This study proposes a novel fractional discrete-time macroeconomic system with incommensurate order. The dynamical behavior of the proposed macroeconomic model is investigated analytically and numerically. In particular, the zero equilibrium point stability is investigated to demonstrate that the discrete macroeconomic system exhibits chaotic behavior. Through using bifurcation diagrams, phase attractors, the maximum Lyapunov exponent and the 0–1 test, we verified that chaos exists in the new model with incommensurate fractional orders. Additionally, a complexity analysis is carried out utilizing the approximation entropy (ApEn) and C 0 complexity to prove that chaos exists. Fractional order maps are a hot research topic; many new mathematical models are suitable for developing new applications in different areas of science and engineering. In this paper, a new class of a 2D fractional hyperchaotic map is introduced using the Caputo-like difference operator. The hyperchaotic map has no equilibrium and lines of equilibrium points, depending on the values of the system parameters. All of the chaotic attractors generated by the proposed fractional map are hidden. The system dynamics are analyzed via bifurcation diagrams, Lyapunov exponents, and phase portraits for different values of the fractional order. The results show that the fractional map has rich dynamical behavior, including hidden homogeneous multistability and offset boosting. The paper also illustrates a novel theorem, which assures that two hyperchaotic fractional discrete systems achieve synchronized dynamics using very simple linear control laws. In this paper, we study the dynamics and control of a Caputo fractional difference form of the Duffing map. We use phase plots, bifurcation diagrams, and Lyapunov exponents to establish the existence of chaos over a wide range of fractional orders and examine the nature of the dynamics. Also, we present the 0–1 test to detect chaos and C 0 complexity, which is an alternative nonlinear statistical measure that can quantify the regularity of a time series. In addition, we measure the approximate entropy to see the performance of our numerical results. Through phase plots and bifurcation diagrams, it is shown that the proposed fractional map exhibits a range of different dynamical behaviors including chaos and coexisting attractors. A one-dimensional feedback stabilization controller is proposed. The asymptotic convergence of the proposed controller is established by means of the stability theory of linear fractional order discrete-time systems. In this paper, we propose two control strategies for the Q–S synchronization of fractional-order discrete-time chaotic systems. Assuming that the dimension of the response system m is higher than that of the drive system n, the first control scheme achieves n-dimensional synchronization whereas the second deals with the m-dimensional case. This paper is concerned with the co-existence of different synchronization types for fractional-order discrete-time chaotic systems with different dimensions. In particular, we show that through appropriate nonlinear control, projective synchronization (PS), full state hybrid projective synchronization (FSHPS), and generalized synchronization (GS) can be achieved simultaneously. A second nonlinear control scheme is developed whereby inverse full state hybrid projective synchronization (IFSHPS) and inverse generalized synchronization (IGS) are shown to co-exist. In this paper, we introduce two approaches to the generalized synchronized synchronization and the inverse generalized synchronization of fractional discrete-time chaotic systems with non-identical dimensions. The convergence of the proposed approaches is established by means of recently developed stability theory. Numerical results are presented based on well-known maps in the literature.
