native diseases. Hence, image processing and Machine Learning (ML) techniques are used to detect rice disease early and within a relatively brief time period. This article aims to demonstrate the performance of different ML algorithms in rice disease detection through image processing. We critically examined different techniques, and the outcomes of previous research have been reviewed to compare the performance of rice disease classifications. Performance has been evaluated based on the criteria of feature extraction, clustering, segmentation, noise reduction, and level of accuracy of disease detection techniques. This paper also showcases various algorithms for different datasets in terms of training methods, image preprocessing with clustering and filtering criteria, and testing with reliable outcomes. Vehicle type and brand information constitute a crucial element in intelligent transportation systems (ITSs). While numerous appearance-based classification methods have studied frontal view images of vehicles, the challenge of multi-pose and multi-angle vehicle distribution has largely been overlooked. This paper proposes an appearance-based classification approach for multi-angle vehicle information recognition, addressing the aforementioned issues. By utilizing faster regional convolution neural networks, this method automatically captures crucial features for vehicle type and brand identification, departing from traditional handcrafted feature extraction techniques. To extract rich and discriminative vehicle information, ZFNet and VGG16 are employed. Vehicle feature maps are then imported into the region proposal network and classification location refinement network, with the former generating candidate regions potentially containing vehicle targets on the feature map. Subsequently, the latter network refines vehicle locations and classifies vehicle types. Additionally, a comprehensive vehicle dataset, Car5_48, is constructed to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, encompassing multi-angle images across five vehicle types and 48 vehicle brands. In recent years, deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have made significant progress in single-image super-resolution (SISR) tasks. Despite their good performance, the single-image super-resolution task remains a challenging one due to problems with underutilization of feature information and loss of feature details. In this paper, a multi-scale recursive attention feature fusion network (MSRAFFN) is proposed for this purpose. The network consists of three parts: a shallow feature extraction module, a multi-scale recursive attention feature fusion module, and a reconstruction module. The shallow features of the image are first extracted by the shallow feature extraction module. Then, the feature information at different scales is extracted by the multi-scale recursive attention feature fusion network block (MSRAFFB) to enhance the channel features of the network through the attention mechanism and fully fuse the feature information at different scales in order to improve the network's performance. In addition, the image features at different levels are integrated through cross-layer connections using residual connections. Finally, in the reconstruction module, the upsampling capability of the deconvolution module is used to enlarge the image while extracting its high-frequency information in order to obtain a sharper high-resolution image and achieve a better visual effect. Through extensive experiments on a benchmark dataset, the proposed network model is shown to have better performance than other models in terms of both subjective visual effects and objective evaluation metrics. In this paper, a quadratic convolution neural network (QCNN) using both audio and vibration signals is utilized for bearing fault diagnosis. Specifically, to make use of multi-modal information for bearing fault diagnosis, the audio and vibration signals are first fused together using a 1 × 1 convolution. Then, a quadratic convolution neural network is applied for the fusion feature extraction. Finally, a decision module is designed for fault classification. The proposed method utilizes the complementary information of audio and vibration signals, and is insensitive to noise. The experimental results show that the accuracy of the proposed method can achieve high accuracies for both single and multiple bearing fault diagnosis in the noisy situations. A Brain–Computer Interface (BCI) is a medium for communication between the human brain and computers, which does not rely on other human neural tissues, but only decodes Electroencephalography (EEG) signals and converts them into commands to control external devices. Motor Imagery (MI) is an important BCI paradigm that generates a spontaneous EEG signal without external stimulation by imagining limb movements to strengthen the brain's compensatory function, and it has a promising future in the field of computer-aided diagnosis and rehabilitation technology for brain diseases. However, there are a series of technical difficulties in the research of motor imagery-based brain–computer interface (MI-BCI) systems, such as: large individual differences in subjects and poor performance of the cross-subject classification model; a low signal-to-noise ratio of EEG signals and poor classification accuracy; and the poor online performance of the MI-BCI system. To address the above problems, this paper proposed a combined virtual electrode-based EEG Source Analysis (ESA) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) method for MI-EEG signal feature extraction and classification. The outcomes reveal that the online MI-BCI system developed based on this method can improve the decoding ability of multi-task MI-EEG after training, it can learn generalized features from multiple subjects in cross-subject experiments and has some adaptability to the individual differences of new subjects, and it can decode the EEG intent online and realize the brain control function of the intelligent cart, which provides a new idea for the research of an online MI-BCI system. The traditional Transformer model primarily employs a self-attention mechanism to capture global feature relationships, potentially overlooking local relationships within sequences and thus affecting the modeling capability of local features. For Support Vector Machine (SVM), it often requires the joint use of feature selection algorithms or model optimization methods to achieve maximum classification accuracy. Addressing the issues in both models, this paper introduces a novel network framework, CTSF, specifically designed for Industrial Internet intrusion detection. CTSF effectively addresses the limitations of traditional Transformers in extracting local features while compensating for the weaknesses of SVM. The framework comprises a pre-training component and a decision-making component. The pre-training section consists of both CNN and an enhanced Transformer, designed to capture both local and global features from input data while reducing data feature dimensions. The improved Transformer simultaneously decreases certain training parameters within CTSF, making it more suitable for the Industrial Internet environment. The classification section is composed of SVM, which receives initial classification data from the pre-training phase and determines the optimal decision boundary. The proposed framework is evaluated on an imbalanced subset of the X-IIOTID dataset, which represent Industrial Internet data. Experimental results demonstrate that with SVM using both "linear" and "rbf" kernel functions, CTSF achieves an overall accuracy of 0.98875 and effectively discriminates minor classes, showcasing the superiority of this framework. The method of acoustic radiation signal detection not only enables contactless measurement but also provides comprehensive state information during equipment operation. This paper proposes an enhanced feature extraction network (EFEN) for fault diagnosis of rolling bearings based on acoustic signal feature learning. The EFEN network comprises four main components: the data preprocessing module, the information feature selection module (IFSM), the channel attention mechanism module (CAMM), and the convolutional neural network module (CNNM). Firstly, the one-dimensional acoustic signal is transformed into a two-dimensional grayscale image. Then, IFSM utilizes three different-sized convolution filters to process input image data and fuse and assign weights to feature information that can attenuate noise while highlighting effective fault information. Next, a channel attention mechanism module is introduced to assign weights to each channel. Finally, the convolutional neural network (CNN) fault diagnosis module is employed for accurate classification of rolling bearing faults. Experimental results demonstrate that the EFEN network achieves high accuracy in fault diagnosis and effectively detects rolling bearing faults based on acoustic signals. The proposed method achieves an accuracy of 98.52%, surpassing other methods in terms of performance. In comparative analysis of antinoise experiments, the average accuracy remains remarkably high at 96.62%, accompanied by a significantly reduced average iteration time of only 0.25 s. Unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA) aims to mitigate the performance drop due to the distribution shift between the training and testing datasets. UDA methods have achieved performance gains for models trained on a source domain with labeled data to a target domain with only unlabeled data. The standard feature extraction method in domain adaptation has been convolutional neural networks (CNNs). Recently, attention-based transformer models have emerged as effective alternatives for computer vision tasks. In this paper, we benchmark three attention-based architectures, specifically vision transformer (ViT), shifted window transformer (SWIN), and dual attention vision transformer (DAViT), against convolutional architectures ResNet, HRNet and attention-based ConvNext, to assess the performance of different backbones for domain generalization and adaptation. We incorporate these backbone architectures as feature extractors in the source hypothesis transfer (SHOT) framework for UDA. SHOT leverages the knowledge learned in the source domain to align the image features of unlabeled target data in the absence of source domain data, using self-supervised deep feature clustering and self-training. We analyze the generalization and adaptation performance of these models on standard UDA datasets and aerial UDA datasets. In addition, we modernize the training procedure commonly seen in UDA tasks by adding image augmentation techniques to help models generate richer features. Our results show that ConvNext and SWIN offer the best performance, indicating that the attention mechanism is very beneficial for domain generalization and adaptation with both transformer and convolutional architectures. High-resolution remote-sensing images cover more feature information, including texture, structure, shape, and other geometric details, while the relationships among target features are more complex. These factors make it more complicated for classical convolutional neural networks to obtain ideal results when performing a feature classification on remote-sensing images. To address this issue, we proposed an attention-based multiscale max-pooling dense network (DMAU-Net), which is based on U-Net for ground object classification. The network is designed with an integrated max-pooling module that incorporates dense connections in the encoder part to enhance the quality of the feature map, and thus improve the feature-extraction capability of the network. Equally, in the decoding, we introduce the Efficient Channel Attention (ECA) module, which can strengthen the effective features and suppress the irrelevant information. To validate the ground object classification performance of the multi-pooling integration network proposed in this paper, we conducted experiments on the Vaihingen and Potsdam datasets provided by the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS). We compared DMAU-Net with other mainstream semantic segmentation models. The experimental results show that the DMAU-Net proposed in this paper effectively improves the accuracy of the feature classification of high-resolution remote-sensing images. Marine oil spills can cause serious damage to marine ecosystems and biological species, and the pollution is difficult to repair in the short term. Accurate oil type identification and oil thickness quantification are of great significance for marine oil spill emergency response and damage assessment. In recent years, hyperspectral remote sensing technology has become an effective means to monitor marine oil spills. The spectral and spatial features of oil spill images at different levels are different. To accurately identify oil spill types and quantify oil film thickness, and perform better extraction of spectral and spatial features, a multilevel spatial and spectral feature extraction network is proposed in this study. First, the graph convolutional neural network and graph attentional neural network models were used to extract spectral and spatial features in non-Euclidean space, respectively, and then the designed modules based on 2D expansion convolution, depth convolution, and point convolution were applied to extract feature information in Euclidean space; after that, a multilevel feature fusion method was developed to fuse the obtained spatial and spectral features in Euclidean space in a complementary way to obtain multilevel features. Finally, the multilevel features were fused at the feature level to obtain the oil spill information. The experimental results show that compared with CGCNN, SSRN, and A2S2KResNet algorithms, the accuracy of oil type identification and oil film thickness classification of the proposed method in this paper is improved by 12.82%, 0.06%, and 0.08% and 2.23%, 0.69%, and 0.47%, respectively, which proves that the method in this paper can effectively extract oil spill information and identify different oil spill types and different oil film thicknesses.
