In 2019, the infectious coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was first reported in Wuhan, China. It has then become a public health problem in the world. This pandemic is having a heavy impact on the lives of people in our country. All countries are trying to control the spread of this disease. To solve the problem, each person needs to wear masks in a public place. Therefore, we propose a model capable of distinguishing between masked and nonmasked faces using a convolutional neural network (CNN) based on deep learning (DL)—MobileNetV2 in this paper. The model can detect people who are not wearing masks. It has an accuracy of up to 99.37%. The model will be applied in places such as schools, offices, and so on to monitor the wearing masks. A bacterial infection in the lungs can cause viral pneumonia, a disease. Later the middle of December 2019, there have been multiple episodes of pneumonia in Wuhan City, China, with no known cause; it has since been discovered that this pneumonia is actually a new respiratory condition brought on by coronavirus infection. Humans who have lung abnormalities are more likely to develop high-risk conditions; this risk can be decreased with much quicker and more effective therapy. The symptoms of Covid-19 pneumonia are similar to those of viral pneumonia; they are not distinctive. X-ray or Computed Tomography (CT) scan images are used to identify lung abnormalities. Coronavirus is considered the first virus to sweep the world in the twenty-first century, it appeared by the end of 2019. It started in the Chinese city of Wuhan and began to spread in different regions around the world too quickly and uncontrollable due to the lack of medical examinations and their inefficiency. Therefore, this paper presents an automated methodology based on deep learning in diagnosing COVID-19. In this paper, the proposed system is using a convolutional neural network, which is considered one of the mostly prominent techniques used today for its reliability and ability to generate rapid results. Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is started from Wuhan (City in China), and is rapidly spreading among people living in other countries. Today, around 215 countries are affected by COVID-19 disease. WHO announced approximately number of cases 11,274,600 worldwide. Due to rapidly rising cases daily in the hospitals, there are a limited number of resources available to control COVID-19 disease. Therefore, it is essential to develop an accurate diagnosis of COVID-19 disease. Early diagnosis of COVID-19 patients is important for preventing the disease from spreading to others. In this paper, we proposed a deep learning based approach that can differentiate COVID- 19 disease patients from viral pneumonia, bacterial pneumonia, and healthy (normal) cases. In this approach, deep transfer learning is adopted. We used binary and multi-class dataset which is categorized in four types for experimentation: (i) Collection of 728 X-ray images including 224 images with confirmed COVID-19 disease and 504 normal condition images (ii) Collection of 1428 X-ray images including 224 images with confirmed COVID-19 disease, 700 images with confirmed common bacterial pneumonia, and 504 normal condition images. (iii) Collections of 1442 X- ray images including 224 images with confirmed COVID-19 disease, 714 images with confirmed bacterial and viral pneumonia, and 504 images of normal conditions (iv) Collections of 5232 X- ray images including 2358 images with confirmed bacterial and 1345 with viral pneumonia, and 1346 images of normal conditions. In this paper, we have used nine convolutional neural network based architecture (AlexNet, GoogleNet, ResNet-50, Se-ResNet-50, DenseNet121, Inception V4, Inception ResNet V2, ResNeXt-50, and Se-ResNeXt-50). Experimental results indicate that the pre trained model Se-ResNeXt-50 achieves the highest classification accuracy of 99.32% for binary class and 97.55% for multi-class among all pre-trained models. The coronavirus pandemic started in Wuhan, China in December 2019, and put millions of people in a difficult situation. This fatal virus spread to over 227 countries and the number of infected patients increased to over 400 million cases, causing over 6 million deaths worldwide. Due to the serious consequence of this virus, it is necessary to develop a detection method that can respond quickly to prevent the spreading of COVID-19. Using chest X-ray images to detect COVID-19 is one of the promising techniques; however, with a large number of COVID-19 infected cases every day, the number of radiologists available to diagnose the chest X-ray images is not sufficient. We must have a computer aid system that helps doctors instantly and automatically determine COVID-19 cases. Recently, with the emergence of deep learning methods applied for medical and biomedical uses, using convolutional neural net and transformer applications for chest X-ray images can be a supplement for COVID-19 testing. In this paper, we attempt to classify three types of chest X-ray, which are normal, pneumonia, and COVID-19 using deep learning methods on a customized dataset. We also carry out an experiment on the COVID-19 severity assessment task using a tailored dataset. Five deep learning models were obtained to conduct our experiments: DenseNet121, ResNet50, InceptionNet, Swin Transformer, and Hybrid EfficientNet-DOLG neural networks. COVID-19, a deadly disease that originated in Wuhan, China, has resulted in a global outbreak. Patients infected with the causative virus SARS-CoV-2 are placed in quarantine, so the virus does not spread. The medical community has not discovered any vaccine that can be immediately used on patients infected with SARS-CoV-2. The only method discovered so far to protect people from this virus is keeping a distance from other people, wearing masks and gloves, as well as regularly washing and sanitizing hands. Government and law enforcement agencies are involved in banning the movement of people in different cities, to control the spread and monitor people following the guidelines of the CDC. But it is not possible for the government to monitor all places, such as shopping malls, hospitals, government offices, and banks, and guide people to follow the safety guidelines. In this paper, a novel technique is developed that can guide people to protect themselves from someone who has high exposure to the virus or has symptoms of COVID-19, such as having fever and coughing. First outbreak of COVID-19 was in the city of Wuhan in China in Dec.2019 and then it becomes a pandemic disease all around the world. World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed more than 5.5 million cases and 341,155 deaths from the disease till the time of writing this paper. This new worldwide disease forced researchers to make more precise way to diagnose COVID-19. In the last decade, medical imaging techniques show its efficiency in helping radiologists to detect and diagnose the diseases. Deep learning and transfer learning algorithms are good techniques to detect disease from different image source types such as X-Ray and CT scan images. In this work we used a deep learning technique based on Convolution Neural Network (CNN) to detect and diagnose COVID-19 disease using Chest X-ray images. Moreover, the modified AlexNet architecture is proposed in different scenarios were differing from each other in terms of the type of the pooling layers and/or the number of the neurons that have used in the second fully connected layer. The used chest Xray images are gathered from two COVID-19 X-ray image datasets and one dataset includes large number of normal and pneumonia X-ray images. In the late December of 2019, a novel coronavirus was discovered in Wuhan, China. In March 2020, WHO announced this epidemic had become a global pandemic and that the novel coronavirus may be mild to most people. However, some people may experience a severe illness that results in hospitalization or maybe death. COVID-19 classification remains challenging due to the ambiguity and similarity with other known respiratory diseases such as SARS, MERS, and other viral pneumonia. The typical symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, cough, chills, shortness of breath, loss of smell and taste, headache, sore throat, chest pains, confusion, and diarrhoea. This research paper suggests the concept of transfer learning using the deterministic algorithm in all binary classification models and evaluates the performance of various CNN architectures. The datasets of 746 CT images of COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 were divided for training, validation, and testing. Various augmentation techniques were applied to increase the number of datasets except for testing images. The images were then pretrained using CNN to obtain a binary class. ResNeXt101 and ResNet152 have the best F1 score of 0.978 and 0.938, whereas GoogleNet has an F1 score of 0.762. ResNeXt101 and ResNet152 have an accuracy of 97.81% and 93.80%. ResNeXt101, DenseNet201, and ResNet152 have 95.71%, 93.81%, and 90% sensitivity, whereas ResNeXt101, ResNet101, and ResNet152 have 100%, 99.58%, and 98.33 specificity, respectively. The mortality risk factors for coronavirus disease (COVID‐19) must be early predicted, especially for severe cases, to provide intensive care before they develop to critically ill immediately. This paper aims to develop an optimized convolution neural network (CNN) for predicting mortality risk factors for COVID‐19 patients. The proposed model supports two types of input data clinical variables and the computed tomography (CT) scans. The features are extracted from the optimized CNN phase and then applied to the classification phase. The CNN model's hyperparameters were optimized using a proposed genetic‐based adaptive momentum estimation (GB‐ADAM) algorithm. The GB‐ADAM algorithm employs the genetic algorithm (GA) to optimize Adam optimizer's configuration parameters, consequently improving the classification accuracy. The model is validated using three recent cohorts from New York, Mexico, and Wuhan, consisting of 3055, 7497,504 patients, respectively. The results indicated that the most significant mortality risk factors are: CD 8+ T Lymphocyte (Count), D‐dimer greater than 1 Ug/ml, high values of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), C‐reactive protein (CRP), hypertension, and diabetes. Early identification of these factors would help the clinicians in providing immediate care. The results also show that the most frequent COVID‐19 signs in CT scans included ground‐glass opacity (GGO), followed by crazy‐paving pattern, consolidations, and the number of lobes. Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection was initially acknowledged as a global pandemic in Wuhan in China. World Health Organization (WHO) stated that the COVID-19 is an epidemic that causes a 3.4% death rate. Chest X-Ray (CXR) and Computerized Tomography (CT) screening of infected persons are essential in diagnosis applications. There are numerous ways to identify positive COVID-19 cases. One of the fundamental ways is radiology imaging through CXR, or CT images. The comparison of CT and CXR scans revealed that CT scans are more effective in the diagnosis process due to their high quality. Hence, automated classification techniques are required to facilitate the diagnosis process. Deep Learning (DL) is an effective tool that can be utilized for detection and classification this type of medical images. The deep Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) can learn and extract essential features from different medical image datasets. In this paper, a CNN architecture for automated COVID-19 detection from CXR and CT images is offered. Three activation functions as well as three optimizers are tested and compared for this task. The proposed architecture is built from scratch and the COVID-19 image datasets are directly fed to train it. The performance is tested and investigated on the CT and CXR datasets. Three activation functions: Tanh, Sigmoid, and ReLU are compared using a constant learning rate and different batch sizes. Different optimizers are studied with different batch sizes and a constant learning rate. Finally, a comparison between different combinations of activation functions and optimizers is presented, and the optimal configuration is determined. Hence, the main objective is to improve the detection accuracy of COVID-19 from CXR and CT images using DL by employing CNNs to classify medical COVID-19 images in an early stage. The proposed model achieves a classification accuracy of 91.67% on CXR image dataset, and a classification accuracy of 100% on CT dataset with training times of 58 min and 46 min on CXR and CT datasets, respectively. Recently coronavirus 2019 (COVID-2019), discovered in Wuhan city of China in December 2019 announced as world pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO). It has catastrophic impacts on daily lives, public health, and the global economy. The detection of coronavirus (COVID− 19) is now a critical task for medical specialists. Laboratory methods for detecting the virus such as Polymerase Chain Reaction, antigens, and antibodies have pros and cons represented in time required to obtain results, accuracy, cost and suitability of the test to phase of infection. The need for accurate, fast, and cheap auxiliary diagnostic tools has become a necessity as there are no accurate automated toolkits available. Other medical investigations such as chest X−ray and Computerized Tomography scans are imaging techniques that play an important role in the diagnosis of COVID− 19 virus. Application of advanced artificial intelligence techniques for processing radiological imaging can be helpful for the accurate detection of this virus. However, Due to the small dataset available for COVID− 19, transfer learning from pre−trained convolution neural networks, CNNs can be used as a promising solution for diagnosis of coronavirus. Transfer learning becomes an effective mechanism by transferring knowledge from generic object recognition tasks to domain-specific tasks. Hence, the main contribution of this paper is to exploit the pre−trained deep learning CNN architectures as a cornerstone to enhance and build up an automated tool for detection and diagnosis of COVID− 19 in chest X−Ray and Computerized Tomography images. The main idea is to make use of their convolutional neural network structure and its learned weights on large datasets such as ImageNet. Moreover, a modification to ResNet50 is proposed to classify the patients as COVID infected or not. This modification includes adding three new layers, named, ′Conv′, ′Batch_Normaliz′ and ′Activation_Relu′ layers. These layers are injected in the ResNet50 architecture for accurate discrimination and robust feature extraction. Extensive experiments are carried out to assess the performance of the proposed model on COVID− 19 chest X−Ray and Computerized Tomography scan images. Experimental results approve that the proposed modification, injected layers, increases the diagnosis accuracy to 97.7% for Computerized Tomography dataset and 97.1% for X−Ray dataset which is superior compared to other approaches. COVID-19 is a kind of coronavirus that appeared in China in the Province of Wuhan in December 2019. The most significant influence of this virus is its very highly contagious characteristic which may lead to death. The standard diagnosis of COVID-19 is based on swabs from the throat and nose, their sensitivity is not high enough and so they are prone to errors. Early diagnosis of COVID-19 disease is important to provide the chance of quick isolation of the suspected cases and to decrease the opportunity of infection in healthy people. In this research, a framework for chest X-ray image classification tasks based on deep learning is proposed to help in early diagnosis of COVID-19. The proposed framework contains two phases which are the pre-processing phase and classification phase which uses pre-trained convolution neural network models based on transfer learning. In the pre-processing phase, different image enhancements have been applied to full and segmented X-ray images to improve the classification performance of the CNN models. Two CNN pre-trained models have been used for classification which are VGG19 and EfficientNetB0. From experimental results, the best model achieved a sensitivity of 0.96, specificity of 0.94, precision of 0.9412, F1 score of 0.9505 and accuracy of 0.95 using enhanced full X-ray images for binary classification of chest X-ray images into COVID-19 or normal with VGG19. COVID-19, which originated from Wuhan, rapidly spread throughout the world and became a public health crisis. Recognizing the positive cases at the earliest stage was crucial in order to restrain the spread of this virus and to perform medical treatment quickly for patients affected. However, the limited supply of RT-PCR as a diagnosis tool caused greatly delay in obtaining examination results of the suspected patients. Previous research stated that using radiologic images could be utilized to detect COVID-19 before the symptoms appeared. With the rapid development of Artificial intelligence in medical imaging in recent years, deep learning as the core of this technology could achieve human-level-performance in diagnostic accuracy. In this paper, deep learning was implemented to detect COVID-19 using a chest X-ray dataset. The proposed model employed a multi-kernel convolution neural network (CNN) block combined with pre-trained ResNet- 34 to overcome an imbalanced dataset. The model block adopted different kernel sizes as 1x1, 3x3, 5x5, and 7x7. The findings show that the proposed model is capable of performing binary and three class classification tasks with an accuracy of 100% and 93.51% in the validation phase and 95% and 83% in the test phase, respectively. The Coronavirus epidemic first appeared in Wuhan-China on December, 31st, 2019. This has put the world's hospitals, clinics, testing laboratories and health administrations under pressure. As of April, 04th, 2020, the World Health Organization reported more than 167515 confirmed cases in more than 100 countries worldwide. The diagnosis of the epidemic will increase the burden on overburdened testing laboratories. Several screening methods have been proposed in parallel in order to facilitate and, above all, to make rapid diagnosis easier. At this level, X-Ray images seem to be a good accompanying solution for emerging countries to help rapid screening. The solution proposed in this paper consists on a collaborative and smart platform based on the Convolutional Neural Network for Classification and Detection namely VGG16. The platform ensures the fast download of the X-Ray image, with the entry of the patient's personal information followed by the launch of a 5 seconds test. The novel coronavirus (nCoV-2019) is responsible for the acute respiratory disease in humans known as COVID-19. This infection was found in the Wuhan and Hubei provinces of China in the month of December 2019, after which it spread all over the world. By March, 2020, this epidemic had spread to about 117 countries and its different variants continue to disturb human life all over the world, causing great damage to the economy. Through this paper, we have attempted to identify and predict the novel coronavirus from influenza-A viral cases and healthy patients without infection through applying deep learning technology over patient pulmonary computed tomography (CT) images, as well as by the model that has been evaluated. The CT image data used under this method has been collected from various radiopedia data from online sources with a total of 548 CT images, of which 232 are from 12 patients infected with COVID-19, 186 from 17 patients with influenza A virus, and 130 are from 15 healthy candidates without infection. From the results of examination of the reference data determined from the point of view of CT imaging cases in general, the accuracy of the proposed model is 79.39%. COVID-19 has expanded overall across the globe after its initial cases were discovered in December 2019 in Wuhan—China. Because the virus has impacted people's health worldwide, its fast identification is essential for preventing disease spread and reducing mortality rates. The reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) is the primary leading method for detecting COVID-19 disease; it has high costs and long turnaround times. Hence, quick and easy-to-use innovative diagnostic instruments are required. According to a new study, COVID-19 is linked to discoveries in chest X-ray pictures. The suggested approach includes a stage of pre-processing with lung segmentation, removing the surroundings that do not provide information pertinent to the task and may result in biased results. The InceptionV3 and U-Net deep learning models used in this work process the X-ray photo and classifies them as COVID-19 negative or positive. In late 2019, a new Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) appeared in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. The virus began to spread throughout many countries, affecting a large population. Polymerase chain reaction is currently being utilized to diagnose COVID-19 in suspected patients; however, its sensitivity is quite low. The researchers also developed automated approaches for reliably and timely identifying COVID-19 from X-ray images. However, traditional machine learning-based image classification algorithms necessitate manual image segmentation and feature extraction, which is a time-consuming task. Due to promising results and robust performance, Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)-based techniques are being used widely to classify COVID-19 from Chest X-rays (CXR). This study explores CNN-based COVID-19 classification methods. A series of experiments aimed at COVID-19 detection and classification validates the viability of our proposed framework. Initially, the dataset is preprocessed and then fed into two Residual Network (ResNet) architectures for deep feature extraction, such as ResNet18 and ResNet50, whereas support vector machines with its multiple kernels, including Quadratic, Linear, Gaussian and Cubic, are used to classify these features. COVID-19 infection was reported in December 2019 at Wuhan, China. This virus critically affects several countries such as the USA, Brazil, India and Italy. Numerous research units are working at their higher level of effort to develop novel methods to prevent and control this pandemic scenario. The main objective of this paper is to propose a medical decision support system using the implementation of a convolutional neural network (CNN). This CNN has been developed using EfficientNet architecture. To the best of the authors' knowledge, there is no similar study that proposes an automated method for COVID-19 diagnosis using EfficientNet. Therefore, the main contribution is to present the results of a CNN developed using EfficientNet and 10-fold stratified cross-validation. This paper presents two main experiments. First, the binary classification results using images from COVID-19 patients and normal patients are shown. Second, the multi-class results using images from COVID-19, pneumonia and normal patients are discussed. The results show average accuracy values for binary and multi-class of 99.62% and 96.70%, respectively. On the one hand, the proposed CNN model using EfficientNet presents an average recall value of 99.63% and 96.69% concerning binary and multi-class, respectively. On the other hand, 99.64% is the average precision value reported by binary classification, and 97.54% is presented in multi-class. Finally, the average F1-score for multi-class is 97.11%, and 99.62% is presented for binary classification. COVID-19 is an evolving respiratory transmittable disease, and it holds all daily activity worldwide as a global pandemic. It appeared in the city of Wuhan (China) in November 2019 and slowly started spreading to the rest of the world. The number of cases keeps increasing drastically, leading to a shortage of medical resources and testing kids worldwide. As the physicians facing this problem, several scientists and specialists in Artificial Intelligent (AI) are rendering their support to healthcare professionals in the early detection of COVID-19 using chest X-ray image samples to determine the level of severity at a low cost. This paper proposed Genetic Deep Learning Convolutional Neural Network (GDCNN) architecture that includes Huddle Particle Swarm Optimization as an alternative to Gradient descent. Huddle PSO performs better when clubbed with GDCNN architecture. Based on publicly available datasets, trained chest X-ray images are used to predict and identify various pneumonia diseases. The proposed model performed better with an accuracy of 97.23%, a sensitivity of 98.62%, specificity of 97.0%, and precision of 93.0%. We propose COVDC-Net, a Deep Convolutional Network-based classification method which is capable of identifying SARS-CoV-2 infected amongst healthy and/or pneumonia patients from their chest X-ray images. The proposed method uses two modified pre-trained models (on ImageNet) namely MobileNetV2 and VGG16 without their classifier layers and fuses the two models using the Confidence fusion method to achieve better classification accuracy on the two currently publicly available datasets. It is observed through exhaustive experiments that the proposed method achieved an overall classification accuracy of 96.48% for 3-class (COVID-19, Normal and Pneumonia) classification tasks. For 4-class classification (COVID-19, Normal, Pneumonia Viral, and Pneumonia Bacterial) COVDC-Net method delivered 90.22% accuracy. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed COVDC-Net method has shown better overall classification accuracy as compared to the existing deep learning methods proposed for the same task in the current COVID-19 pandemic. Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) has been employed in classifying the COVID cases from the lungs' CT-Scan with promising quantifying metrics. However, SARS COVID-19 has been mutated, and we have many versions of the virus B.1.1.7, B.1.135, and P.1, hence there is a need for a more robust architecture that will classify the COVID positive patients from COVID negative patients with less training. We have developed a neural network based on the number of channels present in the images. The CNN architecture is developed in accordance with the number of the channels present in the dataset and are extracting the features separately from the channels present in the CT-Scan dataset. In the tower architecture, the first tower is dedicated for only the first channel present in the image; the second CNN tower is dedicated to the first and second channel feature maps, and finally the third channel takes account of all the feature maps from all three channels. We have used two datasets viz. one from Tongji Hospital, Wuhan, China and another SARS-CoV-2 dataset to train and evaluate our CNN architecture. From origin in Wuhan city of China, a highly communicable and deadly virus is spreading in the entire world and is known as COVID-19. COVID-19 is a new species of coronavirus which is affecting respiratory system of human. The virus is known as severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) coronavirus 2 abbreviated as SARS-CoV-2 and generally known as coronavirus disease COVID-19. This is growing day by day in countries. The symptoms include fever, cough and difficulty in breathing. As there is no vaccine made for this virus and COVID-19 tests are not readily available, this is causing panic. Various Artificial Intelligence-based algorithms and frameworks are being developed to detect this virus, but it has not been tested. People are taking advantages of others by providing duplicate COVID-19 test kits. A work is carried out with deep learning to detect presence of COVID 19. With the use of Convolutional Neural networks, the model is trained with dataset of COVID-19 positive and negative X-Rays. SARS-CoV-2, a novel strain of coronavirus' also called coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19), a highly contagious pathogenic respiratory viral infection emerged in December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in China's Hubei province without an obvious cause. Very rapidly it spread across the globe (over 200 countries and territories) and finally on 11 March 2020 World Health Organisation characterized it as a "pandemic". Although it has low mortality of around 3% as of 18 May 2021 it has already infected 164,316,270 humans with 3,406,027 unfortunate deaths. Undoubtedly the world was rocked by the COVID-19 pandemic, but researchers rose to all manner of challenges to tackle this pandemic by adopting the shreds of evidence of ML and AI in previous epidemics to develop novel models, methods, and strategies. We aim to provide a deeper insight into the convolutional neural network which is the most notable and extensively adopted technique on radiographic visual imagery to help expert medical practitioners and researchers to design and finetune their state-of-the-art models for their applicability in the arena of COVID-19. In this study, a deep convolutional neural network, its layers, activation and loss functions, regularization techniques, tools, methods, variants, and recent developments were explored to find its applications for COVID-19 prognosis. The pipeline of a general architecture for COVID-19 prognosis has also been proposed. This paper highlights recent studies of deep CNN and its applications for better prognosis, detection, classification, and screening of COVID-19 to help researchers and expert medical community in multiple directions. It also addresses a few challenges, limitations, and outlooks while using such methods for COVID-19 prognosis. The recent and ongoing developments in AI, MI, and deep learning (Deep CNN) has shown promising results and significantly improved performance metrics for screening, prediction, detection, classification, forecasting, medication, treatment, contact tracing, etc. to curtail the manual intervention in medical practice. Social sensing is an analytical method to study the interaction between human and space through extracting reliable information from massive volunteered information data. During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there are a large number of Internet social sensing data. However, most of them lack geographic attribute. In order to resolve this problem, this paper proposes a convolutional neural network geographic classification model based on keyword extraction and synonym substitution (KE-CNN) which could determine the geographic attribute by extracting the semantic features from text data. Besides, we realizes the non-contact pandemic social sensing and construct the co-word complex network by capturing the spatiotemporal behaviour of a large number of people. Our research found that (1) mining co-word network can obtain most public opinion information of pandemic events, (2) KE-CNN model improves the accuracy by 5%–15% compared with the traditional machine learning method. Coronavirus (COVID-19) was first observed in Wuhan, China, and quickly propagated worldwide. It is considered the supreme crisis of the present era and one of the most crucial hazards threatening worldwide health. Therefore, the early detection of COVID-19 is essential. The common way to detect COVID-19 is the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test, although it has several drawbacks. Computed tomography (CT) scans can enable the early detection of suspected patients, however, the overlap between patterns of COVID-19 and other types of pneumonia makes it difficult for radiologists to diagnose COVID-19 accurately. On the other hand, deep learning (DL) techniques and especially the convolutional neural network (CNN) can classify COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 cases. In addition, DL techniques that use CT images can deliver an accurate diagnosis faster than the RT-PCR test, which consequently saves time for disease control and provides an efficient computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) system. The shortage of publicly available datasets of CT images, makes the CAD system's design a challenging task. The CAD systems in the literature are based on either individual CNN or two-fused CNNs; one used for segmentation and the other for classification and diagnosis. In this article, a novel CAD system is proposed for diagnosing COVID-19 based on the fusion of multiple CNNs. First, an end-to-end classification is performed. Afterward, the deep features are extracted from each network individually and classified using a support vector machine (SVM) classifier. Next, principal component analysis is applied to each deep feature set, extracted from each network. Such feature sets are then used to train an SVM classifier individually. Afterward, a selected number of principal components from each deep feature set are fused and compared with the fusion of the deep features extracted from each CNN. The results show that the proposed system is effective and capable of detecting COVID-19 and distinguishing it from non-COVID-19 cases with an accuracy of 94.7%, AUC of 0.98 (98%), sensitivity 95.6%, and specificity of 93.7%.
