Abstract

The article reports on the proposal of the government agency Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to change the Obama-era-federal regulation for power plant coal-ash disposal enacted in 2015 after several major spills in the U.S. It states that the agency has published the first of two rule amendment aimed at saving more than 400 coal-fired plants nationwide. However, environmentalists expressed concern that the changes will allow states to set less stringent standards.
