Background: Every year the scientific sessions of Annual National Conference of Indian Psychiatric Society (ANCIPS) are marked by presentation of free papers, posters, and award paper sessions, which are usually meant for presentation of new research which is not yet published. Hence, it is expected that these papers will be published in near future so that the scientific literature is distributed and shared with wider audience. Aim: This paper aims to evaluate the abstract to publication rate of papers presented during ANCIPS in the years 2012–2014. Materials and Methods: For this study, all the free papers, posters, and award papers presented during the ANCIPS of 2012–2014 were listed, and electronic searches were carried out to search for published articles. In addition, one of the authors of papers not found in the electronic searches were contacted through E-mail. Results: A total of 1081 papers were presented during the ANCIPS in the 3 year period under study. Of these, 64 were award papers, 622 were free papers, and 395 were posters. Majority (n = 807; 74.6%) of these could be categorized as research data-based presentations; this was followed by case reports/series (203; 18.8%), review of literature (n = 35; 3.3%), and others (n = 36; 3.3%). Overall, only 27% of the papers were published after at least 5 years of the presentation. Of all the award papers, 69.6% of papers were published, whereas only 26.8% of free oral papers and 22.5% of free posters were published. About half (45.6%) of the papers were published in national journals. In terms of indexing, among those which were published, 62.8% were published in Medline-indexed (PubMed-listed) Journals with a mean impact factor of 1. Purpose: To determine the publication rates of free papers and posters presented at the All India Ophthalmic Conference (AIOC) 2010 in peer-reviewed journals up to December 2015 and compare this with publication rates from AIOC2000 published previously.Methods: A thorough literature search was conducted using PubMed, Google Scholar, and the general Google search engine by two independent investigators. The title of the paper, keywords and author names were used to "match" the AIOC free-paper with the published paper. In addition, the "purpose," "methods," and "outcome measures" between the two were studied to determine the "match."Results: A total of 58 out of 394 free-papers (14.7%) from AIOC2010 were published till December 2015 compared to 16.5% from AIOC2000. Out of these, 52 (90%) were published in PubMed indexed journals. Maximum publications were seen in pediatric ophthalmology (50%) followed by glaucoma (24.4%) and cornea (23.8%). Fifteen out of 272 posters (5.5%) were published; orbit/oculoplastics had the highest poster publications (13%). Excluding papers in nonindexed journals and those by authors with international affiliations, the publication rate was approximately 12%.Conclusion: The publication rate of free papers from AIOC2010 has marginally reduced compared to AIOC2000. Various causes for this such as lack of adequate training, motivation, and lack of incentives for research in the Indian scenario have been explored, and measures to improve this paradigm have been discussed. It will be prudent to repeat this exercise every decade to compare publication rates between periodic AIOC, stimulate young minds for quality research and educate policy makers toward the need for developing dedicated research departments across the country. Background: Qualitative research methods (QRMs) bear a critical role in psychiatry as they explore the phenomenology of psychiatric illness and its sociocultural dimensions. However, there is limited evidence regarding its use in psychiatric research in India. Aim: This study, under the aegis of mapping qualitative health research in India initiative, attempted to landscape the use of QRMs in psychiatry and elicited expert opinion on its potential, perceived quality, and scope for improvement. Materials and Methods: We reviewed studies using qualitative methodology published in the Indian Journal of Psychiatry (IJP) and the abstracts presented at the Annual Conference of the Indian Psychiatric Society (ANCIPS) between 2010 and 2019. Titles and abstracts were screened and shortlisted; full-text articles were checked to identify the relevant ones. In addition, ten experts comprising psychiatry journal reviewers, editors, and conference scientific committee members were interviewed to elicit their views and suggestions. Results: Out of 356 papers published in IJP between 2010 and 2019, only 12 papers used QRMs: five qualitative and seven mixed methods. Out of 2297 abstracts published between 2010 and 2019 in ANCIPS, only 28 had used QRMs, consisting of 20 qualitative and eight mixed methods. The findings reveal that qualitative research is still an understudied domain in Indian psychiatry with a substantial need for rigor and quality. Conclusions: To catalyze the use of qualitative research in Indian psychiatry, continuing medical education programs through workshops or webinar mode need to be imparted. Background: Medical record keeping is a systematic method of documentation of a single patient's medical history and treatment record over time). It is crucial from multiple perspectives: patients, health care providers, medical research, etc. Conventinally, these records have been made with pen and paper. However, recent advances have led to the development of e-health record systems (EHRS). Objective: The primary objective is to describe our experiences at NeuroGen, where we have used all methods of patient documentation including traditional paper-pen method, video documentation, and EHRS. The secondary objective is to present the advantages and limitations of the different record keeping methods. Study Design: This is an interview-based descriptive study. Methods: We designed and conducted a questionnaire to compare traditional methods versus EHRS that was administered to 40 of our health care providers to obtain their feedback. We hereby present the advantages and disadvantages of traditional and EHRS based on the questionnaire. Results: The poster highlights that the EHRS when combined with video recording, whcich we are currently using at NeuroGen, vary in benefits and limitations, benefits outweighing the limitations. Conclusion: We conclude that despite the limitations of EHRS, traditional methods will soon have to be replaced and therefore recommend adaptation to the electronic health record system. Background: Stress can cause a significant impact on social and occupational participation to the extent that is significant clinically. This study thus aims to verify any correlation among self-reported mindfulness, perceived stress, and psychological well-being among individuals in intimacy versus isolation (19-40 years) and generativity versus stagnation (40-65 years) stage of Erick Erikson's classification of development. Objectives: (1) To measure psychological well-being, mindfulness, and perceived stress in people from the two developmental stages. (2) To study the correlation between psychological factors (the six dimensions of psychological well-being and mindfulness) with stress in each group. (3) To compare between these two developmental stages and the relationship between psychological factors and stress. Study Design: This is a cross-sectional study. Methods: Males and females belonging to intimacy versus isolation (19-40 years) and generativity versus stagnation (40-65 years) stage of Erick Erikson's classification of development were included in the study. Paper-based version of perceived stress scale, mindful attention awareness scale (MAAS), and Ryff's psychological well-being scale were administered. The scores of perceived stress scale, MAAS, and Ryff's psychological well-being were compared. Results: individuals belonging to the intimacy versus isolation stage showed higher scores on stress and lower scores on mindfulness as compared to individuals in generativity versus stagnation (40-65 years) stage of development. Background: Occupational stress is a change in one's physical or mental state in response to workplace that pose an appraised challenge or threat to that employee and it is common to each and every organization at various levels of hierarchy. The healthcare professionals are no exception to this. Thus this study was done to determine the work related stress among healthcare professionals in Goa, India. Objective: To determine the occupational stress factors of healthcare professionals in Goa, using the questionnaire of Occupational stress index scale. Study Design: A cross sectional quantitative study design was chosen for the study. Methods: The nonprobability convenient sampling method was adopted to recruit the health care professionals practicing in Goa. Results: Healthcare professionals (n=40) practicing in Goa, aged above 20 years, both males and females were included in the study. According to the findings, 38% of participants were highly stressed, and 32% were moderately stressed. The factors significantly contributing to occupational stress were found to be role overload (mean=20.55), role conflict (mean=14.84), unreasonable group and political pressure (mean =13.67), strenuous working conditions (mean=13.2), under participation (mean =11.5) and role ambiguity (mean=11.4). Conclusion: The study concludes that the healthcare professionals in Goa, have significant work related stress and is mainly due to the the brain. Principal targets of this therapy are the motor thalamus (Vo & Vim) and the Globus Pallidus Interna (GPi), two areas of the brain involved in movement. RF procedures continue to play a role even in patients for whom DBS is the ideal surgery but is contraindicated or who would have difficulty maintaining the DBS device. Since the first COVID-19 lockdown in India was declared, all scientific conferences and related activities have been conducted in online formats (1). The ACS(I) [Association of Cutaneous Surgeons (India)] conducted its Annual National Conference called ACSICON-2021 for over 1150 delegates in mid-2021 in a hybrid mode. ACS(I) was one of the first organizations to embrace the hybrid conferencing strategy in the post-COVID-19 era in India. However, while meeting feedback and testimonials are typically gathered, there is very little public data documenting conference attendees' viewpoints. The goal of this research study was to look at the viewpoints of medical conference attendees (such as physicians and medical professionals) on hybrid conferencing as a future trend, the danger of infectivity and transmissibility of COVID-19 during and after the event, the effectiveness of stringent safety protocols and vaccination in preventing the disease and thereby assess the feasibility of hybrid conference as the most convenient mode of learning interaction in the current COVID-19 era and also Post COVID-19 era. Materials and Methods: The physical attendees were surveyed post-ACSICON 2021 conference online, using a mixed-methods technique. Attendees were given a 16-point questionnaire using Google Forms that covered subjects including the COVID-19 preventive procedure, immunization status, infection rates during and after the conference, and overall satisfaction with the hybrid conference. A total of 231 people were sent the survey questionnaire. Results: Only 0.4% (n = 1) of the participants reported being infected by COVID-19 virus after the conference. 86% (n = 198) of the respondents also felt that all the necessary precautions were taken during the ACSICON 2021conference. Most of the respondents (82%, n = 189) rated the hybrid conference interaction to be more satisfying than an online conference. An overwhelming majority of the respondents (92%, n = 209) found hybrid conferences to be a safer option than regular conference. Conclusion: The COVID-19 pandemic's scope has forced a paradigm change in medical practice and research (1). ACSICON 2021 is an example of how, with careful organization, strict implementation of meticulous preventive procedures, and strict adherence to the COVID-19 protocol, medical conferences may be held without danger of infection and its transmission. Given the pace with which vaccinations are being administered, a new reality in which technology and live networking intersect via hybrid conferences will result in a more engaging and adaptable medical conference experience. The world, particularly in the past decade was shaped by events that exposed the drastic inequalities in modern-day societies. The social scientists and policy makers have looked at the interactions between these inequalities and health/illness. These interactions play a key role in the prevention, precipitation and treatment outcomes of mental health problems. The relevance of social determinants are often shaped by public policies that is a reflection of prevailing political ideologies. Adding to the problem is also a chronic underfunding in mental health creating a mental health treatment gap. Tackling these inequalities and understanding these social determinants, particularly in mental health and illness, will be key in the years ahead. Background: Relationship between quality of life (QOL) and occupational performance in post-retired employees needs research as there is limited research evidence. Objectives: To find out the physical, psychological, and social relationship, environment, and occupational performance for postretired employees and to find out how do they value their functions and their occupational performance. Study Design: This is a survey study Methods: The survey was conducted on individuals ofage group between 60 and75 years; both genders were included for this study; and this study was done in and around Coimbatore. A total number of 50 samples were selected according to the inclusion criteria. The World Health Organization Quality of Life Measure Abbreviated Version (WHO-QOL-BREF) was used to measure the QOL, and Canadian Occupational Performance Measure was administered to identify the occupational performance problems, and thereby, performance' satisfaction scores are calculated. The correlation shows a positive correlation; this is significant at level 0.05. Here, on correlating BREF scale and COPM scale, only four components are correlated and the correlation is positive correlation Results: The correlation between the performance and social relationship showed a significant value (P < 0.05) and the correlation between performance and environment also showed a significant value (P < 0.033). The correlation between satisfaction and psychological (P < 0.042) and the correlation between satisfaction and social relationships also showed a significant value (P < 0.002). The results of this research support the idea that working after retirement affects the QOL with different mechanisms. Therefore, it concludes there is a correlation of QOL and occupational performance and result shows a positive correlation. Conclusion: The study concluded that there is a positive correlation between QOL and occupational performance. It also concluded that there is a positive correlation between social relationship and environment with performance as well as psychological components and social relationship with satisfaction.
