Since deep low‐frequency tremors are considered to be associated with large earthquakes that occur adjacently on the same subducting plate interface, it is important to investigate tremors that occurred before the establishment of modern seismograph networks such as the High Sensitivity Seismograph Network (Hi‐net). We propose a deep‐learning solution to detect evidence of tremors in scanned images of paper seismogram records from over 50 years ago. In this study, we fine‐tuned a convolutional neural network (CNN) based on the Residual Network, which was pre‐trained using images of synthetic waveforms from our previous study, using a data set comprised of images generated from real seismic data recorded digitally by Hi‐net to facilitate a supervised analysis. The fine‐tuned CNN was able to predict the presence or absence of tremors in the Hi‐net images with an accuracy of 98.64%. Gradient‐weighted Class Activation Mapping heatmaps created to visualize model predictions indicated that the CNN's ability to detect tremors is not degraded by the presence of teleseisms. Once validated using the Hi‐net images, the CNN was applied to paper seismograms recorded from 1966 to 1977 at the Kumano observatory in southwest Japan, operated by Earthquake Research Institute, The University of Tokyo. The CNN showed potential for detecting tremors in scanned images of paper seismogram records from the past, facilitating downstream tasks such as the creation of new tremor catalogs. However, further training using an augmented data set to control for variables such as inconsistent plotting pen thickness is required to develop a universally applicable model. Investigating tremors that occurred before the establishment of dense seismic arrays is important since megathrust earthquakes recur on intervals of 100–200 years, and digital records from modern seismic arrays cover only a fraction of that time. In this study, we developed a convolutional neural network based on the Residual Network (ResNet) that extracts tremors from images of waveforms recorded more than 50 years ago, when seismometers drew waveforms directly on drum‐rolled paper using a pen. The proposed ResNet, which was trained on seismogram images generated from synthetic waveforms and real data recorded digitally by modern seismic arrays, was applied to scanned images of paper seismograms recorded from 1966 to 1977 at an observatory in southwest Japan. The aim of image inpainting is to fill in damaged areas according to certain rules based on information about the adjacent positions of missing areas and the overall structure of the image, a technique that plays a key role in various tasks in computer vision. With the rapid development of deep learning, researchers have combined it with image inpainting and achieved excellent performance. To gain insight into the techniques involved, this paper summarizes the latest research advances in the field of image inpainting. Firstly, existing classical image inpainting methods are reviewed, and traditional image inpainting methods and their advantages and disadvantages are introduced. Secondly, three classical network models are outlined, and the image inpainting methods are classified into single-stage, multi-stage and a priori condition-guided approaches according to different network types and model structures. Representative algorithms among them are selected and their important technical improvement ideas are analyzed and summarized. Then, the common datasets commonly used in image inpainting tasks and the evaluation metrics used to evaluate inpainting results are introduced. The paper presents a comprehensive summary of the various algorithms in terms of network models and inpainting methods, and selects representative algorithms for quantitative and qualitative comparative analysis. The increasing availability of hydrological and physiographic spatiotemporal data has boosted machine learning's role in rapid flood mapping. Yet, data scarcity, especially high-resolution DEMs, challenges regions with limited access. This paper examines how DEM type and resolution affect flood prediction accuracy, utilizing a cutting-edge deep learning (DL) method called 1D convolutional neural network (CNN). It utilizes synthetic hydrographs as training input and water depth data obtained from LISFLOOD-FP, a 2D hydrodynamic model, as target data. This study investigates digital surface models (DSMs) and digital terrain models (DTMs) derived from a 1 m LIDAR-based DTM, with resolutions from 15 to 30 m. The methodology is applied and assessed in a established benchmark, city of Carlisle, UK. The models' performance is then evaluated and compared against an observed flood event using RMSE, Bias, and Fit indices. Leveraging the insights gained from this region, the paper discusses the applicability of the methodology to address the challenges encountered in a data-scarce flood-prone region, exemplified by Pakistan. Results indicated that utilizing a 30 m DTM outperformed a 30 m DSM in terms of flood depth prediction accuracy by about 21% during the flood peak stage, highlighting the superior performance of DTM at lower resolutions. Increasing the resolution of DTM to 15 m resulted in a minimum 50% increase in RMSE and a 20% increase in fit index across all flood stages. The findings emphasize that while a coarser resolution DEM may impact the accuracy of machine learning models, it remains a viable option for rapid flood prediction. Since plant diseases occurring during the growth process are a significant factor leading to the decline in both yield and quality, the classification and detection of plant leaf diseases, followed by timely prevention and control measures, are crucial for safeguarding plant productivity and quality. As the traditional convolutional neural network structure cannot effectively recognize similar plant leaf diseases, in order to more accurately identify the diseases on plant leaves, this paper proposes an effective plant disease image recognition method aECA-ResNet34. This method is based on ResNet34, and in the first and the last layers of this network, respectively, we add this paper's improved aECAnet with the symmetric structure. aECA-ResNet34 is compared with different plant disease classification models on the peanut dataset constructed in this paper and the open-source PlantVillage dataset. The experimental results show that the aECA-ResNet34 model proposed in this paper has higher accuracy, better performance, and better robustness. Deep Self-Attention Network (Transformer) is an encoder–decoder architectural model that excels in establishing long-distance dependencies and is first applied in natural language processing. Due to its complementary nature with the inductive bias of convolutional neural network (CNN), Transformer has been gradually applied to medical image processing, including kidney image processing. It has become a hot research topic in recent years. To further explore new ideas and directions in the field of renal image processing, this paper outlines the characteristics of the Transformer network model and summarizes the application of the Transformer-based model in renal image segmentation, classification, detection, electronic medical records, and decision-making systems, and compared with CNN-based renal image processing algorithm, analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of this technique in renal image processing. Intelligent fault diagnosis utilizing deep learning algorithms is currently a topic of great interest. When developing a new Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architecture to address machine diagnosis problem, it is common to use a deep model, with many layers, many feature maps, and large kernels. These models are capable of learning complex relationships and can potentially achieve superior performance on test data. However, not only does a large network potentially impose undue computational complexity for training and eventual deployment, it may also lead to more brittleness—where data outside of the curated dataset used in CNN training and evaluation is poorly handled. Accordingly, this paper will investigate a methodical approach for identifying a quasi-optimal CNN architecture to maximize robustness when a model is trained under one set of operating conditions, and deployed under a different set of conditions. Optuna software will be used to optimize a baseline CNN model for robustness to different rotational speeds and bearing Model #'s. To further improve the network generalization capabilities, this paper proposes the addition of white Gaussian noise to the raw vibration training data. Results indicate that the number of trainable weights and associated multiplications in the optimized model were reduced by almost 95% without jeopardizing the network classification accuracy. Microscopic image analysis technology helps solve the inadvertences of artificial traditional methods in disease, wastewater treatment, and environmental change monitoring analysis. Convolutional neural network (CNN) play an important role in microscopic image analysis. Image segmentation, in which U-Net is increasingly applied in microscopic image segmentation, is a crucial step in detection, tracking, monitoring, feature extraction, modelling, and analysis. This paper comprehensively reviews the development history of U-Net, analyses several research results of various segmentation methods since the emergence of U-Net, and conducts a comprehensive review of related papers. This paper summarised the improved methods of U-Net and then listed the existing significance of image segmentation techniques and their improvements introduced over the years. Finally, focusing on the different improvement strategies of U-Net in different papers, the related work of each application target is reviewed according to detailed technical categories to facilitate future research. Deep neural networks are extensively used in text mining and Natural Language Processing is to enable computers to understand, analyze, and generate natural language data, such as text or speech, but semantic resources, such as taxonomies and ontologies, are not fully included in deep learning. In this paper, we use Deep Convolutional Neural Network (Deep CNN) to classify research papers using the Computer Science Ontology, an ontology of research areas in the field of computer science. It takes as input the abstract and keywords of a particular research paper and returns the relevant research topic. To evaluate our ontology, we used a gold standard dataset that includes research articles. To further improve text classification results, we propose to design a Deep CNN model. We then used ontology matching to reduce the classes and get better results. Experimental results show that the proposed approach outperforms the one with the highest precision, recall, and F1-score. At present, in end-to-end network combined with deep learning in stereo matching, how to perceive ample image details within an acceptable range of computational cost, so as to improve the final matching accuracy, has become a hot research topic. In this paper, we design a cascaded disparity correction network based on DispNet, which can refine the initial disparity image by combining the process output results in the trunk network. The method proposed in this paper is named ETE–DC–CNN (end to end–disparity correction–convolutional neural network). In the trunk network, the mixed dilated convolution module is employed to extract the features of the original image, and the feature image is constructed into a 3D disparity space volume through depth-separable convolution, after which the initial disparity image can be obtained through 2D encoder–decoder module. In the correction network, the gradient information of the initial feature image is combined to reconstruct the modified matching cost body guided by the initial disparity image and then a smaller encoder–decoder module is trained and processed to make the final result at the sub-pixel level. The algorithm in this paper has been verified in SceneFlow and KITTI 2012/2015 data sets. The method proposed in this article achieves 3.46, 2.12, 1.19, and 0.6 results in the non-occluded area and 4.04, 2.55, 1.58, and 0.7 results in the global area on the Er (> 2 px), Er (> 3 px), Er (> 5 px), and Epe indicators in the KITTI 2012 test set, which are higher than those of the backbone network DispNet. Recent technological developments have enabled computers to identify and categorize facial expressions to determine a person's emotional state in an image or a video. This process, called "Facial Expression Recognition (FER)", has become one of the most popular research areas in computer vision. In recent times, deep FER systems have primarily concentrated on addressing two significant challenges: the problem of overfitting due to limited training data availability, and the presence of expression-unrelated variations, including illumination, head pose, image resolution, and identity bias. In this paper, a comprehensive survey is provided on deep FER, encompassing algorithms and datasets that offer insights into these intrinsic problems. Initially, this paper presents a detailed timeline showcasing the evolution of methods and datasets in deep facial expression recognition (FER). This timeline illustrates the progression and development of the techniques and data resources used in FER. Then, a comprehensive review of FER methods is introduced, including the basic principles of FER (components such as preprocessing, feature extraction and classification, and methods, etc.) from the pro-deep learning era (traditional methods using handcrafted features, i.e., SVM and HOG, etc.) to the deep learning era. Moreover, a brief introduction is provided related to the benchmark datasets (there are two categories: controlled environments (lab) and uncontrolled environments (in the wild)) used to evaluate different FER methods and a comparison of different FER models. Existing deep neural networks and related training strategies designed for FER, based on static images and dynamic image sequences, are discussed. With a large proportion of wind farms connected to the power grid, it brings more pressure on the stable operation of power systems in shorter time scales. Efficient and accurate scheduling, operation control and decision making require high time resolution power forecasting algorithms with higher accuracy and real-time performance. In this paper, we innovatively propose a high temporal resolution wind power forecasting method based on a light convolutional architecture—DC_LCNN. The method starts from the source data and novelly designs the dual-channel data input mode to provide different combinations of feature data for the model, thus improving the upper limit of the learning ability of the whole model. The dual-channel convolutional neural network (CNN) structure extracts different spatial and temporal constraints of the input features. The light global maximum pooling method replaces the flat operation combined with the fully connected (FC) forecasting method in the traditional CNN, extracts the most significant features of the global method, and directly performs data downscaling at the same time, which significantly improves the forecasting accuracy and efficiency of the model. In this paper, the experiments are carried out on the 1 s resolution data of the actual wind field, and the single-step forecasting task with 1 s ahead of time and the multi-step forecasting task with 1~10 s ahead of time are executed, respectively. Comparing the experimental results with the classical deep learning models in the current field, the proposed model shows absolute accuracy advantages on both forecasting tasks. This also shows that the light architecture design based on simple deep learning models is also a good solution in performing high time resolution wind power forecasting tasks. Objectives: The quality of network structure is the key to obtain excellent classification performance. Most of existing deep models are designed by the trial-and-error method. When the same model processes different hyperspectral images (HSIs), different network hyperparameters need to be set artificially to adapt to the data characteristics of different images, greatly increasing the difficulty of network design. Aiming at the problem of deep learning model design in hyperspectral image classification, this paper proposes an automatic network structure search method for HSI classification. Methods: In the proposed method, the differentiable structure search technology is first used to search the network structure on the source HSI data sets, then the deep network model is constructed by stacking cells, and finally the classification performance is evaluated on the target HSIs. It should be pointed out that, the proposed method only conducts one search on the source HSI data sets, and the obtained deep model can be applied to other target HSI classification tasks, which can effectively improve the utilization rate of the model. To improve the generalization ability and classification accuracy of the model, multi-source and multi-resolution HSIs are employed to construct the precollected data set, and the partial channel connection operation is introduced to further improve the search efficiency. Results: Three HSIs inculding Houston, Chikusei and Pavia Center are selected as source data. Four HSIs including University of Pavia, Indian Pines, Salinas and Houston 2018 are selected as the target HSIs. The source data is used to determine the network model and the target HSIs are used to evaluate the classification performance. Experimental results show that the proposed method can automatically search out a universal deep network model suitable for HSI classification task, and this model can achieve better classification performance than the conventional deep learning models. The overall classification accuracies of University of Pavia, Indian Pines, Salinas and Houston 2018 are 98.15%, 98.74%, 97.30% and 74.47%, respectively. Conclusions: Compared with other deep models, the model in this paper is automatically determined by differentiable architecture search algorithm according to the data characteristics of HSIs, effectively improving the classification accuracy of target HSIs while avoiding complex network design. Since the objects in remote sensing images have the characteristics of arbitrary direction, dense distribution and large scale differences, object detection in remote sensing images has become a challenging problem. Aiming at this problem, this paper systematically reviewed the work related to rotating object detection in deep learning remote sensing images in recent three years. Firstly, this paper introduced the representation method and characteristics of rotated bounding box. Then, it analyzed the existing methods of rotating object detection in remote sensing images from four aspects: the feature extraction network, the generation of rotating anchor and candidate bounding box, the label allocation and sampling strategy, and the loss function. Next, it introduced the commonly used remote sensing image datasets for rotated object detection, and compared the performance of different algorithms. To recommend useful information to users more efficiently, this paper proposes a dual-path recommendation algorithm which combines multilayer Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and attention-enhanced long short-term memory network (Attention-LSTM). Firstly, the matrix factorisation technique is used for learning the long-term preferences of users. Secondly, a dual-path network based on CNN and LSTM is constructed to perform feature extraction on the rating matrix. The dual-path network can learn the long-term preferences of users while capturing their dynamic preferences in changing preferences. Recently, computer vision and artificial intelligence are being used as enabling technologies for plant phenotyping studies, since they allow the analysis of large amounts of data gathered by the sensors. Plant phenotyping studies can be devoted to the evaluation of complex plant traits either on the aerial part of the plant as well as on the underground part, to extract meaningful information about the growth, development, tolerance, or resistance of the plant itself. All plant traits should be evaluated automatically and quantitatively measured in a non-destructive way. This paper describes a novel approach for identifying plant roots from images of the root system architecture using a convolutional neural network (CNN) that operates on small image patches calculating the probability that the center point of the patch is a root pixel. The underlying idea is that the CNN model should embed as much information as possible about the variability of the patches that can show chaotic and heterogeneous backgrounds. Thunderstorm gusts are a common form of severe convective weather in the warm season in North China, and it is of great importance to correctly forecast them. At present, the forecasting of thunderstorm gusts is mainly based on traditional subjective methods, which fails to achieve high-resolution and high-frequency gridded forecasts based on multiple observation sources. In this paper, we propose a deep learning method called Thunderstorm Gusts TransU-net (TG-TransUnet) to forecast thunderstorm gusts in North China based on multi-source gridded product data from the Institute of Urban Meteorology (IUM) with a lead time of 1 to 6 h. To determine the specific range of thunderstorm gusts, we combine three meteorological variables: radar reflectivity factor, lightning location, and 1-h maximum instantaneous wind speed from automatic weather stations (AWSs), and obtain a reasonable ground truth of thunderstorm gusts. Then, we transform the forecasting problem into an image-to-image problem in deep learning under the TG-TransUnet architecture, which is based on convolutional neural networks and a transformer. The analysis and forecast data of the enriched multi-source gridded comprehensive forecasting system for the period 2021–23 are then used as training, validation, and testing datasets. Finally, the performance of TG-TransUnet is compared with other methods. The results show that TG-TransUnet has the best prediction results at 1–6 h. This research paper presents a comprehensive investigation into the utilization of color image processing technologies and deep learning algorithms in the development of a robot vision system specifically designed for 8-ball billiards. The sport of billiards, with its various games and ball arrangements, presents unique challenges for robotic vision systems. The proposed methodology addresses these challenges through two main components: object detection and ball pattern recognition. Initially, a robust algorithm is employed to detect the billiard balls using color space transformation and thresholding techniques. This is followed by determining the position of the billiard table through strategic cropping and isolation of the primary table area. The crucial phase involves the intricate task of recognizing ball patterns to differentiate between solid and striped balls. To achieve this, a modified convolutional neural network is utilized, leveraging the Xception network optimized by an innovative algorithm known as the Improved Chaos African Vulture Optimization (ICAVO) algorithm. The ICAVO algorithm enhances the Xception network's performance by efficiently exploring the solution space and avoiding local optima. The results of this study demonstrate a significant enhancement in recognition accuracy, with the Xception/ICAVO model achieving remarkable recognition rates for both solid and striped balls. This paves the way for the development of more sophisticated and efficient billiards robots. The implications of this research extend beyond 8-ball billiards, highlighting the potential for advanced robotic vision systems in various applications. In this paper, a method based on transfer learning is proposed to recover the three-dimensional shape of cultural relics faces from a single old photo. It can simultaneously reconstruct the three-dimensional facial structure and align the texture of the cultural relics with fewer training samples. The UV position map is used to represent the three-dimensional shape in space and act as the output of the network. A convolutional neural network is used to reconstruct the UV position map from a single 2D image. In the training process, the human face data is used for pre-training, and then a small amount of artifact data is used for fine-tuning. A deep learning model with strong generalization ability is trained with fewer artifact data, and a three-dimensional model of the cultural relic face can be reconstructed from a single old photograph. The methods can train more complex deep networks without a large amount of cultural relic data, and no over-fitting phenomenon occurs, which effectively solves the problem of fewer cultural relic samples. The method is verified by restoring a Chinese Terracotta Warrior with facial cracks and a Buddha with a broken nose. Other applications can be used in the fields such as texture recovery, facial feature extraction, and three-dimensional model estimation of the damaged cultural relics or sculptures in the photos. Over the past decades, the software industry has expanded to include all industries. Since stakeholders tend to use it to get their work done, software houses seek to estimate the cost of the software, which includes calculating the effort, time, and resources required. Although many researchers have worked to estimate it, the prediction accuracy results are still inaccurate and unstable. Estimating it requires a lot of effort. Therefore, there is an urgent need for modern techniques that contribute to cost estimation. This paper seeks to present a model based on deep learning and machine learning techniques by combining convolutional neural networks (CNN) and the particle swarm algorithm (PSO) in the context of time series forecasting, which enables feature extraction and automatic tuning of hyperparameters, which reduces the manual effort of selecting parameters and contributes to fine-tuning. The use of PSO also enhances the robustness and generalization ability of the CNN model and its iterative nature allows for efficient discovery of hyperparameter similarity. The model was trained and tested on 13 different benchmark datasets and evaluated through six metrics: mean absolute error (MAE), mean square error (MSE), mean magnitude relative error (MMRE), root mean square error (RMSE), median magnitude relative error (MdMRE), and prediction accuracy (PRED). Comparative results reveal that the performance of the proposed model is better than other methods for all datasets and evaluation criteria. The formation dip angle is an important characteristic parameter that reflects underground structures, and it is widely used in seismic exploration and geological interpretation. However, the routine dip angle calculation method suffers from the problems of artifact interference and insufficient accuracy, which restricts the development of fine exploration technology. More accurately obtaining the formation dip angle has become a general concern. To solve these problems, this paper proposes a method for calculating the formation dip angle using deep learning. The dip angle calculation is considered a regression problem. By establishing a database of synthetic seismic data and dip data tags, data-driven fitting of nonlinear functional relationships between the seismic data and dip angles are achieved, and intelligent dip calculations are realized. The method is verified using the synthetic sedimentary model and actual data and is compared with the mainstream dip angle calculation method in the industry. Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium. It primarily impacts the lungs but can also endanger other organs, such as the renal system, spine, and brain. When an infected individual sneezes, coughs, or speaks, the virus can spread through the air, which contributes to its high contagiousness. The goal is to enhance detection recognition with an X-ray image dataset. This paper proposed a novel approach, named the Tuberculosis Segmentation-Guided Diagnosis Model (TSSG-CNN) for Detecting Tuberculosis, using a combined semantic segmentation and adaptive convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture. The proposed approach is distinguished from most of the previously proposed approaches in that it uses the combination of a deep learning segmentation model with a follow-up classification model based on CNN layers to segment chest X-ray images more precisely as well as to improve the diagnosis of TB. It contrasts with other approaches like ILCM, which is optimized for sequential learning, and explainable AI approaches, which focus on explanations. Moreover, our model is beneficial for the simplified procedure of feature optimization from the perspectives of approach using the Mayfly Algorithm (MA). Other models, including simple CNN, Batch Normalized CNN (BN-CNN), and Dense CNN (DCNN), are also evaluated on this dataset to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. The performance of the TSSG-CNN model outperformed all the models with an impressive accuracy of 98.75% and an F1 score of 98.70%. With the massive amount of data available on the Internet, many users face problems when they need access to the information and goods they need. Adapting information to user needs has become a complex and time-consuming process. Recommender systems are powerful tools for guiding users in electronic settings to information, services, and goods of interest. With the ability to identify users and predict their preferences, recommender systems can extract information likely to be of interest to users from vast amounts of data and save time and energy by providing them with relevant recommendations. Therefore, in this paper, a framework for a recommender system is proposed, which consists of four main phases. In the first phase, the preprocessing operation is performed. The purpose of this phase is to create an ontology model for products based on the convolutional neural network method. Data collection operations are carried out in the second phase. The purpose of this phase is to receive and store user information based on behavior and different criteria. The third phase is related to creating an ontology. The purpose of this phase is to create an ontology model for user behavior using OWL libraries. Finally, in the last phase, finding similarities and presented a proposal. The purpose of this phase is the necessary calculations of the proposed framework in the similarity finding section using ontology models. Simulation results show that the proposed framework measures MAE (more than 10 and 15%), RMSE (more than 12 and 16%), precision (less than 10 and 13%), recall (more than 25 and 28%), F1-score (higher than 25 and 30%) and Score of User (higher than 15 and 17%) outperform two related approaches, namely CF and CF+ Ontology, respectively. In the bridge structure, the main bearing element is the spans, which are directly subject to random and continuous loads, environmental influences, ageing, etc. These factors are easy to lead to material deterioration. Therefore, this study proposes a novel approach to investigate the mechanical properties of the material. The span of the bridge is the selected structure for investigation. This study focuses on the general evaluation of mechanical factors consistent with reality, so the following main factors are to be carried out. First, the viscoelastic model of material will be applied to set up and solve the governing differential equation of the beams with material characteristics involving the elastic modulus (E) and the viscous coefficient (C). The viscoelastic model is different from the traditional elastic model due to its non-linearity, reflecting the actual state of the structure. Second, the random vibration signal-based Loss Factor function (LF) calculation using the Power Spectral Density (PSD) to detect changes in structures. LF is a feature representing changes in material properties, including elasticity and viscosity, and is suitable for many types of bridge structures. Also, the paper uses Cubic Interpolation (CI) to generate a surface representing the LF distribution. This interpolation results in surfaces with respect to the LF values distributed by frequencies and spectral amplitudes. Finally, the LF distribution-based material investigation using Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) is proposed with high performance and accuracy. Timely and effective fault diagnosis is crucial to guarantee the reliability and durability of proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). Segmented cell technology has been proven to be a powerful tool for exploring the internal characteristics of fuel cells, yet it is seldom applied for fault diagnosis. This paper proposes a data-driven fault diagnosis method that combines segmented cell and deep learning technology for PEMFC water management fault diagnosis. The dynamic characteristics of the current distribution of the fuel cell under different levels of faults are explored with segmented cell technology. A dual-input convolutional neural network is applied to combine current distribution data and sensor data for a more comprehensive system status for fault diagnosis. The results show that the model can efficiently identify flooding and drying faults with more than 98.5% accuracy, faster and more accurately than other algorithms. The large number of near-Earth asteroids (NEAs) has greatly impacted human space activities and Earth security. However, detecting NEAs in astronomical images with complex, varying backgrounds is still extremely challenging. In this paper, we propose a deep segmentation assisted asteroid tracking algorithm, termed DSAT, to construct a possible pipeline for faint NEA tracking in astronomical images. First, the single-frame object detection problem is converted to a segmentation problem, enabling robust extraction of faint potential moving objects. Then, a multiframe motion prior-based moving object tracking algorithm is proposed to find real NEAs. We further propose a distance tolerance criterion to help DSAT achieve effective tracking in practical situations when detection has partially failed. Finally, the pipeline is tested with both simulated and real astronomical images at different SNRs and in crowded fields. This paper proposes two efficient approximation methods to solve high-dimensional fully nonlinear partial differential equations (NPDEs) and second-order backward stochastic differential equations (2BSDEs), where such high-dimensional fully NPDEs are extremely difficult to solve because the computational cost of standard approximation methods grows exponentially with the number of dimensions. Therefore, we consider the following methods to overcome this difficulty. For the merged fully NPDEs and 2BSDEs system, combined with the time forward discretization and ReLU function, we use multiscale deep learning fusion and convolutional neural network (CNN) techniques to obtain two numerical approximation schemes, respectively. Finally, three practical high-dimensional test problems involving Allen-Cahn, Black-Scholes-Barenblatt, and Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations are given so that the first proposed method exhibits higher efficiency and accuracy than the existing method, while the second proposed method can extend the dimensionality of the completely NPDEs-2BSDEs system over 400 dimensions, from which the numerical results highlight the effectiveness of proposed methods. Assessing the strength of complex networks is crucial for evaluating their functionality and monitoring system security. Two primary perspectives for measuring network robustness are connectivity and controllability, which quantify how well a network maintains connectivity and controllability after experiencing complete attacks. However, conventional robustness calculation methods that use simulation attacks can be impractical for large-scale networks. Recent research has explored the use of deep learning methods for network robustness prediction, including PCR (short for predictor of controllability robustness), which uses a VGG (short for visual geometry group)-based convolutional neural network (CNN) and a linear filter. However, PCR has limitations, including inaccurate edge importance differentiation and fluctuating output curves. This paper presents ATTRP, an attention-based robustness predictor, which addresses these limitations. ATTRP uses a novel convolutional neural network with channel and spatial attention mechanisms to improve prediction accuracy and a robustness filter based on Savitzky–Golay smoothing to rectify the robustness curve. Experimental studies demonstrate that ATTRP outperforms other predictors, with much lower errors, while its computational speed is far superior to that of traditional attacking simulation. Development of a reliable and intelligent traffic monitoring system is highly desired to improve the transportation safety and establish future transportation plans due to the fast growth of vehicle population. Vehicle classification is one of the most critical subsystems where existing ones suffer from privacy concerns, requirements of complicated systems, and high maintenance cost. This paper reports a novel vehicle classification method by utilizing a triboelectric sensor to accurately identify vehicles. Novelty of this method originates from using triboelectric sensor and machine learning method with important advantages over current alternatives by providing an easy installation, simple operation, noninvasive measurement, cost-effective manufacturing, and highly accurate classification. To make a classification, vehicle toys' signals were acquired from triboelectric sensor and then applied to a deep learning algorithm. The 1932 sensor output data were grouped into a set of seven vehicle toys with different wheelbases, and number of tires passing on are used to train and optimize 1D-CNN model. Background: Glaucoma, the second leading cause of global blindness, demands timely detection due to its asymptomatic progression. This paper introduces an advanced computerized system, integrates Machine Learning (ML), convolutional neural networks (CNNs), and image processing for accurate glaucoma detection using medical imaging data, surpassing prior research efforts. Method: Developing a hybrid glaucoma detection framework using CNNs (ResNet50, VGG-16) and Random Forest. Models analyze pre-processed retinal images independently, and post-processing rules combine predictions for an overall glaucoma impact assessment. Result: The hybrid framework achieves a significant 95.41% accuracy, with precision and recall at 99.37% and 88.37%, respectively. The F1 score, balancing precision and recall, reaches a commendable 93.52%. These results highlight the robustness and effectiveness of the hybrid framework in accurate glaucoma diagnosis. Conclusion: In summary, our research presents an innovative hybrid framework combining CNNs and traditional ML models for glaucoma detection. In recent years, although significant progress has been made in infrared and visible image fusion, existing methods typically assume that the source images have been rigorously registered or aligned prior to image fusion. However, the difference in modalities of infrared and visible images poses a great challenge to achieve strict alignment automatically, affecting the quality of the subsequent fusion procedure. To address this problem, this paper proposes a deep learning framework for misaligned infrared and visible image fusion, aiming to free the fusion algorithm from strict registration. Technically, we design a convolutional neural network (CNN)-Transformer Hierarchical Interactive Embedding (CTHIE) module, which can combine the respective advantages of CNN and Transformer, to extract features from the source images. In addition, by characterizing the correlation between the features extracted from misaligned source images, a Dynamic Re-aggregation Feature Representation (DRFR) module is devised to align the features with a self-attention-based feature re-aggregation scheme. Finally, to effectively utilize the features at different levels of the network, a Fully Perceptual Forward Fusion (FPFF) module via interactive transmission of multi-modal features is introduced for feature fusion to reconstruct the fused image. Pre-trained convolutional neural network (CNN) structures are considered as one of the emerging education management tools that can help improve the quality of education by allowing decision makers to manipulate important indicators. These indicators, which are categorized as student and institution specific factors, may influence student progress, retention or dropout rates. In this paper, we develop a deep learning model of predicting students' satisfactions and their expected outcomes and associated early failures. The model can also predict dropout rates and identify the main baseline risk factors that influence such rates. The academic data of 12,000 students enrolled from 2018 in the Arab Open University student information system are used as CNNs training dataset to ensure that all institution levels are represented. Then, the trained network provides a probabilistic model that indicates, for each student, the probability of dropout. Based on the prediction model, the study presents an early warning system framework to generate alerts and recommendations to allow early and effective institutional intervention. Experiments are achieved by using the proposed dataset and the performance of our approach is considerably better compared to the competitive models in terms of training/validation accuracy and mean square errors. The emergence of data-driven analytics and intelligent monitoring systems is radically transforming the world of competitive sports. However, robust real-time activity recognition remains elusive for rapid-paced sports like table tennis due to the complexity of strokes and quick maneuvering. This paper tries to overcome this challenge through an innovative cloud-supported system integrating the Internet of Things (IoT), machine learning, and wearable sensors for automated analysis of table tennis gameplay. We strategically set up a multi-camera IoT system around a table tennis court to compile a rich labeled image dataset encapsulating over 15,000 frames. To improve model generalization, the images captured various playing styles, lighting conditions, and camera angles. We developed tailored SVM and CNN architectures optimized for table tennis activity classification. The models were trained on GPU-accelerated platforms using the curated dataset. After hyperparameter tuning and cross-validation, the CNN model achieved 96.2% accuracy, a precision value of 96.3%, a recall value of 95.2%, and an F1-score of 96.3% in classifying standard strokes and serves. Additionally, the models exhibited impressive processing speeds of 22–34 fps, enabling real-time utilization. Our proposed model outperformed the latest models in this field with higher accuracy, recall values, F1-score, and precision. While expanding the dataset diversity and testing variations of deep network architectures could further enhance performance, this paper demonstrates a crucial leap toward helping real-time analytics in table tennis using an AI-powered computer vision approach. Traditional sentiment analysis focuses on text-level sentiment mining, transforming sentiment mining into classification or regression problems, resulting in a sentiment analysis low accuracy rate. Sentiment analysis refers to the use of natural language processing, text analysis, and computational linguistics to systematically identify, extract, quantify, and study sentimental states. Therefore, more scholars have begun to focus on speech recognition and facial expression recognition research, and extracting and analysing people's sentiment tendencies can improve sentiment recognition accuracy. Traditional single-modal sentiment analysis can no longer meet people's needs. Therefore, this paper proposes a multimodal sentiment analysis method based on the multimodal sentiment analysis method that can obtain more sentimental information sources and help people make better decisions. The experimental results in this paper show that the highest recognition rates of CNN-SVM, RNN-SVM, and CRNN-SVM were 76.8%, 71.2%, and 93.5%, respectively. It can be seen that CRNN-SVM has the highest sentiment tendency recognition rate in deep learning, so it is suitable to apply CRNN-SVM to sentiment tendency analysis system design in this paper. The average accuracy rate of the system designed in this paper was 91%, and the stability was also very strong, which shows that the system designed in this paper is meaningful. Skin cancer is a significant health risk that requires early detection for effective treatment. This paper discusses two automated techniques, Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), which make use of deep learning techniques for skin cancer detection. Through evaluation of research on skin cancer detection using ANN and CNN, the effectiveness and performance of these techniques in early and efficient diagnosis of skin cancer were established. Lung nodules are abnormal growths and lesions may exist. Both lungs may have nodules. Most lung nodules are harmless (not cancerous/malignant). Pulmonary nodules are rare in lung cancer. X-rays and CT scans identify the lung nodules. Doctors may term the growth a lung spot, coin lesion, or shadow. It is necessary to obtain properly computed tomography (CT) scans of the lungs to get an accurate diagnosis and a good estimate of the severity of lung cancer. This study aims to design and evaluate a deep learning (DL) algorithm for identifying pulmonary nodules (PNs) using the LUNA-16 dataset and examine the prevalence of PNs using DB-Net. The paper states that a new, resource-efficient deep learning architecture is called for, and it has been given the name of DB-NET. When a physician orders a CT scan, they need to employ an accurate and efficient lung nodule segmentation method because they need to detect lung cancer at an early stage. However, segmentation of lung nodules is a difficult task because of the nodules' characteristics on the CT image as well as the nodules' concealed shape, visual quality, and context. The DB-NET model architecture is presented as a resource-efficient deep learning solution for handling the challenge at hand in this paper. Photovoltaic (PV) fault detection is crucial because undetected PV faults can lead to significant energy losses, with some cases experiencing losses of up to 10%. The efficiency of PV systems depends upon the reliable detection and diagnosis of faults. The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques has been a growing trend in addressing these issues. The goal of this systematic review is to offer a comprehensive overview of the recent advancements in AI-based methodologies for PV fault detection, consolidating the key findings from 31 research papers. An initial pool of 142 papers were identified, from which 31 were selected for in-depth review following the PRISMA guidelines. The title, objective, methods, and findings of each paper were analyzed, with a focus on machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) approaches. ML and DL are particularly suitable for PV fault detection because of their capacity to process and analyze large amounts of data to identify complex patterns and anomalies. This study identified several AI techniques used for fault detection in PV systems, ranging from classical ML methods like k-nearest neighbor (KNN) and random forest to more advanced deep learning models such as Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). Quantum circuits and infrared imagery were also explored as potential solutions. The analysis found that DL models, in general, outperformed traditional ML models in accuracy and efficiency. This paper presents an approach based on deep learning for accurate Electrocardiogram signal classification. The electrocardiogram is a significant signal in the realm of medical affairs, which gives vital information about the cardiovascular status of patients to heart specialists. Manually meticulous analysis of signals needs high and specific skills, and it is a time-consuming job too. The existence of noise, the inflexibility of signals, and the irregularity of heartbeats keep heart specialists in trouble. Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the most important factor of fatality globally, which annually caused the deaths of 17.9 million people. Totally 31% of all death in the world are related to CVDs, which the age of 1/3 of patients that died because of CVDs is below 70 Because of the high percentage of mortality in cardiovascular patients, accurate diagnosis of this disease is an important matter. We present an approach to the analysis of electrocardiogram signals based on the convolutional neural network, discrete wavelet transformation with db2 mother wavelet, and synthetic minority over-sampling technique (SMOTE) on the MIT-BIH dataset according to the association for the advancement of medical instrumentation (AAMI) standards to increase the accuracy in electrocardiogram signal classifications. The evaluation results show this approach with 50 epoch training that the time of each epoch is 39 s, achieved 99.71% accuracy for category F, 98.69% accuracy for category N, 99.45% accuracy for category S, 99.33% accuracy for category V and 99.82% accuracy for category Q. One of the predominant health issues affecting Saudi Arabia and leading to many complications is Type 2 diabetes (T2D). Early detection and significant preventative measures lead to curbing and controlling the health issue. There are fewer datasets in the literature for the detection of T2D in the Saudi population. Past studies using Saudi data have favoured machine learning algorithms to classify T2D. Although the application of this data in machine learning is evident, no studies exist in the literature that compare this data, especially those related to deep learning algorithms. This study's objective is to use specific Saudi data to develop multiple deep learning models that could be used to detect T2D. The research uses a Deep Neural Network (DNN), an Autoencoder (AE), and a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to create predictive models and compare their performance with a traditional machine learning classifier used on the same dataset that outperformed other machine learning algorithms such as a Decision Forest (DF). Various metrics were used to evaluate the effectiveness of the models, such as accuracy, precision, recall, F1 score and area under the ROC curve (AUC) where the ROC acts as a receiver operating characteristic curve. There are two cases in this paper: (i) uses all features of the dataset and (ii) uses six of the ten features, such as DF. In case (i), the results were shown that AE outperformed other models with the highest accuracy for imbalanced and balanced data 81.12% and 79.16%, respectively. The results for case (ii) showed that AE scored the highest 81.01% accuracy with imbalanced data compared to DF and DF achieved the highest accuracy of 82.1% with balanced data. As a result, both cases explored in this study revealed that AE has a constant superior performance if imbalanced data is used. In contrast, DF demonstrated the highest accuracy when a balanced dataset was used with a feature set reduction. They help to identify the undiagnosed T2D, and they are essential for professionals in Saudi Arabia in the health sector to promote health connections, identify risks and contain or improve their diabetes management. The segmentation of neuronal morphology in electron microscopy images is crucial for the analysis and understanding of neuronal function. However, most of the existing segmentation methods are not suitable for challenging datasets where the neuronal structure is contaminated by noise or has interrupted parts. In this paper, we propose a segmentation method based on deep learning to determine the location information of neurons and reduce the influence of image noise in the data. Specifically, we adapt our neuron dataset based on UNet by using convolution with BN fusion and multi-input feature fusion. The method is named REDAFNet. The model simplifies the model structure and enhances the generalization ability by fusing the convolution layer and BN layer. The noise interference in the data was reduced by multi-input feature fusion, and the ability to understand and express the data was enhanced. The method takes a neuron image as input and its pixel segmentation map as output. Experimental results show that the segmentation accuracy of the proposed method is 91.96%, 93.86% and 80.25% on the ISBI2012 dataset, U-RISC retinal neuron dataset and N2DH-GOWT1 stem cell dataset, respectively. With the development of artificial intelligence, deep-learning-based log anomaly detection proves to be an important research topic. In this paper, we propose LogCSS, a novel log anomaly detection framework based on the Context-Semantics-Statistics Convolutional Neural Network (CSSCNN). It is the first model that uses BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representation from Transformers) and CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) to extract the semantic, temporal, and correlational features of the logs. We combine the features with the statistic information of log templates for the classification model to improve the accuracy. We also propose a technique, DOOT (Deals with the Out-Of-Templates), for online template matching. The experimental research shows that our framework improves the average F1 score of the six best algorithms in the industry by more than 5% on the open-source dataset HDFS, and improves the average F1 score of the six best algorithms in the industry by more than 8% on the BGL dataset, LogCSS also performs better than other similar methods on our own constructed dataset. However, many existing military object detection models focus on exploring deeper and more complex architectures, which results in models with a large number of parameters. This makes them unsuitable for inference on mobile or resource-constrained combat equipment, such as combat helmets and reconnaissance Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). To tackle this problem, this paper proposes a lightweight detection framework. A CSP-GhostnetV2 module is proposed in our method to make the feature extraction network more lightweight while extracting more effective information. Furthermore, to fuse multiscale information in low-computational scenarios, GSConv and the proposed CSP-RepGhost are used to form a lightweight feature aggregation network. Sea surface temperature (SST) is a key parameter in ocean hydrology. Currently, existing SST prediction methods fail to fully utilize the potential spatial correlation between variables. To address this challenge, we propose a spatiotenporal UNet (ST-UNet) model based on the UNet model. In particular, in the encoding phase of ST-UNet, we use parallel convolution with different kernel sizes to efficiently extract spatial features, and use ConvLSTM to capture temporal features based on the utilization of spatial features. Atrous Spatial Pyramid Pooling (ASPP) module is placed at the bottleneck of the network to further incorporate the multi-scale features, allowing the spatial features to be fully utilized. The final prediction is then generated in the decoding stage using parallel convolution with different kernel sizes similar to the encoding stage. We conducted a series of experiments on the Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea SST data set, as well as the South China Sea SST data set, using SST data from the past 35 days to predict SST data for 1, 3, and 7 days in the future. The model was trained using data spanning from 2010 to 2021, with data from 2022 being utilized to assess the model's predictive performance. The experimental results show that the model proposed in this research paper achieves excellent results at different prediction scales in both sea areas, and the model consistently outperforms other methods. Specifically, in the Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea sea areas, when the prediction scales are 1, 3, and 7 days, the MAE of ST-UNet outperforms the best results of the other three compared models by 17%, 12%, and 2%, and the MSE by 16%, 18%, and 9%, respectively. In the South China Sea, when the prediction ranges are 1, 3, and 7 days, the MAE of ST-UNet is 27%, 18%, and 3% higher than the best of the other three compared models, and the MSE is 46%, 39%, and 16% higher, respectively. Our results highlight the effectiveness of the ST-UNet model in capturing spatial correlations and accurately predicting SST. The proposed model is expected to improve marine hydrographic studies. Ship detection aims to automatically identify whether there are ships in the images, precisely classifies and localizes them. Regardless of whether utilizing early manually designed methods or deep learning technology, ship detection is dedicated to exploring the inherent characteristics of ships to enhance recall. Nowadays, high-precision ship detection plays a crucial role in civilian and military applications. In order to provide a comprehensive review of ship detection in optical remote-sensing images (SDORSIs), this paper summarizes the challenges as a guide. These challenges include complex marine environments, insufficient discriminative features, large scale variations, dense and rotated distributions, large aspect ratios, and imbalances between positive and negative samples. We meticulously review the improvement methods and conduct a detailed analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of these methods. We compile ship information from common optical remote sensing image datasets and compare algorithm performance. Simultaneously, we compare and analyze the feature extraction capabilities of backbones based on CNNs and Transformer, seeking new directions for the development in SDORSIs. Histopathological image analysis (HIA) plays an essential role in detecting cancer cell development, but it is time-consuming, prone to inaccuracy, and dependent on pathologist competence. This paper proposes an automated HIA that uses deep learning to improve accuracy and efficiency in liver cancer cell growth. The model uses whole slide image (WSI) input, open computer vision (OpenCV) libraries for image preprocessing, ResNet50 for patch-level feature extraction, and multiple instances learning for imagelevel classification. Obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) is a common and high-risk sleep-related breathing disorder. Snoring detection is a simple and non-invasive method. In many studies, the feature maps are obtained by applying a short-time Fourier transform (STFT) and feeding the model with single-channel input tensors. However, this approach may limit the potential of convolutional networks to learn diverse representations of snore signals. This paper proposes a snoring sound detection algorithm using a multi-channel spectrogram and convolutional neural network (CNN). The sleep recordings from 30 subjects at the hospital were collected, and four different feature maps were extracted from them as model input, including spectrogram, Mel-spectrogram, continuous wavelet transform (CWT), and multi-channel spectrogram composed of the three single-channel maps. Three methods of data set partitioning are used to evaluate the performance of feature maps. The proposed feature maps were compared through the training set and test set of independent subjects by using a CNN model. The results show that the accuracy of the multi-channel spectrogram reaches 94.18%, surpassing that of the Mel-spectrogram that exhibits the best performance among the single-channel spectrograms. This study optimizes the system in the feature extraction stage to adapt to the superior feature learning capability of the deep learning model, providing a more effective feature map for snoring detection. The facet joint injection is the most common procedure used to release lower back pain. In this paper, we proposed a deep learning method for detecting and segmenting facet joints in ultrasound images based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and enhanced data annotation. In the enhanced data annotation, a facet joint was considered as the first target and the ventral complex as the second target to improve the capability of CNNs in recognizing the facet joint. A total of 300 cases of patients undergoing pain treatment were included. The ultrasound images were captured and labeled by two professional anesthesiologists, and then augmented to train a deep learning model based on the Mask Region-based CNN (Mask R-CNN). The performance of the deep learning model was evaluated using the average precision (AP) on the testing sets. The data augmentation and data annotation methods were found to improve the AP. The AP50 for facet joint detection and segmentation was 90.4% and 85.0%, respectively, demonstrating the satisfying performance of the deep learning model. We presented a deep learning method for facet joint detection and segmentation in ultrasound images based on enhanced data annotation and the Mask R-CNN. Social networks are widely used platforms for sharing various information and content, including text, images, and videos.The main challenge in social networking today is the verification of data credibility and the identification of genuine social media profiles. Cybercriminals take advantage of this by utilizing fake profiles to disseminate false information. However, current research mainly concentrates on spam filtering and analyzing malicious behavior separately, disregarding the interrelated nature of these issues. We propose a more desirable global, hybrid solution that encompasses both malicious profile detection and spam detection to mitigate the spread of spam effectively. This paper offers a deep learning-based method for detecting malicious profiles and spam tweets. For the profiles to interact with them as legitimate profiles, we first provide the detection of fake profiles using an automated honeypot. Next, we detect those who make interactions as malicious profiles, and finally, we collect their shared content to find spam tweets using a convolution neural network algorithm. We suggest using collaborative filtering and content filtering algorithms from recommender systems to define accounts similar to harmful profiles and spam similar to spam material picked up by convolution neural networks. Image sharpening detection, as a crucial branch of image forensics research, has attained a satisfactory level of performance with the assistance of deep learning. However, due to the nature of convolutional neural network (CNN) models, adversarial examples synthesized by generative adversarial networks (GANs) can easily attack existing forensics models. Therefore, deep learning-based forensics faces new challenges. In this paper, a novel architecture inspired by ConvNext is proposed to detect synthesized adversarial USM sharpening images. Through practical demonstration, our proposed technique achieves satisfying performance in recognizing adversarial samples that outperform previous sharpened image forensic systems. Despite notable advancements achieved on Hyperspectral (HS) pansharpening tasks through deep learning techniques, previous methods are inherently constrained by convolution or self-attention intrinsic defects, leading to limited performance. In this paper, we proposed an Attention-Interactive Dual-Branch Convolutional Neural Network (AIDB-Net) for HS pansharpening. Our model purely consists of convolutional layers and simultaneously inherits the strengths of both convolution and self-attention, especially the modeling of short- and long-range dependencies. Specially, we first extract, tokenize, and align the hyperspectral image (HSI) and panchromatic image (PAN) by Overlapping Patch Embedding Blocks. Then, we specialize a novel Spectral-Spatial Interactive Attention which is able to globally interact and fuse the cross-modality features. The resultant token-global similarity scores can guide the refinement and renewal of the textural details and spectral characteristics within HSI features. By deeply combined these two paradigms, our AIDB-Net significantly improve the pansharpening performance. Moreover, with the acceleration by the convolution inductive bias, our interactive attention can be trained without large scale dataset and achieves competitive time cost with its counterparts. Compared with the state-of-the-art methods, our AIDB-Net makes 5.2%, 3.1%, and 2.2% improvement on PSNR metric on three public datasets, respectively.
