Summary: Many electrical systems are expressed as a complex ladder network consisting of combinations of resistances, inductances, and capacitances. Computation of electrical characteristics, such as voltages, currents, and equivalent impedances of these ladder networks require the solution of complicated differential‐algebraic equations that are quite tedious and cumbersome. The earlier works have given particular attention to purely resistive ladder networks ignoring the inductance and capacitance parameters. Moreover, there are no direct expressions available to quickly compute these characteristics. This paper derives generalized analytical expressions that can be directly used to obtain the electrical characteristics of a finite as well as semi‐infinite homogenous ladder network by simply plugging the values of its constituent parameters. Expressions are deduced for excitation source applied to the input terminal and across 2 arbitrary nodes, respectively. Kirchhoff mesh and node laws along with ordinary algebra and trigonometric theorems are applied to derive these expressions. Boundary‐value technique is used to circuit equations to determine unknown coefficients of the expressions. The derivation given in these paper would surely help the readers to quickly compute the electrical characteristics without solving recursive circuit equations and avoiding complex state‐space matrices. Summary: Fractional circuits have attracted extensive attention of scholars and researchers for their superior performance and potential applications. Fractional circuits constitute a new challenge for the analysis and synthesis methods of traditional circuits theory. Passivity is the fundamental property of traditional circuits (integer order electric circuits). As is known to all, passivity is equivalent to positive realness in traditional linear circuits. However, this equivalence is broken down by introducing fractional elements into electrical networks in s‐domain. To address this issue, on the basis of s‐W transformation, we study the passive criteria of fractional circuits with rational order elements in this paper. Definitions of positive‐real (matrix) function in W‐domain are given, and the equivalence conditions of positive realness are derived. In addition, a conclusion is proposed in which the immittance (matrix) function of passive fractional circuits with rational order elements is positive real in W‐domain. This paper presents a 67GHz LC oscillator exploiting a three-spiral transformer and implemented in 65nm bulk complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor technology by STMicroelectronics. The three-spiral transformer allows operating with a lower voltage supply, still obtaining good phase noise performance, and achieving a compact design. Measured performances when supplied with 1.2 V are: oscillation frequency of 67 GHz, phase noise ( PN) equal to −96 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz frequency offset from the carrier, power consumption ( PC) equal to 19.2 mW and figure of merit ( FOM) equal to −179.7 dB/Hz. Measured performances when supplied with 0.6 V are: oscillation frequency of 67 GHz; PN equal to −88.7 dBc/Hz at a 1 MHz frequency offset from the carrier; PC equal to 3.6 mW and FOM equal to −179.7 dB/Hz. SUMMARY A contactless outlet for dc distribution systems is proposed. It uses an inductive contactless power transfer circuit with a series/parallel compensation circuit to prevent voltage fluctuation. However, the output voltage of the circuit rises in light load conditions. In this paper, the main circuit and control method for reducing the rise in output voltage and a method of estimating the output voltage are presented.
