In this paper, an analysis of a mathematical model of the coronavirus is carried out by using two fractal-fractional parameters. This dangerous virus infects a person through the mouth, eyes, nose or hands. This makes it so dangerous that no one can get rid of it. One of the main factors contributing to increasing infections of this deadly virus is crowding. We believe that it is necessary to model this effect mathematically to predict the possible outcomes. Hence, the study of neural network-based models related to the spread of this virus can yield new results. This paper also introduces the use of artificial neural networks (ANNs) to approximate the solutions, which is a significant contribution in this regard. We suggest employing this new method to solve a system of integral equations that explain the dynamics of infectious diseases instead of the classical numerical methods. Combining computational technologies and humanities is an ongoing effort aimed at making resources such as texts, images, audio, video, and other artifacts digitally available, searchable, and analyzable. In recent years, deep neural networks (DNN) dominate the field of automatic text analysis and natural language processing (NLP), in some cases presenting a super‐human performance. DNNs are the state‐of‐the‐art machine learning algorithms solving many NLP tasks that are relevant for Digital Humanities (DH) research, such as spell checking, language detection, entity extraction, author detection, question answering, and other tasks. These supervised algorithms learn patterns from a large number of "right" and "wrong" examples and apply them to new examples. However, using DNNs for analyzing the text resources in DH research presents two main challenges: (un)availability of training data and a need for domain adaptation. This paper explores these challenges by analyzing multiple use‐cases of DH studies in recent literature and their possible solutions and lays out a practical decision model for DH experts for when and how to choose the appropriate deep learning approaches for their research. The quality of scientific publications can be measured by quantitative indices such as the h‐index, Source Normalized Impact per Paper, or g‐index. However, these measures lack to explain the function or reasons for citations and the context of citations from citing publication to cited publication. We argue that citation context may be considered while calculating the impact of research work. However, mining citation context from unstructured full‐text publications is a challenging task. In this paper, we compiled a data set comprising 9,518 citations context. We developed a deep learning‐based architecture for citation context classification. Unlike feature‐based state‐of‐the‐art models, our proposed focal‐loss and class‐weight‐aware BiLSTM model with pretrained GloVe embedding vectors use citation context as input to outperform them in multiclass citation context classification tasks. Our model improves on the baseline state‐of‐the‐art by achieving an F1 score of 0.80 with an accuracy of 0.81 for citation context classification. Moreover, we delve into the effects of using different word embeddings on the performance of the classification model and draw a comparison between fastText, GloVe, and spaCy pretrained word embeddings. Accurate prostate segmentation in ultrasound images is crucial for the clinical diagnosis of prostate cancer and for performing image-guided prostate surgery. However, it is challenging to accurately segment the prostate in ultrasound images due to their low signal-to-noise ratio, the low contrast between the prostate and neighboring tissues, and the diffuse or invisible boundaries of the prostate. In this paper, we develop a novel hybrid method for segmentation of the prostate in ultrasound images that generates accurate contours of the prostate from a range of datasets. Our method involves three key steps: (1) application of a principal curve-based method to obtain a data sequence comprising data coordinates and their corresponding projection index; (2) use of the projection index as training input for a fractional-order-based neural network that increases the accuracy of results; and (3) generation of a smooth mathematical map (expressed via the parameters of the neural network) that affords a smooth prostate boundary, which represents the output of the neural network (i.e., optimized vertices) and matches the ground truth contour. Experimental evaluation of our method and several other state-of-the-art segmentation methods on datasets of prostate ultrasound images generated at multiple institutions demonstrated that our method exhibited the best capability. Brain tumors (BTs) are an uncommon but fatal kind of cancer. Therefore, the development of computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) systems for classifying brain tumors in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been the subject of many research papers so far. However, research in this sector is still in its early stage. The ultimate goal of this research is to develop a lightweight effective implementation of the U-Net deep network for use in performing exact real-time segmentation. Moreover, a simplified deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) architecture for the BT classification is presented for automatic feature extraction and classification of the segmented regions of interest (ROIs). Five convolutional layers, rectified linear unit, normalization, and max-pooling layers make up the DCNN's proposed simplified architecture. The introduced method was verified on multimodal brain tumor segmentation (BRATS 2015) datasets. Our experimental results on BRATS 2015 acquired Dice similarity coefficient (DSC) scores, sensitivity, and classification accuracy of 88.8%, 89.4%, and 88.6% for high-grade gliomas. When it comes to segmenting BRATS 2015 BT images, the performance of our proposed CAD framework is on par with existing state-of-the-art methods. However, the accuracy achieved in this study for the classification of BT images has improved upon the accuracy reported in prior studies. Mathematical modeling of many natural and physical phenomena in industry, engineering sciences and basic sciences lead to linear and non-linear devices. In many cases, the coefficients of these devices, taking into account qualitative or linguistic concepts, show their complexity in the form of Z-numbers. Since Z-number involves both fuzziness and reliability or probabilistic uncertainty, it is difficult to obtain the exact solution to the problems with Z-number. In this work, a method and an algorithm are proposed for the approximate solution of a Z-number linear system of equations as an important case of such problems. The paper is devoted to solving linear systems where the coefficients of the variables and right hand side values are Z-numbers. An algorithm is presented based on a ranking scheme and the neural network technique to solve the obtained system. The nanoindentation technique is employed to characterize the behaviors of biomaterials. Nevertheless, there is a lack of development of a miniaturized precise positioner for in situ nanoindentation. Besides, modeling behaviors of the positioner are restricted due to its complex kinematic characteristics. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel compliant two degrees of freedom (dof) stage for positioning a biomaterial sample in in situ nanoindentation. In addition, a new modeling and dimensional optimization synthesis method of the stage is developed. The proposed effective methodology is developed based on a kinetostatic analysis-based calculation method, the Lagrange approach, and a neural network algorithm. With an increased advance in artificial intelligence, a neural network algorithm is proposed to extend the applicability of artificial neural networks in optimizing the parameters of the stage. First, the 2-dof stage is built via a combination of an eight-lever displacement amplifier and a symmetric parallelogram mechanism. Second, a chain of mathematical equations of the 2-dof stage is constructed using a kinetostatic analysis-based method to calculate the ratio of displacement amplification and the input stiffness of the 2-dof stage. Then, the Lagrange method is utilized to formulate the dynamic equation of the 2-dof stage. Finally, a neural network algorithm is adopted to maximize the natural first frequency of the proposed stage. The optimal results determined that the frequency of the stage can achieve a high value of 112.0995 Hz. As the competition between enterprises intensifies, employees have witnessed a decline of psychological health year by year and severe anxiety and depression. To ensure the normal work of employees, it is important to implement psychological occupational therapy intervention (POTI). The previous studies on corporate occupational values focus on the behavioral variables and attitude variables related to occupations. The research paradigm does not suit a specific group of employees. Therefore, this paper explores the individual differences in POTI guided by the realization of occupational values. For a specific group of employees, the correlations of the psychological problems with job attitude, job involvement, and psychological health level were reasoned logically, a theoretical model was established, and the full-model map was plotted to illustrate the influence of the realization of occupational values over POTI. Then, the evaluation data on the psychological intervention effect of 2,800 employees were explored based on multikernel learning, and an individual difference prediction model was constructed through multikernel learning. In view of the poor performance of the original mathematical model of assembly construction project precost budget, a mathematical model of assembly construction project precost budget based on improved neural network algorithm is proposed. This paper investigates the cost content of assembly construction project and analyzes its early cost. It finds that the early cost of assembly construction project includes component production cost, transportation component cost, and installation component cost. Based on the improved neural network algorithm to build an improved neural network model, the improved neural network model to mine the cost data in the early stage of assembly construction project is used. In this paper, the earned value variable is introduced to transform the project duration and project cost in the early stage of the prefabricated construction project into quantifiable cost data, and the earned value analysis method is used to estimate the implementation cost of the prefabricated construction project. According to the result of cost estimation, the mathematical model of precost budget of prefabricated construction project is built based on the project parameters. In order to prove that the cost budget performance of the mathematical model based on the improved neural network algorithm in the early stage of assembly construction project is better, the original mathematical model is compared with the mathematical model, the experimental results show that the cost budget performance of the model is better than the original model, and the cost budget performance is improved. Automatic image annotation aims to predict labels for images according to their semantic contents and has become a research focus in computer vision, as it helps people to edit, retrieve and understand large image collections. In the last decades, researchers have proposed many approaches to solve this task and achieved remarkable performance on several standard image datasets. In this paper, we propose a novel learning to rank approach to address image auto-annotation problem. Unlike typical learning to rank algorithms for image auto-annotation which directly rank annotations for image, our approach consists of two phases. In the first phase, neural ranking models are trained to rank image’s semantic neighbors. Then nearest-neighbor based models propagate annotations from these semantic neighbors to the image. Thus our approach integrates learning to rank algorithms and nearest-neighbor based models, including TagProp and 2PKNN, and inherits their advantages. Experimental results show that our method achieves better or comparable performance compared with the state-of-the-art methods on four challenging benchmarks including Corel5K, ESP Games, IAPR TC-12 and NUS-WIDE. In this paper, the problem of temperature distribution for convective straight fins with constant and temperature-dependent thermal conductivity is solved by using artificial neural networks trained by the biogeography-based heterogeneous cuckoo search (BHCS) algorithm. We have solved the integer and noninteger order energy balance equation in order to analyse the temperature distribution in convective straight fins. We have compared our results with homotopy perturbation method (HPM), variational iteration method (VIM), and homotopy perturbation Sumudu transform method (HPSTM). The results show that the ANN–BHCS algorithm gives better results than other analytical techniques. We have further checked the efficiency of the ANN–BHCS algorithm by using the performance metrics MAD, TIC, and ENSE. The spiculation sign is one of the main signs to distinguish benign and malignant pulmonary nodules. In order to effectively extract the image feature of a pulmonary nodule for the spiculation sign distinguishment, a new spiculation sign recognition model is proposed based on the doctors' diagnosis process of pulmonary nodules. A maximum density projection model is established to fuse the local three-dimensional information into the two-dimensional image. The complete boundary of a pulmonary nodule is extracted by the improved Snake model, which can take full advantage of the parallel calculation of the Spike Neural P Systems to build a new neural network structure. In this paper, our experiments show that the proposed algorithm can accurately extract the boundary of a pulmonary nodule and effectively improve the recognition rate of the spiculation sign. This paper investigates the data-based optimal control for a class of networked industrial processes with a double-layer architecture. Without knowing the dynamics of subsystems at the device layer, the index prediction function is constructed via the input/output signals, and radial basis function neural networks. The tuning laws for the index prediction function are obtained through the optimal control strategy. Then, by treating the network-induced phenomenon as random round-trip time delay and introducing the predictive algorithm, the compensation scheme is designed at the operation layer to dynamically decompose the setpoints. Background: Although Pneumatic Artificial Muscle (PAM) has a promising future in rehabilitation robots, it's difficult to realize accurate position control due to its highly nonlinear properties.Objective: This paper deals with position control of PAM.Methods: To describe the hysteresis inside PAM, a polynomial based phenomenological function is developed. Based on the phenomenological model for PAM and analysis of pressure dynamics within PAM, an adaptive cascade controller is proposed. Both outer loop and inner loop employ BP Neural Network tuned PID algorithm. The outer loop is to handle high nonlinearities and unmodeled dynamics of PAM, while the inner loop is responsible for nonlinearities caused by pressure dynamics.Results: Experimental results show high tracking accuracy as compared with a convention PID controller.Conclusion: The proposed controller is effective in improving performance of PAM and will be implemented in a rehabilitation robot. Cardiac digital twins provide a physics and physiology informed framework to deliver personalized medicine. However, high-fidelity multi-scale cardiac models remain a barrier to adoption due to their extensive computational costs. Artificial Intelligence-based methods can make the creation of fast and accurate whole-heart digital twins feasible. We use Latent Neural Ordinary Differential Equations (LNODEs) to learn the pressure-volume dynamics of a heart failure patient. Our surrogate model is trained from 400 simulations while accounting for 43 parameters describing cell-to-organ cardiac electromechanics and cardiovascular hemodynamics. LNODEs provide a compact representation of the 3D-0D model in a latent space by means of an Artificial Neural Network that retains only 3 hidden layers with 13 neurons per layer and allows for numerical simulations of cardiac function on a single processor. We employ LNODEs to perform global sensitivity analysis and parameter estimation with uncertainty quantification in 3 hours of computations, still on a single processor. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, we have proposed an algorithm to design Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) structures using Genetic Alghorithms (GAs) that are able to learn the best CNN architecture in a completely automatic manner based on limited computing resources. A coding strategy based on sophisticated, hand- designed, modern network blocks has been proposed. So that, the proposed algorithm does not require users with prior knowledge of CNNs, the problem being addressed or even GAs. The performance of the proposed algorithm was evaluated by conducting a series of experiments with widely used reference datasets for image classification tasks and comparing results with modern algorithms that have shown promising performance in this field. The experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm can be used to automatically find a competitive CNN structure compared to modern models, as this algorithm achieved the best classification accuracy among manually and automatically designed CNNs as well as competitive classification accuracy for semi-automatic algorithms. In this paper, neural algorithms, including the multi-layered perceptron (MLP) differential approximator, generalized hybrid power series, discrete Hopfield neural network, and the hybrid numerical, are used for constructing models that incorporate a priori knowledge in the form of differential equations for dynamic engineering processes. The properties of these approaches are discussed and compared to each other in terms of efficiency and accuracy. The presented algorithms have a number of advantages over other traditional mesh-based methods such as reduction of the computational cost, speed up of the execution time, and data integration with the a priori knowledge. Furthermore, the presented techniques are applicable when the differential equations governing a system or dynamic engineering process are not fully understood. The proposed algorithms learn to compute the unknown or free parameters of the equation from observations of the process behavior, hence a more precise theoretical description of the process is obtained. Additionally, there will be no need to solve the differential equation each time the free parameters change. This paper introduces a new algorithm for solving ordinary differential equations (ODEs) with initial or boundary conditions. In our proposed method, the trial solution of differential equation has been used in the regression-based neural network (RBNN) model for single input and single output system. The artificial neural network (ANN) trial solution of ODE is written as sum of two terms, first one satisfies initial/boundary conditions and contains no adjustable parameters. The second part involves a RBNN model containing adjustable parameters. Network has been trained using the initial weights generated by the coefficients of regression fitting. We have used feed-forward neural network and error back propagation algorithm for minimizing error function. Proposed model has been tested for first, second and fourth-order ODEs. This paper presents a competitive co-evolutionary (ComCoE) that engages a double elimination tournament (DET) to evolve artificial neural networks (ANNs) for undertaking data classification problems. The proposed model performs a global search by a ComCoE approach to find near optimal solutions. During the global search process, two populations of different ANNs compete and fitness evaluation of each ANN is made in a subjective manner based on their participations throughout a DET which promotes competitive interactions among individual ANNs. The adaptation and fitness evaluation processes drive the global search for a more competent ANN classifier. A winning ANN is identified from the global search. Then, the Scaled Conjugate Backpropagation algorithm, which is a local search, is performed to further train the winning ANN to obtain a precise solution. The performance of the proposed classification model is evaluated rigorously; its performance is compared with the baseline ANNs of the proposed model as well as other classifiers. The objective of this paper is to propose a generalized approach to state-feedback stabilization of interconnected fuzzy systems. The proposed algorithms, which are formulated within the convex optimization framework, provide decentralized solutions to the problem of asymptotic stability with strict dissipativity. It is established that the new methodology can reproduce earlier results on passivity, positive realness, and disturbance attenuation. Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) is a medical surveillance system comprised of connected devices, healthcare sensor systems, wireless communications, computer hardware, and software implementations. AAL could be used for an extensive variety of purposes, comprising preventing, healing, as well as improving the health and wellness of elderly individuals. AAL intends to ensure the wellbeing of elderly persons while also spanning the number of years seniors can remain independent in their preferred surroundings. It also decreases the quantity of family caregivers by giving patients control over their health situations. To avert huge costs as well as possible adverse effects on standard of living, classifiers must be used to distinguish between adopters as well as nonadopters of such innovations. With the development of numerous classification algorithms, selecting the best classifier became a vital and challenging step in technology acceptance. Decision makers must consider several criteria from different domains when selecting the best classifier. Furthermore, it is critical to define the best multicriteria decision-making strategy for modelling technology acceptance. Considering the foregoing, this research reports the incorporation of the multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) method which is founded on the fuzzy method for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) to identify the top classifier for continuing toward supporting AAL implementation research. Deep neural networks (DNNs) have now demonstrated state-of-the-art detection performance on pedestrian datasets. However, because of their high computational complexity, detection efficiency is still a frustrating problem even with the help of Graphics Processing Units (GPUs). To improve detection efficiency, this paper proposes to share features across a group of DNNs that correspond to pedestrian models of different sizes. By sharing features, the computational burden for extracting features from an image pyramid can be significantly reduced. Simultaneously, we can detect pedestrians of several different scales on one single layer of an image pyramid. Furthermore, the improvement of detection efficiency is achieved with negligible loss of detection accuracy. Experimental results demonstrate the robustness and efficiency of the proposed algorithm. In this paper, we propose a new Internet of Things (IoT) based predictive modelling by using fuzzy cluster based augmentation and classification for predicting the lung cancer disease through continuous monitoring and also to improve the healthcare by providing medical instructions. Here, the fuzzy clustering method is used and which is based on transition region extraction for effective image segmentation. Moreover, Fuzzy C-Means Clustering algorithm is used to categorize the transitional region features from the feature of lung cancer image. In this work, Otsu thresholding method is used for extracting the transition region from lung cancer image. Moreover, the right edge image and the morphological thinning operation are used for enhancing the performance of segmentation. In addition, the morphological cleaning and the image region filling operations are performed over an edge lung cancer image for getting the object regions. In addition, we also propose a new incremental classification algorithm which combines the existing Association Rule Mining (ARM), the standard Decision Tree (DT) with temporal features and the CNN. The experiments have been conducted by using the standard images that are collected from database and the current health data which are collected from patient through IoT devices. In this paper, the problem of multi-scale geospatial object detection in High Resolution Remote Sensing Images (HRRSI) is tackled. The different flight heights, shooting angles and sizes of geographic objects in the HRRSI lead to large scale variance in geographic objects. The inappropriate anchor size to propose the objects and the indiscriminative ability of features for describing the objects are the main causes of missing detection and false detection in multi-scale geographic object detection. To address these challenges, we propose a class-specific anchor based and context-guided multi-class object detection method with a convolutional neural network (CNN), which can be divided into two parts: a class-specific anchor based region proposal network (RPN) and a discriminative feature with a context information classification network. A class-specific anchor block providing better initial values for RPN is proposed to generate the anchor of the most suitable scale for each category in order to increase the recall ratio. Meanwhile, we proposed to incorporate the context information into the original convolutional feature to improve the discriminative ability of the features and increase classification accuracy. Considering the quality of samples for classification, the soft filter is proposed to select effective boxes to improve the diversity of the samples for the classifier and avoid missing or false detection to some extent. We also introduced the focal loss in order to improve the classifier in classifying the hard samples. The proposed method is tested on a benchmark dataset of ten classes to prove the superiority. The proposed method outperforms some state-of-the-art methods with a mean average precision (mAP) of 90.4% and better detects the multi-scale objects, especially when objects show a minor shape change. This paper proposes an algorithm for creating rules of a fuzzy logic system using a neuro-fuzzy approach. The proposal is based on the results of Juang and Tsao who use a Fuzzy Neural Network (FNN) to generate rules and fuzzy sets from input data. Input Variable Selection (IVS) is an essential step in the development of data-driven models and is particularly relevant in environmental modelling. While new methods for identifying important model inputs continue to emerge, each has its own advantages and limitations and no single method is best suited to all datasets and modelling purposes. Rigorous evaluation of new and existing input variable selection methods would allow the effectiveness of these algorithms to be properly identified in various circumstances. However, such evaluations are largely neglected due to the lack of guidelines or precedent to facilitate consistent and standardised assessment. In this paper, a new framework is proposed for the evaluation and inter-comparison of IVS methods which takes into account: (1) a wide range of dataset properties that are relevant to real world environmental data, (2) assessment criteria selected to highlight algorithm suitability in different situations of interest, and (3) a website for sharing data, algorithms and results ( http://ivs4em.deib.polimi.it/ ). The framework is demonstrated on four IVS algorithms commonly used in environmental modelling studies and twenty-six datasets exhibiting different typical properties of environmental data. The main aim at this stage is to demonstrate the application of the proposed evaluation framework, rather than provide a definitive answer as to which of these algorithms has the best overall performance. Abstract: Achieving a low Noise-to-Signal Ratio (NSR) is one of the major concerns when implementing hardware-based neural networks. Continuous Valued Number System (CVNS) features have been exploited to improve the NSR. The efficiency of the network model in terms of area, power consumption, and NSR is measured using the product of the total number of neurons in the network multiplied by the network NSR, which indicates the number of neurons required for a specific NSR. The network proposed in this paper stores the weights in digital registers while the processing is done in the analog domain using CVNS arithmetic. The mathematical analysis and comparison between the proposed network and the previous structures prove that the proposed architecture improves upon in terms of both the NSR and the product of neuron multiplied by NSR. Driving a vehicle with a passive trailer has been the subject of numerous studies. Current control strategies are mostly used by differential geometry, linear algebra, fuzzy regulators, and artificial neural networks. The objective of this study is to design an algorithm for autonomous control of the tractor-trailer system reversing based on an algorithm using a PSD controller and to verify it on a simulated mathematical model. All parameters listed in the models and experiments are performed based on the existing tractor-trailer system. Dynamic models of steering and velocity control were identified and incorporated into the simulation. Result includes a stable operation of the steering without oscillating. Due to insufficient samples, the generalization performance of deep network is insufficient. In order to solve this problem, an improved U-net based image automatic segmentation and diagnosis algorithm was proposed, in which the max-pooling operation in original U-net model was replaced by the convolution operation to keep more feature information. Firstly, the regions of 128×128 were extracted from all slices of the patients as data samples. Secondly, the patient samples were divided into training sample set and testing sample set, and data augmentation was performed on the training samples. Finally, all the training samples were adopted to train the model. Compared with Fully Convolutional Network (FCN) model and max-pooling based U-net model, DSC and CR coefficients of the proposed method achieve the best results, while PM coefficient is 2.55 percentage lower than the maximum value in the two comparison models, and Average Symmetric Surface Distance is slightly higher than the minimum value of the two comparison models by 0.004. Due to the continuous progress in the field of vehicle hardware, the condition that a vehicle cannot load a complex algorithm no longer exists. At the same time, with the progress in the field of vehicle hardware, a number of studies have reported exponential growth in the actual operation. To solve the problem for a large number of data transmissions in an actual operation, wireless transmission is proposed for text information (including position information) on the basis of the principles of the maximum entropy probability and the neural network prediction model combined with the optimization of the Huffman encoding algorithm, from the exchange of data to the entire data extraction process. The test results showed that the text-type vehicle information based on a compressed algorithm to optimize the algorithm of data compression and transmission could effectively realize the data compression, achieve a higher compression rate and data transmission integrity, and after decompression guarantee no distortion. Therefore, it is important to improve the efficiency of vehicle information transmission, to ensure the integrity of information, to realize the vehicle monitoring and control, and to grasp the traffic situation in real time. The ultraviolet spectrophotometric method is often used for determining the content of glycyrrhizic acid from Chinese herbal medicine Glycyrrhiza glabra. Based on the traditional single variable approach, four extraction parameters of ammonia concentration, ethanol concentration, circumfluence time, and liquid-solid ratio are adopted as the independent extraction variables. In the present work, central composite design of four factors and five levels is applied to design the extraction experiments. Subsequently, the prediction models of response surface methodology, artificial neural networks, and genetic algorithm-artificial neural networks are developed to analyze the obtained experimental data, while the genetic algorithm is utilized to find the optimal extraction parameters for the above well-established models. It is found that the optimization of extraction technology is presented as ammonia concentration 0.595%, ethanol concentration 58.45%, return time 2.5 h, and liquid-solid ratio 11.065 : 1. Under these conditions, the model predictive value is 381.24 mg, the experimental average value is 376.46 mg, and the expectation discrepancy is 4.78 mg. For the first time, a comparative study of these three approaches is conducted for the evaluation and optimization of the effects of the extraction independent variables. Furthermore, it is demonstrated that the combinational method of genetic algorithm and artificial neural networks provides a more reliable and more accurate strategy for design and optimization of glycyrrhizic acid extraction from Glycyrrhiza glabra. Background: The QRS complex is the most noticeable feature in the electrocardiogram (ECG) signal, therefore, its detection is critical for ECG signal analysis. The existing detection methods largely depend on hand-crafted manual features and parameters, which may introduce significant computational complexity, especially in the transform domains. In addition, fixed features and parameters are not suitable for detecting various kinds of QRS complexes under different circumstances.Methods: In this study, based on 1-D convolutional neural network (CNN), an accurate method for QRS complex detection is proposed. The CNN consists of object-level and part-level CNNs for extracting different grained ECG morphological features automatically. All the extracted morphological features are used by multi-layer perceptron (MLP) for QRS complex detection. Additionally, a simple ECG signal preprocessing technique which only contains difference operation in temporal domain is adopted.Results: Based on the MIT-BIH arrhythmia (MIT-BIH-AR) database, the proposed detection method achieves overall sensitivity Sen = 99.77%, positive predictivity rate PPR = 99.91%, and detection error rate DER = 0.32%. In addition, the performance variation is performed according to different signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) values.Conclusions: An automatic QRS detection method using two-level 1-D CNN and simple signal preprocessing technique is proposed for QRS complex detection. A new approach to automatic solar disk state detection by all-sky images using machine learning methods is developed and implemented. The efficiency of the most widely used machine learning algorithms is analyzed. The effect of reducing the dimensionality of the feature space on the classification accuracy is estimated. The multilayer artificial neural network model has shown the best accuracy in terms of the true score. Artificial neural networks are sophisticated modelling and prediction tools capable of extracting complex, non-linear relationships between predictor (input) and predicted (output) variables. This study explores this capacity by modelling non-linearities in the hardiness-modulated burnout process with a neural network. Specifically, two multi-layer feed-forward artificial neural networks are concatenated in an attempt to model the composite non-linear burnout process. Sensitivity analysis, a Monte Carlo–based global simulation technique, is then utilised to examine the first-order effects of the predictor variables on the burnout sub-dimensions and consequences. Results show that (1) this concatenated artificial neural network approach is feasible to model the burnout process, (2) sensitivity analysis is a prolific method to study the relative importance of predictor variables and (3) the relationships among variables involved in the development of burnout and its consequences are to different degrees non-linear.
