One key frontier of artificial intelligence (AI) is the ability to comprehend research articles and validate their findings, posing a magnanimous problem for AI systems to compete with human intelligence and intuition. As a benchmark of research validation, the existing peer-review system still stands strong despite being criticized at times by many. However, the paper vetting system has been severely strained due to an influx of research paper submissions and increased conferences/journals. As a result, problems, including having insufficient reviewers, finding the right experts, and maintaining review quality, are steadily and strongly surfacing. To ease the workload of the stakeholders associated with the peer-review process, we probed into what an AI-powered review system would look like. In this work, we leverage the interaction between the paper's full text and the corresponding peer-review text to predict the overall recommendation score and final decision. We do not envisage AI reviewing papers in the near future. Still, we intend to explore the possibility of a human–AI collaboration in the decision-making process to make the current system FAIR. The idea is to have an assistive decision-making tool for the chairs/editors to help them with an additional layer of confidence, especially with borderline and contrastive reviews. We use a deep attention network between the review text and paper to learn the interactions and predict the overall recommendation score and final decision. We also use sentiment information encoded within peer-review texts to guide the outcome further. Our proposed model outperforms the recent state-of-the-art competitive baselines. Monitoring and managing litter on the roadways is important not only for preserving the cleanliness and esthetic appeal of our cities but also for safeguarding the overall health and sanitary environment of citizens. With the development of artificial intelligence, it is now possible to design algorithms capable of autonomously assessing the sanitation status of roadways. In this paper, we propose a method for detecting garbage on roads as our solution to tackle the issue. The proposed model is a deep learning model with an attention mechanism introduced to detect garbage in real-time scenarios. Furthermore, the object recognition capability of the model is enhanced through transfer learning to mitigate the influence of irrelevant content during training. The refined network can detect rubbish on roads with higher efficiency than the existing models. Also, compared with other methods, it consumes less amount of data for training. The recognition of steel microstructure images plays a crucial role in the metallographic analysis process. Although some progress has been made through the application of artificial intelligence algorithms, several challenges remain. First, existing algorithms exhibit weak nonlinear feature extraction capabilities and noticeable limitations. Second, they overlook the intrinsic noise and redundant interference present in microscopic images. To address these issues, this paper investigates the automatic recognition of metallographic tissues by leveraging residual structures in deep neural networks. An enhanced residual network model based on transfer learning is proposed, which utilizes the pre-trained weights from the ImageNet dataset to facilitate learning with small sample data. This network offers higher classification accuracy and higher F1 scores. In addition, a deep residual shrinkage network model based on an attention mechanism is proposed. This model incorporates an attention sub-network into the original residual module and employs a soft threshold function to eliminate redundant features, including noise. The proposed algorithms are evaluated against various convolutional neural networks using 20 types of metallographic test sets. The experimental results showed that both methods have high accuracy rates of 95% and 94.44%, respectively, and F1 scores of 0.9464 and 0.9419. While maintaining the complexity of the model, there has been a significant improvement in accuracy, and the models exhibit strong generalization capabilities. Semantic relatedness is one of the most significant aspects of natural language processing. It has been identified as a critical technology for developing intelligent systems like Siri, Microsoft Ice, Cortana, and Xiaoai. In 2014, SemEval ranked SR as the top task. While many existing studies have focused on analyzing the entailment of single phrases, advancements in deep learning have made it possible to analyze complete sentences or texts. While the natural parallelism of membrane computing has shown promise for data processing, harnessing this potential to advance semantic relatedness remains an open problem yet to be tackled. This paper proposes a novel Siamese Manhattan LSTM-SNP approach (SiMaLSTM-SNP) for the SR problem. The approach uses a collaborative Word2vec and 10-Layer Attention strategy to represent and extract sentence pairs and a Siamese LSTM-SNP structure to calculate the hidden states of sentences. The multi-head self-attention layer identifies text associations and redistributes hidden state weights. The last hidden state is extracted, and the relatedness score is calculated using the Manhattan distance. The experiments demonstrate that SiMaLSTM-SNP outperforms 17 classical SR baselines and 7 novel approaches on the standard datasets SICK and STS in terms of mean square error performance. When using deep learning methods to model natural language, a recurrent neural network that can map input sequences to output sequences is usually used. Considering that natural language contains more complicated syntactic structures, and the performance of cyclic neural networks in long sentence processing will decrease, scholars have introduced an attention mechanism into the model, which has improved the above problems to a certain extent. The existing attention mechanism still has some shortcomings, such as the inability to explicitly obtain the known syntactic structure information in the sentence, and the poor interpretability of the output probability. In response to the above problems, this article will improve the attention mechanism in the recurrent neural network model. Firstly, the prior information in the natural language sequence is constructed as a graph model through syntactic analysis and other means, and then the graph structure regularization term is introduced into the sparse mapping. A new function netmax is constructed to replace the softmax function in the traditional attention mechanism, thereby improving the performance of the model and making the degree of association. The input values corresponding to larger input samples are closer, making the output of the attention mechanism easier to understand. The innovation of this paper mainly lies in that the weight calculation method which can be widely used in the attention mechanism is proposed by combining the deep learning model with statistical knowledge, which opens a channel to introduce the prior information for the deep learning model in natural language processing tasks. As the main research content of artificial intelligence, the artificial neural network has been widely concerned because of its excellent performance in the fields such as computer vision and natural language processing since it was proposed in the 1940s. The neuron model of the traditional neural network was proposed by McCulloch and Pitts in 1943 (MP neurons), But MP neurons is too simple to representing biological neurons. Based on this, this paper studies the attention mechanism and proposes vectorized neuron and its activation function. Firstly, we propose vectorized neurons, then use the attention mechanism to dynamically generate connection weights between vectorized neurons. Nextly, we construct a new type of neural network with vectorized neurons, which we called neural functional group (NFG). Finally, we tested the proposed neural functional group model on two tasks: image classifcation and few-shot learning. The vectorized neuron can be conditionally activated through its activation function. Besides, the vectorized neuron has the potential of representing complex biological neurons, which is difficult for MP neuron. The experimental results show that it can achieve higher accuracy with fewer parameters than convolutional neural networks (CNN) and capsule networks in image classication task; it also competitive to CNN based feature extractor in few-shot learning task. To solve the problem of low sign language recognition rate under the condition of small samples, a simple and effective static gesture recognition method based on an attention mechanism is proposed. The method proposed in this paper can enhance the features of both the details and the subject of the gesture image. The input of the proposed method depends on the intermediate feature map generated by the original network. Also, the proposed convolutional model is a lightweight general module, which can be seamlessly integrated into any CNN(Convolutional Neural Network) architecture and achieve significant performance gains with minimal overhead. Experiments on two different datasets show that the proposed method is effective and can improve the accuracy of sign language recognition of the benchmark model, making its performance better than the existing methods. Recently, very deep convolution neural network (CNN) has shown strong ability in single image super-resolution (SISR) and has obtained remarkable performance. However, most of the existing CNN-based SISR methods rarely explicitly use the high-frequency information of the image to assist the image reconstruction, thus making the reconstructed image looks blurred. To address this problem, a novel contour enhanced Image Super-Resolution by High and Low Frequency Fusion Network (HLFN) is proposed in this paper. Specifically, a contour learning subnetwork is designed to learn the high-frequency information, which can better learn the texture of the image. In order to reduce the redundancy of the contour information learned by the contour learning subnetwork during fusion, the spatial channel attention block (SCAB) is introduced, which can select the required high-frequency information adaptively. Moreover, a contour loss is designed and it is used with the ℓ 1 loss to optimize the network jointly.
