Cybersecurity has been widely used in various applications, such as intelligent industrial systems, homes, personal devices, and cars, and has led to innovative developments that continue to face challenges in solving problems related to security methods for IoT devices. Effective security methods, such as deep learning for intrusion detection, have been introduced. Recent research has focused on improving deep learning algorithms for improved security in IoT. This research explores intrusion detection methods implemented using deep learning, compares the performance of different deep learning methods, and identifies the best method for implementing intrusion detection in IoT. This research is conducted using deep learning models based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs), long short-term memory (LSTM), and gated recurrent units (GRUs). A standard dataset for intrusion detection in IoT is considered to evaluate the proposed model. Finally, the empirical results are analyzed and compared with the existing approaches for intrusion detection in IoT. The proposed method seemed to have the highest accuracy compared to the existing methods.

Background: Essential Proteins are demonstrated to exert vital functions on cellular processes and are indispensable for the survival and reproduction of the organism. Traditional centrality methods perform poorly on complex protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks. Machine learning approaches based on high-throughput data lack the exploitation of the temporal and spatial dimensions of biological information., Results: We put forward a deep learning framework to predict essential proteins by integrating features obtained from the PPI network, subcellular localization, and gene expression profiles. In our model, the node2vec method is applied to learn continuous feature representations for proteins in the PPI network, which capture the diversity of connectivity patterns in the network. The concept of depthwise separable convolution is employed on gene expression profiles to extract properties and observe the trends of gene expression over time under different experimental conditions. Subcellular localization information is mapped into a long one-dimensional vector to capture its characteristics. Additionally, we use a sampling method to mitigate the impact of imbalanced learning when training the model. With experiments carried out on the data of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, results show that our model outperforms traditional centrality methods and machine learning methods. Recently, the number of Internet of Things (IoT)-connected devices has increased daily. Consequently, cybersecurity challenges have increased due to the natural diversity of the IoT, limited hardware resources, and limited security capabilities. Intrusion detection systems (IDSs) play a substantial role in securing IoT networks. Several researchers have focused on machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) to develop intrusion detection techniques. Although ML is good for classification, other methods perform better in feature transformation. However, at the level of accuracy, both learning techniques have their own certain compromises. Although IDSs based on ML and DL methods can achieve a high detection rate, the performance depends on the training dataset size. Incidentally, collecting a large amount of data is one of the main drawbacks that limits performance when training datasets are lacking, and such methods can fail to detect novel attacks. Few-shot learning (FSL) is an emerging approach that is employed in different domains because of its proven ability to learn from a few training samples. Although numerous studies have addressed the issues of IDSs and improved IDS performance, the literature on FSL-based IDSs is scarce. Therefore, an investigation is required to explore the performance of FSL in IoT IDSs. This work proposes an IoT intrusion detection model based on a convolutional neural network as a feature extractor and a prototypical network as an FSL classifier. The empirical results were analyzed and compared with those of recent intrusion detection approaches. Detecting cyber intrusions in network traffic is a tough task for cybersecurity. Current methods struggle with the complexity of understanding patterns in network data. To solve this, we present the Hybrid Deep Learning Intrusion Detection Model (HD-IDM), a new way that combines GRU and LSTM classifiers. GRU is good at catching quick patterns, while LSTM handles long-term ones. HD-IDM blends these models using weighted averaging, boosting accuracy, especially with complex patterns. We tested HD-IDM on four datasets: CSE-CIC-IDS2017, CSE-CIC-IDS2018, NSL KDD, and CIC-DDoS2019. The HD-IDM classifier achieved remarkable performance metrics on all datasets. It attains an outstanding accuracy of 99.91%, showcasing its consistent precision across the dataset. With an impressive precision of 99.62%, it excels in accurately categorizing positive cases, crucial for minimizing false positives. Additionally, maintaining a high recall of 99.43%, it effectively identifies the majority of actual positive cases while minimizing false negatives. The F1-score of 99.52% emphasizes its robustness, making it the top choice for classification tasks requiring precision and reliability. It is particularly good at ROC and precision/recall curves, discriminating normal and harmful network activities. While HD-IDM is promising, it has limits. It needs labeled data and may struggle with new intrusion methods. Future work should find ways to handle unlabeled data and adapt to emerging threats. Rice is one of the fundamental food items that comes in many varieties with their associated benefits. It can be sub-categorized based on its visual features like texture, color, and shape. Using these features, the automatic classification of rice varieties has been studied using various machine learning approaches for marketing and industrial use. Due to the outstanding performance of deep learning, several models have been proposed to assist in vision tasks like classification and detection. Regardless of their best results on accuracy metrics, they have been observed as overly excessive for computational resources and expert supervision. To address these challenges, this paper proposes three deep learning models that offer similar performance with 10% lighter computational overhead in comparison to existing best models. Moreover, they have been trained for end-to-end flow to demonstrate minimum expert supervision for pre-processing and feature engineering sub-tasks. The results can be observed as promising for classifying rice among five varieties, namely Arborio, Basmati, Ipsala, Jasmine, and Karacadag. Seismic activity prediction has been a challenging research domain: in this regard, accurate prediction using historical data is an intricate task. Numerous machine learning and traditional approaches have been presented lately for seismic activity prediction; however, no generalizable model exists. In this work, we consider seismic activity predication as a binary classification problem, and propose a deep neural network architecture for the classification problem, using historical data from Chile, Hindukush, and Southern California. After obtaining the data for the three regions, a data cleaning process was used, which was followed by a feature engineering step, to create multiple new features based on various seismic laws. Afterwards, the proposed model was trained on the data, for improved prediction of the seismic activity. The performance of the proposed model was evaluated and compared with extant techniques, such as random forest, support vector machine, and logistic regression. The proposed model achieved accuracy scores of 98.28%, 95.13%, and 99.29% on the Chile, Hindukush, and Southern California datasets, respectively, which were higher than the current benchmark model and classifiers. Deep learning is expanding and continues to evolve its capabilities toward more accuracy, speed, and cost-effectiveness. The core ingredients for getting its promising results are appropriate data, sufficient computational resources, and best use of a particular algorithm. The application of these algorithms in medical image analysis tasks has achieved outstanding results compared to classical machine learning approaches. Localizing the area-of-interest is a challenging task that has vital importance in computer aided diagnosis. Generally, radiologists interpret the radiographs based on their knowledge and experience. However, sometimes, they can overlook or misinterpret the findings due to various reasons, e.g., workload or judgmental error. This leads to the need for specialized AI tools that assist radiologists in highlighting abnormalities if exist. To develop a deep learning driven localizer, certain alternatives are available within architectures, datasets, performance metrics, and approaches. Informed decision for selection within the given alternative can lead to batter outcome within lesser resources. This paper lists the required components along-with explainable AI for developing an abnormality localizer for X-ray images in detail. Moreover, strong-supervised vs weak-supervised approaches have been majorly discussed in the light of limited annotated data availability. Likewise, other correlated challenges have been presented along-with recommendations based on a relevant literature review and similar studies. Insect pests are a major element influencing agricultural production. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), an estimated 20–40% of pest damage occurs each year, which reduces global production and becomes a major challenge to crop production. These insect pests cause sooty mold disease by sucking the sap from the crop's organs, especially leaves, fruits, stems, and roots. To control these pests, pesticides are frequently used because they are fast-acting and scalable. Due to environmental pollution and health awareness, less use of pesticides is recommended. One of the salient approaches could be to reduce the wide use of pesticides by spraying on demand. To perform spot spraying, the location of the pest must first be determined. Therefore, the growing population and increasing food demand emphasize the development of novel methods and systems for agricultural production to address environmental concerns and ensure efficiency and sustainability. To accurately identify these insect pests at an early stage, insect pest detection and classification have recently become in high demand. Thus, this study aims to develop an object recognition system for the detection of crops damaging insect pests and their classification. The current work proposes an automatic system in the form of a smartphone IP- camera to detect insect pests from digital images/videos to reduce farmers' reliance on pesticides. The proposed approach is based on YOLO object detection architectures including YOLOv5 (n, s, m, l, and x), YOLOv3, YOLO-Lite, and YOLOR. For this purpose, we collected 7046 images in the wild under different illumination and background conditions to train the underlying object detection approaches. We trained and test the object recognition system with different parameters from scratch. The eight models are compared and analyzed. The experimental results show that the average precision (AP@0.5) of the eight models including YOLO-Lite, YOLOv3, YOLOR, and YOLOv5 with five different scales (n, s, m, l, and x) reach 51.7%, 97.6%, 96.80%, 83.85%, 94.61%, 97.18%, 97.04%, and 98.3% respectively. The larger the model, the higher the average accuracy of the detection validation results. We observed that the YOLOv5x model is fully functional and can correctly identify the twenty-three species of insect pests at 40.5 milliseconds (ms). The developed model YOLOv5x performs the state-of-the-art model with an average precision value of (mAP@0.5) 98.3%, (mAP@0.5:0.95) value of 79.8%, precision of 94.5% and a recall of 97.8%, and F1-score with 96% on our IP-23 dataset. It is crucial to ensure proper surveillance for the safety and security of people and their assets. The development of an aerial surveillance system might be very effective in catering to the challenges in surveillance systems. Current systems are expensive and complex. A cost-effective and efficient solution is required, which is easily accessible to anyone with a moderate budget. In aerial surveillance, quadcopters are equipped with state-of-the-art image processing technology that captures detailed photographs of every object underneath. A quadcopter-based solution is proposed to monitor desired premises for any unusual activities, like the movement of persons with weapons and face detection to achieve the desired surveillance. After detection of any unusual activity, the proposed system generates an alert for security personals. The proposed solution is based on quadcopter surveillance and video streaming for anomaly detection in the received video streams through deep learning models. A well-known FasterRCNN algorithm is modified for fast learning with feature reduction in the initial feature extraction step. Five different kinds of CNNs were evaluated for their ability to identify objects of interest in surveillance images. ResNet-50–based FasterRCNN with the highest average precision performed as an excellent solution for threat detection. The average precision of the system is 79% across all categories achieved. The integration of cellular networks and vehicular networks is complex and heterogeneous. Synchronization among vehicles in heterogeneous vehicular clusters plays an important role in effective data sharing and the stability of the cluster. This synchronization depends on the smooth exchange of information between vehicles and remote servers over the Internet. The remote servers predict road traffic patterns by adopting deep learning methods to help drivers on the roads. At the same time, local data processing at the vehicular cluster level may increase the capabilities of remote servers. However, global positioning system (GPS) signal interruption, especially in the urban environment, plays a big part in the detritions of synchronization among the vehicles that lead to the instability of the cluster. Instability of connections is a major hurdle in developing cost-effective solutions for deriving assistance and route planning applications. To solve this problem, a self-localization scheme within the vehicular cluster is proposed. The proposed self-localization scheme handles GPS signal interruption to the vehicle within the cluster. A unique clustering criterion and a synchronization mechanism for sharing traffic information system (TIS) data among multiple vehicles are developed. Cardiac disease diagnosis and identification is problematic mostly by inaccurate segmentation of the cardiac left ventricle (LV). Besides, LV segmentation is challenging since it involves complex and variable cardiac structures in terms of components and the intricacy of time-based crescendos. In addition, full segmentation and quantification of the LV myocardium border is even more challenging because of different shapes and sizes of the myocardium border zone. The foremost purpose of this research is to design a precise automatic segmentation technique employing deep learning models for the myocardium border using cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The ASPP module (Atrous Spatial Pyramid Pooling) was integrated with a proposed 2D-residual neural network for segmentation of the myocardium border using a cardiac MRI dataset. Further, the ensemble technique based on a majority voting ensemble method was used to blend the results of recent deep learning models on different set of hyperparameters. The proposed model produced an 85.43% dice score on validation samples and 98.23% on training samples and provided excellent performance compared to recent deep learning models. The myocardium border was successfully segmented across diverse subject slices with different shapes, sizes and contrast using the proposed deep learning ensemble models. The proposed model can be employed for automatic detection and segmentation of the myocardium border for precise quantification of reflow, myocardial infarction, myocarditis, and h cardiomyopathy (HCM) for clinical applications.
