Abstract

The article focuses on the opposition of rural businesses in Scotland against the proposed removal of drying practices as an eligible heat use under the nondomestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme of the British government. Topics include the misuse of RHI by participants in Northern Ireland, the impact of the proposal to the rural businesses, and the need for the government to ensure the fair application of the scheme. Comment from Gavin Mowat of Scottish Land & Estates is presented.
