The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of light quality and the plant growth regulators 2-isopentenyl adenine (2-ip) and indol 3-butyric acid (IBA) on in vitro multiplication and rooting of ‘Woodard’ blueberry. The experiments were arranged in a completely randomized design, with three light quality levels (red, blue, and white), and two plant growth regulator levels (presence or absence of either 100 mg L-1 2-ip or 0.5 mg L-1 IBA, in the multiplication and rooting experiments, respectively). The parameters assessed in both experiments were survival rate (%), number of shoots per explants shoot length (cm); number of leaves per explant, and leaf area (cm2). In the multiplication experiment was also quantified the photosynthetic pigments contents [chlorophyll (chl) a and chl b, chl a + b, and carotenoids] and in the rooting trial the root number and length. The results show that the presence of 2-ip in association with white light results in longer shoots, as well as greater number of shoots and leaves. The greastest leaf area was observed with white light. Root number and length was greater in the presence of IBA in the medium. The association of white fluorescent light and the presence of either 2-isopentenyl adenine (2-ip) or indole 3-butyric acid (IBA) in the medium, provides the best results for in vitro multiplication and rooting, respectively, of ‘Woodard’ blueberry. El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar el efecto de la calidad de la luz y de los reguladores de crecimiento 2-isopentenil adenina (2-ip) y ácido indol 3-butírico (AIB) sobre la multiplicación y enraizamiento in vitro del arándano 'Woodard'. Los experimentos se organizaron en un diseño completamente aleatorizado, con tres niveles de calidad de luz (rojo, azul y blanco) y dos niveles de regulador del crecimiento vegetal (presencia o ausencia de 100 mg L-1 2-ip o 0.5 mg L-1 AIB, en los experimentos de multiplicación y enraizamiento, respectivamente). Los parámetros evaluados en ambos experimentos fueron tasa de supervivencia (%), número de brotes por explante, el largo de los brotes (cm); número de hojas por explante y área foliar (cm2). En el experimento de multiplicación también se cuantificó el contenido de pigmentos fotosintéticos [clorofila (chl) ay chl b, chl a + b y carotenoides] y en el ensayo de enraizamiento el número y largo de la raíz. Los resultados muestran que la presencia de 2-ip en asociación con la luz blanca da como resultado brotes más largos, así como un mayor número de brotes y hojas. La mayor superficie foliar se observó con luz blanca. El número y largo de la raíz fueron mayores en presencia de AIB en el medio. La asociación de luz fluorescente blanca y la presencia de 2-isopentenil adenina (2-ip) o ácido indol 3-butírico (IBA) en el medio proporciona los mejores resultados para la multiplicación y enraizamiento in vitro, respectivamente, del arándano 'Woodard'. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o efeito da qualidade da luz e dos reguladores de crescimento 2-isopentenil adenina (2-ip) e ácido indol 3-butírico (AIB) na multiplicação in vitro e enraizamento do mirtilo ‘Woodard’. Os experimentos foram organizados em um delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com três níveis de qualidade de luz (vermelho, azul e branco) e dois níveis de regulador de crescimento vegetal (presença ou ausência de 100 mg L-1 2-ip ou 0,5 mg L-1 AIB, nos experimentos de multiplicação e enraizamento, respectivamente). Os parâmetros avaliados em ambos os experimentos foram taxa de sobrevivência (%), número de brotos por explante, comprimento dos brotos (cm); número de folhas por explante e área foliar (cm2). No experimento de multiplicação também foi quantificado o conteúdo de pigmentos fotossintéticos [clorofila (chl) a e chl b, chl a + b, e carotenóides] e no ensaio de enraizamento o número e comprimento da raiz. Os resultados mostram que a presença de 2-ip em associação com a luz branca resulta em brotações mais longas, bem como em maior número de brotos e folhas. A maior área foliar foi observada com luz branca. O número e o comprimento da raiz foram maiores na presença de AIB no meio. A associação de luz fluorescente branca e a presença de 2-isopentenil adenina (2-ip) ou ácido indol 3-butírico (AIB) no meio fornece os melhores resultados para multiplicação in vitro e enraizamento, respectivamente, de 'Woodard' mirtilo.

Here we evaluate the effect of quality and quantity of light on growth and secondary metabolism of Achillea millefolium L. plants. Plants were cultivated under either full light or colored shading nets (blue, red or black). Analyzes were performed after eight weeks of shading and two and four weeks after the removal of the nets. Plants grown under nets presented lower dry weight of leaves and flowers. In addition, the synthesis of phenols and flavonoids decreased in leaves and flowers of shaded plants. On the other hand, the blue net increased the content of essential oil yield in leaves. The concentration of the majority of the compounds analyzed in the essential oil increased when using the black net. Farnesol and chamazulene were the most plenteous compounds in the oil of leaves and flowers in all conditions. Overall, these results indicate that different compounds respond differently to specific light lengths in A. millefolium plants. Thus, the photoselective treatments should be directed to the production of the target metabolite., (Plantas de Achillea millefolium L. crescidas sob sombreamento com malhas coloridas possuem alterações no metabolismo secundário). O efeito da qualidade e quantidade de luz no crescimento e metabolismo secundário foram avaliados em plantas de Achillea millefolium L.. As plantas foram cultivadas sob luz plena ou sob redes coloridas (azul, vermelho e preto) e avaliadas após oito semanas de sombreamento e após duas e quatro semanas da retirada das redes. Plantas sombreadas apresentaram menores valores de matéria seca de folhas e flores. Além disso, a síntese de fenóis e flavonóides diminuiu em folhas e flores de plantas sombreadas. Por outro lado, a rede azul aumentou o teor de óleo essencial nas folhas. A concentração da maioria dos compostos analisados no óleo essencial das plantas aumentou quando se utilizou a rede preta. Farnesol e chamazuleno foram os compostos mais abundantes no óleo essencial de folhas e flores em todas as condições. De forma geral, esses resultados demonstram como os compostos secundários respondem diferentemente à qualidade da luz em plantas de A. millefolium. Assim, os tratamentos fotosseletivos devem ser direcionados para a produção do metabólito de interesse.

Soybean has great economic importance in Brazilian agriculture and the productivity and the profitability are key aspects. The employ of seeds with high germination and vigor associated with fertilizer availability and rates is very important to achieve an adequate plant stand, high yield and quality of seeds. In this context, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of the fertilization management through seed treatment and foliar application on yield components and physiological quality of soybean seeds. The experimental design was a randomized block with four replications and six treatments, composing by a control and five different nutrient combinations (CoMo, Complet, Phosphorous Potassium, Manganese and CaB). These combinations were applied through seed treatment or foliar at different times. Considering the set of agronomic traits the treatment 2 is the most efficient technically. Seed produced under the treatment 4 showed physiological quality inferior to the other, considering the variables analyzed., A soja possui grande importância económica na agricultura brasileira e, assim como em outras culturas, a produtividade e a lucro são aspectos fundamentais. A utilização de sementes com elevada germinação e vigor associados a disponibilidade de fertilizantes na dose apropriada é de suma importância para se atingir adequado estande de plantas, elevada produtividade e sementes de qualidade. Nesse contexto, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o efeito do manejo da adubação via tratamento de sementes e aplicação foliar sobre os componentes do rendimento e a qualidade fisiológica de sementes de soja. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi em blocos casualizados, com quatro repetições e seis tratamentos, constituídos por uma testemunha e cinco combinações de diferentes nutrientes (CoMo, Completo, Fosfito de potássio, Manganês e CaB). As combinações foram aplicadas via tratamento de sementes ou via foliar em diferentes épocas. Considerando o conjunto de características agronómicas avaliadas o T2 foi o mais eficiente tecnicamente. A semente produzida sob o tratamento 4 apresentou qualidade fisiológica inferior aos demais, considerando as variáveis analisadas.

O cultivo de soja em terras baixas no Sul do país vem com o intuito de melhorar aspectos dos solos dessa região, e combater algumas espécies daninhas que adquiriram resistência a tecnologias aplicadas no arroz, devido ao longo período de monocultivo. Porém algumas características destes solos dificultam o cultivo de espécies de sequeiro. Desta forma, este estudo teve por objetivo compreender as respostas fisiológicas de plantas submetidas a diferentes formas de manejo, com o objetivo de auxiliar no aperfeiçoamento de técnicas para produzir soja em terras baixas. Foram conduzidos dois experimentos neste estudo utilizando a cultivar BMX Ícone, sendo o primeiro em casa-de-vegetação e o segundo em condições de campo, ambos na safra 2017/18. O primeiro estudo avaliou altura de plantas, área foliar, teor e fluorescência de clorofila, assim como os índices de balanço de nitrogênio e flavonoides, de plantas submetidas a sete densidades do solo (1,4; 1,5; 1,6; 1,7; 1,8; 1,9; 2,0 kg dm-3) e dois de umidade (10 e 50 kPa). Plantas submetidas a densidades entre 1,5 e 1,7 kg dm-3 apresentaram desempenho mais satisfatório, de forma que a condição de estresse hídrico demonstrou ser a mais limitante ao desenvolvimento da cultura. O estudo de campo avaliou diferentes sistemas de manejo do solo a campo, sendo estes: preparo do solo (com e sem escarificação) e sistema de cultivo (sulco-camalhão e convencional), sendo realizadas avaliações de teor de clorofilas, índice de balanço de nitrogênio, flavonoides e fluorescência da clorofila em três épocas com diferentes condições hídricas, e a análise de crescimento vegetal. As plantas apresentaram melhor desenvolvimento quando cultivadas sob sistema de sulco-camalhão, que possibilita melhor zona de aeração para o sistema radicular e umidade do solo, uma vez que esta técnica de manejo permite a utilização de irrigação. Soybean is a crop of great economic importance worldwide with a rising production chain, attracting producers attention, including rice farmers in Rio Grande do Sul. Soybean cultivation in lowland areas in Southern Brazil aims to improve soil aspects, and to allow controlling some weeds that are now resistanr to herbicides applied in rice, due to the long monoculture period. However, some characteristics of these soils make it difficult to grow upland crop species. In this way, the aim of this study was to understand the physiological responses of soybean plants submitted to different soil management methods, with aim of assisting in making viable the production of soybean in lowlands. Two studies were conducted with the cultivar BMX Ícone, being the first one in greenhouse and the second one in field conditions, both in 2017/18 cropping season. In the experiment at greenhouse were evaluated plant height, leaf area, chlorophyll content and fluorescence, as well as nitrogen balance and flavonoid indexes, in plants submitted to seven soil densities (1.4, 1.5, 1, 6, 1.7, 1.8, 1.9, 2.0 kg dm-3) and two humidity levels (10 and 50 kPa). Plants submitted to densities between 1.5 and 1.7 kg dm-3 presented a more satisfactory performance, so that water stress condition proved to be the most limiting for crop development. The field study evaluated different soil management systems, being: soil tillage (with and without chiseling) and cultivation system (raised-bed and conventional), being carried out evaluations of chlorophyll content, nitrogen balance index, flavonoids and chlorophyll fluorescence in three seasons with different water conditions, as well as a plant growth analysis. Plants showed better development when cultivated under a raised-bed system, which allows a better aeration zone for root system and soil moisture, since this management technique allows the use of irrigation.

As plantas podem mitigar esses impactos através da conversão fotossintética do CO2 atmosférico em carboidratos ou outros compostos orgânicos, porém, o potencial para esta conversão e as respostas das plantas às mudanças climáticas ainda continua incerto. Neste sentido, o estudo do metabolismo do carbono e do nitrogênio em plantas sob atmosfera enriquecida com CO2 se faz necessário afim de entender o comportamento das plantas nesse cenário de mudanças climáticas. Desta forma, o presente trabalho teve por objetivo caracterizar o efeito do aumento da concentração CO2 atmosférico sob as trocas gasosas, metabolismo do carbono e nitrogênio e produção de plantas de arroz irrigado da cultivar IRGA 424 RI. Assim, foram conduzidos dois estudos, a partir do cultivo de plantas de arroz irrigado em câmaras de topo aberto (OTC’S) com duas concentrações de CO2, 400 (ambiente) e 700 (elevado). Nos estádios vegetativos (V5 e V11) e reprodutivos (R2 e R7) ocorreram as avaliações. Quanto as trocas gasosas, plantas cultivadas sob elevado CO2 apresentaram um aumento na taxa de assimilação líquida de CO2, maior eficiência no uso da água e maior concentração intercelular de CO2 em pelo menos três dos quatro estádios fenológicos avaliados. Para a condutância estomática, índice de clorofila, índice de balanço de nitrogênio, porcentagem de nitrogênio nas folhas e peso de mil grãos foram encontrados os menores valores para esse tratamento. O segundo estudo mostrou alterações na atividade enzimática relacionada ao metabolismo do nitrogênio, aumentando a atividade das enzimas glutamina sintetase e nitrato redutase em folhas e raízes sob elevado CO2, bem como, maior conteúdo de nitrato, amido, polissacarídeos solúveis em água e açúcares solúveis totais em folhas no primeiro estádio fenológico avaliado. Em raízes, observou-se o inverso para o teor de nitrato e amido em V5, obtendo-se os menores valores para o tratamento com elevado CO2. Sendo assim, o elevado CO2 aumenta a taxa fotossintética, o consumo de nitrogênio e a eficiência do uso da água e reduz a condutância estomática, alterando a alocação de carboidratos, intensificando a atividade da glutamina sintetase em V11 e da nitrato redutase em todos os períodos avaliados nas folhas. Since industrial era to present day, CO2 concentration in atmosphere has increased, directly impacting crops development. Plants can mitigate these impacts through photosynthetic conversion of atmospheric CO2 into carbohydrates or other organic compounds, but the potential for this conversion and plant responses to climate change remains uncertain. In this sense, carbon and nitrogen metabolism studies in plants under CO2 enriched atmosphere are necessary in order to understand plants behavior in this climate change scenario. Thus, present work aimed to characterize the effect of increase CO2 atmospheric concentration under gas exchanges, carbon and nitrogen metabolism and irrigated rice plants production of cultivar IRGA 424 RI. Therefore, two studies were conducted, from of irrigated rice plants cultivation open top chambers (OTC'S) with two CO2 concentrations, 400 (ambient) and 700ppm (high). Evaluations occurred in vegetative (V5 and V11) and reproductive stages (R2 and R7). In relation to gas exchanges, plants cultivated under high CO2 presented an increase in CO2 net assimilation rate, greater efficiency in water use and higher intercellular CO2 concentration in at least three of four phenological stages evaluated. For stomatal conductance, chlorophyll index, nitrogen balance index, nitrogen percentage in leaves and 1000-grain weight were found the lowest values for this treatment. Second study showed changes in enzymatic activity related to nitrogen metabolism, increasing activity of glutamine synthetase enzymes and nitrate reductase in leaves and roots under high CO2, as well as higher nitrate, starch, water soluble polysaccharides and total soluble sugars content in leaves in the first phenological stage evaluated. In roots, inverse was observed for nitrate and starch content in V5, obtaining lowest values for high CO2 treatment. Thus, high CO2 increases photosynthetic rate, nitrogen consumption and water use efficiency and reduces stomatal conductance, altering carbohydrates allocation and intensifying glutamine synthetase activity in V11 and nitrate reductase in all periods evaluated in leaves.

Assim, o presente trabalho visou avaliar as respostas morfofisiológicas de plantas de diferentes cultivares de mirtileiro instaladas sob a influência de dois fatores edafoclimáticos, em dois momentos diferentes. Para tanto, foram conduzidos dois estudos: O primeiro, objetivou avaliar o efeito do pH no crescimento in vitro de duas cultivares pertencentes a dois grupos diferentes de mirtilo (‘Duke’ e ‘Woodard’ – Northern Highbush e Rabbiteye, respectivamente), para o qual explantes caulinares de ambas espécies foram inoculados em quatro condições de pH em meio WPM , sendo analisadas as variáveis respostas: altura de planta, número e comprimento de brotos, número de folhas, taxa de multiplicação, porcentagem de calo, massa seca, massa fresca e conteúdo de água. O segundo estudo teve como objetivo determinar o motivo das diferenças na floração de três cultivares de mirtilo Rabbiteye (‘Climax’, ‘Bluegen’ e ‘Powderblue’) no estado de Rio Grande do Sul, por meio da avaliação de parâmetros morfológicos, fisiológicos e bioquímicos durante a saída do repouso invernal. No primeiro estudo, o pH 6,2 permitiu melhores resultados de multiplicação nas duas cultivares testados, sendo que a ‘Duke’ foi a mais vigorosa. No segundo estudo, a alta variabilidade climática da localidade impediu o ingresso à endodormência nas cultivares avaliadas, as quais permaneceram em estado de repouso. Neste estado, o metabolismo dos carboidratos foi responsivo às condições ambientais principalmente quando maior era o conteúdo de água da gema. A concentração de AIA e GA3 foi influenciada pelas condições climáticas nas cultivares ‘Climax’ e ‘Powderblue’, não assim na ‘Bluegen’. Ainda, o incremento na relação GA3/ABA determinou o momento da floração, que por sua vez permitiu o incremento de prolina nas gemas. Assim, a interação clima x cultivar ocasionou variação para o início da floração entre as três cultivares avaliadas, sendo a primeira a florescer a cultivar ‘Climax’. Em suma, destaca-se a importância da escolha da cultivar levando em consideração as características edafoclimáticas da região de implantação do pomar. In view of the expansion of new blueberry producing areas and the great genetic variability of the blueberry crop, understanding the genotype-environment interactions is important. The present work aims to evaluate the morphophysiological responses of different blueberry cultivars grown under the influence of two edaphoclimatic factors, at two different stages. To this end, two studies were conducted. The goal of the first study was to evaluate the effect of pH on in vitro growth of two cultivars belonging to two different groups of blueberry ('Duke' and 'Woodard' - Northern Highbush and Rabbiteye, respectively), for which caulinar explants, from both species, were inoculated in four pH conditions in Woody Plant Medium. The following variables were analyzed: plant height, number and length of shoots, number of leaves, multiplication rate, callus percentage, dry mass, fresh mass and water content. The second study aimed to determine the reason for the flowering differences of three Rabbiteye blueberry cultivars ('Climax', 'Bluegen' and 'Powderblue'), in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, through the evaluation of morphological, physiological, and biochemical parameters at the end of the resting period. In the first study, a pH of 6.2 afforded better multiplication results in the two cultivars tested, and the Duke cultivar was the most vigorous. In the second study, the high climatic variability of the location prevented entrance to dormancy in the cultivars evaluated, which remained in resting state. In this state, carbohydrate metabolism was responsive to environmental conditions, especially when the water content of the yolk was higher. The concentration of AIA and GA3 were influenced by climatic conditions in the cultivars 'Climax' and 'Powderblue', but not in the 'Bluegen'. In addition, the increase in the GA3 / ABA ratio determined the moment of flowering, which in turn allowed the increase of proline in the buds. Thus, the climate-cultivar interaction caused differences in the time of flowering between the three evaluated cultivars, such that the first to bloom was 'Climax'. Finally, the importance of the choice of cultivar is emphasized, considering the edaphoclimatic characteristics of the region where the implantation of the orchard will happen.

Assim, é importante caracterizar os efeitos na cultura, bem como selecionar genótipos com maior tolerância a tais estresses. Neste contexto, objetivouse avaliar, inicialmente, genótipos contrastantes de arroz irrigado (Nagina 22 e BRS Querência – tolerante e sensível a temperaturas elevadas, respectivamente) quando submetidos a temperaturas supraótimas no estádio vegetativo; posteriormente, os mesmos genótipos quando expostos a temperatura noturna elevada durante o estádio reprodutivo; e, ainda, 42 genótipos de arroz irrigado quanto a sua variabilidade fenotípica expostos a temperaturas infraótimas no estádio inicial de desenvolvimento (V2), utilizando-se de uma plataforma de fenotipagem. No primeiro estudo, os genótipos foram submetidos a dois gradientes de temperaturas: controle (temperatura ambiente) e temperatura supraótima (com elevação de 3-5 °C durante o dia e 1-2°C durante a noite em relação ao controle) desde a semeadura até 42 dias após a emergência; no segundo estudo, os mesmos genótipos foram expostos a diferentes temperaturas noturnas no estádio reprodutivo, sendo essas de 22 °C (controle) e 28 °C (temperatura noturna elevada), sendo avaliados parâmetros bioquímicos, fisiológicos e de rendimento; no terceiro estudo, os genótipos foram submetidos a temperaturas infraótimas (entre 13 e 17 °C) durante o estádio fenológico V2, e tiveram sua capacidade de recuperação avaliada. No primeiro estudo, temperaturas supraótimas no estádio vegetativo incrementaram em duas vezes a taxa de assimilação líquida de CO2 do genótipo tolerante, enquanto não modificou significativamente a do genótipo sensível, o qual apresentou redução de 20% na massa seca de raízes. No segundo estudo, temperatura noturna elevada ocasionou maior atividade das enzimas fenilalanina amônia-liase (270%) e peroxidase (80%), redução nos açúcares solúveis totais (-30%), incremento da esterilidade de espigueta (8%) e decréscimo no peso de 1000 grãos (-13%) no genótipo sensível ao calor. Ainda, as características de termotolerância do genótipo tolerante a temperaturas supraótimas permitem vislumbrar o seu uso como material fonte em programas de melhoramento vegetal. No terceiro estudo visualizou-se que temperaturas infraótimas impostas no estádio fenológico V2 exercem efeitos negativos na taxa de transporte de elétrons, rendimento quântico fotoquímico efetivo do FSII e índice de clorofila de genótipos de arroz irrigado, sendo que os materiais Sel. TB 1211-3, CTB 1419, CTB 1444, CTB 1455 e AB 13720 apresentam maior tolerância e capacidade de recuperação a tal estresse. Destaca-se a funcionalidade da fenotipagem fisiológica não-invasiva, a qual pode ser inserida em programas de melhoramento vegetal, permitindo a caracterização e seleção de genótipos com ampla variabilidade genética. The increase in the frequency of occurrence of extreme climatic events, like waves of infra and supra-optimal temperatures, can cause stress in rice plants. Thus, it is important to characterize the effects on the crop, as well as to select genotypes with greater tolerance to such stresses. In this context, the objective was to evaluate, initially, contrasting genotypes of irrigated rice (Nagina 22 and BRS Querênciatolerante and sensitive to high temperatures, respectively) when submitted to supraoptimal temperatures at the vegetative stage; later, the same genotypes when exposed to the elevated temperature of the night during the reproductive stage; and also 42 genotypes of irrigated rice for their phenotypic variability exposed to infra-optimal temperatures at the initial stage of development (V2), using a phenotype platform. In the first study, the genotypes were submitted to two temperature gradients: control (ambient temperature) and supra-optimal temperature (elevation of 3-5 ° C during the day and 1-2 °C at night in relation to the control) from sowing up to 42 days after emergence; in the second study, the same genotypes were exposed to different night temperatures at the reproductive stage, being 22 °C (control) and 28 °C (high night temperature), being evaluated biochemical, physiological and yield parameters; in the third study, genotypes were submitted to infra-optimal temperatures (between 13 and 17 ° C) during phenological stage V2, and their recovery capacity was evaluated. In the first study, supra-optimal temperatures at the vegetative stage increased twice the rate of CO2 assimilation of the tolerant genotype, while it did not significantly modify that of the sensitive genotype, which presented a 20% reduction in dry mass of roots. In the second study, elevated night temperature resulted in higher activity of phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (270%) and peroxidase (80%) enzymes, reduction in total soluble sugars (-30%), increase in spikelet sterility (8%) and decrease in weight of 1000 grains (-13%) in the heat sensitive genotype. Furthermore, the thermotolerance characteristics of the genotype tolerant to supra-optimal temperatures allow to see its use as a source material in plant breeding programs. In the third study it was visualized that infra-optimal temperatures imposed in phenological stage V2 exert negative effects on the rate of electron transport, effective photochemical quantum yield of FSII and chlorophyll index of irrigated rice genotypes, being that the materials Sel. TB 1211-3, CTB 1419, CTB 1444, CTB 1455 and AB 13720 present greater tolerance and recovery capacity at such stress. The functionality of noninvasive physiological phenotyping is highlighted, which can be inserted into plant breeding programs, allowing the characterization and selection of genotypes with wide genetic variability.
