Objetivo: Analisar as ações realizadas e os desafios da equipe de enfermagem para alcançar a meta de segurança de comunicação efetiva em um centro cirúrgico de um hospital de ensino. Método: Estudo de caso com abordagem qualitativa, realizado com a equipe de enfermagem nos meses de janeiro e fevereiro de 2019. A coleta de dados ocorreu através de entrevistas com roteiro semiestruturado, tendo sido submetidas a análise de conteúdo. Resultados: Evidenciaram-se três categorias temáticas: Comunicação na concepção da equipe de enfermagem: importância e instrumentos utilizados; Comunicação efetiva: desafios vivenciados e repercussões na assistência de enfermagem; Benefícios da comunicação entre profissional de saúde e paciente: construindo vínculo e confiança. Conclusões: Foram identificados alguns desafios como ausência de reuniões, falta de escuta qualificada e sobrecarga de trabalho, os quais podem favorecer a ocorrência de erros, interferindo, na segurança do paciente. Urge a necessidade de sistematizar o processo de comunicação no local pesquisado.

Objetivo: Compreender concepções e condutas da equipe de enfermagem frente ao erro de medicação na clínica médica. Método: Estudo de abordagem qualitativa, descritivo, realizado em um hospital de ensino. Foram entrevistados dois enfermeiros e dezessete técnicos de enfermagem da clínica médica. A coleta de dados se deu por meio de entrevistas e observação não participante, analisados pela técnica de análise de conteúdo. Resultados: Foram elaboradas três categorias: concepções da equipe de enfermagem sobre o erro de medicação; aspectos que acentuam a ocorrência do erro; e estratégias e condutas adotadas para a melhoria do processo de medicação. Conclusão: Foram identificadas lacunas no conhecimento sobre o erro de medicação e segurança do paciente. Faz se necessário à implementação de medidas de melhorias no processo de medicação.

Objetivo: Analisar a cultura de segurança do paciente sob a ótica da equipe de enfermagem de uma Unidade de Terapia Intensiva (UTI) de um hospital de ensino. Métodos: Estudo observacional transversal realizado com 16 profissionais de enfermagem de uma UTI. Os dados foram coletados de setembro a novembro de 2020, utilizando o questionário Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture. Para a análise dos dados foram seguidas as orientações da Agency for Healthcare Researchand Quality que considera o percentual de respostas para cada dimensão da cultura de segurança do paciente. Resultados: As dimensões da cultura de segurança com resultados mais positivos e com potencial de melhoria foram “Trabalho em equipe dentro da unidade” (76,8%), “Aprendizado organizacional/melhoria contínua” (64,8%) e “Frequência de eventos notificados” (60,5%). Com relação ao número de notificações de eventos, a maioria dos profissionais não realizaram nenhuma notificação nos últimos 12 meses, o que representa 93,75%. Conclusão: Os resultados podem auxiliar os gestores na identificação de lacunas na segurança do paciente, subsidiando estratégias eficazes para elevar a qualidade e segurança dos cuidados. Essa investigação aponta para a necessidade do desenvolvimento de educação permanente no sentindo de fortalecer a cultura de segurança do paciente, proporcionando mudanças reais no setor.

Hesperozygis ringens is a plant of the Lamiaceae family which is restricted to the Southern region of Brazil. It is popularly used as an insecticide, but knowledge on it is very scarce. This study aimed to determine the chemical markers of H. ringens extracts obtained via ultrasound-assisted (UAE-EtOH) and supercritical fluid (SFE-CO2) extractions. UAE-EtOH and SFE-CO2 extracts were characterised by UPLC-MS and GC-MS, respectively. Both products had their antioxidant activity, cytotoxicity and genotoxicity evaluated. Twelve compounds were found in the UAE-EtOH extract, including phenolic acids and flavonoids; the SFE-CO2 extract contained terpenes and phytosterols. The UAE-EtOH extract showed a greater antioxidant activity. Neither extract presented cytotoxicity or genotoxicity against human mononuclear blood cells.

Objetivou-se compreender a percepção dos enfermeiros sobre o seu papel gerencial, analisar as competências para o exercício da gerência em enfermagem e identificar os desafios gerenciais vivenciados no cotidiano do enfermeiro da Atenção Primária à Saúde (APS). Estudo descritivo com abordagem qualitativa, realizado com 14 enfermeiros vinculados a Estratégia de Saúde da Família (ESF) de um município mineiro. A coleta de dados foi realizada nos meses de março a abril de 2015 por meio de entrevistas e posteriormente foi realizado análise de conteúdo. Foram construídas três categorias temáticas: Concepções sobre o gerenciamento de enfermagem na APS; O despreparo anunciado como desafio gerencial e Competências requeridas e desafios inscritos no cotidiano gerencial da APS. Conclui-se que os enfermeiros têm noção das habilidades necessárias para o gerenciamento, entretanto, apontam como desafio a dificuldade de implementá-las em seu cotidiano de trabalho. Ademais, há um despreparo para exercer a função gerencial na APS atribuído à falta de educação permanente. Nota-se a necessidade de adoção de estratégias de capacitação profissional nessa área.

Objetivo: compreender a concepção sobre o Programa de Melhoria do Acesso e da Qualidade da Atenção Básica (PMAQ-AB) sob a ótica dos médicos atuantes nas equipes de Saúde da Família. Método: Pesquisa qualitativa, realizada com 14 médicos através de entrevistas com roteiro semiestruturado. Os dados foram analisados utilizando-se a técnica de análise de conteúdo. Resultados: Elaboraram-se três categorias temáticas: A concepção médica sobre o PMAQ-AB: visões que se contrapõem; A face positiva do PMAQ-AB; PMAQ-AB e as dificuldades vivenciadas pelos médicos. Conclusão: Fazem-se necessários programas de educação permanente no tocante às políticas de saúde de forma a incorporá-las com maior efetividade visando à qualidade nas práticas dos serviços de saúde. Ressalta-se a necessidade de investimentos na estrutura física e recursos materiais que são apontados como aspectos limitadores para a atuação dos profissionais.

Objetivo: analisar as acoes realizadas e os desafios da equipe de enfermagem para a administracao segura de medicamentos no servico de emergencia de um hospital de ensino. Metodo : Pesquisa qualitativa realizada com 17 profissionais da equipe de enfermagem atuantes no servico de emergencia. A coleta de dados foi realizada atraves de entrevista com roteiro semiestruturado e os dados foram submetidos a Analise de Conteudo. Resultados: a primeira categoria revelou as atitudes dos entrevistados frente a administracao segura dos medicamentos, tendo a maioria citado acoes que contemplam os 9 certos da administracao, mas de forma incompleta. A segunda categoria apresentou as dificuldades e desafios que a equipe enfrenta no cotidiano para administracao segura dos medicamentos, como elevado numero de pacientes atendidos e desconhecimento dos novos medicamentos. Conclusao: depreende-se que a equipe de enfermagem entrevistada atende parcialmente as normas de administracao segura dos medicamentos, visto que atua em convergencia com algumas acoes recomendadas; no entanto, a falta de padronizacao para a administracao dos medicamentos, o alto fluxo de pacientes, a sobrecarga de trabalho e o surgimento de novos medicamentos podem favorecer a ocorrencia de eventos adversos. Faz-se necessario investimento em novas tecnologias e educacao permanente da equipe no ambiente de trabalho. Descritores: Enfermagem; Seguranca do paciente; Erros de medicacao. ADMINISTRATION OF MEDICINES IN AN EMERGENCY SERVICE: ACTIONS UNDERTAKEN AND CHALLENGES FOR SAFE PRACTICES Objective: to analyze the actions taken and the challenges of the nursing team for the safe administration of medications in the emergency department of a teaching hospital. Method: Qualitative research conducted with 17 professionals from the nursing team working in the emergency service. Data collection was carried out through an interview with a semi-structured script and the data were submitted to Content Analysis. Results: the first category revealed the attitudes of the interviewees towards the safe administration of medications, with the majority citing actions that contemplate the 9 right ones from the administration, but in an incomplete way. The second category presented the difficulties and challenges that the team faces in the daily routine for safe administration of medications, such as the high number of patients seen and the lack of knowledge about new medications. Conclusion: it appears that the interviewed nursing team partially complies with the rules for safe administration of medications, since it acts in convergence with some recommended actions; however, the lack of standardization for the administration of medications, the high flow of patients, the work overload and the emergence of new medications can favor the occurrence of adverse events. Investment in new technologies and permanent education of the team in the work environment is necessary. Descriptors: Nursing; Patient safety; Medication errors. ADMINISTRACION DE DROGAS EN UN SERVICIO DE EMERGENCIA: ACCIONES TOMADAS Y DESAFIOS PARA PRACTICAS SEGURAS Objetivo: analizar las acciones tomadas y los desafios del equipo de enfermeria para la administracion segura de medicamentos en el departamento de emergencias de un hospital universitario. Metodo: Investigacion cualitativa realizada con 17 profesionales del equipo de enfermeria que trabajan en el servicio de emergencia. La recoleccion de datos se realizo a traves de una entrevista con un guion semiestructurado y los datos se enviaron a Content Analysis. Resultados: la primera categoria revelo las actitudes de los entrevistados hacia la administracion segura de medicamentos, con la mayoria citando acciones que contemplan las 9 correctas de la administracion, pero de manera incompleta. La segunda categoria presento las dificultades y desafios que enfrenta el equipo en la rutina diaria para la administracion segura de medicamentos, como la gran cantidad de pacientes atendidos y la falta de conocimiento sobre nuevos medicamentos. Conclusion: parece que el equipo de enfermeria entrevistado cumple parcialmente con las reglas para la administracion segura de medicamentos, ya que actua en convergencia con algunas acciones recomendadas; sin embargo, la falta de estandarizacion para la administracion de medicamentos, el alto flujo de pacientes, la sobrecarga de trabajo y la aparicion de nuevos medicamentos pueden favorecer la aparicion de eventos adversos. Es necesaria la inversion en nuevas tecnologias y la educacion permanente del equipo en el entorno laboral. Descriptores: Enfermeria; Seguridad del paciente; Errores de medicacion.

The use of phytotherapy expands the possibility of therapeutic resources for the population, often offering reduced costs when compared to the pharmaceutical industry. In this perspective, the JACBIO® dermocosmetic ointment revealed, in non-clinical trials, its antibacterial and healing potential, with a great stimulating effect in increasing the production of images. This work aimed to carry out the clinical phase study on dermal toxicity, in serious humans, by applying JACBIO®, based on extracts from the leaves of Piptadenia gonoacantha (Pau Jacaré). The phase I randomized clinical trial was carried out with 28 clinically healthy patients at a public university in Minas Gerais, with no period from August to December 2018. The toxicological trial was developed with the intervention group that received a JACBIO® dermatological ointment and the Placebo group. From the experimental protocol, participants were followed for four weeks. An analysis between the ointment and placebo groups, without reference to anticholinergic and cardiovascular events, showed no statistically significant difference. Likewise, there was no difference in laboratory results performed before and after treatment, both for the placebo group and for the intervention group. A low toxicity of the product indicates that this adjustment is safe and serves as a basis for phase II clinical trials in patients with lesions.

Introduction: ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic and, recently, its antidepressant properties has been described. Besides, its safety has been proven in the treatment of Stimulant Use Disorders. Objective: to evaluate the use of ketamine in the treatment of Stimulant Use Disorders (specially cocaine and its byproducts). Methods: patient's motivation for change was measured by URICA scale and psychiatric symptoms by EAS-40 score, both before and after the intervention. Results: it was verified, after the comparison between the Readiness Score means, an increase in the motivation for change after ketamine’s single administration, when compared to the moments before and after the intervention. Analyzing the Global Severity Index before and after ketamine administration, by EAS-40 score, we noticed a slight reduction of the psychiatric symptoms before and after the intervention. Conclusion: it was proven that ketamine's single administration led to a quick and lasting improvement on the user's motivation without worsening the mental health status.

The search for herbal innovations with medicinal properties has intensified. As for this matter, the extracts of Piptadenia gonoacantha, present antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive action, as well as absence of proven toxicity. The objective was to evaluate the antibacterial action of formulations containing extracts of Piptadenia gonoacantha. The extract was prepared and characterized by liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS). This was used for the development of cream, ointment, gel, balm and liquid soaps formulations, being submitted to evaluation, along with the extracts, for antibacterial activity. The characterization of the extract revealed the presence of rutin, ferulic acid, p-coumaric acid, quercitrin, canferol, apigenin and 6-hydroxycoumarin in their constitution. The formulations presented inhibition halos against strains of S. aureus and S. epidermides, with mean efficiency, relative to the positive control, of 47% to 99%. The best results were found for the S. epidermides strain with a mean of 91.5% efficiency in relation to the control. The presence of the metabolites observed in the characterization of the extract justifies the antibacterial action observed in its evaluation, as well as to the formulations. The formulations evaluated have promising antibacterial activity as natural therapeutic alternatives for the treatment of infectious processes.

Food value and safety of a wild macrofungus, Lenzites quercina were investigated. The proximate and mineral composition of raw and fermented L. quercina were assessed using standard methods. Brine shrimp lethality bioassay was adopted for assessment of the toxicological property of the extracts obtained from raw and fermented L. quercina. The result of proximate composition revealed higher protein content (26.15%) in fermented L. quercina, while the value of carbohydrate (38.3%), crude fibre (27.6%), and ash contents (6.5%) were higher (P K> Zn> Fe> Na> Mg> Pb> Cu with values ranging from 4.04 mg/g to 721.6 mg/g. The amino acids in raw and fermented L. quercina ranged from 0.05 mg/g to 23.78 mg/g, while the fatty acids ranged from 0.11% to 38.5%. The mortality rate of the Artemia salina against the extracts was from 8.0% to 38.0% with lethal dose at 50% of population within 49.11 and 250.50 μg/mL. The results from this study revealed that L. quercina possesses essential amino acids, fatty acids, and substantial micro elements, which may be useful in the formulation of functional foods and nutraceuticals.

This study investigated the ability of formulation containing Zingiber officinale (ginger) to reverse health changes promoted by unhealthy diet in Wistar rats. Five compounds from the gingerol family and three from the shogaol family were identified in the chromatographic analyzes of the extract. The animals were fed a combination of unhealthy foods, the cafeteria diet, which promoted increases in body weight, hepatocyte nucleus area, total hepatocyte area and liver fat accumulation, as well as reduced hepatic glutathione S-transferase concentration, compared to the control group, which received commercial chow. The treatment with ginger improved all these results, highlighting the reduction of 10% of body weight and 66% of the total area of lipid droplets deposited, compared to the group that received the cafeteria diet. Ginger treatments also attenuated lipid peroxidation, with a mean reduction of 41% in malondialdehyde levels and a mean increase of 222% in glutathione S-transferase activity in the liver. The cafeteria diet and ginger extract did not promote significant changes in glycemic and lipid profile, liver weight and liver enzymes compared to the control group. We suggest that ginger can have beneficial effects on health complications associated with unhealthy diet, such as excessive adiposity, oxidative stress and hepatic injury.

Objetivo: Identificar os fatores facilitadores e dificultadores envolvidos no processo de notificação de eventos adversos em saúde realizadas pelos enfermeiros que atuam em um hospital da Zona da Mata Mineira. Métodos: Estudo de caso qualitativo realizado por meio de entrevista com roteiro semiestruturado com a participação de 25 enfermeiros. Os dados foram submetidos a análise de conteúdo. Resultados: A partir dos depoimentos, emergiram duas categorias temáticas: Aspectos facilitadores para a realização da notificação de eventos adversos à saúde e “Notificação de eventos adversos: desafios vivenciados pela equipe de enfermagem”. A primeira categoria evidenciou a comunicação eficaz, o trabalho em equipe e o aprendizado a partir da notificação como aspectos que facilitam a realização das notificações. Por sua vez, a segunda categoria apontou a cultura punitiva, a falta de feedback e a sobrecarga de trabalho como aspectos dificultadores. Conclusão: Os profissionais de saúde em sua prática cotidiana, vivenciam a ocorrência de eventos adversos e reconhecem que o processo de notificação é um aspecto fundamental para a promoção da segurança do paciente. Conhecer e determinar a real magnitude dos eventos adversos, é questão primordial para uma gestão de qualidade nas instituições promotoras do cuidado.

Five species of angiosperms collected in the Central Region of Rio Grande do Sul was evaluated due to their pharmacological properties. The objective of this study was to extract and characterize the triterpenic content of angiosperm species. The extracts were obtained by ultrasonic extraction using chloroform as solvent. Identification and quantification were performed using high performance liquid chromatography with UV detection (HPLC-UV). The presence of arjunic acid, maslinic acid, oleanolic acid, erythrodiol, uvaol, lupeol, β-amirin, α-amirin, stigmasterol, and β-sitosterol was observed. All species presented β-sitosterol. Polygala pulchella presented the greatest diversity of triterpenic compounds, while Ruellia angustiflora and Moquiniastrum mollissimum the least. Paspalum rawitscheri and Hesperozygis ringens presented the same constituents, differing from each other only quantitatively. Therefore, an overview of the triterpene constitution in species of the central region of the state of RS is presented, along with a review on the pharmacological properties of the investigated compounds. The results obtained in this work are relevant since they stablish an overview of the chemical constitution of the extracts whose biology is still little known. The pharmacological potential of the species can be attributed the identified triterpenic constituents thus supporting the use for medicinal purposes.

Compreender as concepções e práticas dos enfermeiros sobre a Educação Permanente no ambiente hospitalar. Pesquisa conduzida pela abordagem qualitativa realizada com 12 enfermeiros em um hospital filantrópico no interior de Minas Gerais, no período de abril a junho de 2014. Utilizaram-se entrevistas com roteiro semiestruturado. Os dados empíricos foram organizados mediante análise de conteúdo. Evidenciou-se que a educação permanente é concebida como treinamentos formais predominando a metodologia da transmissão de conhecimentos. O desinteresse e a falta de tempo foram aspectos dificultadores enquanto realização da prática no horário e ambiente de trabalho bem como a autonomia do profissional foram facilitadores. Sua implementação é permeada por barreiras como o dimensionamento inadequado e alcançar metas estabelecidas pela gestão da qualidade, mas apesar das dificuldades existentes, a Educação Permanente traz inúmeras contribuições para o serviço como redução de gastos, proporciona a oportunidade de conviver e conhecer a equipe de saúde e a transformação do processo de trabalho. A Educação Permanente ainda precisa romper com a prática baseada no modelo tradicional, a forma fragmentada e cumprimento de metas.

RESUMO Introdução: Biomarcadores vem sendo utilizados para monitorar o uso do álcool e, atualmente, os mais sensíveis e específicos são enzimas hepáticas, por exemplo, gama glutamiltransferase (GGT), alanina aminotransferase (ALT), aspartato aminotransferase (AST) e fosfatase alcalina (ALP). Objetivo: Verificar, a partir da experimentação animal, as alterações provocadas pelo uso de álcool e pela prática de atividade física nas enzimas hepáticas e pancreáticas. Métodos: Vinte e quatro ratos da linhagem Wistar foram distribuídos aleatoriamente em grupos experimentais, alojados em gaiolas com ambiente controlado, divididos de acordo com os tratamentos recebidos. No tratamento inicial, foi administrado álcool aos grupos álcool sedentário (AS) e álcool exercitado (AE) e, ao final da quarta semana, iniciou-se o programa de treinamento físico em esteira com os grupos AE e controle exercitado (CE). A coleta de sangue foi realizada por punção cardíaca ao final de cada experimento. Na análise estatística, utilizou-se teste de análise de variância (ANOVA) seguido de teste de Tukey e teste de Kruskal-Wallis. Resultados: O grupo AS apresentou valores significativamente mais elevados de ALT e ALP quando comparado aos grupos CE e AE, respectivamente. Não foram observadas diferenças significativas entre os quatro grupos estudados para os parâmetros AST, GGT e amilase. Conclusão: A associação entre consumo de álcool e sedentarismo aumentou a liberação das enzimas ALT e ALP em ratos Wistar; a prática de exercício físico aeróbico após abstinência alcoólica evitou o aumento da liberação de ALP no plasma desses animais. ABSTRACT Introduction: Biomarkers have been used to monitor the use of alcohol and currently the most sensitive and specific are the liver enzymes, for example, gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP). Objective: To determine through animal experiments the changes caused by alcohol and the physical activity in liver and pancreatic enzymes. Methods: Twenty-four Wistar rats were randomly assigned into experimental groups, housed in cages with controlled environment, divided according to the treatment received. In the initial treatment, alcohol was administered to sedentary alcohol (SA) and exercised alcohol (EA) groups and at the end of the fourth week the program of physical training on a treadmill began with the AE and control exercised (CE) groups. Blood collection was performed by cardiac puncture at the end of each experiment. For the statistical analysis we used analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by Tukey test and Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: The AS group had significantly higher values of ALT and ALP when compared to CE and EA groups, respectively. No significant differences were observed between the four groups for the parameters AST, GGT and amylase. Conclusion: The association between alcohol consumption and physical inactivity increased the release of the enzymes ALT and ALP in Wistar rats; the practice of aerobic exercise after alcohol withdrawal prevented the increased release of ALP in the plasma of these animals. RESUMEN Introducción: Los biomarcadores se han utilizado para controlar el consumo de alcohol y en la actualidad las enzimas hepáticas son las más sensibles y específicas, por ejemplo, gamma glutamil transferasa (GGT), alanina aminotransferasa (ALT), aspartato aminotransferasa (AST) y fosfatasa alcalina (ALP). Objetivo: Determinar, a partir de experimentos con animales, los cambios provocados por el alcohol y la actividad física en las enzimas hepáticas y pancreáticas. Métodos: Veinticuatro ratones Wistar fueron asignados al azar a los grupos experimentales, fueron alojados en jaulas con ambiente controlado, divididos de acuerdo a los tratamientos recibidos. En el tratamiento inicial, el alcohol se administró a los grupos alcohol sedentario (AS) y alcohol ejercicio (AE) y el final de la cuarta semana, se inició el programa de entrenamiento físico en una caminadora con los grupos AE y el control ejercitado (CE). La recogida de sangre se realizó mediante punción cardiaca al final de cada experimento. En el análisis estadístico se utilizó el análisis de varianza (ANOVA), seguido por la prueba de Tukey y la prueba de Kruskal-Wallis. Resultados: El grupo AS tuvo valores significativamente más elevados de ALT y ALP en comparación con los grupos CE y AE, respectivamente. No se observaron diferencias significativas entre los cuatro grupos para los parámetros de AST, GGT y amilasa. Conclusión: La asociación entre el consumo de alcohol y la falta de actividad física aumenta la liberación de las enzimas ALT y ALP en ratones Wistar; la práctica de ejercicio aeróbico después de la retirada del alcohol impidió el aumento de la liberación de ALP en el plasma de estos animales.

In this work, the antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of Brassica oleracea var. capitata extracts obtained through ultrasound-assisted extraction are evaluated. The extracts obtained using the best extraction conditions were subjected to different hydrolysis conditions before their use in the biological tests. The crude and hydrolysed extracts were characterized using gas chromatography coupled with a mass detector. The use of ultrasound at 30 °C with 60 % (by volume) solvent enabled obtaining a richer extract. All extracts had antioxidant activities against DPPH (13.0–80.0 %), superoxide (35.2–63.2 %) and peroxyl (89.3–99.5 %) radicals, but the use of hydrolysed extracts considerably improved the antioxidant activities. Antimicrobial activities only of the hydrolysed extracts of Brassica oleracea var. capitata were detected. It was confirmed that antioxidant activity of vegetable extracts can be considerably increased when hydrolysis is applied as a pretreatment to their extraction.

Objectives: To investigate the effects of physical training on the liver morphology and morphometry after chronic use of alcohol in rats. Methods: Twenty-four Wistar rats were housed in cages with controlled environment and randomly divided into four groups according to treatment received. In the initial treatment, alcohol was administered to SA (sedentary alcohol) and EA (exercise alcohol) groups. After four weeks, physical training program was held on a treadmill with EA and EC (exercise control) groups. Area, perimeter, maximum and minimum diameter and form factor of nucleus and cytoplasm of hepatocytes were analyzed. Key findings: Micro-vesicular fatty degeneration, predominantly pericentrolobular, of mild to moderate intensity, was found especially in animals treated with alcohol. EC group showed nucleus area greater than the nucleus area of EA and SA groups. The form factor was lower in the EC group than in the EA group. EA group showed maximum cytoplasm diameter is smaller than in SC (sedentary control) group. Conclusions: Physical training for two weeks was not enough to suppress histopathologic changes in the liver caused by chronic use of alcohol in rats. Chronic use of alcohol seems to have minimized the beneficial effect of physical training in the nucleus area of hepatocytes.

In this work, the antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of Brassica oleracea var. capitata extracts obtained through ultrasound-assisted extraction are evaluated. The extracts obtained using the best extraction conditions were subjected to different hydrolysis conditions before their use in the biological tests. The crude and hydrolysed extracts were characterized using gas chromatography coupled with a mass detector. The use of ultrasound at 30 °C with 60% (by volume) solvent enabled obtaining a richer extract. All extracts had antioxidant activities against DPPH (13.0–80.0%), superoxide (35.2–63.2%) and peroxyl (89.3–99.5%) radicals, but the use of hydrolysed extracts considerably improved the antioxidant activities. Antimicrobial activities only of the hydrolysed extracts of Brassica oleracea var. capitata were detected. It was confirmed that antioxidant activity of vegetable extracts can be considerably increased when hydrolysis is applied as a pretreatment to their extraction.

Introduction: Scar is defined as a process of tissue regeneration characterized by fibroblasts and a disorganized extracellular matrix, formed mainly by collagen. Thus it is understood that regeneration capacity is a phenomenon that occurs in order to repair an injured tissue. However, science has been looking for alternatives to assist in the repair process, and thus phytotherapy has been used as a therapeutic resource in medicine, and scientifically proven its efficiency. The plant Sonchus oleraceus is known, among other names, as “serralha” or sowthistle. It is a cosmopolitan species, found in several agricultural regions infesting crops. In Brazil, it is more frequent to grow in the winter and its seeds can be kept viable for eight years in the soil. This plant can be used as a popular drug for diuretic proposals, in cases of anemia, liver diseases and in cases of treatment of vitiligo in the eastern region of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The objective of this research was to evaluate two different products (ointment and balsam) composed by S. oleraceus in the healing of surgical wounds in rats (Rattus novergicus).Materials, Methods & Results: Sonchus oleraceus specimens were obtained at the beginning of May, during the autumnwinter season, in which there is already a flowering of this plant. The leaves and stem of S. oleraceus were selected, cleaned and dried under study at 40°C of circulating air for four days for complete dehydration, and then ground in a knife mill. The constituents were prepared in 80% alcohol (v / v) and subjected to ultrasonic extraction for 60 min. The hydroalcoholic extract of S. oleraceus was concentrated on a rotary evaporator until all alcohol evaporated and the aqueous extract was obtained. The extracts were produced at concentrations of 5%, 10% and 15% and sent for manipulation of the pharmaceutical formulations of ointment and salve. Forty Wistar rats were divided into eight groups for evaluation of different products (salve and ointment). The wounds were created on the back of the animals and the products were applied daily; for analysis, clinical evaluations and wound measurement were performed daily. After 15 days, a biopsy was performed for histopathological analysis and quantification of type I and III collagen fibers. Measurement of the wound in rats treated with ointment containing 15% of extract presented better tissue retraction, with complete retraction observed after 10 days of treatment. Type I collagen was predominant in all samples; however, the healing properties of the balsam containing 5% extract and ointment containing 5% and 15% extract were significantly different.Discussion: As a conclusion, Sonchus oleraceus influenced the healing process of the skin. This pharmacological action is probably directly related to the amount of flavonoids present in its composition, that is, the higher the extract concentration, the better its efficacy. However, a better efficacy in the ointment is emphasized by better adhesion to the skin. Studies have shown that the flavonoids present in most plants have relevant healing activity, stimulating the proliferation of fibroblasts and the production of collagen, acting on the inhibition of metalloproteinase, thus increasing the rate of synthesized collagen. Other researchers reported a high concentration of flavonoids (anthocyanins and tannins) that act as mediators of inflammation, stimulating the production of inflammatory cytokines and tumor necrosis factor, observed in this species.

O objetivo do trabalho foi verificar a capacidade dos extratos de abacate, acerola e do flavonoide naringina sobre o perfil sanguineo e verificar se nao alteram os perfis glicemicos e de acido urico de ratos Wistar. Os ratos foram alimentados com racoes hipercolesterolemica ou nao hipercolesterolemica (controle) e os extratos de acerola, abacate e o fitoterapico naringina foram oferecidos aos animais via gavagem. Utilizou-se cinquenta e quatro animais divididos em nove grupos com seis animais cada, sendo um deles nao doente, outro doente nao tratado, e os restantes grupos testes. Apos a eutanasia coletou-se o sangue por puncao cardiaca e centrifugada para a obtencao do soro. Posteriormente realizou-se dosagens de colesterol total, colesterol-HDL, triacilglicerois, glicose, alanina aminotransferase (ALT), aspartato aminotransferase (AST), fosfatase alcalina (FA) e acido urico. Como resultado pode se obervar uma reducao significativa nos teores de colesterol total e nao houve alteracao nos valores de AST, ALT e FA em todos os tratamentos, com excecao do grupo que recebeu 50mg/Kg de extrato de acerola, que tambem foi a unica dose a promover aumento significativo nos teores de HDL. Quanto aos triacilglicerois, somente os extratos de abacate e a menor dose do extrato de acerola promoveram aumento significativo.

A medicina laboratorial e uma especialidade responsavel pela realizacao de exames complementares a pratica clinica medica, sendo a coleta de sangue venoso uma das tecnicas mais utilizadas nos servicos de saude. O ensino desta subarea da medicina, como a educacao medica de modo geral, vem sendo reformulado de modo a incluir novas metodologias, uma delas o uso de materiais audiovisuais. O estudo teve por objetivo desenvolver um documentario para o ensino de coleta de sangue venoso, buscando demonstrar todos os passos desse procedimento, bem como detalhar outras variaveis pre-analiticas que podem causar interferencias nos exames laboratoriais. Para a confeccao e a validacao do documentario foram obtidas mais de 60 minutos de filmagem, editados para um documentario de 18 minutos. Para validacao foram utilizados tres diferentes instrumentos: portfolios, grupos-focais aplicados aos autores e questionarios aplicados em diferentes publicos. Apos aplicacao dos questionarios, foi constatado que os recursos audiovisuais funcionam como um bom metodo de ensino, complementar ao ensino tradicional. Este estudo nao postula, porem, a superioridade de um metodo em relacao ao outro, apenas afirma que o uso de documentarios mostrou-se como um eficaz e importante instrumento didatico para auxilio no ensino.
