Abstract

The article profiles Chinese pianist Tian Jiaxin and focuses on her goal to bring China to the world of music. It describes Tian's encounter with French maestro Philippe Entremont at a foreign piano competition. A background on the efforts of Tian to learn piano from the age of three through her education at the Shenyang Conservatory of Music in China is presented. Also highlighted is her experience at a foreign music graduate school, the Manhattan School of Music in New York.
