This research aimed to investigate the effect of refeeding on production, blood biochemical parameters, and reproduction in underfed Kacang goat does. Twelve 2-3-year-old Kacang goats scored (body condition score [BCS]: 1-1.5) with poor body condition but appeared healthy, gave normal births 3-4 months before but no longer nursing their youngs, and anestrus were used in this study. The experiment consisted of 110 days with 14 days of adaptation period and 96 days of feeding treatment and data collection. After the adaptation period, the animals were divided into two groups (A and B), with six animals each. During the first 40 days (underfeeding period), they were fed with kangkong (Ipomoea reptans) straw at a level of 2% of body weight (BW). For the following 56 days (refeeding period), each animal in group A was fed at the level of 4% BW per day while group B was fed at the level of 5% BW per day consisting of 50% kangkong straw and 50% concentrate. Feed intake, average daily gain, body condition, and estrus were assessed in the period of underfeeding and refeeding. Blood samples were collected at the end of the underfeeding and refeeding period for blood biochemical parameter analyses. During the underfeeding period, the animals were anestrous and had poor body condition (BCS: 1.17-1.33) and high serum levels of cortisol, progesterone, and estradiol. Refeeding resulted in a significant increase in BCS (2.75-3.0), restoring estrous cycle, and reduced serum cortisol and progesterone level (p 0.05). The Kacang goats had good compensatory growth. It could be concluded that refeeding at the level of 4-5% BW would restore undernourished goats' clinical condition, productivity, and reproductive performance after 8 weeks of refeeding.

Feline panleukopenia (FPL) adalah salah satu penyakit kucing mematikan yang menyebabkan diare dan leukopenia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah melakukan diagnosis FPL berdasar total leukosit dan deteksi antigen feline parvovirus (FPV-Ag) pada kucing diare. Penelitian ini menggunakan sampel darah dan swab feses dari 21 kucing yang menunjukkan gejala diare. Total leukosit dihitung dari sampel darah dan adanya antigen FPV dideteksi dari swab feses menggunakan FPV-Ag-kit. Kesesuaian diagnosis FPL berdasar leukopenia dan reaksi positif uji FPV-Ag dibandingkan dengan menggunakan uji kesesuaian Cohen’s Kappa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 14 dari 21 ekor kucing (66,7%) mempunyai total leukosit dibawah normal dan 7 dari 21 ekor kucing (33,3%) mempunyai total leukosit normal. Uji FPV-Ag didapatkan hasil 11 dari 21 ekor kucing (52%) positif dan 10 dari 21 ekor kucing (48%) negatif. Diagnosis FPL berdasar leukopenia dan uji FPV-Ag mempunyai kesesuaian yang baik dengan nilai kesesuaian 0,71. Berdasar penelitian ini disimpulkan bahwa diagnosis FPL berdasar total leukosit dan FPV-Ag mempunyai kesesuaian yang baik, sehingga kedua uji dapat dipakai sebagai dasar diagnosis FPL.

This study was aimed to investigate the ovarian activity and its association with serum micromineral level in Indonesian Bligon goats. The observations were conducted on non-pregnant Bligon goat does, 2–3 years old, with poor to moderate body condition (Body Condition Score, BCS 1–3 on a scale of 5), reared traditionally, and slaughtered in a slaughterhouse in Yogyakarta Indonesia during the period of April – August (dry season). All animals did not show any gynecological and systemic disease. Before slaughtering, venous blood samples were taken for blood chemistry. After slaughtering, the ovaries were immediately removed for examination of the follicles and the corpus luteum. Zinc (Zn) and copper (Cu) in serum were analyzed by Atomic Absorbent Spectrophotometry. There were 9 animals with inactive ovaries (IO). As a control, 16 animals with active ovaries (AO) were observed. The IO animals had serum Zn level of 2.30 ± 1.17 ppm, while AO had a significantly higher one, 3.64 ± 1.68 ppm (p p > 0.05). This study aimed to determine the influence of body condition score (BCS) on the metabolic and reproductive status of adult female Kacang goats (Capra hircus). Twenty-three local doe goats aged 3–6 years, which were not pregnant and had BCS ranging from 1–3 on a scale of 1–5, were studied. Blood samples were collected before slaughtering for biochemical analyses. After the goats were killed, the ovaries were collected for follicle and corpus luteum (CL) examination. Ovarian follicular fluid was aspirated for biochemical analyses. Most blood biochemistry parameters of the goats with BCS 1–3 did not show significant differences (P>0.05). The ovaries with BCS 1 were acyclic; whereas the ovaries with BCSs 2 and 3 were cyclic. The ovarian follicular fluid concentrations of glucose, Ca, and Mg in the goats with BCS 1 were significantly lower than those of the goats with BCSs 2 and 3. Aim: This study was conducted to determine the prevalence of gastrointestinal (GI) worms in Wonosobo and thin-tailed sheep from the slope of Mount Sumbing. Materials and Methods: Fecal samples (n=305) were collected directly from the rectum of Wonosobo and thin-tailed sheep during the dry and rainy seasons in Wonosobo Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia. The presence of GI helminth eggs in the fecal samples was assessed using the modified McMaster egg counting technique. The identification of the eggs or oocysts was done on the basis of their morphology and size. Results: The highest prevalence of GI worms was observed in male thin-tailed sheep (76.47%) during the rainy season, whereas the lowest prevalence was observed in female Wonosobo sheep (47.36%) during the dry season. The types of GI nematodes observed in these two types of sheep were Haemonchus contortus, Ostertagia spp., Trichostrongylus spp., Bunostomum spp., Trichuris spp., and Moniezia spp. The GI worms with the highest prevalence were of Haemonchus spp. and were observed in male thin-tailed sheep. The prevalences of the two types of sheep assessed at an altitude of 1150 m above sea level were higher than those observed at the altitude of 1586 m. Herbal preparations have started being used to support poultry health. The purpose of this study was to obtain information about the effect of meniran and turmeric extracts as well as the combination of both on the blood profile (hemoglobin, hematocrit, erythrocytes, leukocytes, and plasma protein) of chickens. This study used 80 layer chickens (DOC), which were randomly divided into 4 groups (A, B, C, and D, each group contain 20 chickens). Group A was the control, group B was treated with turmeric extract (100 mg/kg BW), group C was treated with meniran extract (100 mg/kg BW), and group D was treat with a combination of meniran and turmeric extracts (each dose 100 mg/kg BW). Treatment was given for 30 days. Blood samples were collected on the end period for examination. Statistical analysis of the data were done through the one-way ANOVA method. The results showed that the blood profiles (hematocrit, hemoglobin, erythrocytes, leukocytes, and total plasma protein) with turmeric and meniran extract treatments were still within normal range and not significantly different from the control group (P> 0.05). Based on this research, it can be concluded that the treatment of extract turmeric and meniran or a mixture of both at a dose of 100 mg/kg body weight for 30 days does not affect the blood profile. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendapatkan informasi tentang pengaruh ekstrak kunyit dan meniran serta kombinasi kedua ekstrak terhadap gambaran darah (hematokrit, eritrosit, hemoglobin, leukosit, dan total protein plasma) ayam. Pada penelitian ini digunakan 80 ekor day old chicken (DOC) layer, yang secara acak dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok (A, B, C dan D, masing-masing kelompok 20 ekor). Kelompok A sebagai kontrol, kelompok B sebagai perlakuan yang diberi ekstrak kunyit (dosis 100 mg/kg berat badan), kelompok C diberi ekstrak meniran (dosis 100 mg/kg BB), dan kelompok D diberi campuran ekstrak meniran dan kunyit (masing-masing dosis 100 mg/kg BB). Pemberian ekstrak kunyit dan meniran dilakukan selama 30 hari. Sampel dikoleksi pada akhir periode penelitian untuk dilakukan pemeriksaan darah. Analisis data secara statistik menggunakan ANOVA one way. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak kunyit dan meniran tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap nilai hematokrit, eritrosit, hemoglobin, leukosit, dan total protein plasma dibanding kontrol (P>0,05). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak kunyit dan meniran maupun campuran keduanya dengan dosis 100mg/kg berat badan selama 30 hari tidak berpengaruh terhadap gambaran darah ayam. Salah satu penyakit pada kucing dengan morbiditas dan mortalitas tinggi adalah Feline Panleukopenia (FPL). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui gambaran leukosit kucing penderita Feline Panleukopenia. Penelitian ini menggunakan 27 ekor kucing jantan dan betina berbagai umur yang didiagnosa FPL berdasar Feline Parvo Virus Ag test. Semua kucing diambil darah secara lege artis sebanyak 1 ml, diperiksa jumlah leukositnya, kemudian dianalisis secara diskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa FPL lebih banyak diderita kucing jantan (59,3 % ) dari pada betina (40,7%). Kejadian FPL lebih banyak diderita kucing umur ≤ 6 bulan, yaitu 21 ekor (77,8 %) dibanding umur > 6 bulan, yaitu 6 ekor (22,2 %). Sebanyak 19 ekor (70,4 %) FPL mempunyai jumlah total leukosit < 1.000 sel/mm3, 4 ekor (14,8 %) 1.000 – 2.500 sel/mm3 dan 4 ekor yang lain (14,8 %) > 2.500 sel/mm3. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini disimpulkan bahwa sebagian besar penderita Feline Panleukopenia mengalami penurunan leukosit berat dengan prognosis infausta, terutama pada kucing jantan dan umur muda.

Biodiversitas 21: 3057-3061. The aim of this study was to determine complete blood count of Wonosobo sheep infected with internal parasites on sheep farms in Wonosobo District, Central Java, Indonesia. Fecal and blood samples were taken from 130 female Wonosobo sheep. Fecal samples were individual and the numbers of worm eggs per gram of feces (eggs per gram, EPG) were counted. Complete blood count analyzed with a hematology analyzer machine and total protein were measured with a refractometer. The total average prevalence of gastrointestinal (GI) parasite infections in the Wonosobo sheep are 66.92%. The prevalences of low EPG and high EPG GI parasite infections in female Wonosobo sheep were 19.23% and 47.69%. The gastrointestinal worm species found infecting female Wonosobo sheep in this study were Haemonchus spp., Ostertagia spp., Trichostrongylus spp., Trichuris spp., Bunostomum spp., and Moniezia spp. The most prevalent GI parasites infections in Wonosobo sheep were caused by Haemonchus spp., and the last prevalent ones were caused by Trichuris spp. Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV), Mean Corpuscular Hb (MCH), Mean Corpuscular Hb Concentration (MCHC), White Blood Cell (WBC), neutrophil, eosinophil, and lymphocyte counts in female Wonosobo sheep with naturally occurring gastrointestinal worms that had EPG > 600 were significantly higher (p < 0.001) than those in sheep that had EPG 600 than in sheep with EPG 0.05) between infected sheep with EPG 600. This study shows that gastrointestinal worm infections naturally affect the hematology and blood chemistry of female Wonosobo sheep in Wonosobo district, Central Java, Indonesia.

Various animal diseases are not always known by animal owners, so they must always be socialized even in the condition of the COVID-19 outbreak. This community service aims to provide animal health information to the community by online. This activity was carried out from in November 2020 using the Cisco Webex platform. The results showed that as many as 269 participants have joined in the socialization, consisting of 180 from Yogyakarta and 89 from outside Yogyakarta. Concluded that online socialization of animal health is successfully carried out and received a very good response from the community. Hasil PKM menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 269 calon peserta telah mengikuti sosialisasi, yang terdiri dari 180 berasal dari Yogyakarta dan 89 dari luar Yogyakarta. Berdasar hasil kegiatan ini, disimpulkan bahwa sosialisasi tentang kesehatan hewan secara daring berhasil dilaksanakan dan mendapat respon sangat bagus dari masyarakat. The study was aimed to investigate the effects of restricted feeding for four weeks on some bloodchemistry and seminal parameters in kacang goats. Six adult clinically healthy male kacang goats wereused in this study. Each animal was kept in individual box for 12 weeks. Animal was fed with aerial partof peanut plant and concentrate with ratio of 60:40. The experiment was devided into two feeding periods,fullfeeding and restricted feeding. After four weeks adaptation (week 1-4), each animal was fullfed formaintenance plus medium activity (a quantity of dry matter at the level of 3% of body weight) for fourweeks (week 5-8) and then was fed only 50% of the fullfeeding nutritional level for the following four weeks restricted feeding period (week 9-12). During the experiment, drinking water was supplied ad libitum.Each animal was ejaculated at weekly intervals by means of standard artificial vagina for small ruminant.Blood and semen samples were collected at the end of the ad libitum and restricted feeding period for bloodchemistry and seminal parameters analyses. Statistical differences were determined by paired t-test. A0.05 probability level was used as criterion to describe statistically significant differences. Restrictedfeeding at the dry matter intake level of 1.5% body weight for four weeks did not result in significantchanging of serum glucose and total protein concentrations as well as seminal parameters. The level ofblood chemistry and seminal parameters during the feed restriction period were within the values reportedfor clinically healthy goats. It is concluded that feeding with a restricted quantity of dry matter at the levelof 1.5% of body weight for four weeks is not detrimental to health and reproduction in male kacang goats.

The Saanen goat has adaptation abilities and is used for genetic improvement through crossbreeding programs with Ettawa breeding to produce Sapera goats in Indonesia. The development requires support for data to determine health and metabolic status. Sixteen juvenile buck goats aged 4-6 months, comprising five Saanen, seven Sapera, and four Ettawa crossbred goats, were used in this study. Blood was collected aseptically through the jugular vein for hematology and biochemical analyses. There were no statistically significant variations in most hematological and biochemical variables, except MCH, MCHC, and P-LCR. MCH in juvenile bucks of both Saanen (40.26 ± 6.94 ρg) and Sapera goats (37.96 ± 6.24 ρg) were lower than that in juvenile bucks of the Ettawa crossbred goats (61.63 ± 19.74 ρg). MCHC in juvenile bucks of both Saanen (40.96 ± 6.82 g/dL) and Sapera goats (37.01 ± 6.72 was lower than that in juvenile bucks of Ettawa crossbred goats (61.18 ± 23.15 g/dL). P-LCR in juvenile bucks of Ettawa crossbred goats (41.30% ± 10.95%) was significantly lower than that in juvenile bucks of both Saanen (63.48 ± 8.98%) and Sapera goats (69.00 ± 12.00%). Besides, no statistically significant variations were observed in enzyme, iron, lipid, and electrolyte activity in all three breeds.

The utilization of manure as organic fertilizer is on the rise, but the coarse form may negatively impact the aesthetics. This community service aims to train the farmers to operate the livestock manure grinder machine. The community service was performed in the Sidomaju livestock group, Panggungharjo village, Sewon, Bantul, Yogyakarta, with 37 farmers. The method for this community service is providing online presentations followed by online and offline workshops. The participation and satisfaction of the participants were measured by direct interaction and analyzed descriptively. The results of this community service showed that all farmers were more enthusiastic to participate in offline activities rather than online ones. All of the participants of the training can operate the livestock manure grinder machine. Based on the results of this activity, it is concluded that the training on the use of grinders for livestock manure machine has been adopted by farmers. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan melaksanakan pelatihan penggunaan alat pelembut kotoran ternak. Pengabdian dilakukan di kelompok ternak Sidomaju, desa Panggungharjo, Sewon, Bantul, Yogyakarta yang beranggotakan 37 peternak. Metode kegiatan yang dilakukan adalah dengan presentasi dan pelatihan secara daring dan luring. Keterlibatan dan kepuasan peserta diukur melalui interaksi langsung dan hasilnya dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa semua peternak lebih antusias mengikuti kegiatan secara luring. Semua peserta yang hadir dalam pelatihan telah dapat mengoperasionalkan mesin penghalus kotoran ternak. Berdasar hasil kegiatan ini, disimpulkan bahwa pelatihan penggunaan mesin penghalus kotoran ternak telah dapat diadopsi oleh peternak. The study aims to determine the neutrophil to lymphocyte (N/L) ratio in Sapera goats during a clinically normal gestation and lactation period. The samples were obtained from 12 Sapera goats in three-month gestation period and 12 Sapera goats in three-month lactation period. Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease of global concern, and is caused by pathogenic serovar Leptospira interrogans. Canine Leptospirososis is widespread worldwide, dogs can act as incidental hosts or maintenance hosts for various serovars. The purpose of this research was to identify leptospire serovars that infect healthy and suspected leptospirosis dogs in Yogyakarta. A total of 56 dogs (36 healthy dogs and 20 suspect leptospirosis dogs) sera were taken from cephalica vein as much as 3 ml. Sera were examined for leptospirosis with Microscopic Aglutination Test (MAT) which conducted at the Research Center for Veterinary Science, Bogor. Microscopic Aglutination Test carried out on various Leptospire serovar, namely: Ichterohaemorrhagiae, Javanica, Celledoni, Ballum, Pyogenes, Cynopeteri, Rachmati, Australis, Pomona, Canicola, Grippotyphosa, Bataviae, Hardjo, and Tarrasovi. The results showed that Celledoni serovars infected 25% of healthy dogs and 5% of suspect leptospirosis dogs, Javanica serovar infected 19% of healthy dogs, Bataviae serovars infected 15% of suspect leptospirosis dogs, Grippotyphosa serovar infected 11% of healthy dogs, Tarrasovi serovar infected 10% of suspect leptospirosis dogs, serovars Cynopteri infects 5% of healthy dogs and 5% of suspect leptospirosis dogs, serovar Pyrogenes infects 5% of healthy dogs and 5% of suspect leptospirosis dogs, and serovar Rachmati infects 5% of suspect leptospirosis dogs. Seven healthy dogs (19%) and 2 suspect leptospirosis dogs (10%) were infected with more than 2 leptospire serovars. From the results of this study it can be concluded that Celledoni serovar of Leptospira interrogans infection causes subclinical leptospirosis, while Bataviae serovar infection causes clinical leptospirosis in dogs in Yogyakarta.

This research aimed at determining the efficacy of duramectin, oxfendazole, piperazine, and pyrantelpamoate against gastrointestinal worms in horses in Yogyakarta Special Region and Central Java. The object of research involved 40 horses diagnosed with gastrointestinal worm infection. Prior to the research, all of the horses were subjected to examination for clinical symptoms and parasitology laboratory checkup for signs of worm eggs in their feces, and they were pronounced positive for experiment animals with at least 150 eggs per gram of feces per horse. The research horses were weighed to determine the dose of worm medication to be used. The research horses are divided into four treatment groups, each group consists of ten horses. Group I was given duramectin with a dose of 0.2 mg/kg of body weight. Group II was given oxfendazole with a dose of 7.5 mg/kg of body weight, Group III was given 125 mg Piperazin treatment per kilogram of body weight and Group IV was given pyrantelpamoate with a dose of 20 mg/kg of body weight. After receiving themedication, the horses were observed to document the progress in terms of clinical symptoms and the amount and type of worm eggs in their feces every three days for four times in a row. The research data results were tabulated and were descriptive-comparatively analyzed.The research result showed varying efficacy level of worm medication for horses. Oxfendazole kills Strongylus and Parascaris worms. Duramectin kills Strongylus worms and reduce some of the Parascaris worms. The aimed of this study was to observe the effect of feed restriction and refeeding on body weight, physiological status and blood VFA on Kacang and Etawah Crossbreed Goat. Eight male goats consisting of 4 Kacang Goats and 4 Etawah Crossbred goats were used as experiment objects in this study. Both types of goats were subjected to the same treatment (three phases). First was adaptation, feed was given gradualy until reach the intended amount. Secondly, the feed was reduced by giving as much as 1.7% dry matter of body weight for each; thirdly, both goats were fed on ad libitum (refeeding phase). The variables observed were body weight changes, physiological status and blood VFA. The data obtained were analyzed by Various Random Test using Completely Randomized Design (RAL) on 2x2 factorial patterns. Duncan Multiple Range Test was used to test treatments that significantly different. The results showed that the pattern of changes in body weight on both goats breeds were relatively similar. Physiological status (pulse, rectal and respiratory temperature) on both breed of goats were not significantly different. However, decrease in the amount of feed impacted in the decrease in body temperature, pulsus and respiration, although it was still within normal range. The same also happened on blood VFA levels. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that breed differences breed of goat did not affect the physiological condition of goat. Differences in the amount of feed affect the physiological conditions and the performance of goat production.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kecernaan nutrien pakan dan status fisiologi pada kambing Bligon yang diberi perlakuan pembatasan pakan ( feed restriction ). Enam ekor kambing Bligon jantan umur rata-rata 12 bulan dengan bobot badan rata-rata 23,6 kg diberi pakan yang terdiri dari hijauanjerami kacang tanah (rendeng)dan konsentrat. Kambing dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok perlakuan. Tiga ekor kambing untukperlakuan kontrol diberi pakan berdasarkan kebutuhan bahan kering (BK) 3,5% dari bobot badan, dan tiga ekor kambing untuk perlakuan pembatasan pakandilakukan pembatasan pakan dengan pengurangan pakan 50% dari kebutuhan bedasarkan BK selama 35 hari. Variabel yang diamati adalah konsumsi bahan kering (BK), konsumsi bahan organik (BO), konsumsi total digestible nutrients (TDN) , perubahan berat badan, kecernaan bahan kering (BK), kecernaan bahan organik (BO), temperatur tubuh, frekuensi respirasi, dan frekuensi detak jantung. Influence of feed intake on blood chemistry parameters in Kacang goats was studied. Nine clinically healthy female adult goats were used in this study. Animals were kept in individual box for 8 weeks. During the first 4 weeks the animals were fed at the level of about 40% of the feed requirement for maintenance plus medium activity (the restricted feeding period) and during the 5th-8th week (the fullfeeding period) they were offered full feed intake for maintenance plus medium activity (dry matter intake at the level of 3% of body weight). Feed intake was measured daily and the body weight was measured weekly. Blood samples were collected at the end of the 4th week and the 8th week for blood chemistry analyses. Transportation of livestock using traditional vessel is one of traditional methodused to fulfill the needs of beef. It requires precise handling because it may cause stress in animals. Transportation stress causing 8 to 11 % of animal death, decreasing the body weight up to 8 % and decreasing reproductive performance of animals. This study aimed to determine the profile of triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) hormones in 1 to 2 y.o female Bali breeding cattle transported from Sumbawa to Pontianak for 120 h using 100 GT traditional vessel with two floors and a capacity of 300 to 400 heads. Five cows were selected by purposive sampling. Blood samples were taken three times: before transportation (at Sumbawa Animal Quarantine Installation), during loading (at traditional vessel) and after transportation (at Pontianak Animal Quarantine Installation) then tested by ELISA to determine the profile of triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4). The result showed that there was a decline in triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) concentration, they increased during loading, decreased during docking, and decreased further when the livestock were at Animal Quarantine Installation. Therefore, transportation affects the profile of triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4). It would be concluded that transportation affected hormone of T3 and T4.

This study was aimed to analyze the levels of catecholamine and cortisol as stress indicator by invasive and non-invasive methods. Twelve female cattle PO were used in this study and were collected from slaughter house in Yogyakarta. Catecholamine and cortisol level of urine were measured by Enzyme linked Immunoassay (EIA) method and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), were statistically analyzed to determine the difference between pre slaughter and slaughter conditions. FTIR spectra were analyzed using chemo-metrics software. These results showed that the concentration of urinary cortisol were 2.12±1.68 ng/dl of pre-slaughter and 7.58±3.89 ng/dl of slaughtered respectively. The levels of urinary catecholamine in pre slaughter and slaughter were 3.07±2.05 ng/dl and 4.15±2.68 ng/dl respectively. In FTIR analysis showed the spectral separation between the different quadrants before and during slaughter. The result suggested the correlation between the results of the analysis using the EIA and FTIR spectra. It is assumed that the separation of the FTIR spectrum in line with the increased levels of cortisol catecholamine and samples. It can be concluded that FTIR can be used to analyze the status of stress in animals, especially in cattle. Key words: catecholamine, cortisol, non-invasive, FTIR Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kadar katekolamin dan kortisol sebagai indicator stress secara invasif maupun non invasif dan mengembangkan metode deteksi stress pada sapi. Penelitian menggunakan sampel urin sapi Peranakan Ongole (PO) yang diambil dari rumah potong hewan di Yogyakarta. Analisis kadar katekolamin (CA) dan kortisol (CO) dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode EIA dan FTIR. Data konsentrasi kortisol maupun katekolamin hasil pengukuran menggunakan metode EIA dilakukan analisis statistik untuk mengetahui pengaruh stres terhadap konsentrasi CA dan CO urine. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan rata-rata konsentrasi kortisol urin adalah 2.12±1.68 ng/dl dalam kondisi prapenyembelihan dan 7,58±3,89 ng/dl pada saat penyembelihan. Sedangkan konsentrasi katekolamin urin pada saat prapenyembelihan dan penyembelihan secara berurutan adalah 3,07±2,05 ng/dl dan 4,15±2,68 ng/dl. Analisis FTIR menggambarkan pemisahan spektral pada quadran berbeda antara sebelum dan saat penyembelihan. Berdasarkan hasil ini menunjukkan korelasi antara hasil analisis dengan menggunakan EIA dan FTIR, baik konsentrasi katekolamin dan kortisol dengan spektra FTIR dari sampel. Perbedaan konsentrasi CA dan CO urin prapenyembelihan dan saat penyembelihan sejelan dengan pemisahan spektra FTIR. Hal ini diyakini bahwa pemisahan spektrum FTIR disebabkan adanya peningkatan kadar katekolamin dan kortisol dari sampel. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa FTIR dapat untuk menganalisis status stres pada hewan khususnya pada sapi. Kata kunci : katekolamin, kortisol, non invasif, FTIR
