Smart healthcare is altering the delivery of healthcare by combining the benefits of IoT, mobile, and cloud computing. Cloud computing has tremendously helped the health industry connect healthcare facilities, caregivers, and patients for information sharing. The main drivers for implementing effective healthcare systems are low latency and faster response times. Thus, quick responses among healthcare organizations are important in general, but in an emergency, significant latency at different stakeholders might result in disastrous situations. Thus, cutting-edge approaches like edge computing and artificial intelligence (AI) can deal with such problems. A packet cannot be sent from one location to another unless the "quality of service" (QoS) specifications are met. The term QoS refers to how well a service works for users. QoS parameters like throughput, bandwidth, transmission delay, availability, jitter, latency, and packet loss are crucial in this regard. Our focus is on the individual devices present at different levels of the smart healthcare infrastructure and the QoS requirements of the healthcare system as a whole. The contribution of this paper is five-fold: first, a novel pre-SLR method for comprehensive keyword research on subject-related themes for mining pertinent research papers for quality SLR; second, SLR on QoS improvement in smart healthcare apps; third a review of several QoS techniques used in current smart healthcare apps; fourth, the examination of the most important QoS measures in contemporary smart healthcare apps; fifth, offering solutions to the problems encountered in delivering QoS in smart healthcare IoT applications to improve healthcare services. This paper pioneers a novel exploration of environmental impacts in livestock farming, focusing on pig farming's intersection with climate change and sustainability. It emphasizes the transformative potential of data-driven Artificial Intelligence (AI) methodologies, specifically the Internet of Things (IoT) and multimodal data analysis, in promoting equitable and sustainable food systems. The study observes five pigs aged 86 to 108 days using a tripartite sensor that records heart rate, respiration rate, and accelerometer data. The unique experimental design alternates between periods of isolation during feeding and subsequent pairing, enabling the investigation of stress-induced changes. Key inquiries include discerning patterns in heart rate data during isolation versus paired settings, fluctuations in respiration rates, and behavioral shifts induced by isolation or pairing. The study also explores the potential detection of gait abnormalities, correlations between pigs' age and their gait or activity patterns, and the evolution of pigs' walking abilities with age. The paper scrutinizes accelerometer data to detect activity changes when pigs are paired, potentially indicating increased stress or aggression. It also examines the adaptation of pigs to alternating isolation and pairing over time and how their heart rate, respiration rate, and activity data reflect this process. The study considers other significant variables, such as time of day and isolation duration, affecting the pigs' physiological parameters. Sensor data are further utilized to identify behavioral patterns during periods of feeding, isolation, or pairing. The fog computing concept was proposed to help cloud computing for the data processing of Internet of Things (IoT) applications. However, fog computing faces several challenges such as security, privacy, and storage. One way to address these challenges is to integrate blockchain with fog computing. There are several applications of blockchain-fog computing integration that have been proposed, recently, due to their lucrative benefits such as enhancing security and privacy. There is a need to systematically review and synthesize the literature on this topic of blockchain-fog computing integration. The purposes of integrating blockchain and fog computing were determined using a systematic literature review approach and tailored search criteria established from the research questions. In this research, 181 relevant papers were found and reviewed. The results showed that the authors proposed the combination of blockchain and fog computing for several purposes such as security, privacy, access control, and trust management. A lack of standards and laws may make it difficult for blockchain and fog computing to be integrated in the future, particularly in light of newly developed technologies like quantum computing and artificial intelligence. The emergence of the highly contagious coronavirus disease has led to multiple pandemic waves, resulting in a significant number of hospitalizations and fatalities. Even outside of hospitals, general practitioners have faced serious challenges, stretching their resources and putting themselves at risk of infection. Telemonitoring systems based on Internet of things technology have emerged as valuable tools for remotely monitoring disease progression, facilitating rapid intervention, and reducing the risk of hospitalization and mortality. They allow for personalized monitoring strategies and tailored treatment plans, which are crucial for improving health outcomes. However, determining the appropriate monitoring intensity remains the responsibility of physicians, which poses challenges and impacts their workload, and thus, can hinder timely responses. To address these challenges, this paper proposes an expert system designed to recommend and adjust the monitoring intensity for COVID-19 patients receiving home treatment based on their medical history, vital signs, and reported symptoms. The system underwent initial validation using real-world cases, demonstrating a favorable performance (F1-score of 0.85). Subsequently, once integrated with an Internet of Things telemonitoring system, a clinical trial will assess the system's reliability in creating telemonitoring plans comparable with those of medics, evaluate its effectiveness in reducing medic–patient interactions or hospitalizations, and gauge patient satisfaction and safety. In the modern digital landscape of the Internet of Things (IoT), data interoperability and heterogeneity present critical challenges, particularly with the increasing complexity of IoT systems and networks. Addressing these challenges, while ensuring data security and user trust, is pivotal. This paper proposes a novel Semantic IoT Middleware (SIM) for healthcare. The architecture of this middleware comprises the following main processes: data generation, semantic annotation, security encryption, and semantic operations. The data generation module facilitates seamless data and event sourcing, while the Semantic Annotation Component assigns structured vocabulary for uniformity. SIM adopts blockchain technology to provide enhanced data security, and its layered approach ensures robust interoperability and intuitive user-centric operations for IoT systems. The security encryption module offers data protection, and the semantic operations module underpins data processing and integration. A distinctive feature of this middleware is its proficiency in service integration, leveraging semantic descriptions augmented by user feedback. The Internet of Things (IoT) has grown more pervasive in recent years. It makes it possible to describe the physical world in detail and interact with it in several different ways. Consequently, IoT has the potential to be involved in many different applications, including healthcare, supply chain, logistics, and the automotive sector. IoT-based smart healthcare systems have significantly increased the value of organizations that rely heavily on IoT infrastructures and solutions. In fact, with the recent COVID-19 pandemic, IoT played an important role in combating diseases. However, IoT devices are tiny, with limited capabilities. Therefore, IoT systems lack encryption, insufficient privacy protection, and subject to many attacks. Accordingly, IoT healthcare systems are extremely vulnerable to several security flaws that might result in more accurate, quick, and precise diagnoses. On the other hand, blockchain technology has been proven to be effective in many critical applications. Blockchain technology combined with IoT can greatly improve the healthcare industry's efficiency, security, and transparency while opening new commercial choices. This paper is an extension of the current effort in the IoT smart healthcare systems. It has three main contributions, as follows: (1) it proposes a smart unsupervised medical clinic without medical staff interventions. It tries to provide safe and fast services confronting the pandemic without exposing medical staff to danger. (2) It proposes a deep learning algorithm for COVID-19 detection-based X-ray images; it utilizes the transfer learning (ResNet152) model. This paper proposes a novel multimodal generative adversarial network AVSR (multimodal AVSR GAN) architecture, to improve both the energy efficiency and the AVSR classification accuracy of artificial intelligence Internet of things (IoT) applications. The audio-visual speech recognition (AVSR) modality is a classical multimodal modality, which is commonly used in IoT and embedded systems. Examples of suitable IoT applications include in-cabin speech recognition systems for driving systems, AVSR in augmented reality environments, and interactive applications such as virtual aquariums. The application of multimodal sensor data for IoT applications requires efficient information processing, to meet the hardware constraints of IoT devices. The proposed multimodal AVSR GAN architecture is composed of a discriminator and a generator, each of which is a two-stream network, corresponding to the audio stream information and the visual stream information, respectively. To validate this approach, we used augmented data from well-known datasets (LRS2-Lip Reading Sentences 2 and LRS3) in the training process, and testing was performed using the original data. The research and experimental results showed that the proposed multimodal AVSR GAN architecture improved the AVSR classification accuracy. The Internet of Things (IoT) is increasingly becoming a part of our daily lives, raising significant concerns about future cybersecurity risks and the need for reliable solutions. This study conducts a comprehensive systematic literature review to examine the various challenges and attacks threatening IoT cybersecurity, as well as the proposed frameworks and solutions. Furthermore, it explores emerging trends and identifies existing gaps in this domain. The study's novelty lies in its extensive exploration of machine learning techniques for detecting and countering IoT threats. It also contributes by highlighting research gaps in economic impact assessment and industrial IoT security. The systematic review analyzes 40 articles, providing valuable insights and guiding future research directions. Results show that privacy issues and cybercrimes are the primary concerns in IoT security, and artificial intelligence holds promise for future cybersecurity. However, some attacks remain inadequately addressed by existing solutions, such as confidentiality, security authentication, and data server connection attacks, necessitating further research and real-life testing of proposed remedies. The recent upsurge of smart cities' applications and their building blocks in terms of the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), federated and distributed learning, big data analytics, blockchain, and edge-cloud computing has urged the design of the upcoming 6G network generation, due to their stringent requirements in terms of the quality of services (QoS), availability, and dependability to satisfy a Service-Level-Agreement (SLA) for the end users. Industries and academia have started to design 6G networks and propose the use of AI in its protocols and operations. Published papers on the topic discuss either the requirements of applications via a top-down approach or the network requirements in terms of agility, performance, and energy saving using a down-top perspective. In contrast, this paper adopts a holistic outlook, considering the applications, the middleware, the underlying technologies, and the 6G network systems towards an intelligent and integrated computing, communication, coordination, and decision-making ecosystem. In particular, we discuss the temporal evolution of the wireless network generations' development to capture the applications, middleware, and technological requirements that led to the development of the network generation systems from 1G to AI-enabled 6G and its employed self-learning models. We provide a taxonomy of the technology-enabled smart city applications' systems and present insights into those systems for the realization of a trustworthy and efficient smart city ecosystem. The emergence of a new generation of applications such as the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, and 5G has brought fog computing as cloud development toward the edge network. It is done by adding an extra layer of resources to meet low latency, high performance, mobility, and interoperability challenges. The development of fog markets and new beneficial business paradigms such as fog services considerably affect the future of fogonomics (which is defined as the economics of fog computing). Thus, it is a challenging issue to design a market-oriented model to deal with the economics-based resource management in fog computing, which adjusts the resource supply of Fog Resource Providers (FRPs) and the demands of User Services (USs) based on users' requirements while satisfying all parties' utilities. This paper proposes the Fog-Marketing scheme consisting of a Resource Propagation Component (RPC) and a Contract-aware Market Selection Component (CMSC) for resource provisioning in multi-tier fog computing. The RPC is deployed in each fog node to perform hierarchical resource propagation of FRPs to auction-based Fog Decentralized Markets (FDMs) close to USs to increase revenue opportunities, and embedded CMSC in the user agent applies a matching strategy to assign USs and FDMs aims to promote USs' utility. The simulation results under extensive experiments confirmed that the proposed scheme succeeded in reducing the Round-Trip-Time, increasing the revenue of FRPs, and improving the utility of USs compared to existing models. This research investigates cybersecurity in the context of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), which encompasses the cybersecurity mechanisms used for various healthcare devices connected to the system. This study seeks to provide a concise overview of several artificial intelligence (AI)-based methodologies and techniques, as well as examining the associated solution approaches used in cybersecurity for healthcare systems. The analyzed methodologies are further categorized into four groups: machine learning (ML) techniques, deep learning (DL) techniques, a combination of ML and DL techniques, Transformer-based techniques, and other state-of-the-art techniques, including graph-based methods and blockchain methods. In addition, this article presents a detailed description of the benchmark datasets that are recommended for use in intrusion detection systems (IDS) for both IoT and IoMT networks. In recent years, the rapid growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) has raised concerns about the security and reliability of IoT systems. Anomaly detection is vital for recognizing potential risks and ensuring the optimal functionality of IoT networks. This paper compares predictive algorithms for smart agriculture sensor data in Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The main objective of IoT in agriculture is to improve productivity and reduce production costs using advanced technology and artificial intelligence. In this study, we compared various predictive algorithms for analyzing IoT smart agriculture sensor data. Specifically, we evaluated the performance of NeuralProphet, Random Forest Regression, SARIMA, and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) by KERAS algorithms on a dataset containing temperature, humidity, and soil moisture data. The dataset was collected using IoT sensors in a smart agriculture system. The results showed that Random Forest Regression, Seasonal ARIMA, and Artificial Neural Networks by KERAS algorithms outperformed NeuralProphet algorithm in terms of accuracy and computational efficiency. Air pollution has become a global issue due to its widespread impact on the environment, economy, civilization and human health. Owing to this, a lot of research and studies have been done to tackle this issue. However, most of the existing methodologies have several issues such as high cost, low deployment, maintenance capabilities and uni-or bi-variate concentration of air pollutants. In this paper, a hybrid CNN-LSTM model is presented to forecast multivariate air pollutant concentration for the Internet of Things (IoT) enabled smart city design. The amalgamation of CNN-LSTM acts as an encoder-decoder which improves the overall accuracy and precision. The performance of the proposed CNN-LSTM is compared with conventional and hybrid machine learning (ML) models on the basis of Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) and Mean Square Error (MSE). The proposed model outperforms various state-of-the-art ML models by generating an average MAE, MAPE and MSE of 54.80%, 52.78% and 60.02%. Furthermore, the predicted results are cross-validated with the actual concentration of air pollutants and the proposed model achieves a high degree of prediction accuracy to real-time air pollutants concentration. Moreover, a cross-grid cooperative scheme is proposed to tackle the IoT monitoring station malfunction scenario and make the pollutant monitoring more fault resistant and robust. The proposed scheme exploits the correlation between neighbouring monitoring stations and air pollutant concentration. The model generates an average MAPE and MSE of 10.90% and 12.02%, respectively. This paper aims at creating a new Trust Management System (TMS) for a system of nodes. Various systems already exist which only use a simple function to calculate the trust value of a node. In the age of artificial intelligence the need for learning ability in an Internet of Things (IoT) system arises. Malicious nodes are a recurring issue and there still has not been a fully effective way to detect them beforehand. In IoT systems, a malicious node is detected after a transaction has occurred with the node. To this end, this paper explores how Artificial Intelligence (AI), and specifically Linear Regression (LR), could be utilised to predict a malicious node in order to minimise the damage in the IoT ecosystem. This paper first introduces the background and basic concept of digital twin city, then analyzes the relationship between digital twin city and smart city. Next, it introduces the primary supporting technologies for the construction of a digital twin city, and finally summarizes the current application status and development trends regarding digital twin city. The authors argue that digital twin technology will face challenges in regards to data, basic knowledge base, system integration, and talent issues if it is to be more widely applied in the construction of the smart city. In the era of the knowledge economy, one of the key issues is how to integrate and use intelligent information systems to collect data and make valuable predictions to support business decisions. Intelligent information systems use artificial intelligence to enhance system performance, giving the enterprise a competitive advantage. This paper uses ontology technology for user requirements analysis—defining the class, slot, and instance of the ontology—and then designs the system architecture based on that ontology. In accordance with the firm's requirements, we build a data warehouse system that is integrated with different data sources within the enterprise and that supports a web-based interface in the Internet of Things (IoT). The system also supports the standard queries, reports, summary tables, and datasets required for data mining. The proposed data mining method for manufacturing industries that use Bayesian network incorporates Bayesian theory and graphical models and can predict causal and probabilistic relationships among a set of variables. Our results bring information system functionality closer to satisfying the real-world needs of business. The proposed system can reduce production cycle times, increase the speed and accuracy with which production information is analyzed, and offer predictions that can be used for better business decisions. The amount of network traffic generated from the Internet of Things (IoT) devices is massive which leads to Big data. In present scenario, IoT devices has taken a leap ahead in terms of growing technology and insecure network traffic flow. The sensitivity of the data in the IoT network is becoming very high, which concern the security in legal and privacy issues. Traditional Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is used as a primary line security to differentiate between the attack and benign network traffic flow. As the size of the network traffic capture increases, it becomes more important to handle such big data. Similarly, when the number of classes and instances increases, the complexity of the data also increases. In this paper, we propose a big data platform based intrusion detection system which can differentiate between the types of network traffic flow generated from the IoT devices. We compared the performance of deep learning algorithms with machine learning algorithms on Apache Spark platform and found that machine learning algorithms outperform deep learning algorithms with greater accuracy and less training time for the model. Many IoT applications entail the collection and also forwarding of event data. To realize the IoT's potential, combining it with artificial intelligence (AI) technologies is necessary. The IoT collects data, which AI processes so as to make sense of it. In order to trigger an action in the IoT and in AI applications, knowledge of the time at which an event occurs can be very useful. Time information, in fact, is an essential infrastructural component of any distributed system. Indeed, in IoT and AI applications, time information and time synchronization are among the most fundamental components. The IoT and AI thus require a scheme for data's combination with time. This paper proposes a network clock model that enables the sharing, by IoT and AI devices, of a consistent notion of time. A proposed network clock model is implemented and evaluated in an actual test platform of MICAz-compatible sensor nodes operated in TinyOS 2.0 and Arduino Uno (R3) in order to verify its feasibility. The present study uses a bibliometric and systematic literature review (SLR) to examine the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Digital Twins (DT) in the construction industry. The network visualization and other approaches based on the Web of Science (WOS) database and the patterns of research interactions were explored in 1879 academic publications using co-occurrence and co-citation investigations. Significant publications, conferences, influential authors, countries, organizations, and funding agencies have been recognized. Our study demonstrates that BIM, IoT, and DT in construction, Heritage BIM (HBIM), Smart Contracts, BIM, and Ontology, and VR and AR in BIM and DT are the main study themes. Finally, several prospective areas for future study are identified, including BIM and Metaverse technology, BIM and Artificial Intelligence (AI), Metaheuristic algorithms for optimization purposes in BIM, and the Circular Economy with BIM and IoT. Smart home automation is expected to improve living standards with the evolution of internet of things (IoT) that facilitate the remote control of residential appliances. There are, however, several factors that require attention for broader successful consumer adoption. This paper focusses on three key barriers: (i) different underlying technologies requiring an integrated voice-based control for ease of use, (ii) lack of trust due to security and privacy concerns, and (iii) unawareness of the use of machine intelligence by users for exploiting the full potential of smartness. Voice-controlled home environments are possible with cloud-based solutions that are being deployed commercially. However, there are drawbacks due to non-standard voice channels and commands with delays in meeting the required response time for real-time services. Adoption is also required to meet with the expected goals of simplicity, security, and integration. To address these barriers, we propose a model integrating IoT services and wireless technologies for developing a secure smart home automation with a voice-controlled artificial intelligence system. We demonstrate the model's application in a variety of practical use cases, by implementing a secure and smart voice-based system for an integrated control of several home devices seamlessly. Recent developments in technology and connectivity have led to the emergence of Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in many industries. This paper studies the impacts of technologies such as IoT and AI in healthcare through a systematic review of 75 peer-reviewed scholarly journal articles. The analysis reveals exponential growth in the number of articles published in the last decade, a wide variety of publication outlets, a large number of authors, and many conceptual and design science papers, all indicating an emerging field with great publication potential in future years. The analysis further reveals that applications of these technologies are being studied worldwide, not just in the USA but also in many countries in Europe and Asia. The paper also highlights key insights for the top application categories, which include wearables and connectivity, disease detection and treatment, patient care, and sensor networks, and identifies gaps and future research directions related to technology design and acceptance, regulations for data security and privacy, and systems efficacy and safety. Acquiring hands-on skills is nowadays key for engineers in the context of Industry 4.0. However, it is not always possible to achieve this in person. Therefore, it is essential to be able to conduct skill acquisition from a remote location. To support the development of remote labs for experimentation, this work proposes the development of an open Industry 4.0 remote platform that can be easily configured and scaled to develop new remote labs for IoT (Internet of Things), cybersecurity, perception systems, robotics, AI (artificial intelligence), etc. Over time, these capabilities will enable the development of sustainable Industry 4.0 remote labs. These labs will coexist on the same Industry 4.0 platform, as our proposed Industry 4.0 remote platform is capable of connecting multiple heterogeneous types of devices for remote programming. In this way, it is possible to easily design open remote labs for the digital transition to Industry 4.0 in a standardized way, which is the main research goal of our In4Labs project. Several users already conducted a series of IoT experiments on our remote Industry 4.0 platform, providing useful recommendations to be included in future versions of the platform. As a classical artificial intelligence algorithm, the convolutional neural network (CNN) algorithm plays an important role in image recognition and classification and is gradually being applied in the Internet of Things (IoT) system. A compact CNN accelerator for the IoT endpoint System-on-Chip (SoC) is proposed in this paper to meet the needs of CNN computations. Based on analysis of the CNN structure, basic functional modules of CNN such as convolution circuit and pooling circuit with a low data bandwidth and a smaller area are designed, and an accelerator is constructed in the form of four acceleration chains. After the acceleration unit design is completed, the Cortex-M3 is used to construct a verification SoC and the designed verification platform is implemented on the FPGA to evaluate the resource consumption and performance analysis of the CNN accelerator. The CNN accelerator achieved a throughput of 6.54 GOPS (giga operations per second) by consuming 4901 LUTs without using any hardware multipliers. The comparison shows that the compact accelerator proposed in this paper makes the CNN computational power of the SoC based on the Cortex-M3 kernel two times higher than the quad-core Cortex-A7 SoC and 67% of the computational power of eight-core Cortex-A53 SoC. Considering the variety of Internet of Things (IoT) device types and access methods, it remains necessary to address the security challenges we currently encounter. Physical layer security (PLS) can offer streamlined security solutions for the next generation of IoT networks. Presently, we are witnessing the application of intelligent technologies including machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) for precise prevention or detection of security breaches. Active eavesdropping detection is a physical layer security-based method that can differentiate wireless signals between wireless devices through feature classification. However, the operation of numerous IoT devices operate in environments characterized by low signal-to-noise ratios (SNR), and active eavesdropping attack detection during communication is rarely studied. We assume that the wireless system comprising an access point (AP), K authorized users and a proactive eavesdropper (E), following the framework of transforming wireless signals at AP into organized datasets that this article proposes a BP neural network model based on deep learning as a classifier to distinguish eavesdropping and non-eavesdropping attack signals. By conducting experiments under SNRs, the numerical results show that the proposed model has stronger robustness and detection accuracy can significantly improve the up to 19.58% compared with the reference approach, which show the superiority of our proposed method. The Internet of Things (IoT) tsunami, public embracement, and the ubiquitous adoption of smart devices are affecting virtually every industry, directly or indirectly. The success of the current and future landscape of IoT and connected devices requires service provision characterized by scalability, ubiquity, reliability, and high-performance, among others. In order to achieve this attribution, the integration of IoT and Cloud Computing (CC), known as cloud IoT, has emerged as a new paradigm providing advanced services specific to aggregating, storing, and processing data generated by IoT. While the convergence of IoT and Cloud brings opportunities, it suffers from specific limitations such as bandwidth, latency, and connectivity. The increasing need for supporting interaction between cloud and IoT led to Edge and Fog Computing (FC) in which computing and storage resources are located not only in the cloud but also at the edges near the source of data. The hierarchical and collaborative edge–fog–cloud architecture brings tremendous benefits as it enables us to distribute the intelligence and computation – including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and big data analytics – to achieve an optimal solution while satisfying the given constraints e.g., delay-energy tradeoff. Due to the hierarchical, cross-layer, and distributed nature of this model, achieving an osmotic and effective convergence of IoT, edge, fog, and cloud computing requires overcoming many challenges with respect to design and implementation, as well as deployment and evaluation. This paper provides a comprehensive insight into the edge-fog-cloud computing paradigm by providing a blend of discussions on all important aspects of the underlying technologies to offer opportunities for more holistic studies and to accelerate knowledge acquisition. To gain a deep understanding of edge–fog–cloud, we will begin this paper by providing an in-depth tutorial and presenting the main requirements, state-of-the-art reference architectures, building blocks, components, protocols, applications, and other similar computing paradigms, including their similarities and differences. Following this, a holistic reference architecture for edge–fog–cloud IoT is presented and the major corresponding design and deployment considerations (e.g., service models, infrastructure design, provisioning, resource allocation, offloading, service migration, performance evaluation, and security concerns) are discussed. This literature review highlights the emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT) and the proliferation of connected devices as the driving force behind the adoption of smart spaces. This paper presents IoH (Intelligence of Home), a platform developed to test some basic intelligent behaviors in Home context. Internet of Things, ambient intelligence and context awareness approaches motivated the development of IoH. The platform involves six layers, responsible by connectivity, persistency, unification, Internet of Things integration, subsystems integration and user interface. The integrated subsystems involve intelligent systems for light control, television brightness control, desk light control, persons counting and air conditioner control. The IoH platform is then tested for a real building, and results and conclusions are obtained. Different intelligent methods and technologies are used, form the use of a diversity of sensors, actuators, and controllers and processing units to a set of artificial intelligence approaches varying from machine learning and optimization algorithms to the use of sensor fusion and computer vision. In recent years, interest in home energy management systems (HEMS) has grown significantly, as well as the development of Voice Assistants that substantially increase home comfort. This paper presents a novel merging of HEMS with the Assistant paradigm. The combination of both concepts has allowed the creation of a high-performance and easy-to-manage expert system (ES). It has been developed in a framework that includes, on the one hand, the efficient energy management functionality boosted with an Internet of Things (IoT) platform, where artificial intelligence (AI) and big data treatment are blended, and on the other hand, an assistant that interacts both with the user and with the HEMS itself. The creation of this ES has made it possible to optimize consumption levels, improve security, efficiency, comfort, and user experience, as well as home security (presence simulation or security against intruders), automate processes, optimize resources, and provide relevant information to the user facilitating decision making, all based on a multi-objective optimization (MOP) problem model. Internet of Things (IoT) technologies serve as a backbone of cutting-edge intelligent systems. Machine Learning (ML) paradigms have been adopted within IoT environments to exploit their capabilities to mine complex patterns. Despite the reported promising results, ML-based solutions exhibit several security vulnerabilities and threats. Specifically, Adversarial Machine Learning (AML) attacks can drastically impact the performance of ML models. It also represents a promising research field that typically promotes novel techniques to generate and/or defend against Adversarial Examples (AE) attacks. In this work, a comprehensive survey on AML attack and defense techniques is conducted for the years 2018–2022. The article investigates the employment of AML techniques to enhance intrusion detection performance within the IoT context. Additionally, it depicts relevant challenges that researchers aim to overcome to implement proper IoT-based security solutions. Thus, this survey aims to contribute to the literature by investigating the application of AML concepts within the IoT context. An extensive review of the current research trends of AML within IoT networks is presented. A conclusion is reached where several findings are reported including a shortage of defense mechanisms investigations, a lack of tailored IoT-based solutions, and the applicability of the existing mechanisms in both attack and defense scenarios. Internet of Things (IoT) is set to revolutionize all aspects of our lives. The number of objects connected to IoT is expected to reach 50 billion by 2020, giving rise to an enormous amounts of valuable data. The data collected from the IoT devices will be used to understand and control complex environments around us, enabling better decision making, greater automation, higher efficiencies, productivity, accuracy, and wealth generation. Data mining and other artificial intelligence methods would play a critical role in creating smarter IoTs, albeit with many challenges. In this paper, we examine the applicability of eight well-known data mining algorithms for IoT data. These include, among others, the deep learning artificial neural networks (DLANNs), which build a feed forward multi-layer artificial neural network (ANN) for modelling high-level data abstractions. Our preliminary results on three real IoT datasets show that C4.5 and C5.0 have better accuracy, are memory efficient and have relatively higher processing speeds. At the edge of the network close to the source of the data, edge computing deploys computing, storage and other capabilities to provide intelligent services in close proximity and offers low bandwidth consumption, low latency and high security. It satisfies the requirements of transmission bandwidth, real-time and security for Internet of Things (IoT) application scenarios. Based on the IoT architecture, an IoT edge computing (EC-IoT) reference architecture is proposed, which contained three layers: The end edge, the network edge and the cloud edge. Furthermore, the key technologies of the application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the EC-IoT reference architecture is analyzed. Platforms for different EC-IoT reference architecture edge locations are classified by comparing IoT edge computing platforms. On the basis of EC-IoT reference architecture, an industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) edge computing solution, an Internet of Vehicles (IoV) edge computing architecture and a reference architecture of the IoT edge gateway-based smart home are proposed. The National Basketball Association's (NBA) tournaments are watched by people all over the world via the Internet of Things (IoT). Players who score more points are regarded as star players and are part of the focus of competition for each team. The purpose of this research is to predict the score of NBA league players based on player data using deep learning methods. Various algorithms were compared, the best model for score predictions was obtained, and a comparative analysis of the team was provided to the players. The prediction effect and average MAPE index of limit gradient boosting (XGB) are better than that of other methods. It can be seen that the XGB method has a better fit to the regression problem and high interpretability. Thus, it has the ability to accurately predict and evaluate NBA score predictions. One of the prime aims of smart cities has been to optimally manage the available resources and systems that are used in the city. With an increase in urban population that is set to grow even faster in the future, smart city development has been the main goal for governments worldwide. In this regard, while the useage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques covering the areas of Machine and Deep Learning have garnered much attention for Smart Cities, less attention has focused towards the use of combinatorial optimization schemes. To help with this, the current review presents a coverage of optimization methods and applications from a smart city perspective enabled by the Internet of Things (IoT). A mapping is provided for the most encountered applications of computational optimization within IoT smart cities for five popular optimization methods, ant colony optimization, genetic algorithm, particle swarm optimization, artificial bee colony optimization and differential evolution. For each application identified, the algorithms used, objectives considered, the nature of the formulation and constraints taken in to account have been specified and discussed. Lastly, the data setup used by each covered work is also mentioned and directions for future work have been identified. In recent years, the IoT has emerged as the most promising technology in the key evolution of industry 4.0/industry 5.0, smart home automation (SHA), smart cities, energy savings and many other areas of wireless communication. There is a massively growing number of static and mobile IoT devices with a diversified range of speed and bandwidth, along with a growing demand for high data rates, which makes the network denser and more complicated.
