One of the survivors in Spain of the free distribution press is the specialized publication Diario Médico, which has been disseminating health issues among professionals of the National Health System for 25 years. We did an exploratory-descriptive study about its origins and current situation, paying attention to its labour in paper, through the printed product, and in Red, through diariomedico.com. The techniques are the interview with its deputy director and the analysis of its products. The mixed format defines Diario Médico: it maintains its commitment to offer information on paper, despite having reduced the periodicity from daily to weekly; leads its paper readers to Orbyt, the digital press kiosk of the promoter group, Unidad Editorial, where it offers seven pages a day in pdf format with information for subscribers, and on the Web, with an edition that opens to the participation of the user. The informative tone of its contents and its usefulness for society, together with the growing interest of the non-specialized public in medicine and health, lead to Diario Médico, in our opinion, to have a double objective public: society in general and professionals of the System in particular. This research deals with the editorial positioning of 15 Spanish and Portuguese newspapers and magazines on Marcelo Caetano's official visit to Spain in 1970. The editorials and opinion articles are analysed using a quantitative, qualitative and comparative methodology. We identify different ideological orientations. The paper concludes that the official newspapers and some moderate ones were triumphalist in the opinions expressed; few opinions distanced themselves from the official political slogans; and the opposition press oscillated between keeping silent and expressing reservations about both regimes. In the heat insulation winding molding process of solid rocket motors, the pressure applied by the press roller directly affects the quality of the winding molding. Insufficient pressure can result in poor bonding quality and may cause defects. This paper aims to provide an optimal design of the press roller to improve the winding molding quality of the heat insulation. The effect of the cylindrical press roller on the pressure distribution was analyzed using the elastic foundation model and a finite element (FE) model, which was assessed by Hertz theory. Subsequently, the press roller was optimized to an elliptical concave design. The effect of the radius of the elliptical concave press roller on the pressure distribution was analyzed. A comparison of the effect of the elliptical concave press roller and the cylindrical press roller on the pressure distribution was conducted using the FE model. The results show pressure uniformity is significantly improved when the elliptical concave press roller is employed on the mandrel with the smallest radius. Additionally, the elliptical concave press roller increases the pressure at the edge of the tape, which reduces the risk of lifted edges and, thereby, improves the winding molding quality of the heat insulation. The Supreme Court has constructed key parts of First Amendment law around two underlying assumptions. The first is that the press is a powerful actor capable of obtaining government information and checking government power. The second is that the executive branch is bound by various internal and external constraints that limit its ability to keep information secret. Judges and legislators have long assumed that these twin forces--an emboldened press and a constrained executive--maintain a rough balance between the press's desire to uncover secrets and the executive's desire to keep information hidden. Landmark First Amendment cases such as the Pentagon Papers decision embody this view. Professor Cass Sunstein has described these cases as establishing a "First Amendment equilibrium," one that arises out of the structural competition between the press and the executive. Today, judges and legislators continue to treat the press and the government as equal combatants in these disputes. Yet whatever equilibrium might once have existed between the press and executive branch has been destabilized. The institutional press has been eviscerated in recent years--hemorrhaging talent, expertise, resources, and legitimacy. Wide swaths of the country now qualify as "news deserts," lacking any local press presence at all. Public trust in the mainstream media has also plummeted. At the same time, many internal checks no longer constrain the ability of the executive branch to guard its secrets. This combination of a hollowed-out press and an insufficiently checked executive has given rise to a First Amendment disequilibrium, unsettling the foundations of this critical segment of constitutional law. Since online social networks play an increasingly important role in the final voting decision of each individual, political parties and candidates are changing the way of doing politics and campaigning, increasing their digital presence. In this paper, we propose a methodology to analyze and measure the emotions that news agencies express on social media towards candidates and apply it to the 2018 Brazilian elections. The presented method is based on a sentiment analysis and emotion mining by means of machine learning and Natural Language Processing approaches such as Naïve Bayes classification and Stemming calculation. We found that if doing basic sentiment detection, nearly all posts are neutral. However, when we analyze emotions, following Ekman's six basic emotions, we do not find neutrality but clear and identifiable emotions. Next, we present and discuss the associative patterns between news agencies and presidential candidates. Finally, since the candidate that captured the highest and most negative attention emerged victorious in the elections, we discuss the potential importance of having a social media presence, regardless of generating positive or negative emotions. When evaluating performance of ensemble streamflow forecasts, in scientific papers mostly verification metrics are reported, such as relative mean error, relative operating characteristic, and mean continuous ranked probability skill score. The research presented here analyses how such reported performances, compare with evaluation of one of the application areas: flood forecasting and early warning. The anecdotal evaluation concerns reviewing online news media for forecasts and warnings of floods and for reports of floods occurred. While realising there is often a complex pathway between forecast and published warning online, it is discussed whether both evaluations leave us with a similar sense of 'where do we stand today' with the performance of ensemble flood forecasting, or, if different, how to come to a combined or integrated viewpoint. The aim of this paper is to analyze metaphors about the social outbreak in editorials, from Diario El Sur and Diario Concepción, two of Concepción's local newspapers. The corpus was composed of 23 editorials from these newspapers. Metaphor identification was done through Discourse Dynamics Approach to Metaphor. A total of 653 metaphors was found, which was then grouped, resulting in a total sum of 268 metaphors for the analysis. In this research, the editorial perspective about the social outbreak of two local newspapers was studied through metaphor. In both media outlets, similar metaphor vehicles were used. While Diario El Sur prioritizes the need for normalization, Diario Concepción legitimates the demonstrations as an expression of social discontent. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper is a research advance of the project "Materialities, Education and Public: Uses and Social Meanings of the Archaeological Heritage in Sigsig". Its purpose is focused on the identification of educational, communicational and political problems in terms of archaeology and archaeological heritage in southern Ecuador. The most popularly used statistic R 2 has a fundamental weakness in model building: it favors adding more predictors to the model because R 2 can only increase. In effect, additional predictors start fitting noise to the data. Other measures used in selecting a regression model such as R adj 2 , AIC, SBC, and Mallow's C p does not guarantee that the model selected will also make better prediction of future values. To avoid this, data scientists withhold a percentage of the data for validation purposes. The PRESS statistic does something similar by withholding each observation in calculating its own predicted value. In this paper, we investigated the behavior of R PRESS 2 , and how it performs compared to other criterion in model selection in the presence of unnecessary predictors. Using simulated data, we found R PRESS 2 has generally performed best in selecting the true model as the best model for prediction among the model selection measures considered. The aim of this paper is to analyse a corpus of 137 texts published between 1888 and 1899. These texts are included in one of the most successful Spanish-language newspapers published in the United States during the second half of the nineteenth century: Las Novedades (New York, 1876-1918). In the analysis I will determine the linguistic ideologies and the discursive strategies used for the promotion of Hispanism and Spanish language in a sociopolitical context in which the Spanish hegemony was losing all its power at an international level. Thus, the ideologies found are divided in two different categories: the linguistic ideologies that give the language a cultural value and the linguistic ideologies that make reference to the economic and commercial value of the language. The results obtained from this analysis will contribute to understand the role of Spanish language in the United States. Furthermore, this paper presents an unpublished corpus of clear historiographic interest that contributes to clarify the panorama of Hispanism in a country like the United States. This paper investigates the media discourses about gender violence of Spanish and Italian newspapers on Facebook, focusing on the aggressors. Analyzing the ideology, we see if the news let infer a social or a patriarchal perspective about gender violence, considering both newspapers and users' discourses. We adopt the Critical Discourse Analysis perspective, with a linguistic-discoursive glance and with a journalistic one. And with a linguistic-cognitive-semiotic and analytical methodology. Results tell us that the Spanish and Italian press represent the aggressors through a patriarchal ideology, influencing the users' discourses. A statistical bibliometric study of the trends of the topics related to the design, diagnosis of buildings and construction developed over the last 19 years is carried out through the analysis of five cases of international journals specific to the area of high impact research. in architecture and construction. The total volume of papers involved in the topics of analysis reaches 24,230 units. With these historical data it is expected to determine current issues, of sustained relevance and to detect emerging topics of great transforming potential in the discipline. Development trends are observed in the emerging topics of interest and percentage growth among all the topics considered. The variation in the level of participation of some topics in architecture and construction over time is defined in the cases analyzed. The results indicate the stable topics and those emerging whose development and antiquity announces a forthcoming trend that will transform again the way of designing, communicating and constructing the architectural object. The paper analyzes several pamphlets produced in the context of the Luso-Brazilian constitutionalist movement, whose main theme was the network of controversies formed around the so-called praga periodiqueira (periodical plague). The expression referred to the remarkable proliferation of political publications that took place during the Independence process. The approach emphasizes the different views regarding issues such as freedom and limits of the press, public role of editors, writing protocols and political mobilization. It highlights the meanings about the emergence of a set of discursive formulas that became references of public writing and of political debate throughout the XIX century in Brazil and Portugal. The article analyzes an intense controversy in which prominent members of a conservative sector of the Aguascalientes society took part, who manifested themselves through the local press, regarding the fact that in the second courtyard of the Government Palace the Chilean artist Osvaldo Barra Cunningham made, in 1961, the mural painting Aguascalientes en la historia. Some subjects in which the historical evolution of the Catholic Church is represented caused sting in certain sectors of the population, who felt aggrieved for interpreting, that the faith, beliefs and religious sensibilities of Catholics were freely offended. This paper aims to study how the armed movement known as the Cristiada (1926-1929), that opposed the State with the Catholic Church in Mexico, was a symbolic event for the development and transmission of anticlerical thought through Latin America. From discourses circulated at journals such as Amauta (Peru), Claridad (in Argentina and Chile), and Repertorio Americano (Costa Rica) we will study reasons, circumstances and ideologies that took the Mexican case as an intellectual guide for Latin American modernization. Democrat Party (DP) era is one of the contested periods in terms of politics, economy, society and foreign policy in Turkey. Particularly, the government-press relations and Turkey's Middle East policy especially in the late 1950s consist serious challenges and crises. Initially, the DP government conducted a liberal press policy, but in the second half of the decade government-press relations strained. Similarly, Turkey's Middle East policy can be regarded as a success story in the first half of the decade, while Turkey faced serious crises and challenges in the region in the second half. Despite several studies on governmentpress relations in the 1950s in the literature, there is a shortage of specific studies analyzing positions of the press towards DP's Middle East policy. As a result, this paper aims to fill this gap and analyze the positions of the press regarding Turkey's Middle East policy throughout the decade in order to show divergence and convergence between the government and the press. Selected newspapers and journals published in this period will be used as primary sources. This paper concludes that the press in Turkey, regardless of their positions towards the government, supported DP's pro-Western and anti-communist Middle East policy despite some exceptions. This paper analyses a group of metaphors conceptualising the welfare state as a participant in the ATTACK scenario, as well as several related metaphors involving the use of force, in a corpus of British newspaper articles published between 2008 and April 2015. The analysis draws on a point of convergence between Discourse-Historical Approach and Conceptual Metaphor Theory, focusing on the argumentative functions of these metaphors. The paper finds that these particular metaphors are attested predominantly in the left-leaning newspapers. Nowadays, the internet plays a major role in online information retrieval. As, we are well aware the web provides information related all the fields like national, lifestyle, movies, shopping, spirituality, sports, entertainment and much more. One cannot assume that the web retrieved information is believable or trustworthy due to multiple answers to the same query. The paper aims to study many research articles which are related to truth information discovery. However, the paper found that there is no proper research to find trustworthiness of news content which is extracted from multiple information sources with minimum misclassification error and retrieval time. To alleviate these issues, the truth content discovery algorithm is proposed to produce trustworthy information with minimal time along with multiple domain news information. The system provides reliable information from a various source of news provider with minimum classification error. The proposed method ranked the news content index based on query matches from extracted information. It minimizes the query retrieval time and classification error. Based on the experimental evaluation, proposed TCD + J48 algorithm produced the best result compared to existing approaches. This paper analyzes the emergence of the reporters' profession in the press in Rio de Janeiro between the 1880s and 1900s. For this purpose, statutes of associations, newspapers, and other periodicals like Almanak Laemmert were used, paying attention to the development of journalistic companies and the impact on the lives of their workers. In this scenario, the trajectory of the black and socialist reporter Gustavo de Lacerda is treated centrally in this research as part of the process of understanding the centrality of the reporter professional group in the foundation of the most expressive press organizations that emerged at the beginning of the 20th century, the Circulo dos Reporters and the Press Association. Methodological criteria that may serve as a guideline to monetize press photographic collections from their reuse are presented and discussed. ABC (Spain) and The New York Times (USA) were taken as paradigms, and different aspects raised by the information and documentation professionals were considered: quantity and wealth of images, and internal and external demand. Every photographic press fund is susceptible to being monetized, although for its profitability it is necessary to design plans based on specific criteria such as the methodology proposed in this paper, which is based on three phases (prior, intermediate and applicative), and comprises the quantification, qualification, documentary treatment, users typology and dissemination. This text is the result of research that has as its object of study the potential of local and regional History in the teaching and learning of History and an analysis of the commemorative centennial issue of Ituiutaba of the Jornal do Pontal (VI Year, Issue 951 process). From these studies, the paper presents a proposal of a sequence of lessons working in the context of questioning the official story of the city of Ituiutaba, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. It was concluded that work in the classroom with regional and local History to articulate content and methodology, considering the contributions of the theory of History and drawing on multiple views, it is possible to provide students with learning experiences that develop critical insight, creative and transformative. This paper aims to analyze narratives about African-Brazilian beliefs and cultural manifestations as shown in the printing press in Salvador, from 1920 to 1940. The main sources consulted were the newspapers Estado da Bahia, O Imparcial, A Tarde and Diário de Notícias. This timeframe comprehends the gradual change of perception of the press on those manifestations, when religious African-Brazilian festivities are consolidated as identity symbols of the city. The sources enabled the identification of memory homogeneities and discontinuities, as well as the factors of differentiation in the power correlations among groups separated by tenuous social-cultural and religious boundaries. In this paper, I consider implicit meaning in a perspective focusing on explicitation practices, which is also suitable for highlighting its communicative functions, both cognitive and persuasive. I present an outline of my approach, which pays specific attention to how we detect implicit meaning and make it explicit, and to the functions it serves with respect to the overall significance of a text. I illustrate a way of distinguishing between presupposition and implicature that takes into account their modes of explicitation and their functional features. I then examine some varieties of implicit meaning (with the aid of examples from the press or the web): existential presupposition, supplements, Gricean conventional implicature, and conversational implicature according to Relation. These discussions yield some refinements of the initial distinction between presupposition and implicature, which I hope will serve to make it more suitable to the task of matching each variety of implicit meaning with the most appropriate mode of explicitation. Finally, I briefly discuss the potential and the limitations of explicitation practices, suggesting that their exercise can usefully foster the mastery of implicit meaning in everyday contexts too. • Explicitation of implicit meaning maximizes understanding and enables criticism. • For each variety of implicit meaning, explicitation is governed by rules or reasons. • Presupposed contents and implicata serve different functions. • Supplements are functionally closer to presupposition than to implicature. • Conventional implicata amount to conditions of non-central speech acts. This paper reconstructs and examines the participation in public life of the Chilean writer Francisco Bilbao during the early years of his political exile in the Argentine provinces (1857-1859). Its objective is to make a contribution to the studies on Bilbao and on political exile by considering the reasons that led him to choose that fate and examining the conditions that allowed him to play a relevant role in the press and in the associative movement despite being a political exile with revolutionary backgrounds and radical ideas. This text details the entertainment spaces where Delahuertistas and Escobaristas leaders participated during their exile in the United States, in the 1920s and 1930s. Their presence in movies, radio stations and festivals echoed them in the English press (main source for this paper), and in turn helped --consciously or not-- to project an image of the exile, the veteran of the revolution and the Mexican migrant. The protagonists of these exiles worked in the United States on movies, radio stations, newspapers, cultural festivals, theaters, and more, and learned about the practice. Taking into account that the majority of them returned to Mexico, and that some continued with these activities, we propose that the exiles imported cultural capital, which had repercussions on national artistic and cultural movements, such as the era of Mexican gold cinema. • Novelly developed shear-thickening guar gum hydrogel based media for AFM is proposed in this paper. • A new model for the calculation of shear rate under shear-thickening condition is established and validated. • Surface roughness in terms of Ra using this media reduces from 120.12 nm to 6.48 nm, with a mirror surface obtained. • The conclusions show that shear thickening in AFM is an efficient way to develop the polishing efficiency and quality. Abrasive flow machining (AFM) is a non-traditional finishing method by extruding abrasive media through workpieces' surfaces. In AFM process, the machining capacity of traditional shear-thinning media will be reduced with the decline of viscosity at high shear rate condition. Additionally, the environmental-friendly property of traditional oil-soluble media is poor as the recycling of the media is difficult. In this paper, with an attempt to apply shear thickening to AFM, a novel type of guar gum hydrogel based media with shear-thickening property is proposed. To investigate its shear-thickening and finishing performance, a model of identifying the shear-thickening behavior in AFM is established. Results of the validation experiment show that the model can identify and predict the experimental conditions accurately, and the simulation results are approximately some with the model results. Results of AFM experiments show that finely polished surface can be obtained in the AFM process utilizing this new media. Compared with styrene-butadiene rubber based media (traditional shear-thinning media for AFM), guar gum hydrogel based media can obtain a better finished surface under shear-thickening condition. With shear rate increasing from shear-thinning phase to shear-thickening phase, material removal rate for AISI316 stainless steel in the experiment utilizing this new media increases from 69 mg/h to 351 mg/h, and surface roughness in terms of Ra under shear-thickening condition reduces from 120.12 nm to 6.48 nm. This paper looks at the situation first described by Dreyfus (Educ Philos Theory 34(4):369–378, 2002) in his seminal paper, in order to find out whether and, if so, to what extent the use of Internet in education is still characterized by anonymity and commitment in today's social media and 'post-truth' era. Current form of web technology provides an occasion for us to rethink what the Press and the Public, two main Kierkegaardian themes, actually consist in. The very ease and rapidity of how information is shared and the blurring of the line between journalists and consumers have made it very difficult to find where the Public actually is so that one can conform one's own thoughts and beliefs to it. In addition, an effect of social media is that the Public does not seem to be monolithic, but has splintered into many smaller groups, each one overlapping with one another in a highly complex way. In Kierkegaard's time the Press consisted of nothing more than a rather small number of newspapers, but now we have countless number of sources of information, so much so that it is almost impossible to see where the Press actually is. This situation has a way of diluting Kierkegaard's contention that it is the Press that anonymized the people, rending them faceless and eliminating their individuality. Furthermore, the effect of Facebook is such that, not only does one still retain much of one's commitment, but the commitment can be very passionate. As Petrik et al. (Ethics Inf Technol 16:275–284, 2014) have pointed out, it is possible for someone to be passionately committed to something while remaining very active on the Internet. This shows that the direction can go both ways. On the one hand, fragmenting the Public can go along with lack of commitment and other ills that Kierkegaard mentioned. On the other hand, fragmenting the Public, thereby creating many smaller groups existing in the online world (such as Facebook groups) can also bring about specific and well-directed commitments than would be possible if the Public remained a single monolithic entity. Furthermore, Kierkegaard's insistence on lack of commitment by the Public seems to foretell the current malaise of what is known as 'post-truth'. For Dreyfus the Internet is ultimately responsible for this. Indeed, however, both lack of commitment and too much commitment seem to be both responsible. Under the development of digital convergence, more and more mergers and acquisitions are taking place across media industries. In the past few years, most studies on horizontal mergers and acquisitions examine the concentration ratios or on vertical cases concerning entry barriers that block new entrants. Rubber pad pressing is one of advanced materials processing technologies. With the cooperation of both rubber pad and metal mold, the plate is accurately formed into the required shape. Not only the surface of the plate remains a good quality but also the springback is substantially reduced. In this paper, a new kind of two-step channel formed by the rubber pad pressing is researched. Both convex and concave metal molds are considered in the researches. All kinds of geometrical parameters like channel width, edge fillet, depth ratio, and second-step shape are discussed in this paper. In order to obtain a good two-step channel by rubber pad pressing, both FEM and real pressing experiments are done. Based on both FEM and experiment results, channel can be formed by rubber pad pressing with both convex and concave molds. Abstract The challenges facing media cloud mainly come from two aspects, which are data security issues (copyright management and privacy protection) and security risks caused by cloud computing. This paper analyzes the security threats that media cloud faces in providing services, building a "cloud-edge-end" media cloud service hierarchy. For the first time, this paper constructs a security media cloud framework with focus on protecting multimedia data and services. The framework contains three security boundaries, two levels of data storage protection and a security access control protocol adapted to video services. The XXth century gateway cities in Europe, such as Madrid, have followed and in-depth population readjustment, due to the arrival of immigrants from all over the world. This readjustment has left traces in the public spaces of the city; and the media have noted this phenomenon as well. This paper aims at analysing the superdiversity present in Lavapiés, through two different and complementary methodologies: the analyses of the Linguistic Landscape and of press corpora. The analysis of the landscape of the territory will be conducted through a corpus of images or Linguistic Cartography that includes samples of multilingualism present in the area. The press corpora contain news stories, interviews and articles on immigration. These analyses will provide a better picture of the area, in terms of diversity. The paper analyzes the informative coverage of 9 Latin American newspapers on the general election held in Spain on November 10, 2019. This is considered an important event that helped close a turbulent period of the national political life. A content analysis sheet was applied to all texts regarding the campaign appeared between November 1 and 11 (n = 35), considering, among other variables, location, extension, authorship, sources, genres, nature of the content and frame. This article discusses how the precarious lives of poor women were used by the press in Rio de Janeiro during the first years after the promulgation of the Golden Law (Lei Áurea). The Fluminense press, throughout its news production, support-ed aggressive policing and promoted an ideal model of mother and woman worshiped by the new Republic. Based on the analysis of news articles published in the newspaper Gazeta de Notícias during the year 1890, this paper aims to investigate the nuanced approach presented by each journalist/columnist, as well as the valued resources used by the writers/literati in order to assure the reading public`s fidelity. This paper analyses the process of trans-formation that occurred in the press and journalism from Rio de Janeiro, between the 1880s and 1900s. Mainly, the relationship established between the literati and journalistic companies was under investigation, paying attention to the daily newspapers. Also, the attempts of defining journalism as a profession itself were analyzed in pair with the rising importance of the conception of labor to the literary production from lots of men of letters in the period. In 1957, Japan launched its first experimental nuclear reactor, the JRR-1, in Tōkaimura (Ibaraki). The bedrock of the Japanese nuclear industry, it introduced the famed BWR technology--also used in the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant--and the training of the future workers of a flourishing industry. Based on the premise that the Fukushima accident was in part caused by the nuclear village--a system created with the commissioning of JRR-1 reactor in Tōkaimura--this paper analyses how the national newspapers covered the launch of the first Japanese reactor, and how the remaining media records suggest that the Fukushima nuclear accident falls within the continuity of earlier policies. This paper examines the frames in which the Arab - Israeli normalization is presented to the public in the Middle Eastern press. The main purpose of the study is to determine the similarities and differences of the regional powers framing methods of the normalization attempt, and to discover if there is a casual relationship between framing methods and the countries foreign policies. In this direction, the study adopts the "framing" approach as the conceptual basis. For this research, data collection technique and discourse analysis were chosen as qualitative methods in order to analyze the data. The scope of the research consists of news from the media of four regional powers; Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Egypt from August 13, 2020, the day when the joint declaration was signed, to September 15, 2020, the day when the Abraham Accords were signed. The main argument of the study is that the Arab-Israeli normalization is presented in the Middle Eastern media in a reconstructed way, and the regional powers foreign policy determines the way in which the news are framed. The new trend of politically polarized media in Spain has led the authors of this paper to rethink the relationship between media and citizens within selective exposure, perception and retention theory and its influence on electoral behavior. The selection of political information contents by citizens during electoral campaigns forms a diet that influences their votes. Therefore, this research article attempts to clarify the relationship between the consumption of political information from mass media and the voters' electoral behavior amid the new media reality of the country. For this, and per the post-electoral surveys of the Center for Sociological Research (CIS, for its acronym in Spanish), it studies the effects of citizens' media exposure during the 2015 and 2016 general elections on voting. In these years, there was a crisis in the party system in Spain after several decades of bipartisanship and institutional stability. The results allow concluding that the political discussion in the country builds on two lines of confrontation: ideological (left-right) and territorial, which politically polarizes those citizens from territories with their own identity (mainly Catalonia). News about drugs is important for health professionals, businesses, and the general public. However, studies examining news articles about drugs are lacking. This paper uses content analysis to examine articles about drugs in 17 Spanish newspapers (13 general, two business, and two professional) from 2008 through 2017. On average, general and business newspapers published three articles about drugs every week, and professional newspapers published 14 every week. Overall, the number of articles about drugs decreased by 10%. The most covered drug-related topics in 2017 were cancer and generics; the least covered was preclinical research. Four times more articles were published on clinical than on preclinical research. Business newspapers published more about clinical and preclinical research than other types of newspapers. Articles about drugs accounted for 0.5% (n=838/178,926) of all articles in the general newspapers, 0.8% (n=468/55,800) in the business newspapers, 8.5% (n=415/4,856) in the medical newspapers, and 1.2% (n=19/1,645) in the science news agency SINC. This study used a new strategy to search and identify newspaper articles through content analysis of large volumes of information and offered relevant data to guide future research. Nigeria is a developing country with varied developmental challenges. It has one of the worst maternal and child healthcare (MCH) indices, globally. The media, as a vital element within the society, has the potential to contribute to improving MCH through appropriate framing and communication of MCH issues. Achieving media inclusion poses a challenge as media contents are often products of varied power relations. Extant studies have established that health is often not primed in Nigerian newspapers where politics and business hold sway. News media contents are also influenced by varied factors which exists both within and outside of news media organisations. Premised on sociology of news as critical perspective, this study examines power relations in newspaper representation of MCH issues in Nigeria. Combining content analysis of MCH-related stories in newspapers with in-depth interview of newspaper health editors, it explores factors and underlying reasons driving coverage of MCH. It finds that government, local and international aid agencies, and civil societies often influence coverage of MCH issues. These groups drive media representation of MCH through established journalistic routine and reporter-source relations, often favouring priming of official news sources and 'powerful' elements within the society, as a necessity for maximising limited news media resources. This paper identifies various forms in which these groups manipulates media representation of MCH, urging the media to be more proactive in driving agenda for improved MCH for the citizenry, and not accede to satisfying peculiar interests over public interest. This article conducts a mixed-method content analysis of Chinese and American news media coverage of Google DeepMind's Go playing computer program, AlphaGo. Drawing on humanistic approaches to artificial intelligence, combined with an empirically rigorous content analysis, it examines the differences and overlap in coverage by the Chinese and American press in their accounts of AlphaGo, and its historic match with Korea's Lee Sedol in March, 2016. The event was not only followed intensely in China, but also made the front page of The New York Times. This article finds that the Chinese press was more likely than the American press to frame AlphaGo as non-threatening, which the authors attribute to cultural differences and the two countries' different understandings of Go. In addition to quantitatively identifying similarities and differences in the framing of AlphaGo, this paper also investigates the underlying and evolving contestations over what constitutes the "human" and the "machine." Youth transitions to adulthood and traditional markers of adulthood are becoming more fluid, uncertain, and extended in contemporary societies. Despite these shifts, public discourses surrounding young adult transitional trajectories are dominantly informed by a linear benchmark perspective. This framework positions establishing financial autonomy with the goal of permanently leaving the parental home as central to successful adulthood. In this paper, we integrate textual news media and interview data to critically interrogate contemporary public discourses of adulting in tandem with Canadian young adults' subjective understandings of adulthood. We conduct Foucauldian Discourse Analysis (FDA) using two complementary data sources: (1) a selection of Canadian news media addressing youth transitions to adulthood (n = 44), and (2) interviews with Canadian young adults, assessing their perceptions and experiences of adulthood (n = 20). Our findings reveal that media and personalized constructions of successful adulthood are synonymous with financial independence and responsibility. These social norms reflect and shape young adults' subjective meanings of adulthood and inform the ways of being that young people imagine as ideal. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The fine-blanking press, which has been widely used in the sheet-cutting industry, is high-end equipment. The frame is a core component of the fine-blanking press. In this paper, the sensitivity analysis and size optimization method were used to optimize a fine-blanking press frame. First, a shell element model of the frame was established to analyse the mechanical properties of the initial frame. Then, the mathematical expressions for sensitivity analysis and size optimization of the frame were formulated. Based on the established model, the response sensitivities for plate thicknesses were analysed, and a 12.94% weight reduction was achieved through size optimization. Moreover, the effect of material distribution on dynamic performance was investigated. This paper looked at the nature of sourcing stories in the press coverage of the anti-sugar debate and the supermarket industry in the UK. The research design was a mixed-method study founded in an interpretivist epistemology. Content analysis has been conducted on 454 articles from national and regional press and this analysis provided an answer on who influences the news agenda. Qualitative interviews with journalists explored what sources journalists use when selecting and sourcing stories. The findings show that NGOs are regularly used as a source for stories in the British press, while the news agenda is largely driven by the self-interest of journalists, which corresponds with agenda of the NGO Action on Sugar. Journalists also largely rely on contacts when sourcing stories, but NGOs are present in the mind of journalists when deciding how to source stories. This paper deals with the study and the analysis of Metadata in the Algerian Electronic press and measure the extension of its standardization and quality in terms of shape and content.
