Abstract

In this paper, we propose a radar odometry structure that directly utilizes radar velocity measurements for dead reckoning while maintaining its ability to update estimations within the Kalman filter framework. Specifically, we employ the Doppler velocity obtained by a 4D Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar in conjunction with gyroscope data to calculate poses. This approach helps mitigate high drift resulting from accelerometer biases and double integration. Instead, tilt angles measured by gravitational force are utilized alongside relative distance measurements from radar scan matching for the filter's measurement update. Additionally, to further enhance the system's accuracy, we estimate and compensate for the radar velocity scale factor. The performance of the proposed method is verified through five real-world open-source datasets. 24. Protamine dose to neutralize heparin at the completion of cardiopulmonary bypass can be reduced significantly without affecting post-operative bleeding

Abstract

Background: Systemic anticoagulation with heparin during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) should be neutralized by protamine administration to restore normal hemostasis. Our previous study showed the protamine-to-heparin ratio (P-to-H) of 1:1 (1 mg protamine:100 IU circulating heparin; 1.0 Ratio) is likely an overestimation. Thus, we reduced the P-to-H in the HMS Plus Hemostasis Management System to 0.9:1 (0.9 Ratio) for 5 months and then to 0.8:1 (0.8 Ratio). We monitored post-operative (post-op) bleeding in the setting of reduced protamine dose (PD). Methods: We performed a retrospective study of 632 patients (209 for the 1.0 Ratio, 211 for 0.9 Ratio, 212 for 0.8 Ratio group) who underwent cardiac surgery to measure the reduction of PD and how it affects 24-hour (24 h) post-op chest tube output. We also analyzed the entire data set to explore whether further reduction of P-to-H is warranted. Results: While there was no difference in the indexed heparin dose among the three groups, we achieved a significant reduction in the indexed actual protamine dose (APDi) by 24% (0.9 Ratio) and 31% (0.8 Ratio) reductions compared to the 1.0 Ratio group. On average, APDi was 88 ± 22, 67 ± 18, and 61 ± 15 mg/m2 in the 1.0, 0.9, and 0.8 Ratio groups, respectively. We found no significant difference in 24 h post-op bleeding among the three groups. Conclusion: 1.0 Ratio at the completion of CPB is likely an excessive administration of protamine. With the stepwise reduction of PD, we observed no increase in post-op bleeding, which may indicate that no meaningful increase in heparin rebound occurred. In addition, further analysis of the entire data set demonstrates that a 0.75 Ratio is likely sufficient to neutralize the heparin completely.

25. A BCI based Smart Home System Combined with Event-related Potentials and Speech Imagery Task

Abstract

Recently, smart home systems based on brain-computer interface (BCI) has attracted a wide range of interests in both industry and academia. However, the current BCI system has several shortcomings as it produces a comparatively lower accuracy for real-time implementations as well as the intuitive paradigm for the users cannot be well established here. Therefore, in this study, we proposed a highly intuitive BCI paradigm that combines event-related potential (ERP) with the speech-imagery task for the individual target objects. The decoding accuracy of the proposed paradigm was 88.1% (plus or minus 5.90) which is a much significant higher performance than a conventional ERP system. Furthermore, the amplitude of N700 components was significantly enhanced over frontal regions which are priory evoked by the speech-imagery task. Our results could be utilized to develop a smart home system so that it could be more user-friendly and convenient by means of delivering user's intentions both, intuitively and accurately.

44. Virulence‐Free Reconstituted Synthetic Nanopathogen Empowered by Timely‐Activating TLR Agonist Promotes Heterologous Cancer Immunotherapy with Depletion of Tumor‐Specific Treg Cells.

Abstract

The heterologous immunity of live pathogens leads to the emergence of this approach as a pivotal component in cancer immunotherapy. However, virulence, inflammatory‐related toxicity, and the induction of Treg cells after treatment hinder their clinical translation. Here, to exploit the heterologous immunity of live pathogens without risks, a virulence‐free reconstituted synthetic nanopathogen (RSnP) is developed by the cell wall skeleton of disrupted Mycobacterium bovis and the incorporation of timely‐activating Toll‐like receptor 7/8 agonists of which multifaceted activities can be promoted by endolysosomal enzymes. Immunization with RSnP, even without tumor‐specific antigens, exhibits potent antitumor efficacy against melanoma, breast cancer, and bladder cancer by promoting antitumor effector cells (CD8+ T cells, NK cells, M1 macrophages, and Th17 cells) and proinflammatory cytokines (IL‐12p70, TNF‐α, and IL‐6) while simultaneously mitigating immunosuppressive myeloid cells (MDSCs and M2 macrophages) in the tumor microenvironment, surpassing the therapeutic efficacies of approved live‐BCG drug and mRNA vaccine. The increase in CCR8+Foxp3+ Treg cells induced to counteract RSnP treatment can be attenuated by anti‐CCR8 antibody, a depletion antibody for tumor‐specific Treg cells, to synergize therapeutic efficacy with relieved autoimmunity. Abstract

(1) Background: Dental glass–ceramics shrink during crystallization, complicating restoration manufacturing. Thermo-pressure molding was introduced to address this, with lithium disilicate crystals providing high strength. Residual tensile stresses can influence the chipping strength of single tooth crowns. (2) Methods: Insync dentine was layered onto three lithia-based disilicate core ceramics (Amber Press, IPS e.max Press) for microtensile bond strength tests. The Vickers test assessed the residual tensile stress and interfacial bonding. Porcelain-veneered posterior ceramic crowns were fabricated and subjected to axial loading, measuring fracture loads (three per group). (3) Results: A chemical bonding layer formed at the interface, which was thicker in the Insync-IPS e.max Press and increased with more firings. The ultimate tensile bond strength was 28.5 MPa for the four-times-fired Insync-Amber Press, similar to the twice-fired Insync-IPS e.max Press. No residual tensile stress was found in the Insync-Amber Press; the Insync-IPS e.max Press showed crack growth within 250 μm of the bonded interface. The average fracture resistance was twice as high for the Insync-Amber Press. (4) Conclusions: The Insync-Amber Press exhibited better thermal harmony with no crack growth, while the IPS e.max Press showed crack growth due to residual tensile stress.
