A partir dele foram delineados dois objetivos específicos, a saber: analisar como os conteúdos de Geometria estão estruturados (introdução, abordagem e desenvolvimento) em capítulos não-geométricos; mapear, em capítulos não-geométricos, as tarefas que fazem uso da Geometria em seus enunciados. A base teórica que fundamentou esta pesquisa foram os estudos de Flores (2003, 2010, 2013) acerca da cultura visual, entendida como as concepções inerentes à cultura de uma sociedade, manifestas em sua forma visual. Dentro da cultura visual, foi assumido o termo visualidade, definido como os discursos que informam sobre o modo como nós vemos. Pautada numa abordagem qualitativa, foram analisadas, nesta dissertação, três coleções de livros didáticos, totalizando 12 obras. Todo o conteúdo de Geometria que permeava os capítulos de Álgebra, Aritmética, Probabilidade e Estatística foi classificado de acordo com as funções que exerce, a saber: função ilustrativa, formativa, explicativa, demonstrativa, representativa e imagem mental. Resultados reforçam o caráter histórico e cultural da Geometria ao pontuar o uso de figuras geométricas como parte do discurso visual da sala de aula. Em alguns conteúdos de Álgebra e Aritmética, a Geometria se estabeleceu como prática visual que compõe os modos de olhar dos alunos da Educação Básica. Nesse sentido, é possível afirmar que a Geometria e as figuras geométricas são articuladas aos outros campos da Matemática com o propósito de favorecer a aprendizagem. Por diversas vezes, a Geometria é inserida, principalmente nos campos Álgebra e Aritmética, como uma tentativa de facilitar o ensino de alguns conceitos abstratos, ilustrando-os por meio de figuras geométricas. Também foi possível observar que há um processo de “desgeometrização”, ou seja, há uma tendência em diminuir a quantidade de figuras geométricas em função do rigor algébrico. The main goal of this paper is to investigate the functions Geometry performs in non-geometric fields in textbooks of the last years of Elementary School, approved by the National Textbook Program 2017. From it, two specific objectives were outlined: to analyze how geometry contents are structured (introduction, approach and development) in non-geometric chapters; to map, in non-geometric chapters, the tasks that make use of geometry in their tasks. The theoretical basis that underpinted this research was Flores' studies (2003, 2010, 2013) about visual culture, understood as the conceptions inherent to the culture of a society, manifested in its visual form. Within the visual culture, the term visuality was assumed, defined as the discourses that inform us about the way we see. Based on a qualitative approach, three collections of textbooks were analyzed in this research, totaling 12 books. All the content of Geometry that permeated the chapters of Algebra, Arithmetic, Probability and Statistics was classified according to the functions it performs, namely: illustrative, formative, explanatory, demonstrative, representative and mental image function. Results reinforce the historical and cultural character of Geometry by highlighting the use of geometric figures as part of the visual discourse of the classroom. In some contents of Algebra and Arithmetic, Geometry has established itself as a visual practice that composes the ways students of basic education look at it. Therefore, it is possible to affirm that Geometry and geometric figures are linked to other fields of Mathematics with the purpose of favoring learning. Geometry is inserted several times, mainly in Algebra and Arithmetic fields, as an attempt to facilitate teaching of some abstract concepts, illustrating them by geometric figures. Also, it was observed that there is a process of “degeometrization”, meaning, there is a tendency to decrease the amount of geometric figures due to algebraic rigor. CAPES: 001.

Entende-se que o ensino das Ciências da Natureza perpassa conhecimentos biológicos, químicos e físicos (BRASIL, 2016), os quais devem ser abordados ao longo deste ciclo da Educação Básica. (ZANON; PALHARINI, 1995). Também se sustenta a ideia de que o ensino de Ciência, em especial da Química, envolve uma linguagem própria e compreendê-la possibilita novos olhares sobre a realidade (CHASSOT, 2006). Aliado a essas percepções, este trabalho traz concepções de Vigotski, o qual defende a ideia de que a aprendizagem e o desenvolvimento de um indivíduo estão relacionados com a dimensão histórica, social e interacional com o meio e com os outros indivíduos, e que essa evolução é mediada por instrumentos e signos como um processo de apreensão de linguagens e pensamentos específicos. A partir de um estudo inicial de documentos oficiais (PCN e BNCC) e posterior interação com estudantes do 6º ao 9º ano do Ensino Fundamental, planejou-se e desenvolveu-se uma Situação de Estudo (MALDANER; ZANON, 2004), denominada “Água e o Estuário Laguna dos Patos”, em aulas de Ciências da Natureza, em uma turma do 9º ano do Ensino Fundamental. A partir do registro das aulas, realizou-se a Análise de Conteúdo (BARDIN, 2011), que identificou e analisou visões dos estudantes sobre e de Ciências/Química. As análises depreendidas estão organizadas em duas categorias: A Ciência e o cientista na visão dos estudantes e A linguagem Química no ensino de Ciências da Natureza. Na primeira categoria, pode-se identificar que os estudantes têm visões deformadas da Ciência Química e do cientista, o que pode dificultar a compreensão da disciplina, entre outras considerações. Na segunda, analisou-se o uso e a apropriação da linguagem química pelos estudantes - as representações (desenhos), falas e escrita - e, de modo geral, percebeu-se as dificuldades demonstradas na sua apreensão e utilização. A Situação de Estudo possibilitou discussões sobre e de Ciências/Química, que muitas vezes não são abordadas em sala de aula de Ciências da Natureza do Ensino Fundamental, permitindo a organização de atividades de ensino que permitem um acompanhamento sobre o processo de iniciação aos conhecimentos científicos, como o uso e a apropriação de aspectos que contemplam a natureza da Ciência e da linguagem da ciência Química. The present study is about the teaching of Chemical Science in the last years of Elementary School. It is understood that the teaching of the Sciences of Nature comprises biological, chemical and psychics knowledge (BRASIL, 2016), which must be approached throughout this cycle of Basic Education. (ZANON; PALHARINI, 1995). Moreover, it also supports the idea that the teaching of Science, in particular Chemistry, involves a language of its own and its comprehension enables new perspectives on reality (CHASSOT, 2006). Combined to these perceptions, this work brings concepts from Vygotsky, who defends the idea that the learning process and the personal development are related to the historical, social and interactional dimensions with the environment and with other individuals, and this evolution is mediated by tools and signs as a process of apprehending languages and specific thoughts. Through an initial study of official documents (PCN e BNCC) and subsequent interaction with students from 6th to 9th years of the Elementary School, it was planned and developed a Study Situation (MALDANER; ZANON, 2004), denominated “Water and the Laguna dos Patos Estuary”, in Sciences of Nature classes, on a group of 9th year of the Primary School. Through registering the classes, a Content Analysis was made (BARDIN, 2011), that identified and analyzed the views of students on and of Science/Chemistry. The analyzes surmised are organized in two categories: Science and the scientist on the view of the students and The Chemistry language on the teaching of Sciences of Nature. On the first category, it was possible to identify that the students have distorted views of Chemical Science and the scientist, which might handicap the understanding of the subject, among other considerations. On the second, it was analyzed the use and the appropriation of the chemical languages by the students – the representations (drawings), speeches and writing – and, on the whole, it was noticed the difficulties experienced on its assimilation and utilization. The Study Situation made possible to discuss about and of Science/Chemistry, which many times are not approached in Sciences of Nature classes on Elementary School, allowing the organization of teaching activities that allow supervision on the process of introduction to the scientific knowledge, such as the use and assimilation of aspects that contemplate the nature of Science and the language of the Chemistry science.
