This experiment examined the effects of blending bottom ash produced after combusting dry livestock manure (BACL, 2–4 mm particle) as a soil amendment on the physicochemical properties of the root zone and growth response of creeping bentgrass in sandy soil. The treatments were designed as follows: control [100% sand], 3% BACL (3% BACL + 97% sand), 5% BACL (5% BACL + 95% sand), 7% BACL (7% BACL + 93% sand), and 10% BACL (10% BACL + 90% sand). Although BACL improved the soil physical properties, such as the capillary porosity, total porosity, and hydraulic conductivity, it reduced the cation exchangeable capacity. The BACL treatments increased the pH, EC, Av-P2O5, and Ex-K compared to the control. The turf color index, chlorophyll content, shoot length, clipping yield, and shoot dry weight after the BACL treatments were similar to the control. The growth and nutrient uptake of the roots in the BACL treatment were higher than those of the control. The BACL application amount was positively correlated with the capillary porosity and total porosity of the root zone (p ≤ 0.01) and with the growth and nutrient levels of the roots (p ≤ 0.05). These results suggest that applying BACL as a soil amendment enhanced the uptake of phosphorus and potassium in the roots of creeping bentgrass by improving the soil porosity in the root zone and by supplying phosphate and potassium. Background: Timely detection and removal of colonic adenomas are critical for preventing colorectal cancer. Methods: This study analyzed differences in colonic adenoma characteristics based on colonoscopy history by reviewing the medical records of 14,029 patients who underwent colonoscopy between January and June 2020 across 40 primary medical institutions in Korea. Results: Adenoma and advanced neoplasia characteristics varied significantly with colonoscopy history (p < 0.05). In the first-time colonoscopy group, adenomas were more frequent in the sigmoid colon (S-colon) and rectum, with Is features and non-granular laterally spreading tumors. Advanced neoplasia was also more common in the S-colon and rectum, with Is and advanced-type features. In the <5-year group, adenomas were predominantly found in the transverse colon (T-colon) and descending colon (D-colon), with IIa and IIb features. Advanced neoplasia in this group was more frequent in the cecum and T-colon, with IIa and IIb features and laterally spreading tumors. In the ≥5-year group, adenomas were more commonly located in the ascending colon (A-colon) and cecum, with Ip features, while advanced neoplasia was more frequent in the A-colon and D-colon, also with Ip features. Conclusions: Although every segment of the colorectum should be carefully observed regardless of colonoscopy history, these findings suggest that prioritizing specific colonic segments for examination based on colonoscopy history may improve adenoma detection rates and reduce the incidence of colorectal cancer. Objectives: This study investigates the changing perceptions of Korean care workers regarding a robotic bed designed to assist with repositioning and prevent pressure ulcers. With the primary aim of assessing the technology acceptance among care workers using the robotic bed to solve the problem of a shortage of care workers in Korea, we sought to examine the possibility of applying care robots in the field. Methods: A total of 20 long-term care workers participated in the experiment, and their attitudes were measured before and after using the robot. Frequency analysis and paired t-tests were conducted using Stata 17 to analyze the data. Results: The results show significant changes in the perceived ease of use (PEOU), facilitating conditions (FCs), and gerontology anxiety (GA), with the PEOU increasing by 19.87%, FC increasing by 20.63%, and GA decreasing by 17.2%. However, there was no significant change in the perceived usefulness (PU) and intention to use (IU). Conclusions: The results showing that the perception of technology acceptance changed significantly mean that the use of the care robot means that there is a high possibility of positive perceptions in Korean care settings when care robots are distributed in the field in the future, considering that the experimental environment was limited due to the early stage of development of care robots. This study highlights the need for practical demonstrations and thorough training to improve technology acceptance among care workers before the application of care technology in the long-term care environment in South Korea. Presbycusis, also referred to as age-related hearing loss (ARHL), is a multifaceted condition caused by the natural aging process affecting the auditory system. Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) in human populations can identify potential genes linked to ARHL. Despite this, our knowledge of the biochemical and molecular mechanisms behind the condition remains incomplete. This study aims to evaluate a potential protective tool for ARHL treatment by comparing human blood-based target gene-miRNA associations regulated in ARHL. To identify promising target genes for ARHL, we utilized an mRNA assay. To determine the role of miRNA in ARHL, we investigated the expression profile of miRNA in whole blood in ARHL patients with real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). A reporter gene assay was performed to confirm the regulation of candidate genes by microRNA. Through RT-qPCR validation analysis, we finally confirmed the relationship between ARHL and the role of the interferon-gamma (IFNG) gene. This gene can be regarded as an age-related gene. Through gene ontology (GO) analysis, it has been found that these genes are enriched in pathways related to apoptosis. Among them, IFNG induces an inflammatory response, apoptotic cell death, and cellular senescence. We found that miR-409-3p downregulates the expression of the IFNG in vitro. In addition, the downregulation of the IFNG by miRNA 409-3p promoted cell apoptosis and suppressed proliferation. In conclusion, our study produced gene signatures and associated microRNA regulation that could be a protective key for ARHL patients. The predicted global labor shortages and health problems for long-term care workers can be addressed by care robots. We have developed a smart transfer-assistive robot with dual arms to assist in patient transfers. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and usability of a transfer-assistive robot with dual arms for long-term care workers in the Living Lab of Kyung Hee University. Long-term care workers (N = 15) transferred healthy adults using the transfer-assistive robot and subsequently reported the workload differences of manual care and the transfer-assistive robot, as measured by the Borg rating of the perceived exertion scale (RPE) and the NASA Task Load Index (NASA-TLX). They also completed questionnaires on the usability of transfer-assistive robots and open-ended interviews. The RPE and NASA-TLX values for each task were compared using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, and descriptive statistics were used to calculate demographics and usability. The RPE scale indicated that the perceived physical burden was significantly reduced when using the transfer-assistive robot compared with the manual method. The robot-aided transfer method significantly reduced the physical demand in the NASA-TLX subscales. In the usability test, the averages for safety, operability, and satisfaction were all three points or higher, indicating a positive result. This study demonstrates that a transfer-assistive robot has the potential to reduce physical stress and the risk of work-related musculoskeletal disorders in long-term care workers. This study shows that the robot is effective for long-term care workers suffering from the burden of the transferring/lifting action, emphasizing the need to introduce a transfer-assistive robot into the care field in South Korea. Transfer-assistive robots are expected to alleviate the burden of transferring and lifting actions for long-term care workers. These results emphasize the need to introduce transfer-assistive robots in the care field. Ongoing attention to the usability study of transfer-assistive robots may be valuable in improving the work environment of long-term care workers and the quality of care services provided to care receivers.
