Landslides are one of the main geological disasters in the riparian zone of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area (TGRA) in China, causing massive losses in terms of industrial and agricultural production and people's lives and property. Due to the difficulty of data collection and lack of facade information, the remote sensing methods currently used for landslide mapping and detection are insufficient. The current landslide information acquisition method is mainly based on visual interpretation and automatic computer classification from aerial orthophotographs, which is subjective and time-consuming and yields low accuracy. New shipborne photogrammetry has unique advantages in small and steep slope landslide detection. In recent years, the deep learning technology represented by convolutional neural networks (CNNs) exhibits more powerful feature learning ability in image recognition than traditional machine learning technology. Meanwhile, transfer learning can make the network suitable for small datasets through fine-tuning, which could transfer the parameters of the pretrained model to the new model in a certain way, thereby increasing the learning efficiency of the model. In this paper, the training of multiple deep learning models is realized through transfer learning, and automatic identification of landslides based on shipborne images is achieved through decision-level fusion. The experimental results show that through the integration of decision-level fusion and transfer learning, it performs well in the classification of landslides based on shipborne images. Background: Paris polyphylla is a herb widely used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat various diseases. Stem rot diseases seriously affected the yield of P. polyphylla in subtropical areas of China. Therefore, cost-effective, chemical-free, eco-friendly strategies to control stem rot on P. polyphylla are valuable and urgently needed. Results: In this paper, we reported the biocontrol efficiency of Paenibacillus peoriae HJ-2 and its complete genome sequence. Strain HJ-2 could serve as a potential biocontrol agent against stem rot on P. polyphylla in the greenhouse and field. The genome of HJ-2 consists of a single 6,001,192 bp chromosome with an average GC content of 45% and 5,237 predicted protein coding genes, 39 rRNAs and 108 tRNAs. The phylogenetic tree indicated that HJ-2 is most closely related to P. peoriae IBSD35. Functional analysis of genome revealed numerous genes/gene clusters involved in plant colonization, biofilm formation, plant growth promotion, antibiotic and resistance inducers synthesis. Moreover, metabolic pathways that potentially contribute to biocontrol mechanisms were identified. Conclusions: This study revealed that P. peoriae HJ-2 could serve as a potential BCA against stem rot on P. polyphylla. Based on genome analysis, the genome of HJ-2 contains more than 70 genes and 12 putative gene clusters related to secondary metabolites, which have previously been described as being involved in chemotaxis motility, biofilm formation, growth promotion, antifungal activity and resistance inducers biosynthesis. The purpose of this study was to explore the role of prophylactic antiviral therapy in hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with negative HBV-DNA. The study included 79 HBV-related HCC patients with preoperative negative HBV-DNA who underwent hepatectomy. Patients were prospectively assigned to two groups: preoperative antiviral treatment group (n = 39) and untreated group (n = 40). Follow-up visits were performed with patients regularly once per month. The data for the two groups were analyzed including HBV activation; tumor recurrence; liver function; 1-, 2-, and 3-year survival rate; and cumulative survival time. In the antiviral group, 1 of 39 (2.56%) patients had HBV activation, while there were 8 of 40 (20%) with HBV activation in the untreated group (p < 0.05). Our findings indicate, therefore, that antiviral therapy is a protective factor for HBV activation. There was no statistically significant difference in tumor recurrence between the two groups. Tumor recurrence is related to non-antiviral status, postoperative HBV activation, level of AFP, tumor invasion, and tumor microinvasion (p < 0.05). Postoperative 1-, 2-, and 3-year cumulative overall survival rates were 92.30%, 84.61%, and 76.33%, respectively, for the antiviral groups, and 90%, 72.5%, and 54.28%, respectively, for the untreated group (p = 0.048). There was no statistically significant difference in disease-free survival between the two groups (p = 0.120). HBV can be activated after hepatectomy for HBV-related HCC patients who exhibit preoperative negative HBV-DNA. Preventative antiviral treatment for HBV- HCC patients with negative HBV-DNA undergoing hepatic resection facilitates reduction of activation of HBV. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The water-level fluctuation zone (WLFZ) of the Three Gorges Reservoir is a serious landslide-prone area. However, current remote sensing methods for landslide mapping and detection in the WLFZ are insufficient because of difficulties in data acquisition and lack of facade information. We proposed a novel shipborne mobile photogrammetry approach for 3D mapping and landslide detection in the WLFZ for the first time, containing a self-designed shipborne hardware platform and a data acquisition and processing workflow. To evaluate the accuracy and usability of the resultant 3D models in the WLFZ, four bundle block adjustment (BBA) control configurations were developed and adopted. In the four configurations, the raw Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) data, the raw GNSS data and fixed camera height, the GCPs extracted from aerial photogrammetric products, and the mobile Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) point cloud were used. A comprehensive accuracy assessment of the 3D models was conducted, and the comparative results indicated the BBA with GCPs extracted from the aerial photogrammetric products was the most practical configuration (RMSE 2.00 m in plane, RMSE 0.46 m in height), while the BBA with the mobile LiDAR point cloud as a control provided the highest georeferencing accuracy (RMSE 0.59 m in plane, RMSE 0.40 m in height). Subsequently, the landslide detection ability of the proposed approach was compared with multisource remote sensing images through visual interpretation, which showed that the proposed approach provided the highest landslide detection rate and unique advantages in small landslide detection as well as in steep terrains due to the more detailed features of landslides provided by the shipborne 3D models. With the rapid process of both urban sprawl and urban renewal, large numbers of old buildings have been demolished in China, leading to wide spread construction sites, which could cause severe dust contamination. To alleviate the accompanied dust pollution, green plastic mulch has been widely used by local governments of China. Therefore, timely and accurate mapping of urban green plastic covered regions is of great significance to both urban environmental management and the understanding of urban growth status. However, the complex spatial patterns of the urban landscape make it challenging to accurately identify these areas of green plastic cover. To tackle this issue, we propose a deep semi-supervised learning framework for green plastic cover mapping using very high resolution (VHR) remote sensing imagery. Specifically, a multi-scale deformable convolution neural network (CNN) was exploited to learn representative and discriminative features under complex urban landscapes. Afterwards, a semi-supervised learning strategy was proposed to integrate the limited labeled data and massive unlabeled data for model co-training. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method could accurately identify green plastic-covered regions in Jinan with an overall accuracy (OA) of 91.63%. An ablation study indicated that, compared with supervised learning, the semi-supervised learning strategy in this study could increase the OA by 6.38%. Moreover, the multi-scale deformable CNN outperforms several classic CNN models in the computer vision field. The proposed method is the first attempt to map urban green plastic-covered regions based on deep learning, which could serve as a baseline and useful reference for future research. Objective: To evaluate epidemiological characteristics of the COVID-19 outbreak that resurged in Yangzhou and to simulate the impact of different control measures at different regional scales., Methods: We collected personal information from 570 laboratory-confirmed cases in Yangzhou from 28 July to 26 August 2021, and built a modified susceptible-exposed-infected-removed (SEIR) model and an agent-based model., Results: The SEIR model showed that for passengers from medium-high risk areas, pre-travel nucleic acid testing within 3 days could limit the total number of infected people in Yangzhou to 50; among elderly persons, a 60% increase in vaccination rates could reduce the estimated infections by 253. The agent-based model showed that when the population density of the chess and card room dropped by 40%, the number of infected people would decrease by 54 within 7 days. A ventilation increase in the chess and card room from 25 to 50% could reduce the total number of infections by 33 within 7 days; increasing the ventilation from 25 to 75% could reduce the total number of infections by 63 within 7 days., Conclusions: The SEIR model and agent-based model were used to simulate the impact of different control measures at different regional scales successfully. Since the emergence of COVID-19, there have been many local outbreaks with foci at shopping malls in China. We compared and analyzed the epidemiological and spatiotemporal characteristics of local COVID-19 outbreaks in two commercial locations, a department store building (DSB) in Baodi District, Tianjin, and the Xinfadi wholesale market (XFD) in Fengtai District, Beijing. The spread of the infection at different times was analyzed by the standard deviation elliptical method. The spatial transfer mode demonstrated that outbreaks started at the center of each commercial location and spread to the periphery. The number of cases and the distance from the central outbreak showed an inverse proportional logarithmic function shape. Most cases were distributed within a 10 km radius; infected individuals who lived far from the outbreak center were mainly infected by close-contact transmission at home or in the workplace. There was no efficient and rapid detection method at the time of the DSB outbreak; the main preventative measure was the timing of COVID-19 precautions. Emergency interventions (closing shopping malls and home isolation) were initiated five days before confirmation of the first case from the shopping center. In contrast, XFD closed after the first confirmed cases appeared, but those infected during this outbreak benefitted from efficient nucleic acid testing. Quick results and isolation of infected individuals were the main methods of epidemic control in this area. The difference in the COVID-19 epidemic patterns between the two shopping malls reflects the progress of Chinese technology in the prevention and control of COVID-19.

In December 2019, the first confirmed case of pneumonia caused by a novel coronavirus was reported. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is currently spreading around the world. The relationships among the pandemic and its associated travel restrictions, social distancing measures, contact tracing, mask-wearing habits and medical consultation efficiency have not yet been extensively assessed. Based on the epidemic data reported by the Health Commission of Wenzhou, we analysed the developmental characteristics of the epidemic and modified the Susceptible-Exposed-Infectious-Removed (SEIR) model in three discrete ways. (1) According to the implemented preventive measures, the epidemic was divided into three stages: initial, outbreak and controlled. (2) We added many factors, such as health protections, travel restrictions and social distancing, close-contact tracing and the time from symptom onset to hospitalisation (TSOH), to the model. (3) Exposed and infected people were subdivided into isolated and free-moving populations. For the parameter estimation of the model, the average TSOH and daily cured cases, deaths and imported cases can be obtained through individual data from epidemiological investigations. The changes in daily contacts are simulated using the intracity travel intensity (ICTI) from the Baidu Migration Big Data platform. The optimal values of the remaining parameters are calculated by the grid search method. With this model, we calculated the sensitivity of the control measures with regard to the prevention of the spread of the epidemic by simulating the number of infected people in various hypothetical situations. Simultaneously, through a simulation of a second epidemic, the challenges from the rebound of the epidemic were analysed, and prevention and control recommendations were made. The results show that the modified SEIR model can effectively simulate the spread of COVID-19 in Wenzhou. The policy of the lockdown of Wuhan, the launch of the first-level Public Health Emergency Preparedness measures on 23 January 2020 and the implementation of resident travel control measures on 31 January 2020 were crucial to COVID-19 control.

The study aims to develop new birth weight prediction models for different gestational age stages using 2-dimensional (2D) ultrasound measurements in a Chinese population. 2D ultrasound was examined in pregnant women with normal singleton within 3 days prior to delivery (28-42 weeks' gestation). A total of 19,310 fetuses were included in the study and randomly split into the training group and the validation group. Gestational age was divided into five stages: 28-30, 31-33, 34-36, 37-39 and 40-42 weeks. Multiple linear regression (MLR), fractional polynomial regression (FPR) and volume-based model (VM) were used to develop birth weight prediction model. New staged prediction models (VM for 28-36 weeks, MLR for 37-39 weeks, and FPR for 40-42 weeks) provided lower systematic errors and random errors than previously published models for each gestational age stage in the training group. The similar results were observed in the validation group. Compared to the previously published models, new staged models had the lowest aggregate systematic error (0.31%) and at least a 19.35% decrease; at least a 4.67% decrease for the root-mean-square error (RMSE). The prediction rates within 5% and 10% of birth weight for new staged models were higher than those for previously published models, which were 54.47% and 85.10%, respectively. New staged birth weight prediction models could improve the accuracy of birth weight estimation for different gestational age stages in a Chinese population.

This study aimed to compare the sensitivity and accuracy for the detection of small lesions in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) using gadolinium-ethoxybenzyl-diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (Gd-EOB-DTPA) dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) and 64-slice computed tomography (CT) enhanced scanning, and to evaluate the necessity to perform MRI in patients diagnosed with HCC by CT.The clinical data from 209 patients with HCC diagnosed prior to surgery in the Affiliated Hospital of Guilin Medical University, China were retrospectively analyzed. The 64-slice dynamic contrast-enhanced multi-detector CT (MDCT) and 3.0 T Gd-EOB-DTPA DCE MRI procedures were successively carried out on all patients who were enrolled in a self-controlled study including detection and diagnosis of HCC lesions by MRI and CT, respectively.A total of 243 lesions were detected and both imaging methods could accurately detect lesions of diameter >2 cm. For lesions <2 cm, MRI detected 47, while CT detected 25 lesions indicating that the detection rate of MRI was 88% higher than that of CT. In addition, MRI detected lesions in 15 cases (7.81% in the total of 209 cases) that were not diagnosed by CT. Among these cases, 2 patients were diagnosed to have no lesion by CT.Gd-EOB-DTPA DCE-MRI performed as a routine check prior to surgery in HCC patients can improve the detection of small HCC lesions.

Increasing evidence suggests that abnormal synaptic function leads to neuronal developmental disorders and is an important component of the etiology of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Neurexins are presynaptic cell-adhesion molecules that affect the function of synapses and mediate the conduction of nerve signals. Thus, neurexins are attractive candidate genes for autism. Since gene families have greater power to reveal genetic association than single genes, we designed this case-control study to investigate six genetic variants in three neurexin genes (NRXN1, NRXN2, and NRXN3) in a Chinese population including 529 ASD patients and 1,923 healthy controls. We found that two SNPs were significantly associated with ASD after false discovery rate (FDR) adjustment for multiple comparisons. The NRXN2 rs12273892 polymorphism T allele and AT genotype were significantly associated with increased risk of ASD (respectively: OR = 1.328, 95% CI = 1.133-1.557, P < 0.001; OR = 1.528; 95% CI = 1.249-1.868, P < 0.001). The dominant model showed the same association (OR = 1.495, 95% CI = 1.231-1.816, P < 0.001). The NRXN3 rs12879016 polymorphism played a significant role in ASD susceptibility under the dominant model (OR = 0.747, 95% CI= 0.615-0.908, P = 0.023), with the same trend detected for the G allele and GT genotype (respectively: OR = 0.811, 95% CI = 0.699-0.941, P = 0.036; OR = 0.755, 95% CI = 0.615-0.928, P = 0.035). In conclusion, this study supports the importance of two genetic variants in the neurexin gene family in ASD susceptibility in China.
