In the game of rock-paper-scissors with three players, this paper identifies conditions for a correlated equilibrium that differs from the mixed strategy Nash equilibrium and is evolutionarily stable. For this to occur, the correlation device attaches more probability to three-way ties and solo-winner outcomes than would result from the Nash equilibrium. The correlated equilibrium is evolutionarily stable because any mutant fares worse than a signal-following player when facing two players who follow their own correlated signals. The critical quality of the correlation device is to make this true both for potential mutants who would disobey their signal and instead choose the action which would beat the action signaled to the player, as well as for potential mutants who would deviate to the action that would be beaten by what the device signals to the player. These findings reveal how a strict correlated equilibrium can produce evolutionarily stable strategies for rock-paper-scissors with three players.

Thus, an important sector for connecting the collection and waste paper recycling echelons is the intermediate center. In this study, a Mixed Integer Linear Programming model, which is multi-objective, multi-product, multi-level and multi-period, was developed to optimize the waste paper logistics processes of intermediate centers. The formulation includes the following echelons: collection, considering vehicle routing with different capacities; inventory of non-baling materials; baling sorted waste and inventory of bales; selling bales; disposal of non-recyclable waste. The aims of the model include: maximizing the collected waste; minimizing distances; maximizing both the production and sale of bales, and minimizing costs. According to research carried out in the literature, the developed model is a new proposal and to implement it, the Weighted Goal Programming and Revised Multi-Choice Goal Programming approaches were used to deal with multiple objectives and incorporate uncertainty into the quantity of waste available for collection. To analyze the proposed model, computational tests were executed with instances based on real data from a Brazilian company in the sector. For all performed tests, General Algebraic Modeling System 23.6.5 modeling language and CPLEX 12.2.0.2 solver were used for modeling and optimization. The results show that this study presents formulation and technological approaches that represent real situations and provide competitive solutions to the problem. The degradation of paper is due to complex physical and chemical processes that occur as the paper ages, and is enhanced by environmental factors, such as the temperature and relative humidity, and by intrinsic parameters, such as the acidity of the paper. The literature reports that a large percentage of historic documents, manuscripts, and paper objects in museums, libraries and collections is susceptible to degradation phenomena, which may ultimately affect their integrity and longevity. This contribution presents a novel computational model to predict the degradation and lifetime of historic paper. The approach is based on: i) a multi-physics modelling framework, which considers the relevant chemical and mechanical degradation processes and the influence by the ambient environmental conditions, and ii) a multi-scale description, which includes the effect of the intrinsic hierarchical structure of paper, from the fibre- and fibrous network levels to the effective macro-scale, paper sheet level. The paper fibres constructing the fibrous network are characterized by an age-dependent, chemo-mechanical constitutive behaviour. In particular, an evolution equation describes the reduction of the degree of polymerization of cellulose as a function of time and the specific environmental conditions, which in turn is used for determining the fibre tensile strength. The fibre stresses induced by hygro-expansion and hygro-contraction under a change in relative humidity are computed using a coupled hygro-mechanical model, and lead to brittle damage once the fibre tensile strength is reached. Accordingly, the chemical degradation of individual fibres affects the local damage development and stress distribution in the fibrous network, and thereby governs the material response at the paper sheet scale. Asymptotic homogenization is used to calculate the effective hygro-mechanical properties of the fibrous network. A set of numerical simulations is performed to predict the time-dependent degradation of historic paper under a range of temperature, relative humidity and acidity conditions. From these results, isochrone degradation maps are constructed that illustrate the expected lifetime of historic paper as a function of the ambient climate conditions and the acidity of the paper. Further, a practical, analytical degradation function is derived that can be used for a fast estimation of the time-dependent stiffness degradation of paper. The outcome of this work may help conservators to determine the optimal indoor climate conditions in museums, archives and libraries for limiting or delaying time-dependent degradation of historic paper artefacts.

This work describes the log-MAP (BCJR) algorithm implementation of a close to capacity dirty paper coding CODEC. The CODEC consists of eight deep pipeline processors. It decodes blocks of 975 bits in 26.9 ms using less than 9.7% of low-cost FPGA (and no DSP blocks). Two pipelines, for alpha and beta, calculate the values of gamma (of the BCJR) to reduce the storage requirements. The final log-likelihood ratio (LLR) is calculated together with alpha, reusing intermediate results. The number of bits used by the different signals of the processor is easily configurable. It was set to six bits to the channel measure signals and eight bits to log of probability signals like alpha, beta, and others. The CODEC clock was 100 MHz. The achieved bit rate is 36.2 Kbps per CODEC, but multiple CODECs can be fit into a single chip. The CODEC is 3.49 dB from the channel capacity.

Using similarity software to examine the quality of scientific papers is a nuisance. The significance of a scientific paper should be decided by the acknowledged experts. The practice of using the computer program to decide scientific papers must be rescinded or voided.

In simple dyadic games such as rock, paper, scissors (RPS), people exhibit peculiar sequential dependencies across repeated interactions with a stable opponent. These regularities seem to arise from a mutually adversarial process of trying to outwit their opponent. What underlies this process, and what are its limits? Here, we offer a novel framework for formally describing and quantifying human adversarial reasoning in the rock, paper, scissors game. We first show that this framework enables a precise characterization of the complexity of patterned behaviors that people exhibit themselves, and appear to exploit in others. This combination allows for a quantitative understanding of human opponent modeling abilities. We apply these tools to an experiment in which people played 300 rounds of RPS in stable dyads. We find that although people exhibit very complex move dependencies, they cannot exploit these dependencies in their opponents, indicating a fundamental limitation in people’s capacity for adversarial reasoning. Taken together, the results presented here show how the rock, paper, scissors game allows for precise formalization of human adaptive reasoning abilities.

We run stochastic simulations of the spatial version of the rock-paper-scissors game, considering that individuals use sensory abilities to scan the environment to detect the presence of enemies. If the local dangerousness level is above a tolerable threshold, individuals aggregate instead of moving randomly on the lattice. We study the impact of the locally adaptive aggregation on the organisms' spatial organisation by measuring the characteristic length scale of the spatial domains occupied by organisms of a single species. Our results reveal that aggregation is beneficial if triggered when the local density of opponents does not exceed $30\%$; otherwise, the behavioural strategy may harm individuals by increasing the average death risk. We show that if organisms can perceive further distances, they can accurately scan and interpret the signals from the neighbourhood, maximising the effects of the locally adaptive aggregation on the death risk. Finally, we show that the locally adaptive aggregation behaviour promotes biodiversity independently of the organism's mobility. The coexistence probability rises if organisms join conspecifics, even in the presence of a small number of enemies. We verify that our conclusions hold for more complex systems by simulating the generalised rock-paper-scissors models with five and seven species. We study generalised rock-paper-scissors models with an arbitrary odd number N \geq 5 of species, among which n are weak, with 2 \leq n \leq (N-1)/2. Because of the species' weakness, the probability of individuals conquering territory in the cyclic spatial game is low. Running stochastic simulations, we study the role of unevenness in the rock-paper-scissors game in spatial patterns and population dynamics, considering diverse models where the weak species are in different positions in the cyclic game order. Studying systems with five and seven species, we discover that the individuals' spatial organisation arising from the pattern formation process determines the stability of the cyclic game with multiple weak species. Our outcomes show that the presence of species unbalances the spatial distribution of organisms of the same species bringing consequences on territorial dominance, with the predominant species being determined by the position in the cyclic game order. Our simulations elucidate that, in general, the further apart the regions inhabited by different weak species are, the less the coexistence between the species is jeopardised. We show that if multiple weak species occupy adjacent spatial domains, the unevenness in the cyclic game is reinforced, maximising the chances of biodiversity loss. This research studied the strategies that players use in sequential adversarial games. We took the Rock-Paper-Scissors (RPS) game as an example and ran players in two experiments. The first experiment involved two humans, who played the RPS together for 100 times. Importantly, our payoff design in the RPS allowed us to differentiate between participants who used a random strategy from those who used a Nash strategy. We found that participants did not play in agreement with the Nash strategy, but rather, their behavior was closer to random. Moreover, the analyses of the participants’ sequential actions indicated heterogeneous cycle-based behaviors: some participants’ actions were independent of their past outcomes, some followed a well-known win-stay/lose-change strategy, and others exhibited the win-change/lose-stay behavior. To understand the sequential patterns of outcome-dependent actions, we designed probabilistic computer algorithms involving specific change actions (i.e., to downgrade or upgrade according to the immediate past outcome): the Win-Downgrade/Lose-Stay (WDLS) or Win-Stay/Lose-Upgrade (WSLU) strategies. Experiment 2 used these strategies against a human player. Our findings show that participants followed a win-stay strategy against the WDLS algorithm and a lose-change strategy against the WSLU algorithm, while they had difficulty in using an upgrade/downgrade direction, suggesting humans’ limited ability to detect and counter the actions of the algorithm. Taken together, our two experiments showed a large diversity of sequential strategies, where the win-stay/lose-change strategy did not describe the majority of human players’ dynamic behaviors in this adversarial situation.

We have studied the surface structure of tamper-proof paper with positive and negative watermarks at different scales ‒ from a micrometer to a nanometer level, by using the methods of contact profilometry and atomic force microscopy. Experimental research has confirmed that the structural parameters of the tamper-proof paper's surface differ at regions with and without watermarks. The results of measurements by a contact profilometer have made it possible to trace a correlation between values of the profile's mean arithmetic deviation and the presence of watermarks. It was determined that the value for the profile's largest height does not depend on a measurement region, which could be related to the chaotic arrangement of fibers and particles of the filler in the paper bulk that protrude above the profile's line. By analyzing the value of the profile's mean arithmetic deviation obtained by using a method of atomic-force microscopy, it was found that for regions with negative watermarks it is larger than that for regions with positive watermarks. The dependence of the profile's largest height on measurement region is not clearly observed. This may be due to that the size of the examined region (3,000×3,000 nm) covers only part of the pulp fibers. Thus, the results of our analysis allow us to argue that both methods are suitable for estimating the characteristics of paper's surface, and determine the character of interaction between a given type of paper and printing inks during printing process. In particular, it has been established that the method of profilometry makes it possible to determine parameters of the paper's surface profile, formed in a certain way, while the atomic force microscopy method allows analysis of the morphology of its components, located at the surface (fibers, filler's particles, etc.). The availability of information on the structural properties of paper makes it possible to predict the quality of printing reproduction, specifically clearness of reproduction of thin guilloche lines on watermarks, which is relevant because it prevents flaws in printing products for special purposes.

NiCoS has good conductivity, and the sulfur it contains is known to improve the activity for hydrogen evolution reaction. Thus NiCoS has recently attracted much attention as a catalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction catalyst in neutral-pH water electrolysis. In this study, NiCoS was fabricated using pulse electrodeposition method and the effect of off time on the composition, morphology, and hydrogen evolution reaction activity was investigated. The physical and chemical characteristics of the catalyst were analyzed using field emission scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, etc. It was observed that the surface area of NiCoS, the sulfur content, and hydrogen evolution reaction activity of NiCoS increased together as the off time increased at a constant on time. The NiCoS with the highest sulfur content, produced by pulse electrodeposition, showed overpotentials of 262 and 285 mV to deliver current densities of 10, 50 mA/cm2, respectively, in the neutral pH region.

A classical result of K. L. Chung and W. Feller deals with the partial sums S k S_k arising in a fair coin-tossing game. If N n N_n is the number of “positive” terms among S 1 S_1 , S 2 S_2 , …, S n S_n then the quantity P ( N 2 n = 2 r ) P(N_{2n} = 2r) takes an elegant form. We lift the restriction on an even number of tosses and give a simple expression for P ( N 2 n + 1 = r ) P(N_{2n+1} = r) , r = 0 r = 0 , 1 1 , 2 2 , …, 2 n + 1 2n+1 . We get to this ansatz by adaptating the Feynman–Kac methodology.

Cellulose fibers come in a wide range of shapes and sizes. The heterogeneity of the fiber length, width, wall thickness, curl and external fibrillation is detrimental to the mechanical performance of products such as paper and paperboard. Although micro-mechanical models of these materials sometimes incorporate features of this heterogeneity, so far there is no standardized method of fully incorporating this. We examine a large number of industrial mechanical fiber pulps to determine what information such a standardized method would have to have. We find that the method must allow for both non-Gaussian distributions and dependence between the variables. We present a method of characterizing mechanical pulp under these conditions that views the individual fiber as outcome of a sampling process from a multivariate distribution function. The method is generally applicable to any dataset, even a non-Gaussian one with dependencies. Using a micro-mechanical model of a paper sheet the proposed method is compared with previously presented methods to study whether incorporating both a varying fiber size and dependencies is necessary to match the response of a sheet modeled with measured characterization data. The results demonstrate that micro-mechanical models of paper and paperboard should not neglect the influence of the dependence between the characteristic shape features of the fibers if the model is meant to match physical experiments. © 2022 The Authors

Paper-cut elements in the design of boat space can effectively improve the homogenisation tendency of existing boat space design, effectively enhance the characteristics of traditional Chinese culture and enrich the development ideas of boat space design. Therefore, based on the Chinese folk art of paper cutting, this paper combines theoretical analysis and empirical research to deeply analyse the artistic expression of paper-cut elements in the spatial design of boats. This paper mainly studies the artistic integration of paper-cut elements in the decorative design of boats and the artistic integration of paper-cut elements in the practical design of boats. Through the calculation and analysis of the sparse autoencoder algorithm model, it can be seen that the decorative integration of paper-cut elements in wallpaper is 82%, which is higher than that of traditional materials (24%). The integration of paper-cut elements in the space design of cabins and guest rooms is as high as 97% and 94%, respectively, which is far better than the integration of traditional materials in the space design of cabins and guest rooms. This shows that the application of folk paper-cut elements to the space design of boats not only highlights the theme of boats but also enhances the cultural value of boats.

One of the pandemics that have caused many deaths is the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). It first appeared in late 2019, and many deaths are increasing day by day until now. Therefore, the early diagnosis of COVID-19 has become a salient issue. Additionally, the current diagnosis methods have several demerits, and a new investigation is required to enhance the diagnosis performance. In this paper, a set of phases are performed, such as collecting data, filtering and augmenting images, extracting features, and classifying ECG images. The data were obtained from two publicly available ECG image datasets, and one of them contained COVID ECG reports. A set of preprocessing methods are applied to the ECG images, and data augmentation is performed to balance the ECG images based on the classes. A deep learning approach based on a convolutional neural network (CNN) is performed for feature extraction. Four different pre-trained models are applied, such as Vgg16, Vgg19, ResNet-101, and Xception. Moreover, an ensemble of Xception and the temporary convolutional network (TCN), which is named ECGConvnet, is proposed. Finally, the results obtained from the former models are fed to four main classifiers. These classifiers are softmax, random forest (RF), multilayer perception (MLP), and support vector machine (SVM). The former classifiers are used to evaluate the diagnosis ability of the proposed methods. The classification scenario is based on fivefold cross-validation. Seven experiments are presented to evaluate the performance of the ECGConvnet. Three of them are multi-class, and the remaining are binary class diagnosing. Six out of seven experiments diagnose COVID-19 patients. The aforementioned experimental results indicated that ECGConvnet has the highest performance over other pre-trained models, and the SVM classifier showed higher accuracy in comparison with the other classifiers. The resulting accuracies from ECGConvnet based on SVM are (99.74%, 98.6%, 99.1% on the multi-class diagnosis tasks) and (99.8% on one of the binary-class diagnoses, while the remaining achieved 100%). It is possible to develop an automatic diagnosis system for COVID based on deep learning using ECG data.

The well-known game of Rock--Paper--Scissors can be used as a simple model of competition between three species. When modelled in continuous time using differential equations, the resulting system contains a heteroclinic cycle between the three equilibrium solutions representing the existence of only a single species. The game can be extended in a symmetric fashion by the addition of two further strategies (`Lizard' and `Spock'): now each strategy is dominant over two of the remaining four strategies, and is dominated by the remaining two. The differential equation model contains a set of coupled heteroclinic cycles forming a heteroclinic network. In this paper we carefully consider the dynamics near this heteroclinic network. We are able to identify regions of parameter space in which arbitrarily long periodic sequences of visits are made to the neighbourhoods of the equilibria, which form a complicated pattern in parameter space., Submitted to Nonlinearity

Aiming at the problem of easy tampering and difficult integrity authentication of paper text documents, this paper proposes a robust content authentication method for printed documents based on text watermarking scheme resisting print-and-scan attack. Firstly, an authentication watermark signal sequence related to content of text document is generated based on the Logistic chaotic map model; then, the authentication watermark signal sequence is embedded into printed paper document by using a robust text watermarking scheme; finally, the watermark information is extracted from scanned image of paper document, and compared with the authentication watermark information calculated in real time by the text document content obtained by OCR technology, thereby performing content integrity authentication of the paper text documents. Experimental results show that our method can achieve the robust content integrity authentication of paper text documents, and can also accurately locate the tampering position. In addition, the document after embedding the watermark information has a good visual effect, and the text watermarking scheme has a large information capacity.

Urinary Schistosomiasis is neglected tropical disease (NTDs) caused by the trematode, Schistosoma haematobium. This Study was designed to comparatively observe the use of Combi 10 and filter paper in the diagnosis of Schistosoma hameatobium, and to determine the prevalence and intensity of the Infection among Primary School Pupils in Makurdi Metropolis. A survey involving 202 pupils from four different primary schools within the Makurdi Metropolis was conducted. Urine samples were collected from pupils between the ages 5 to 19 and examined for hematuria and Ova of Schistosoma haematobium using Medi Test Combi 10 and Polycarbonate Filters in Urine Syringe Filtration Technique (USFT) respectively. The prevalence of Schistosoma haematobium based on microscopic examination of Filter papers was 25.7% while prevalence of Hematuria was 35%. Prevalence of Proteinuria was observed to be 50% Infection Intensity varied from Light to heavy. In general infection was higher among males (26.3%) than females (25.8%; P>0.05) although statistically non-significant. The age specific prevalence ranged from 11.1% to 40% in 5-9 years and 15-19 years respectively (P >0.05), and showed no significant difference. There was also a strong positive correlation between the use Medi-test Combi 10 reagent strips and Poly membrane Filtration technique. A total of 111 urine samples were positive to haematuria using combi 10 while only 52 urine samples were positive to S. haematobium using poly membrane filter paper, hence correlation is significant at 0.05 level. The above finding shows that S. haematobiumis prevalent among primary school pupils and the use of Combi 10 and Filter paper are both diagnostic tools that can be used in S. haematobium diagnosis. They can both ascertain the prevalence of the disease will provide a guide for the treatment and eradicating of the infection. Hence, decisive control measures including administration of praziquantel to pupils are needed.

Sandwich panels with honeycomb filler based on polymer paper "Nomex" is widely used in crucial structures for various purposes. In the process of manufacturing such panels, some factors of the technological process, such as the application of the binder on a honeycomb filler, the temperature modes of drying and polymerization of the applied layer, most significantly affect physical-mechanical characteristics of finished products. A specific factor of production of a honeycomb filler from polymer paper is its multi-stage impregnation with the dressing composition, and then by the binder during the final operations with subsequent drying and heat treatment of the honeycomb units. These operations result into non-uniform heat and mass transfer (migration) of the binder from the central part of the panel to its peripheral end areas. The regularities of this non-uniform heat and mass transfer of the binder along the length of a honeycomb channel were explored. It was shown that these phenomena are conditioned by hydrodynamic motion of the binder, caused by temperature gradient, its density and surface tension coefficient. Based on this, we designed the method for determining the thickness of the binder layer along honeycomb channels at the known (assigned) law of the change in density and surface tension along the length of the cell of a honeycomb filler. The method makes it possible to reduce the non-uniformity of mass transfer by technological means, ensuring the necessary tolerance for physical-mechanical characteristics of honeycomb fillers from polymer paper. The problem of mass transfer enabled deeper revealing the mechanisms of the formation of the non-uniform impregnation layer at the stages of the drying process during the production of a honeycomb filler from polymer paper. Using the obtained mechanisms and technological possibilities of the regulation of characteristics of binders, it is possible to improve the non-uniformity of the layer thickness along the honeycomb channels to the values that ensure the necessary tolerance for physical-mechanical characteristics of a honeycomb filler, Сендвічеві панелі зі стільниковим заповнювачем на основі полімерного паперу «Nomex» широко використовуються у відповідальних конструкціях різноманітного призначення. Показано, що ці явища обумовлені гідродинамічним рухом зв’язуючого, що викликані градієнтами температури, його густини та коефіцієнта поверхневого натяжіння. На основі цього розроблено метод визначення товщини шару зв’язуючого уздовж каналів стільників при відомих (заданих) законах зміни густини та поверхневого натяжіння уздовж довжини чарунки стільникового заповнювача. Метод дозволяє технологічними засобами знизити нерівномірність масопереносу, забезпечивши потрібний допуск на фізико-механічні характеристики стільникових заповнювачів з полімерного паперу. Розглянута задача масопереносу дозволила глибше розкрити механізми формування нерівномірного шару просочення на етапах процесу сушіння при виробництві стільникового заповнювача з полімерного паперу. Використовуючи отримані механізми і технологічні можливості регулювання характеристик зв’язуючих, можливо поліпшити рівномірність товщини шару уздовж каналів стільників до значень, які забезпечать потрібний допуск на фізико-механічні характеристики стільникового заповнювачаСендвічеві панелі зі стільниковим заповнювачем на основі полімерного паперу «Nomex» широко використовуються у відповідальних конструкціях різноманітного призначення. Метод дозволяє технологічними засобами знизити нерівномірність масопереносу, забезпечивши потрібний допуск на фізико-механічні характеристики стільникових заповнювачів з полімерного паперу.Розглянута задача масопереносу дозволила глибше розкрити механізми формування нерівномірного шару просочення на етапах процесу сушіння при виробництві стільникового заповнювача з полімерного паперу. Використовуючи отримані механізми і технологічні можливості регулювання характеристик зв’язуючих, можливо поліпшити рівномірність товщини шару уздовж каналів стільників до значень, які забезпечать потрібний допуск на фізико-механічні характеристики стільникового заповнювача, Сэндвичевые панели с сотовым заполнителем на основе полимерной бумаги «Nomex» широко используются в ответственных конструкциях различного назначения. В процессе производства таких панелей некоторые факторы технологического процесса, такие как нанос связующего на сотовый заполнитель, температурные режимы сушки и полимеризации нанесенного слоя, наиболее существенно влияют на физико-механические характеристики готовых изделий. Специфических фактором производства сотового заполнителя из полимерного бумаги является его многостадийная пропитка аппретирующим составом, а затем связующим на заключительный операциях с последующей сушкой и термообработкой сотоблоков. В результате этих операций имеет место неравномерной тепло- и массоперенос (миграция) связывающего от центральной части панели к периферийным торцевым ее зонам. Исследованы закономерности этого неравномерного тепло- и массопереноса связующего вдоль длина сотового канала. Показано, что эти явления обусловлены гидродинамическим движением связующего, вызванным градиентом температуры, его плотности и коэффициента поверхностного натяжения. На основе этого разработан метод определения толщина слоя связующего вдоль каналов сотов при известном (заданном) законе изменения плотности и поверхностного натяжения вдоль длины ячейки сотового заполнителя. Метод позволяет технологическими средствами снизить неравномерность массопереноса, обеспечив потребный допуск на физико-механические характеристики сотовых заполнителей из полимерной бумаги. Рассмотренная задача массопереноса позволила глубже вскрыть механизмы формирования неравномерного слоя пропитки на этапах процесса сушки при производстве сотового заполнителя из полимерной бумаги. Используя полученные механизмы и технологические возможности регулирования характеристик связующих, возможно улучшить равномерность толщины слоя вдоль каналов сотов до значений, обеспечивающих потребный допуск на физико-механические характеристики сотового заполнителя

English is a universal language and is widely used. In order to deepen the cognition of language, this paper proposes to analyse the variation of metadiscourse verb patterns in English academic papers from within and between disciplines. By comparing the metadiscourse chunks used in various disciplines, it is concluded that there are obvious differences in the verb types of the subject papers. Analysing various identification algorithms of verb types, it is obtained that the combination of the word movement distance (WMD) model and the R&L density peak clustering algorithm is the best. Using the R&L density peak clustering, identification parameters are easy to determine, and when combined with the WMD model to calculate the similarity of words, it improve the accuracy of verb pattern clustering. By comparison, it is proved that the accuracy of the algorithm combining the WMD model and R&L density peak clustering reaches 30.06%, and the effect of identifying verb pattern variation is the best.

This paper serves as a conceptualisation of how the principles of Whole Brain® thinking can be used to inform lecturer identity. The objective of this position paper is to engage discourse on the educational professional development of early-career academics in health sciences. It is about laying a scholarly foundation for self-study. As a scholarly community of practice in family medicine we wanted to determine to what extent the literature – theoretical framework – is silent on innovative means to ensure that academics take responsibility for their development, using self-regulated learning and self-empowerment. In our search for literature on theories of professional learning we came across the theory about Whole Brain® thinking. Our action research initiatives revolve around the notion of individuals’ preferences for different modes of thinking. Our preferred modes of thinking inform our teaching practice and lecturer identity. Este documento sirve como una conceptualización de como los principios del pensamiento Whole Brain® pueden usarse para informar la identidad del profesor. El objetivo de este documento de posición es participar en el discurso sobre el desarrollo profesional educativo de los académicos en las primeras carreras de ciencias de la salud. Se trata de sentar una base académica para el autoestudio. Como comunidad académica de práctica en medicina familiar, queríamos determinar en que medida la literatura – el marco teórico – guarda silencio sobre los medios innovadores para garantizar que los académicos asuman la responsabilidad de su desarrollo, utilizando el aprendizaje autorregulado y el autoempoderamiento. En nuestra búsqueda de literatura sobre teorías del aprendizaje profesional nos encontramos con la teoría del pensamiento Whole Brain®. Nuestras iniciativas de investigación-acción giran en torno a la noción de las preferencias de los individuos por diferentes modos de pensamiento. Nuestros modos preferidos de pensamiento informan nuestra práctica docente y nuestra identidad como profesor. O presente artigo busca uma conceitualização sobre como os princípios do pensamento holístico (ou baseado no modelo Whole Brain®) podem ser usados para informar a identidade do professor. O objetivo deste artigo de posição é envolver o discurso sobre o desenvolvimento profissional educacional de acadêmicos em início de carreira nas ciências da saúde; trata-se de estabelecer uma base acadêmica para o autoestudo. Como comunidade de prática em medicina familiar, queríamos determinar até que ponto a literatura – quadro teórico – está silenciosa sobre meios inovadores para garantir que os acadêmicos assumam a responsabilidade por seu desenvolvimento, usando a aprendizagem autorregulada e o autoempoderamento. Na nossa busca por literatura sobre teorias de aprendizagem profissional, encontramos a teoria sobre o pensamento Whole Brain®. Todas as iniciativas estão em torno da noção das preferências individuais por diferentes modos de pensamento; os modos de pensar que preferimos informam a nossa prática de ensino e a identidade docente.

Very recently Jain et al. (J. Inequal. Appl. 2022:73, 2022) introduced the concept of multivalued F-contraction with altering distance function and investigated the existence of best proximity points for this class of mappings. In this article we prove that the existence of best proximity points for multivalued F-contraction non-self mappings can be obtained from the corresponding fixed point result for multivalued F-contraction self mappings, and so the main conclusion due to Jain et al. is not a real generalization of fixed point theory.

We consider discrete dynamical systems coming from the models of evolution of populations playing rock - paper - scissors game . Asymptotic behaviour of trajectories of these systems is described, occurrence of the Neimark-Sacker bifurcation and nonexistence of time averages are proved.

Understanding the effects of water absorption on the geometry of a paper sheet is important for inkjet printing applications, since internal moisture content differences may cause unacceptable out-of-plane deformations. The present work focuses on moisture-induced deformations due to a moisture content that is uniform over the thickness of the sheet. Large enough in-plane differences will cause the sheet to buckle, leading to a wavy pattern at the edges of the sheet. Two approaches are utilized to study this for levels of moisture content up to and including the threshold for buckling. An analytical approach, based on geometrically nonlinear plate theory (von Karman theory), and a numerical one, using commercially available finite element software, are presented. As a first reference problem an isotropic circular plate, wetted uniformly at its center, is solved both analytically and numerically for the in-plane stress distribution, the buckling threshold, and the resulting buckling mode. Secondly, the same is done for an orthotropic rectangular plate, wetted at its edges. Here, in the analytical approach a Rayleigh–Ritz analysis is employed to approximate the buckling threshold. The latter is also calculated by numerical means. The results show that the methods provide results consistent with each other.

To support the safe operation of the novel three-element mixed insulation oil (TEMO) transformer, gas generation behaviors of the TEMO oil–paper insulation system under overheating faults and discharge faults were investigated. Results show that that the content of H2 and C2H6 generated by TEMO–paper insulation system is much higher than that in conventional mineral oil (MO)–paper insulation system under different overheating temperatures. Under partial discharge fault, the content of H2 dissolved in oil changes distinctly, while the content of C2H2 also increases with the discharge time. Under surface flashover breakdown, AC breakdown and lightning impulse breakdown fault, the content of H2 and C2H2 changes greatly compared to other gases, while the concentration of total hydrocarbon gases in TEMO–paper insulation system is smaller than that in MO–paper insulating system after the same breakdown times. The diagnosis model of overheating and discharge faults for the TEMO–paper insulation system was proposed based on the oil dissolved gas analysis, while H2, C2H2 and C2H4 were chosen as the characteristic gases and the boundary settings were determined. The verified result for the low-temperature overheating, lightning impulse and surface flashover fault for the TEMO–paper insulation system presents that the new diagnosis model is effective.

This study presents a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the paper published by John Aitchison in the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society. Series B (Methodological) in 1982. Having recently reached the milestone of 35 years since its publication, this pioneering paper was the first to illustrate the use of the methodology "Compositional Data Analysis" or "CoDA". By October 2019, this paper had received over 780 citations, making it the most widely cited and influential article among those using said methodology. The bibliometric approach used in this study encompasses a wide range of techniques, including a specific analysis of the main authors and institutions to have cited Aitchison' paper. The VOSviewer software was also used for the purpose of developing network maps for said publication. Specifically, the techniques used were co-citations and bibliographic coupling. In a recently published theorem on the split common fixed point problem for strict pseudocontractive and asymptotically nonexpansive mappings, Tang et al. (J. Inequal. Appl. 2015:305, 2015) studied a uniformly convex and 2-uniformly smooth real Banach space with the Opial property and best smoothness constant κ satisfying the condition $0 0 < κ < 1 2 , as a real Banach space more general than Hilbert spaces. A well-known example of a uniformly convex and 2-uniformly smooth real Banach space with the Opial property is $E=l_{p}$ E = l p , $2\leq p 2 ≤ p < ∞ . It is shown in this paper that, if κ is the best smoothness constant of E and satisfies the condition $0 0 < κ ≤ 1 2 , then E is necessarily $l_{2}$ l 2 , a real Hilbert space. Furthermore, some important remarks concerning the proof of this theorem are presented.

In the article discussed history of building Astrakhan and Selenga paper and cardboard mills. The author on base archival materials is analyzing the impact of expert commentary on the building paper and cardboard mills. The main purpose of the article is to show, on the example of the construction of the CCC, the process of relations between scientific expert groups and government representatives on the issue of environmental safety in the design and location of the country's production facilities. In addition, the author emphasizes that for the Soviet leadership, issues of the environmental component of enterprises often became secondary, departing from economic necessity. At the same time, the scientific community itself did not in some cases have a single position on a particular issue, since a conflict arose between representatives of departmental and scientific academic structures, which was most pronounced during the construction of the Selenginsky pulp and cardboard plant. In the case of the Astrakhan pulp and cardboard plant project, it is shown that underestimating the capabilities of the resource base of production can lead to environmental problems. Author marked that despite of scientific and technological inspection, scientific opinions was ignored by government leaders in cases large technological objects.

In fibrous paper materials, an exposure to a variation in moisture content causes changes in the geometrical and mechanical properties. Such changes are strongly affected by the inter-fibre bonds, which are responsible for the transfer of the hygro-mechanical response from one fibre to its neighbours in the network, resulting in sheet-scale deformation. Most models developed in literature assume perfect bonding between fibres. In the 3D reality, there is some flexibility in the bond region, even for the perfectly bonded fibres, because of the possibility of deformation gradients through the fibre thickness. In earlier 2D idealizations, perfectly bonded fibres were assumed, implying full kinematic constraint through the entire thickness of the sheet. The purpose of the present study is to assess the effect of this assumption. Using a homogenization approach, a random network of fibres is generated with different coverages and modelled using finite elements. In order to understand the role of bonding between fibres on the hygro-expansive behaviour of a network, a bond model is developed. In this model, the fibres are modelled using 2D regular bulk finite elements and the bonds are represented by interfacial elements of finite stiffness, which are introduced between each pair of fibres bonded in the network. These embedded interfacial elements form a connection between two respective fibres, allowing relative displacements between their mid-planes. The hygro-elastic response of networks obtained with this bond model is investigated by varying the bond stiffness and the network coverage under the application of mechanical loading and changes in moisture content. Establishing and optimizing a distributed parameter thermal path model for transformer windings is an important means to analyze the hot-spot temperature of the windings; furthermore, in the process of improving the thermal path model of transformers and improving the accuracy of their models, the thermal characteristics of the insulation paper are extremely important. A microscopic thermal contact resistance model was established for the contact interface of insulation paper and copper, according to the microscopic morphology parameters of copper and insulation paper observed by atomic force microscopy, the thermal contact resistance under different temperatures was calculated. A dual heat flow test platform was built to test the heat transfer behavior of four different thickness insulation papers under four temperatures, and the thermal contact resistance and thermal bulk resistance with temperature were analyzed. The results show that as the temperature increases, the thermal resistance of the insulation paper becomes larger and the thermal conductivity decreases. The average error between the experimental and theoretical values of the thermal contact resistance under four temperature points in the study is 6.6%. The results provide a data support for establishing and optimizing transformer heat generation and heat transfer models.

Antipredator behaviour is a self-preservation strategy present in many biological systems, where individuals join the effort in a collective reaction to avoid being caught by an approaching predator. We study a nonhierarchical tritrophic system, whose predator-prey interactions are described by the rock-paper-scissors game rules. We performed a set of spatial stochastic simulations where organisms of one out of the species can resist predation in a collective strategy. The drop in predation capacity is local, which means that each predator faces a particular opposition depending on the prey group size surrounding it. Considering that the interference in a predator action depends on the prey's physical and cognitive ability, we explore the role of a conditioning factor that indicates the fraction of the species apt to perform the antipredator strategy. Because of the local unbalancing of the cyclic predator-prey interactions, departed spatial domains mainly occupied by a single species emerge. Unlike the rock-paper-scissors model with a weak species because a nonlocal reason, our findings show that if the predation probability of one species is reduced because individuals face local antipredator response, the species does not predominate. Instead, the local unbalancing of the rock-paper-scissors model results in the prevalence of the weak species' prey. Finally, the outcomes show that local unevenness may jeopardise biodiversity, with the coexistence being more threatened for high mobility., 9 pages, 11 figures

The possibility to dispose of paper mill sludge as part of a composition of container cardboard from secondary raw materials has been investigated. The fractional composition of the sludge was studied and it was shown that the main part of the fibers is represented by small particles with a size of up to 1.2mm. Studying the processes of formation of container cardboard when using paper mill sludge showed that an increase in the consumption of fibrous-inorganic waste leads to a deterioration in the physical and mechanical properties of cardboard. However, the increase in sludge consumption does not affect the surface absorption of water during one-sided wetting. The value of these indicators is within the normal range and is 25 and 70g/m2, respectively. In addition, an increase in sludge consumption from 10 to 50% in the manufacture of cardboard leads to a decrease in the degree of fiber retention on the grid from 86.3 to 82.1%. Regularities of using strengthening additives, namely industrial cationic and anionic flocculants, as well as native corn and modified starches for the strength of cardboard and the quality of sub-grid waters, have been established. Research results show that the effect of flocculants is quite ambiguous. On the one hand, there is a clearly observed positive impact on the quality of the sub-grid waters. This is due to the reduction of their turbidity due to smaller fiber washes. Nevertheless, the positive effect on physical and mechanical parameters is minimal, and in some cases, there is a decrease in strength indicators. The greater the efficiency of keeping fine fiber on the grid when using flocculants, the lower the values of physical and mechanical indicators. In general, when using sludge in the composition of cardboard in combination with flocculants and starch, the indicators were achieved that are considered standard for waste paper container cardboard of grade KT-1 according to TU U 17.1-41085075-002:2017

Document forgeries that involve modification of the materials used, such as ink and paper, provide evidence of any malpractices being performed. Forensic specialists use different techniques to identify and classify these samples; however, the most preferred method is to use nondestructive techniques to avoid any potential damage to the original specimen under investigation. Hyperspectral imaging has already been explored in several application domains and used as a powerful method in forensic investigations to extract information about the materials under examination. To precisely classify the material information and utilize the hyperspectral imaging technique's potential, we probed the potential of some hybrid spectral similarity measures to classify different commonly used paper samples. A comparison of these methods is quantitatively presented in this article.
