Iron oxide (β-FeOOH) nanoparticles were prepared by a simple precipitation method assisted by ultrasound at room temperature. Formation of phase pure β-FeOOH material was confirmed through the Reitveld refined XRD and FTIR analysis. The β-FeOOH nanoparticles prepared was found to have a narrow size distribution range with an average particle size of 138 nm. The optical band gap of the material was found to be 2.6 eV. The electrochemical performance of β-FeOOH was studied in a three electrode system using β-FeOOH coated on graphite sheet as the working electrode. The Ag/AgCl and platinum was used as the reference and counter electrodes, respectively. The KOH in distilled water was used as the aqueous electrolyte. The specific capacitance of the above material at a high current density of 1 A/g for 1 M, 3 M and 5 M aqueous KOH electrolyte was found to be 68.66, 138.67 and 88.17 F/g, respectively. A cast post is a one-piece unit that is custom fabricated for the tooth at the dental laboratory. Traditional extracts such as neem and green tea have good antimicrobial and antioxidant activity against pathogens. The empty canal space may provide a suitable environment for promoting bacterial growth. The main aim of the study is to find the antimicrobial activity of the cast post coated with the nanoparticle. Prepared cast post was coated with prepared green tea and neem-mediated zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles. Culture is done in agar media where control is noncoated post and another is nanoparticle coated post was implanted in the agar media. The zone of inhibition was noted and statistical analysis was done. The maximum zone of inhibition found on Candida albicans (19.333 2.081) followed by Enterococcus faecalis (14.000 3.605), and Streptococcus mutans (12.666 2.516). Green tea and neem-mediated ZnO nanoparticle showed good antimicrobial activity against the tester microorganism. Cast post coated with nanoparticles has been proved to be important as it is helpful in the prevention of origin and spread of infection around the canal and through the apical foramen. The present study was reported with synthesize of copper oxide nanoparticles by ethno botanical species. Bio convivial and compatible approaches were made to utilize the renewable source of leaves extract of Achyranthes aspera Linn as efficient capping and stabilizing agent as well. Also, natural A. aspera was functioned as reductant in the formation of CuO NPs. The phytosynthesized CuO nanoparticles were extensively characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Scanning electron microscopy, Energy dispersive X-ray diffraction, High resolution tunnelling electron microscopy and also comprehensively examined their biological applications like antibacterial and antifungal susceptibility against E. lenta, E. aerogenes and C. albicans strains. An XRD result of prepared CuO nanoparticles reveals the monoclinic crystalline structure and average crystallite size of 11–16 nm. The morphology variations for different concentrations of precursor material were noticed by SEM image. Furthermore, the crystalline planes found in SAED pattern of synthesized CuO NPs were coincide to the analysed XRD spectra. In the present study, a novel green approach was used to synthesize of CuO NPs for the antibacterial activity of poorly characterized and emerging pathogens of E. lenta and E. aerogenes. [Display omitted] • Sonochemical synthesis of NiWO 4 nanoparticles was characterized using FTIR, PXRD, SEM analytical methods. • UV & visible light irradiated NiWO 4 showed fine photocatalytic activity for Methylene Blue and Rhodamine-B dyes. • NiWO 4 was used as sensor for detection of Pb2+ using electrochemical techniques. Here we have synthesised Nickel Tungstate (NiWO 4) nanoparticles via sonochemical method. The structural and morphological studies were examined using XRD, FTIR, UV–Vis, SEM and TEM analysis. XRD pattern confirms the monoclinic wolframite structure of NiWO 4 nanoparticles. FTIR spectrum reveals that strong absorption peaks at 450 cm−1 to 1000 cm−1 for stretching and bending vibrational frequencies of the Ni–W-O peaks in NiWO 4. UV–Vis spectrum shows maximum intensity peak at ∼ 473 nm corresponding to the band gap of 3.0 eV. The SEM and TEM images show irregular shapes of nanoparticles. BET analysis shows a surface area 31.811 m2/g for NiWO 4 nanomaterials. Methylene Blue (MB) and Rhodamine B (RhB) dyes were used as model pollutants for the analysis of photocatalytic activity under UV and visible light irradiations and it has proved as a fine photocatalyst. The electrochemical activity of the samples was studied by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and Electrochemical Impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in 1 M KOH aqueous electrolyte. EIS measurements showed a reduction in the charge transfer resistance in acidic electrolyte. Modified carbon paste electrode employing NiWO 4 nanoparticles has sensed lead in alkaline electrolyte. The electrode displayed high sensitivity for lead detection under varying concentrations. The aim of the present work is to investigate the change in thermal conductivity and stability of copper oxide (CuO) water-based nanofluids, which are prepared by a two-step process, with different concentrations of anionic (Sodium dodecyl sulfate SDS) and nonionic dispersants (Polyvinyl pyrrolidone PVP). Further, CuO nanofluids and nanoparticles have been characterized by XRD, EDX, FESEM, TEM, DLS, and UV to examine the particle size, elemental composition, morphology, particle size distribution, and band gap. Besides, thermal conductivity and stability of all the fluid samples have been measured with respect to particle volume fraction. The interpretation of particle stability in different weight percent of dispersants in base fluids in the presence of PVP dispersant results in a better stabilizing agent than SDS at higher particle volume fraction. Finally, evaluating the effect of lower dispersant concentration (0.1–0.5 wt%) and particle size on the thermal conductivity of CuO water-based nanofluids confirmed that the significant enhancement of thermal conductivity is observed at lower dispersant concentration and decreases with increase in particle size. In this study, a low cost and robust paper based electrochemical immunosensor was developed using self-made gold nanoparticle electrode for rapid and selective detection of Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). The working and counter electrode were printed using gold nanoparticle ink while the reference electrode was made using commerical silver ink. A simple mercapto-amine functionalised receptor ( R1 ) based on moiety Quinone compound was formed on the paper based screen-printed gold (Au) electrode (P-SPGE) for highly selective sensing of CEA. A self-assembled monolayer principle (SAM) was exploited to fabricate the sensitive and selective immunosensor electrodes. In electrode fabrication, SAM layer was accomplished using covalent linkage of thiol in the R1 compound on the P-SPGE surface. Immobilised amine served as a layer for further binding of biological components. CEA levels were examined quantitatively using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and limit of detection (LoD) was calculated as 0.33 ng mL −1 . The performance of P-SPGE was compared with the commercial screen-printed Au electrode. A novel P-SPGE functionalised with R1 exhibited the tremendous performance for CEA detection in a linear concentration range of 1.0 ng mL −1 –100.0 ng mL −1 . Chemical co-precipitation synthesized novel and green cobalt-oxide nanoparticles (Co 3 O 4 -NPs) utilizing cobalt nitrate as cobalt precursors. FTIR, Raman, scanning electron microscopy, UV visible, X-ray powder diffraction, and BET was used to analyze the surface characteristics, composition, and morphology, of the NPs. These green Co 3 O 4 -NPs were employed to remove Pb ions from simulated wastewater solutions at various pH, adsorbate, temperature, and dose concentrations. At dose 20 mg/L, pH 6.0, 20 mg/L (Pb(II) solution, 25 °C of temperature, and 45 min for equilibrium, nearly 99.44% of Pb ions were removed. To evaluate the kinetic data, four different kinetic equations were used. The data fit the Elovich rate equation better than the other three models. Thermodynamic and isothermal studies were also evaluated, and the maximum adsorption capacity of 450.45 mg/g was observed at 298.15 K. 0.1 M HNO 3, and 0.1 HCl were used to regenerate used Co 3 O 4 -NPs. Simulation results show the strong correlation of the Co atom in the Co 3 O 4 -NPs generates active delocalized surface states, which are energetically most favorable for heavy metal (Pb ions) adsorption and removal, supporting the experimental outcomes. In a pilot scale study, silver and copper nanoparticles were synthesized from two different plant sources viz Flacourtia indica and Prosopsis juliflora. the in vivo toxicity of silver and copper nanoparticles was tested on Danio rerio (Zebra fish) under different concentrations (1 ppm, 10 ppm and 100 ppm). Through the investigation, the nanoparticles treated fishes developed with hyper pigmentation in the ventral region. The minimum lethal concentration required to bring lethality caused by silver nanoparticle was 10 ppm whereas for copper nanoparticles it was 1 ppm. Further, the concentration of silver and copper nanoparticles accumulated inside the fish was evaluated by Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy. Atomisticmolecular dynamics simulations of small clusters andnanodroplets of the ionic liquid 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis[(trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl]imide[EMIM-Tf2N] subject to an external electric field wereperformed. A 125-ion-pair droplet was found to be nearly sphericalwith an isotropic distribution of cations and anions under vacuumconditions. The droplet was subjected to external electric fieldsof varying strength, and ion emission events were observed. The initiallyspherical droplet is elongated along the electric field axis, resultingin nonspherical behavior and increased net dipole values after theapplication of strong electric fields. The critical electric fieldrequired for ion field emission was determined to be 0.985 V/nm, inagreement with the experimental value of 1.0 V/nm. Excellent agreementis found in the prediction of ionic emission products for a neutral125-ion-pair droplet of the ionic liquid at an electric field strengthof 1.2 V/nm when compared to the results of two independent experiments.Small ionic liquid clusters were investigated with respect to theirthermal stabilities and were found to be thermally stable well aboveroom temperature. Bionanotechnology has developed rapidly over the past two decades, owing to the extensive and versatile, functionalities and applicability of nanoparticles (NPs). Fifty-one nanomedicines have been approved by FDA since 1995, out of the many NPs based formulations developed to date. The general conformation of NPs consists of a core with ligands coating their surface, that stabilizes them and provides them with added functionalities. The physicochemical properties, especially the surface composition of NPs influence their bio-interactions to a large extent. This review discusses recent studies that help understand the nano-bio interactions of iron oxide and gold NPs with different surface compositions. We discuss the influence of the experimental factors on the outcome of the studies and, thus, the importance of standardization in the field of nanotechnology. Recent studies suggest that with careful selection of experimental parameters, it is possible to improve the positive correlation between in vitro and in vivo studies. This provides a fundamental understanding of the NPs which helps in assessing their potential toxic side effects and may aid in manipulating them further to improve their biocompatibility and biosafety. Development of new superparamagnetic materials with narrow size distribution is crucial for biomedical and environmental applications. Hence, we report the synthesis of narrow size distributed single grain MnFe2O4 nanoparticles of average particle size 9 nm by solvothermal reflux method. Synthesized compound crystallized in face centered cubic spinel structure and is confirmed by X-ray diffraction profiles. Transmission electron micrograph shows narrow size distributed particles with an average particle size of 9 nm and is equal to crystallite diameter estimated from Scherrer equation. The spinel crystal structure is further confirmed by electron diffraction profiles, Fourier transformed infrared spectrum, and Raman spectrum at room temperature. Magnetic properties of the sample show superparamagnetic nature at room temperature with moderate saturated magnetization of 56.4 emug−1. Magnetic heating properties of nanoparticles dispersion show the attainment of hyperthermia temperature (43 °C) in a short span of time of 1.6 min for 2 mg/mL and 2.6 min for 1 mg/mL concentrations. Estimated specific heat generation rate or specific power absorption rate, from temporal temperature plots, is 145.78 Wg−1 and is useful for magnetic hyperthermia application in cancer therapy. Photocatalysis properties of sample show 96% of rhodamine B dye degradation in little less than 6 h under UV light irradiation and are useful for photocatalytic applications in wastewater treatment in industries. The present study focuses on fabrication and characterisation of porous composite scaffold containing hydroxyapatite (HAP), chitosan, and gelatin with an average pore size of 250–1010 nm for improving wound repair and regeneration by Electrospinning method. From the results of X ‐Ray Diffraction (XRD) study, the peaks correspond to crystallographic structure of HAP powder. The presence of functional group bonds of HAP powder, Chitosan and scaffold was studied using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The surface morphology of the scaffold was observed using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The Bioactivity of the Nano composite scaffolds was studied using simulated body fluid solution at 37 ± 1°C. The biodegradability test was studied using Tris‐Buffer solution for the prepared nanocomposites [nano Chitosan, nano Chitosan gelatin, Nano based Hydroxyapatite Chitosan gelatin]. The cell migration and potential biocompatibility of nHAP‐chitosan‐gelatin scaffold was assessed via wound scratch assay and were compared to povedeen as control. Cytocompatibility evaluation for Vero Cells using wound scratch assay showed that the fabricated porous nanocomposite scaffold possess higher cell proliferation and growth than that of povedeen. In this study, the co-precipitation approach was used to make nanostructured nickel oxide (NiO) commencing with sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and nickel (II) chloride hexahydrate (NiCl2 ⋅ 6H2O). Through the use of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopes (SEM), UV-visible (UV–Vis) absorption, and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) imaging, structural and optical studies were investigated. FTIR, photoluminescence (PL), cyclic voltammetry (CV) studies are taken. The synthesized nanoparticles were annealed at 3 0 0 ∘ C and 4 0 0 ∘ C. The face-centered cubic (FCC) structure of the NiO and highly crystallized nanoparticles were revealed by XRD investigations. Observation of FTIR spectra validated the composition of functional groups. Scanning electron microscopy image shows the average size is 24 nm. NiO optical band gap at 3 0 0 ∘ C (3.37 eV) and 4 0 0 ∘ C (2.7 eV) is revealed from UV studies. From CV graph, the sample annealing at 3 0 0 ∘ C and 4 0 0 ∘ C the specific capacitance was 543.6 and 519.8 F/g, respectively. Meloxicam (MLX) is currently used in the therapeutic management of both acute and chronic inflammatory disorders such as pain, injuries, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis in both humans and animals. Gastrointestinal toxicity and occasional renal toxicity were observed in patients taking it for a long-term period. Meloxicam's late attainment of peak plasma concentration results in a slow onset of action. The goal of the current study was to prepare and characterize chitosan encapsulated meloxicam nanoparticles (CEMNPs) with high bioavailability and less gastro intestinal toxicity in order to prevent such issues. The size of the prepared CEMNPs was approximately 110–220 nm with a zetapotential of +39.9 mV and polydispersity index of 0.268, suggesting that they were uniformly dispersed nanoparticles. The FTIR and UV-Vis spectroscopy have confirmed the presence of MLX in the prepared CEMNPs. The pharmacokinetics have been studied with three groups of male Wistar rats receiving either of the treatments, viz., 4 mg·kg−1 of MLX and 1 or 4 mg·kg−1 of CEMNPs. Plasma samples were collected until 48 h post administration, and concentrations of MLX were quantified by using reverse (C18) phase HPLC. Non-compartmental analysis was applied to determine pharmacokinetic variables. Upon oral administration, the maximum concentration (Cmax) was reached in 4 h for CEMNPs and 6 h for MLX. The mean area under the plasma MLX concentration-time curve from 'zero' to infinity (AUC0–∞), half-life (t1/2β), and mean resident time (MRT) of 1 mg·kg−1 of CEMNPs was 1.4-, 2-, and 1.8-fold greater than 4 mg·kg−1 of MLX. The prepared CEMNPs demonstrated quicker absorption and prolonged release along with a significant improvement in the bioavailability of MLX, paving a prospective path for the development of drugs with enhanced bioavailability with less side effects. Chitosan nanoparticles (CSNPs) have been recently used for various applications in aquaculture, especially as drug carriers. The aim of this study was to synthesise and investigate a superlative method of CSNP synthesis for application in aquaculture through aquaculture‐based toxicology screening methods. Two different methods were analysed: the first a direct ionic gelation method (A) and the other involving a low‐molecular‐weight chitosan microparticle intermediate method (B). Dynamic light scattering characterisation revealed that the CSNP particle sizes were 192.7 ± 11.8 and 22.9 nm from methods A and B, respectively. The LC50 values for brine shrimp toxicity were found to be 1.51 and 0.02 ppt in 24 h for methods A and B, respectively. Acute toxicity studies in Litopenaeus vannamei rendered LC50 values of 3235.94 and 2884.03 ppt in 24 h for methods A and B, respectively. Zebrafish toxicity studies revealed mortality rates of 21.67% and 55% at 20 mg/L concentration for methods A and B, respectively, with an increased expression of intracellular reactive oxygen species in method B. From these findings, it can be concluded that a comparatively reduced toxicity of CSNPs derived from ionic gelation method makes it more appropriate for application in aquaculture. BiSb nanoparticles were synthesized by solvothermal method. The synthesized material having a trigonal structure with space group R3m was confirmed through X-ray diffraction pattern. The Williamson-Hall method was employed to analyze the lattice stress and micro-strain produced in the BiSb nanoparticles. On the prepared material surface morphology studies were carried out using HR-SEM with EDXA. UV-visible absorption spectrum shows a wide absorption peak at 287 nm and the estimated band gap value is at Eg = 1.6 eV (from Tauc plot). The values of remanent polarization Pr = 0.156 μC/cm2, saturation polarization Ps = 0.253 μC/cm2, and coercive electric field Ec = 13.5 kV/cm obtained from the loop were close to the value. In consideration of the world's energy issues and environmental concerns, the search for sustainable energy sources has taken on a crucial role. Although bioenergy, which is made from organic materials, presents a promising alternative, there are many obstacles preventing its widespread acceptance, such as ineffective conversion procedures, resource shortages, and environmental effects. Sustainable energy with advanced technology and also economically feasible can be achieved through a combination of nanoparticles and enzyme immobilization techniques. Nano-materials can be designed according to our needs which make them a better choice for many applications. The physio-chemical properties of nanoparticles are unique with increased surface/volume ratio. The methods of synthesis are top-down (physical), bottom-up (chemical) and biological methods. Break-through technology with which challenges faced by increasing demands of the current and future needs can be fulfilled. Binding/encapsulation of enzymes to nanoparticles enhances the efficiency of enzymes as nano-biocatalyst and also has the advantage of reusability of enzymes which in-turn reduces the overall cost, avoids enzyme deactivation by inhibitors produced during the process. The energy crisis can be resolved by the above technology by using the nano-biocatalyst in biofuel production to overcome the limitations of conventional biocatalysts. By carrying out more research in-depth for designing nano-biocatalyst that provides stabilization for biofuel industries alternate sustainable production can be achieved. This plant has wound healing property and is commercially unexploited. Silver nanoparticle (Ag‐NP) were synthesized using this plant extracts using different solvents (methanol, ethyl acetate and aqueous), which exhibit resonance at 426, 424 and 418 nm, respectively. This plant‐mediated Ag‐NPs have strong anti‐bactericidal activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Streptococcus pyogenes, Klebsiella pneumonia, Serratia marcescens and Bacillus subtilis with methanol extract. Further instance, elemental composition was confirmed by energy dispersive X‐ray analysis and particle size ranges were observed at 80–200 nm with spherical shape nanoparticles by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy analysis. The biocompatibility of Ag‐NPs was assessed using fibroblast cell line (L929) by MTT assay with 109.35 µg IC50 value. The oxygen plasma treated and non‐treated bamboo spunlaced nonwoven fabrics were coated with the Ag‐NPs by exhaust method. Contact angle and water retention revealed significant difference in absorption ability of plasma treated fabric. Field emission scanning electron microscopy revealed the presence of Ag‐NPs in plasma coated fabrics. The fabricated cloth was studied for anti‐microbial and microbial penetration ability. A novel eco-friendly and biocompatible method has been used with the help of Solanum surattense aqueous leaves extract to synthesis silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). The cost-effective green synthesis route has been given much care to ensure an environmentally friendly and straightforward approach, as it is most demanded in the biomedical industry. The proposed novel synthesis method offers additional compensations over other synthesizing approaches. Different analytical systems such as UV–vis, IR, XRD, DLS, SEM, EDAX, XPS, and TEM characterization techniques were used to understand the quality of the green synthesized nanoparticles for biomedical applications. The surface plasmon resonance peak of green synthesized silver nanoparticles at 446 nm was observed by UV absorbance spectral analysis. The XRD, SEM, and TEM analysis using to study the crystal structure, particle size, and surface morphology of the AgNPs. The results confirmed the synthesized spherical shape silver nanoparticles were crystallized in a face-centered cubic structure. The zeta potential measurement was used to authorize the excellent stability of AgNPs employing the dynamic light scattering method. FTIR spectral study confirmed that phytocompound participate in the bioreduction as well as stabilization of biosynthesized AgNPs by Solanum surattense. Also, the phytochemical content acts as the capping agent on surface AgNPs. The synthesized silver nanoparticles are subjected to antibacterial activity against both gram-positive and negative pathogenic bacteria for finding suitability in biocompatible applications. Also, the cytotoxicity of AgNPs was studied against the human breast cancer cell line and compared with one of the commercially available cancer drugs. Also, we have shown that the prepared AgNPs could serve as an excellent photocatalyst for degrading the Rhodamine B (RhB) dye and Acid Violet 7 (AV 7) dye under direct sunlight radiation.
