The purpose of the work is to analyze the State as the object of the political sciences to understand the theoretical-- epistemological complexity involved in its conceptualization from utilitarian, functionalist, neo-institutional to the (re) discovery of the Weberian view of the phenomenon. The bibliographic review, analytically, concluded that the conceptions of the State as an autonomous actor of exclusive legal-institutional conception and instrument for the role of processor of exogenous claims, and/or as the exclusive object of the theory and philosophy, has been overwhelmed by the explanatory urgencies that the social, political and legal sciences today have the product of dynamic realities, positioning the State in a promoting action, in compensation with the unrealizable meta-narratives of the economic, social, autonomous development.
