Herein, the challenge of accurately classifying the manufacturing origin of printing paper, including continent, country, and specific product, was addressed. One-dimensional convolutional neural network (1D CNN) models trained on infrared (IR) spectrum data acquired from printing paper samples were used for the task. The preprocessing of the IR spectra through a second-derivative transformation and the restriction of the spectral range to 1800 to 1200 cm-1 improved the classification performance of the model. The outcomes were highly promising. Models trained on second-derivative IR spectra in the 1800 to 1200-cm-1 range exhibited perfect classification for the manufacturing continent and country, with an impressive F1 score of 0.980 for product classification. Notably, the developed 1D CNN model outperformed traditional machine learning classifiers, such as support vector machines and feed-forward neural networks. In addition, the application of data point attribution enhanced the transparency of the decision-making process of the model, offering insights into the spectral patterns that affect classification. Since deep low‐frequency tremors are considered to be associated with large earthquakes that occur adjacently on the same subducting plate interface, it is important to investigate tremors that occurred before the establishment of modern seismograph networks such as the High Sensitivity Seismograph Network (Hi‐net). We propose a deep‐learning solution to detect evidence of tremors in scanned images of paper seismogram records from over 50 years ago. In this study, we fine‐tuned a convolutional neural network (CNN) based on the Residual Network, which was pre‐trained using images of synthetic waveforms from our previous study, using a data set comprised of images generated from real seismic data recorded digitally by Hi‐net to facilitate a supervised analysis. The fine‐tuned CNN was able to predict the presence or absence of tremors in the Hi‐net images with an accuracy of 98.64%. Gradient‐weighted Class Activation Mapping heatmaps created to visualize model predictions indicated that the CNN's ability to detect tremors is not degraded by the presence of teleseisms. Once validated using the Hi‐net images, the CNN was applied to paper seismograms recorded from 1966 to 1977 at the Kumano observatory in southwest Japan, operated by Earthquake Research Institute, The University of Tokyo. The CNN showed potential for detecting tremors in scanned images of paper seismogram records from the past, facilitating downstream tasks such as the creation of new tremor catalogs. However, further training using an augmented data set to control for variables such as inconsistent plotting pen thickness is required to develop a universally applicable model. Plain Language Summary: In 2002, deep low‐frequency tremors, which periodically occur with much smaller amplitudes and longer durations than common earthquakes, were discovered owing to the establishment of dense seismic arrays in Japan. These tremors are considered to be associated with megathrust earthquakes because they occur in deeper regions of plate boundaries compared with common earthquakes. Investigating tremors that occurred before the establishment of dense seismic arrays is important since megathrust earthquakes recur on intervals of 100–200 years, and digital records from modern seismic arrays cover only a fraction of that time. In this study, we developed a convolutional neural network based on the Residual Network (ResNet) that extracts tremors from images of waveforms recorded more than 50 years ago, when seismometers drew waveforms directly on drum‐rolled paper using a pen. The proposed ResNet, which was trained on seismogram images generated from synthetic waveforms and real data recorded digitally by modern seismic arrays, was applied to scanned images of paper seismograms recorded from 1966 to 1977 at an observatory in southwest Japan. This paper presents a convolutional neural network (CNN) to classify between the conventionally and organically cultivated Memecik varieties of green olives. The image forming method called the rising paper chromatography is utilized in preparing the images of Memecik varieties of green olives for CNN. In the rising chromatography method, 20, 30, and 40% sample concentrations were determined as the suitable concentrations for both organic and conventional olives. The concentrations of AgNO3 and FeSO4 were determined as 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1% for both conventional and organic samples. The visual differences used for differentiation of different types of Memecik green olives are usually determined according to the regional color differences, the vivid color occurrence, the width and the frequency of bowl occurrence, the thin line, and the picks at drop zone by the expert assessors. The testing results in this study verified the effectiveness of the CNN methodology in differentiating between the organically and conventionally cultivated Memecik green olives. The newly designed neural network achieved 100% accuracy. Furthermore, this high accuracy achieved by CNN might suggest that it can be effectively used in place of the expert assessors. The aim of image inpainting is to fill in damaged areas according to certain rules based on information about the adjacent positions of missing areas and the overall structure of the image, a technique that plays a key role in various tasks in computer vision. With the rapid development of deep learning, researchers have combined it with image inpainting and achieved excellent performance. To gain insight into the techniques involved, this paper summarizes the latest research advances in the field of image inpainting. Firstly, existing classical image inpainting methods are reviewed, and traditional image inpainting methods and their advantages and disadvantages are introduced. Secondly, three classical network models are outlined, and the image inpainting methods are classified into single-stage, multi-stage and a priori condition-guided approaches according to different network types and model structures. Representative algorithms among them are selected and their important technical improvement ideas are analyzed and summarized. Then, the common datasets commonly used in image inpainting tasks and the evaluation metrics used to evaluate inpainting results are introduced. The paper presents a comprehensive summary of the various algorithms in terms of network models and inpainting methods, and selects representative algorithms for quantitative and qualitative comparative analysis. Radio frequency interference (RFI) significantly hampers the target detection performance of frequency-modulated continuous-wave radar. To address the problem and maintain the target echo signal, this paper proposes a priori assumption on the interference component nature in the radar received signal, as well as a method for interference estimation and mitigation via time–frequency analysis. The solution employs Fourier synchrosqueezed transform to implement the radar's beat signal transformation from time domain to time–frequency domain, thus converting the interference mitigation to the task of time–frequency distribution image restoration. The solution proposes the use of image processing based on the dual-tree complex wavelet transform and combines it with the spatial domain-based approach, thereby establishing a dual-domain fusion interference filter for time–frequency distribution images. This paper also presents a convolutional neural network model of structurally improved UNet++, which serves as the interference estimator. The proposed solution demonstrated its capability against various forms of RFI through the simulation experiment and showed a superior interference mitigation performance over other CNN model-based approaches. A pipeline is critical in conveying water, oil, gas, petrochemicals, and slurry. As the pipeline ages and corrodes, it becomes susceptible to deterioration, resulting in wastage and hazardous damages depending on the material it transports. To mitigate these risks, implementing a suitable monitoring system becomes essential, enabling the early identification of damage and minimizing waste and the potential for hazardous incidents. The pipeline monitoring system can be exterior, visual/biological, and computational. This paper surveys state-of-the-art approaches and also performs experimental analyses with a few methods in signal/data-driven approaches within computational methods. More precisely, signal processing-based leak localization methods, artificial intelligence-based leak detection methods, and combined approaches are given. This paper implements five signal processing-based methods and 17 artificial intelligence-based methods. This implementation helps to compare and understand the significance of appropriate noise removal and feature extraction. The data for this analysis is collected using acousto-optic sensors from an experimental setup. After implementation, the highest observed leak localization accuracy is 99.14% with the wavelet packet adaptive independent component analysis-based generalized cross correlation, and the highest leak detection accuracy is 98.32% with the one-dimensional convolutional neural network. The increasing availability of hydrological and physiographic spatiotemporal data has boosted machine learning's role in rapid flood mapping. Yet, data scarcity, especially high-resolution DEMs, challenges regions with limited access. This paper examines how DEM type and resolution affect flood prediction accuracy, utilizing a cutting-edge deep learning (DL) method called 1D convolutional neural network (CNN). It utilizes synthetic hydrographs as training input and water depth data obtained from LISFLOOD-FP, a 2D hydrodynamic model, as target data. This study investigates digital surface models (DSMs) and digital terrain models (DTMs) derived from a 1 m LIDAR-based DTM, with resolutions from 15 to 30 m. The methodology is applied and assessed in a established benchmark, city of Carlisle, UK. The models' performance is then evaluated and compared against an observed flood event using RMSE, Bias, and Fit indices. Leveraging the insights gained from this region, the paper discusses the applicability of the methodology to address the challenges encountered in a data-scarce flood-prone region, exemplified by Pakistan. Results indicated that utilizing a 30 m DTM outperformed a 30 m DSM in terms of flood depth prediction accuracy by about 21% during the flood peak stage, highlighting the superior performance of DTM at lower resolutions. Increasing the resolution of DTM to 15 m resulted in a minimum 50% increase in RMSE and a 20% increase in fit index across all flood stages. The findings emphasize that while a coarser resolution DEM may impact the accuracy of machine learning models, it remains a viable option for rapid flood prediction. Recently, with the emergence of many image editing tools (photoshop, Topaz studio, etc.), the authenticity of images has been severely challenged. However, the performance of some existing traditional feature extraction methods and detection methods based on convolutional neural network (CNN) is poor, and the information provided by the features extracted from the network is limited and single. In this paper, an end-to-end ringed residual U-Net is proposed to detect image splicing forgery by blending features of non-natural regions. Some regions with significant differences from the image background are defined as non-natural regions(such as the irregular border at the splicing of images). In this paper, a feature enhancement module for non-natural regions is constructed, which the image through the pooling of four different scales, and these features are then combined with the original image and input to the backbone network for processing, aiming to highlight regions of the image that differ significantly from the background. Therefore, after adding the feature enhancement module for non-natural regions to the end-to-end ring residual U-Net, more attention will be paid to the tampering regions in the feature extraction stage, image manipulation detection and localization will also become more accurate. Compared with some mainstream methods, this method achieves better performance on the three standard datasets(CASIA2.0, NIST2016, COLUMBIA). In order to explore the application of neural networks in the intelligent protection of digital music copyrights, this paper initially investigates the key aspects of digital music-related supply chain management (SCM). Subsequently, this paper introduces a fuzzy, comprehensive evaluation-based method for authenticating digital music infringement. Furthermore, it employs a convolutional neural network to analyze digital music's source components. Within this context, an attention mechanism and an adaptive gate model are meticulously designed. Moreover, a selective adaptive cascade is implemented to optimize the structure of the multi-resolution coder–decoder. Through fuzzy authentication, it becomes feasible to accurately and reliably track and verify copyright information pertaining to digital music, thus providing an effective protective mechanism for the digital music industry. Experimental results reveal that in comparison with the SHN-4 series models, the network model embedded with the channel space (CS) attention module achieves improvements of up to 0.04 dB in terms of performance metrics for human voice and accompaniment sources. Furthermore, it outperforms these models by up to 0.19 dB in music source separation metrics. The incorporation of the adaptive attention mechanism profoundly enhances the model's performance in audio source separation tasks, benefiting both vocal and accompaniment sources. This improvement is evident in the form of a 0.44 SDR enhancement for vocal sources and a 0.18 SDR enhancement for accompaniment sources. Additionally, the proposed two-stage music separation-gate self-attention model surpasses the two-stage music separation-gate model in metrics associated with human voice and accompaniment sources. This outcome convincingly underscores the enhanced effectiveness achieved by integrating CS, self-attention, and adaptive connection in network performance, as well as the adaptive gate structure for music copyright protection. This approach heightens the model's autonomous selectivity, minimizes outliers, stabilizes waveform characteristics, and significantly contributes to the safeguarding of digital content. Since plant diseases occurring during the growth process are a significant factor leading to the decline in both yield and quality, the classification and detection of plant leaf diseases, followed by timely prevention and control measures, are crucial for safeguarding plant productivity and quality. As the traditional convolutional neural network structure cannot effectively recognize similar plant leaf diseases, in order to more accurately identify the diseases on plant leaves, this paper proposes an effective plant disease image recognition method aECA-ResNet34. This method is based on ResNet34, and in the first and the last layers of this network, respectively, we add this paper's improved aECAnet with the symmetric structure. aECA-ResNet34 is compared with different plant disease classification models on the peanut dataset constructed in this paper and the open-source PlantVillage dataset. The experimental results show that the aECA-ResNet34 model proposed in this paper has higher accuracy, better performance, and better robustness. Deep Self-Attention Network (Transformer) is an encoder–decoder architectural model that excels in establishing long-distance dependencies and is first applied in natural language processing. Due to its complementary nature with the inductive bias of convolutional neural network (CNN), Transformer has been gradually applied to medical image processing, including kidney image processing. It has become a hot research topic in recent years. To further explore new ideas and directions in the field of renal image processing, this paper outlines the characteristics of the Transformer network model and summarizes the application of the Transformer-based model in renal image segmentation, classification, detection, electronic medical records, and decision-making systems, and compared with CNN-based renal image processing algorithm, analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of this technique in renal image processing. Intelligent fault diagnosis utilizing deep learning algorithms is currently a topic of great interest. When developing a new Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architecture to address machine diagnosis problem, it is common to use a deep model, with many layers, many feature maps, and large kernels. These models are capable of learning complex relationships and can potentially achieve superior performance on test data. However, not only does a large network potentially impose undue computational complexity for training and eventual deployment, it may also lead to more brittleness—where data outside of the curated dataset used in CNN training and evaluation is poorly handled. Accordingly, this paper will investigate a methodical approach for identifying a quasi-optimal CNN architecture to maximize robustness when a model is trained under one set of operating conditions, and deployed under a different set of conditions. Optuna software will be used to optimize a baseline CNN model for robustness to different rotational speeds and bearing Model #'s. To further improve the network generalization capabilities, this paper proposes the addition of white Gaussian noise to the raw vibration training data. Results indicate that the number of trainable weights and associated multiplications in the optimized model were reduced by almost 95% without jeopardizing the network classification accuracy. Microscopic image analysis technology helps solve the inadvertences of artificial traditional methods in disease, wastewater treatment, and environmental change monitoring analysis. Convolutional neural network (CNN) play an important role in microscopic image analysis. Image segmentation, in which U-Net is increasingly applied in microscopic image segmentation, is a crucial step in detection, tracking, monitoring, feature extraction, modelling, and analysis. This paper comprehensively reviews the development history of U-Net, analyses several research results of various segmentation methods since the emergence of U-Net, and conducts a comprehensive review of related papers. This paper summarised the improved methods of U-Net and then listed the existing significance of image segmentation techniques and their improvements introduced over the years. Deep neural networks are extensively used in text mining and Natural Language Processing is to enable computers to understand, analyze, and generate natural language data, such as text or speech, but semantic resources, such as taxonomies and ontologies, are not fully included in deep learning. In this paper, we use Deep Convolutional Neural Network (Deep CNN) to classify research papers using the Computer Science Ontology, an ontology of research areas in the field of computer science. It takes as input the abstract and keywords of a particular research paper and returns the relevant research topic. To evaluate our ontology, we used a gold standard dataset that includes research articles. To further improve text classification results, we propose to design a Deep CNN model. We then used ontology matching to reduce the classes and get better results. Experimental results show that the proposed approach outperforms the one with the highest precision, recall, and F1-score. At present, in end-to-end network combined with deep learning in stereo matching, how to perceive ample image details within an acceptable range of computational cost, so as to improve the final matching accuracy, has become a hot research topic. In this paper, we design a cascaded disparity correction network based on DispNet, which can refine the initial disparity image by combining the process output results in the trunk network. The method proposed in this paper is named ETE–DC–CNN (end to end–disparity correction–convolutional neural network). In the trunk network, the mixed dilated convolution module is employed to extract the features of the original image, and the feature image is constructed into a 3D disparity space volume through depth-separable convolution, after which the initial disparity image can be obtained through 2D encoder–decoder module. In the correction network, the gradient information of the initial feature image is combined to reconstruct the modified matching cost body guided by the initial disparity image and then a smaller encoder–decoder module is trained and processed to make the final result at the sub-pixel level. The algorithm in this paper has been verified in SceneFlow and KITTI 2012/2015 data sets. The method proposed in this article achieves 3.46, 2.12, 1.19, and 0.6 results in the non-occluded area and 4.04, 2.55, 1.58, and 0.7 results in the global area on the Er (> 2 px), Er (> 3 px), Er (> 5 px), and Epe indicators in the KITTI 2012 test set, which are higher than those of the backbone network DispNet. Recent technological developments have enabled computers to identify and categorize facial expressions to determine a person's emotional state in an image or a video. This process, called "Facial Expression Recognition (FER)", has become one of the most popular research areas in computer vision. In recent times, deep FER systems have primarily concentrated on addressing two significant challenges: the problem of overfitting due to limited training data availability, and the presence of expression-unrelated variations, including illumination, head pose, image resolution, and identity bias. In this paper, a comprehensive survey is provided on deep FER, encompassing algorithms and datasets that offer insights into these intrinsic problems. Initially, this paper presents a detailed timeline showcasing the evolution of methods and datasets in deep facial expression recognition (FER). This timeline illustrates the progression and development of the techniques and data resources used in FER. Then, a comprehensive review of FER methods is introduced, including the basic principles of FER (components such as preprocessing, feature extraction and classification, and methods, etc.) from the pro-deep learning era (traditional methods using handcrafted features, i.e., SVM and HOG, etc.) to the deep learning era. Moreover, a brief introduction is provided related to the benchmark datasets (there are two categories: controlled environments (lab) and uncontrolled environments (in the wild)) used to evaluate different FER methods and a comparison of different FER models. Existing deep neural networks and related training strategies designed for FER, based on static images and dynamic image sequences, are discussed. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the utilization of artificial neural networks (ANNs) in learning models that address the nonlinear anisotropic flow and hysteresis retention behavior of deformable porous materials. Herein, the micro‐geometries of various networks of porous Bentheimer Sandstones subjected to several degrees of strain from the literature are considered. For the generation of the database required for the training, validation, and testing of the machine learning (ML) models, single‐phase and biphasic lattice Boltzmann (LB) simulations are performed. The anisotropic nature of the intrinsic permeability is investigated for the single‐phase LB simulations. Thereafter, the database contains the computed average fluid velocities versus the pressure gradients. In this database, the range of applied fluid pressure gradients includes Darcy as well as non‐Darcy flows. The generated output from the single‐phase flow simulations is implemented in a feed‐forward neural network, representing a path‐independent informed graph‐based model. Concerning the two‐phase LB simulations, the Shan‐Chen multiphase LB model is used to generate the retention curves of the cyclic drying/wetting processes in the deformed porous networks. Consequently, two different ML path‐dependent approaches, that is, 1D convolutional neural network and the recurrent neural network, are used to model the biphasic flow through the deformable porous materials. A comparison in terms of accuracy and speed of training between the two approaches is presented. Conclusively, the outcomes of the papers show the capability of the ML models in representing constitutive relations for permeability and hysteretic retention curves accurately and efficiently. The demand of sports video recognition simulation is increasing, but the traditional methods have some limitations in dealing with optical problems. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to improve the effect of image optical processing by using convolutional neural networks. This paper first analyzes the structure of convolutional neural networks commonly used in computer vision applications, and discusses the improved method of convolutional neural networks to better understand and represent human motion in motion videos. Based on the process analysis of sports video recognition results, the concrete steps of image optical processing are completed. The advantages of convolutional neural network in image optical processing are demonstrated by simulation experiments on some sports videos and comparison with traditional methods. The experimental results show that the image optical processing based on convolutional neural network has a high recognition rate and can be used as an effective auxiliary means for sports training. By accurately analyzing and understanding human movements in sports videos, coaches and trainers can provide more effective training programs tailored to the needs of individual athletes. With a large proportion of wind farms connected to the power grid, it brings more pressure on the stable operation of power systems in shorter time scales. Efficient and accurate scheduling, operation control and decision making require high time resolution power forecasting algorithms with higher accuracy and real-time performance. In this paper, we innovatively propose a high temporal resolution wind power forecasting method based on a light convolutional architecture—DC_LCNN. The method starts from the source data and novelly designs the dual-channel data input mode to provide different combinations of feature data for the model, thus improving the upper limit of the learning ability of the whole model. The dual-channel convolutional neural network (CNN) structure extracts different spatial and temporal constraints of the input features. The light global maximum pooling method replaces the flat operation combined with the fully connected (FC) forecasting method in the traditional CNN, extracts the most significant features of the global method, and directly performs data downscaling at the same time, which significantly improves the forecasting accuracy and efficiency of the model. In this paper, the experiments are carried out on the 1 s resolution data of the actual wind field, and the single-step forecasting task with 1 s ahead of time and the multi-step forecasting task with 1~10 s ahead of time are executed, respectively. Comparing the experimental results with the classical deep learning models in the current field, the proposed model shows absolute accuracy advantages on both forecasting tasks. This also shows that the light architecture design based on simple deep learning models is also a good solution in performing high time resolution wind power forecasting tasks. A skeletal pose estimation method, named RVRU-Pose, is proposed to estimate the skeletal pose of vulnerable road users based on distributed non-coherent mmWave radar. In view of the limitation that existing methods for skeletal pose estimation are only applicable to small scenes, this paper proposes a strategy that combines radar intensity heatmaps and coordinate heatmaps as input to a deep learning network. In addition, we design a multi-resolution data augmentation and training method suitable for radar to achieve target pose estimation for remote and multi-target application scenarios. Experimental results show that RVRU-Pose can achieve better than 2 cm average localization accuracy for different subjects in different scenarios, which is superior in terms of accuracy and time compared to existing state-of-the-art methods for human skeletal pose estimation with radar. As an essential performance parameter of radar, the impact of angular resolution on the estimation accuracy of a skeletal pose is quantitatively analyzed and evaluated in this paper. Objectives: The quality of network structure is the key to obtain excellent classification performance. Most of existing deep models are designed by the trial-and-error method. When the same model processes different hyperspectral images (HSIs), different network hyperparameters need to be set artificially to adapt to the data characteristics of different images, greatly increasing the difficulty of network design. Aiming at the problem of deep learning model design in hyperspectral image classification, this paper proposes an automatic network structure search method for HSI classification. Methods: In the proposed method, the differentiable structure search technology is first used to search the network structure on the source HSI data sets, then the deep network model is constructed by stacking cells, and finally the classification performance is evaluated on the target HSIs. It should be pointed out that, the proposed method only conducts one search on the source HSI data sets, and the obtained deep model can be applied to other target HSI classification tasks, which can effectively improve the utilization rate of the model. To improve the generalization ability and classification accuracy of the model, multi-source and multi-resolution HSIs are employed to construct the precollected data set, and the partial channel connection operation is introduced to further improve the search efficiency. Results: Three HSIs inculding Houston, Chikusei and Pavia Center are selected as source data. Four HSIs including University of Pavia, Indian Pines, Salinas and Houston 2018 are selected as the target HSIs. The source data is used to determine the network model and the target HSIs are used to evaluate the classification performance. Experimental results show that the proposed method can automatically search out a universal deep network model suitable for HSI classification task, and this model can achieve better classification performance than the conventional deep learning models. The overall classification accuracies of University of Pavia, Indian Pines, Salinas and Houston 2018 are 98.15%, 98.74%, 97.30% and 74.47%, respectively. Conclusions: Compared with other deep models, the model in this paper is automatically determined by differentiable architecture search algorithm according to the data characteristics of HSIs, effectively improving the classification accuracy of target HSIs while avoiding complex network design. Since the objects in remote sensing images have the characteristics of arbitrary direction, dense distribution and large scale differences, object detection in remote sensing images has become a challenging problem. Aiming at this problem, this paper systematically reviewed the work related to rotating object detection in deep learning remote sensing images in recent three years. Firstly, this paper introduced the representation method and characteristics of rotated bounding box. Then, it analyzed the existing methods of rotating object detection in remote sensing images from four aspects: the feature extraction network, the generation of rotating anchor and candidate bounding box, the label allocation and sampling strategy, and the loss function. Based on optical image enhancement, this paper uses convolutional neural network to detect key points of swimming posture. In swimming posture analysis, key point detection can provide information about posture accuracy and evaluation. However, due to the change of illumination conditions, the reduction of image quality and occlusion, the accuracy and stability of key point detection are limited. In order to solve this problem, an optical image enhancement method based on convolutional neural network is proposed in this paper. First, a specific convolutional neural network architecture is used to extract features from input images. Then optical image enhancement technology is used to preprocess the input image to improve the image quality. Next, the trained convolutional neural network model is used to detect key points. Experimental results show that the proposed method has good performance under different illumination conditions and image quality. The distortion induced by ocean turbulence has a substantial impact on the propagation of light in water, posing challenges for applications including underwater wireless optical communications and submarine surveys. Obtaining accurate information about the properties of oceanic turbulence (OT), particularly the parameters describing OT, is crucial for addressing these challenges and enhancing the performance of such applications. In this paper, we propose a convolutional neural network (CNN) and validate its ability to recognize OT parameters. The physical quantities of oceanic turbulence collectively influence the formation and strength of turbulence. We recognize the dissipation rate of temperature variance χ T and the turbulent kinetic energy dissipation rate ɛ, taking into account various balance parameter ω, transmission distance z. Furthermore, in order to simultaneously recognize χ T and ɛ, we enhanced the existing network by modifying the output structure, resulting in a dual-output architecture that facilitates concurrent classification of both χ T and ɛ. In this paper, a clear underwater image is attained by a fusion process using Transfer Learning (TL). Two images are selected from the underwater colour image dataset and those images are allowed to Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), Tetrolet transform and Saliency maps. Here, the outputs gained from images by the Tetrolet transform are fused and allowed for inverse Tetrolet transform. Moreover, the DWT process done with two images is fused and the output gained is allowed for inverse DWT. Similarly, the same fusion process is carried out with image outputs from Saliency maps. Finally, three image outputs that are considered as input to TL with newly devised optimization. Here, Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) is used with hyperparameters from trained models, such as SqueezeNet and AlexNet, where weights are updated using Adam Based Bald Eagle Algorithm (ABBEA). To recommend useful information to users more efficiently, this paper proposes a dual-path recommendation algorithm which combines multilayer Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and attention-enhanced long short-term memory network (Attention-LSTM). Firstly, the matrix factorisation technique is used for learning the long-term preferences of users. Secondly, a dual-path network based on CNN and LSTM is constructed to perform feature extraction on the rating matrix. Recently, computer vision and artificial intelligence are being used as enabling technologies for plant phenotyping studies, since they allow the analysis of large amounts of data gathered by the sensors. Plant phenotyping studies can be devoted to the evaluation of complex plant traits either on the aerial part of the plant as well as on the underground part, to extract meaningful information about the growth, development, tolerance, or resistance of the plant itself. All plant traits should be evaluated automatically and quantitatively measured in a non-destructive way. This paper describes a novel approach for identifying plant roots from images of the root system architecture using a convolutional neural network (CNN) that operates on small image patches calculating the probability that the center point of the patch is a root pixel. The underlying idea is that the CNN model should embed as much information as possible about the variability of the patches that can show chaotic and heterogeneous backgrounds. Thunderstorm gusts are a common form of severe convective weather in the warm season in North China, and it is of great importance to correctly forecast them. At present, the forecasting of thunderstorm gusts is mainly based on traditional subjective methods, which fails to achieve high-resolution and high-frequency gridded forecasts based on multiple observation sources. In this paper, we propose a deep learning method called Thunderstorm Gusts TransU-net (TG-TransUnet) to forecast thunderstorm gusts in North China based on multi-source gridded product data from the Institute of Urban Meteorology (IUM) with a lead time of 1 to 6 h. To determine the specific range of thunderstorm gusts, we combine three meteorological variables: radar reflectivity factor, lightning location, and 1-h maximum instantaneous wind speed from automatic weather stations (AWSs), and obtain a reasonable ground truth of thunderstorm gusts. Then, we transform the forecasting problem into an image-to-image problem in deep learning under the TG-TransUnet architecture, which is based on convolutional neural networks and a transformer. The analysis and forecast data of the enriched multi-source gridded comprehensive forecasting system for the period 2021–23 are then used as training, validation, and testing datasets. Finally, the performance of TG-TransUnet is compared with other methods. The results show that TG-TransUnet has the best prediction results at 1–6 h. In this paper, a method based on transfer learning is proposed to recover the three-dimensional shape of cultural relics faces from a single old photo. It can simultaneously reconstruct the three-dimensional facial structure and align the texture of the cultural relics with fewer training samples. The UV position map is used to represent the three-dimensional shape in space and act as the output of the network. A convolutional neural network is used to reconstruct the UV position map from a single 2D image. In the training process, the human face data is used for pre-training, and then a small amount of artifact data is used for fine-tuning. A deep learning model with strong generalization ability is trained with fewer artifact data, and a three-dimensional model of the cultural relic face can be reconstructed from a single old photograph. The methods can train more complex deep networks without a large amount of cultural relic data, and no over-fitting phenomenon occurs, which effectively solves the problem of fewer cultural relic samples. The method is verified by restoring a Chinese Terracotta Warrior with facial cracks and a Buddha with a broken nose. Over the past decades, the software industry has expanded to include all industries. Since stakeholders tend to use it to get their work done, software houses seek to estimate the cost of the software, which includes calculating the effort, time, and resources required. Although many researchers have worked to estimate it, the prediction accuracy results are still inaccurate and unstable. Estimating it requires a lot of effort. Therefore, there is an urgent need for modern techniques that contribute to cost estimation. This paper seeks to present a model based on deep learning and machine learning techniques by combining convolutional neural networks (CNN) and the particle swarm algorithm (PSO) in the context of time series forecasting, which enables feature extraction and automatic tuning of hyperparameters, which reduces the manual effort of selecting parameters and contributes to fine-tuning. The use of PSO also enhances the robustness and generalization ability of the CNN model and its iterative nature allows for efficient discovery of hyperparameter similarity. The model was trained and tested on 13 different benchmark datasets and evaluated through six metrics: mean absolute error (MAE), mean square error (MSE), mean magnitude relative error (MMRE), root mean square error (RMSE), median magnitude relative error (MdMRE), and prediction accuracy (PRED). Comparative results reveal that the performance of the proposed model is better than other methods for all datasets and evaluation criteria. The formation dip angle is an important characteristic parameter that reflects underground structures, and it is widely used in seismic exploration and geological interpretation. However, the routine dip angle calculation method suffers from the problems of artifact interference and insufficient accuracy, which restricts the development of fine exploration technology. More accurately obtaining the formation dip angle has become a general concern. To solve these problems, this paper proposes a method for calculating the formation dip angle using deep learning. The dip angle calculation is considered a regression problem. By establishing a database of synthetic seismic data and dip data tags, data-driven fitting of nonlinear functional relationships between the seismic data and dip angles are achieved, and intelligent dip calculations are realized. The method is verified using the synthetic sedimentary model and actual data and is compared with the mainstream dip angle calculation method in the industry. In recent years, Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) models have demonstrated notable advancements in various domains such as image classification and Natural Language Processing (NLP). Despite their success in image classification tasks, their potential impact on medical image retrieval, particularly in text-based medical image retrieval (TBMIR) tasks, has not yet been fully realized. This could be attributed to the complexity of the ranking process, as there is ambiguity in treating TBMIR as an image retrieval task rather than a traditional information retrieval or NLP task. To address this gap, our paper proposes a novel approach to re-ranking medical images using a Deep Matching Model (DMM) and Medical-Dependent Features (MDF). These features incorporate categorical attributes such as medical terminologies and imaging modalities. Specifically, our DMM aims to generate effective representations for query and image metadata using a personalized CNN, facilitating matching between these representations. By using MDF, a semantic similarity matrix based on Unified Medical Language System (UMLS) meta-thesaurus, and a set of personalized filters taking into account some ranking features, our deep matching model can effectively consider the TBMIR task as an image retrieval task, as previously mentioned. To evaluate our approach, we performed experiments on the medical ImageCLEF datasets from 2009 to 2012. Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium. It primarily impacts the lungs but can also endanger other organs, such as the renal system, spine, and brain. When an infected individual sneezes, coughs, or speaks, the virus can spread through the air, which contributes to its high contagiousness. The goal is to enhance detection recognition with an X-ray image dataset. This paper proposed a novel approach, named the Tuberculosis Segmentation-Guided Diagnosis Model (TSSG-CNN) for Detecting Tuberculosis, using a combined semantic segmentation and adaptive convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture. The proposed approach is distinguished from most of the previously proposed approaches in that it uses the combination of a deep learning segmentation model with a follow-up classification model based on CNN layers to segment chest X-ray images more precisely as well as to improve the diagnosis of TB. It contrasts with other approaches like ILCM, which is optimized for sequential learning, and explainable AI approaches, which focus on explanations. Moreover, our model is beneficial for the simplified procedure of feature optimization from the perspectives of approach using the Mayfly Algorithm (MA). Other models, including simple CNN, Batch Normalized CNN (BN-CNN), and Dense CNN (DCNN), are also evaluated on this dataset to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. The performance of the TSSG-CNN model outperformed all the models with an impressive accuracy of 98.75% and an F1 score of 98.70%. With the massive amount of data available on the Internet, many users face problems when they need access to the information and goods they need. Adapting information to user needs has become a complex and time-consuming process. Recommender systems are powerful tools for guiding users in electronic settings to information, services, and goods of interest. With the ability to identify users and predict their preferences, recommender systems can extract information likely to be of interest to users from vast amounts of data and save time and energy by providing them with relevant recommendations. Therefore, in this paper, a framework for a recommender system is proposed, which consists of four main phases. In the first phase, the preprocessing operation is performed. The purpose of this phase is to create an ontology model for products based on the convolutional neural network method. Data collection operations are carried out in the second phase. The purpose of this phase is to receive and store user information based on behavior and different criteria. The third phase is related to creating an ontology. The purpose of this phase is to create an ontology model for user behavior using OWL libraries. Finally, in the last phase, finding similarities and presented a proposal. The purpose of this phase is the necessary calculations of the proposed framework in the similarity finding section using ontology models. Simulation results show that the proposed framework measures MAE (more than 10 and 15%), RMSE (more than 12 and 16%), precision (less than 10 and 13%), recall (more than 25 and 28%), F1-score (higher than 25 and 30%) and Score of User (higher than 15 and 17%) outperform two related approaches, namely CF and CF+ Ontology, respectively. This paper presents a feature fusion and sparse transformer-based anomalous traffic detection system (FSTDS). FSTDS utilizes a feature fusion network to encode the traffic data sequences and extracting features, fusing them into coding vectors through shallow and deep convolutional networks, followed by deep coding using a sparse transformer to capture the complex relationships between network flows; finally, a multilayer perceptron is used to classify the traffic and achieve anomaly traffic detection. The feature fusion network of FSTDS improves feature extraction from small sample data, the deep encoder enhances the understanding of complex traffic patterns, and the sparse transformer reduces the computational and storage overhead and improves the scalability of the model. In the bridge structure, the main bearing element is the spans, which are directly subject to random and continuous loads, environmental influences, ageing, etc. These factors are easy to lead to material deterioration. Therefore, this study proposes a novel approach to investigate the mechanical properties of the material. The span of the bridge is the selected structure for investigation. This study focuses on the general evaluation of mechanical factors consistent with reality, so the following main factors are to be carried out. First, the viscoelastic model of material will be applied to set up and solve the governing differential equation of the beams with material characteristics involving the elastic modulus (E) and the viscous coefficient (C). The viscoelastic model is different from the traditional elastic model due to its non-linearity, reflecting the actual state of the structure. Second, the random vibration signal-based Loss Factor function (LF) calculation using the Power Spectral Density (PSD) to detect changes in structures. LF is a feature representing changes in material properties, including elasticity and viscosity, and is suitable for many types of bridge structures. Also, the paper uses Cubic Interpolation (CI) to generate a surface representing the LF distribution. This interpolation results in surfaces with respect to the LF values distributed by frequencies and spectral amplitudes. Finally, the LF distribution-based material investigation using Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) is proposed with high performance and accuracy. Partial discharge (PD) is a crucial and intricate electrical occurrence observed in various types of electrical equipment. Identifying and characterizing PDs is essential for upholding the integrity and reliability of electrical assets. This paper proposes an ensemble methodology aiming to strike a balance between the model complexity and the predictive performance in PD pattern recognition. A simple convolutional neural network (SCNN) was constructed to efficiently decrease the model parameters (quantities). A quadratic support vector machine (QSVM) was established and ensembled with the SCNN model to effectively improve the PD recognition accuracy. The input for QSVM consisted of the circular local binary pattern (CLBP) extracted from the enhanced image. A testing prototype with three types of PD was constructed and 3D phase-resolved pulse sequence (PRPS) spectrograms were measured and recorded by ultra-high frequency (UHF) sensors. When gathering optical satellite pictures, light reflected from the surface due to water vapor, snow, fog, haze, and more tiny particles in the environment is generally seen as a gap in the propagation process. Haze has a greater number of suspended particles like aerosols and water droplets. These particles have absorption effects and scattering in the light. Although haze translucency grants a chance for image restoration, a well-organized and broadly relevant haze removal procedure for holding several hazes is quite an extensive provocation. To address this issue, this paper proposed an Optimal Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (OCLAHE) to capture further intricate features and patterns connected to haze, enabling more accurate haze detection and removal. The deeper network can learn complicated descriptions and recognize between hazy and nonhazy regions with higher precision. The proposed method is validated in I-Haze and O-Haze datasets, and its performance is quantified by various performance metrics such as MSE, SSIM, PSNR, WPSNR, and Running time. Timely and effective fault diagnosis is crucial to guarantee the reliability and durability of proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). Segmented cell technology has been proven to be a powerful tool for exploring the internal characteristics of fuel cells, yet it is seldom applied for fault diagnosis. This paper proposes a data-driven fault diagnosis method that combines segmented cell and deep learning technology for PEMFC water management fault diagnosis. The dynamic characteristics of the current distribution of the fuel cell under different levels of faults are explored with segmented cell technology. A dual-input convolutional neural network is applied to combine current distribution data and sensor data for a more comprehensive system status for fault diagnosis. The results show that the model can efficiently identify flooding and drying faults with more than 98.5% accuracy, faster and more accurately than other algorithms. The large number of near-Earth asteroids (NEAs) has greatly impacted human space activities and Earth security. However, detecting NEAs in astronomical images with complex, varying backgrounds is still extremely challenging. In this paper, we propose a deep segmentation assisted asteroid tracking algorithm, termed DSAT, to construct a possible pipeline for faint NEA tracking in astronomical images. First, the single-frame object detection problem is converted to a segmentation problem, enabling robust extraction of faint potential moving objects. Then, a multiframe motion prior-based moving object tracking algorithm is proposed to find real NEAs. We further propose a distance tolerance criterion to help DSAT achieve effective tracking in practical situations when detection has partially failed. Finally, the pipeline is tested with both simulated and real astronomical images at different SNRs and in crowded fields. This paper proposes two efficient approximation methods to solve high-dimensional fully nonlinear partial differential equations (NPDEs) and second-order backward stochastic differential equations (2BSDEs), where such high-dimensional fully NPDEs are extremely difficult to solve because the computational cost of standard approximation methods grows exponentially with the number of dimensions. Therefore, we consider the following methods to overcome this difficulty. For the merged fully NPDEs and 2BSDEs system, combined with the time forward discretization and ReLU function, we use multiscale deep learning fusion and convolutional neural network (CNN) techniques to obtain two numerical approximation schemes, respectively. Finally, three practical high-dimensional test problems involving Allen-Cahn, Black-Scholes-Barenblatt, and Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations are given so that the first proposed method exhibits higher efficiency and accuracy than the existing method, while the second proposed method can extend the dimensionality of the completely NPDEs-2BSDEs system over 400 dimensions, from which the numerical results highlight the effectiveness of proposed methods. In this paper, a novel data transmission scheme, interference perceptual multi-modulation (IP-MM), is proposed for full-duplex (FD) systems. In order to unlink the conventional uplink (UL) data transmission using a single modulation and coding scheme (MCS) over the entire assigned UL bandwidth, IP-MM enables the transmission of UL data channels based on multiple MCS levels, where a different MCS level is applied to each subband of UL transmission. In IP-MM, a deep convolutional neural network is used for MCS-level prediction for each UL subband by estimating the potential residual self-interference (SI) according to the downlink (DL) resource allocation pattern. In addition, a subband-based UL transmission procedure is introduced from a specification point of view to enable IP-MM-based UL transmission. The benefits of IP-MM are verified using simulations, and it is observed that IP-MM achieves approximately 20 % throughput gain compared to the conventional UL transmission scheme. The fast scenario transfer for portrait styles has been a universal concern in the area of image processing. Conventionally, it was realized mostly by manual manipulation based on expertise experience, which costs a large amount of human labor. To fit the growing business volume in the era of Internet 4.0, it is supposed to investigate reliable autonomous workflow that generates portrait-style results via intelligent algorithms. Therefore, this paper proposes a fast scenario transfer method for portrait styles through collaborative awareness of convolutional neural network (CNN) and generative learning (GAL). On the one hand, a CNN structure is designed to make feature extraction towards the initial images, which can be used for following image generation. On the other hand, the GAL is utilized to generate new images with post-transferred scenario styles, so that the expected scenario style transfer results can be output by generating new images through long-term iterations. Especially, the loss function is designed by simultaneously considering local and global characteristics. Finally, the analysis and experimental results show that the correction process can be completed by injecting the extracted input face features into the feature maps of corresponding sizes in the generation process using a pre-trained feature extractor. Preprocessing plays a key role in Raman spectral analysis. However, classical preprocessing algorithms often have issues with reducing Raman peak intensities and changing the peak shape when processing spectra. This paper introduces a unified solution for preprocessing based on a convolutional autoencoder to enhance Raman spectroscopy data. One is a denoising algorithm that uses a convolutional denoising autoencoder (CDAE model), and the other is a baseline correction algorithm based on a convolutional autoencoder (CAE+ model). The CDAE model incorporates two additional convolutional layers in its bottleneck layer for enhanced noise reduction. The CAE+ model not only adds convolutional layers at the bottleneck but also includes a comparison function after the decoding for effective baseline correction. The proposed models were validated using both simulated spectra and experimental spectra measured with a Raman spectrometer system. Comparing their performance with that of traditional signal processing techniques, the results of the CDAE-CAE+ model show improvements in noise reduction and Raman peak preservation. Deformable medical image registration is a fundamental and critical task in medical image analysis. Recently, deep learning-based methods have rapidly developed and have shown impressive results in deformable image registration. However, existing approaches still suffer from limitations in registration accuracy or generalization performance. To address these challenges, in this paper, we propose a pure convolutional neural network module (CVTF) to implement hierarchical transformers and enhance the registration performance of medical images. CVTF has a larger convolutional kernel, providing a larger global effective receptive field, which can improve the network's ability to capture long-range dependencies. In addition, we introduce the spatial interaction attention (SIA) module to compute the interrelationship between the target feature pixel points and all other points in the feature map. This helps to improve the semantic understanding of the model by emphasizing important features and suppressing irrelevant ones. Based on the proposed CVTF and SIA, we construct a novel registration framework named PCTNet. We applied PCTNet to generate displacement fields and register medical images, and we conducted extensive experiments and validation on two public datasets, OASIS and LPBA40. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and generality of our method, showing significant improvements in registration accuracy and generalization performance compared to existing methods. Spatiotemporal fusion can provide remote sensing images with both high temporal and high spatial resolution for earth observation applications. Most of the state-of-the-art models require three or even five images as input, which may lead to difficulties in practical applications due to bad weather or data missing. In this paper, the enhanced cross-paired wavelet based spatiotemporal fusion networks (ECPW-STFN) are proposed to improve the accuracy and quality of the fusions with fewer remote sensing images as inputs. Wavelet transform is introduced into spatiotemporal image fusion to achieve separate training of the high and low frequency components of the image to better extract features of different levels. In addition, a compound loss function containing wavelet loss is proposed to facilitate the preservation of details. Also, an enhancement module with convolutional block attention is put forward to further refine the prediction quality. Experiments were conducted to compare the proposed ECPW-STFN with five state-of-the-art methods on the public CIA and Daxing datasets. The results show ECPW-STFN is better than GAN-STFM which also requires two images, and not inferior to the methods requiring at least three inputs, even exceeds the optimal MLFF-GAN in some cases, proving its great superiority and potential. Assessing the strength of complex networks is crucial for evaluating their functionality and monitoring system security. Two primary perspectives for measuring network robustness are connectivity and controllability, which quantify how well a network maintains connectivity and controllability after experiencing complete attacks. However, conventional robustness calculation methods that use simulation attacks can be impractical for large-scale networks. Recent research has explored the use of deep learning methods for network robustness prediction, including PCR (short for predictor of controllability robustness), which uses a VGG (short for visual geometry group)-based convolutional neural network (CNN) and a linear filter. However, PCR has limitations, including inaccurate edge importance differentiation and fluctuating output curves. This paper presents ATTRP, an attention-based robustness predictor, which addresses these limitations. ATTRP uses a novel convolutional neural network with channel and spatial attention mechanisms to improve prediction accuracy and a robustness filter based on Savitzky–Golay smoothing to rectify the robustness curve. Experimental studies demonstrate that ATTRP outperforms other predictors, with much lower errors, while its computational speed is far superior to that of traditional attacking simulation. Development of a reliable and intelligent traffic monitoring system is highly desired to improve the transportation safety and establish future transportation plans due to the fast growth of vehicle population. Vehicle classification is one of the most critical subsystems where existing ones suffer from privacy concerns, requirements of complicated systems, and high maintenance cost. This paper reports a novel vehicle classification method by utilizing a triboelectric sensor to accurately identify vehicles. Novelty of this method originates from using triboelectric sensor and machine learning method with important advantages over current alternatives by providing an easy installation, simple operation, noninvasive measurement, cost-effective manufacturing, and highly accurate classification. To make a classification, vehicle toys' signals were acquired from triboelectric sensor and then applied to a deep learning algorithm. The 1932 sensor output data were grouped into a set of seven vehicle toys with different wheelbases, and number of tires passing on are used to train and optimize 1D-CNN model. The utilized 1D-CNN model achieved accuracy, f1-score, precision, and recall as 96.38%, 0.9638, 0.9658, and 0.9637, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
