Background: Active travel has been suggested as a feasible way of increasing physical activity levels. Although international studies have demonstrated its effect over different health outcomes and adiposity, there is still limited evidence on this topic in developing countries, such as Chile. Aim: To investigate the associations between different types of travelling and markers of obesity in the Chilean adult population. Methods: 5411 participants from the Chilean National Health Survey 2016–2017 (CNHS) were included in this study. Active travel was assessed using a questionnaire. Car commuters, public transport (PT), walking and cycling were the four forms of travelling assessed. Bodyweight, body mass index and waist circumference were used as markers of adiposity. Results: Compared to car travellers, body weight, WC and BMI levels were lower for PT walking and cycling travellers. The odds for obesity (Odds ratio (OR): 0.41 (95% CI: 0.28; 0.61 p ≤ 0.001) were lower for walking and the odds (OR: 0.56 (95%CI: 0.35; 0.89 p = 0.014) for central obesity were significantly lower for cyclist in comparison to car travellers. Additionally, participation in any form of active travel (walking or cycling) was low, with only 20.9% of the population reporting being active travellers. Conclusion: Active travel, such as walking and cycling, was associated with lower adiposity levels in the Chilean adult population. Promoting active travel could be a feasible strategy to tackle the high prevalence of obesity and physical inactivity in the Chilean population.

La presente unidad didáctica se centra en los humedales, de manera que los alumnos conocerán su definición, características o métodos de clasificación. A parte de este concepto, también conocerán la definición de restauración ecológica, tipos, metodología y ejemplos de los mismos. Con ello se pretende que los alumnos valoren el medio natural, ya que con esta intervención podrán observar tanto el valor ecológico como económico que estos parajes naturales poseen. Además, podrán observar aquello aprendido en clase de manera directa gracias a la salida propuesta. Las metodologías utilizadas para la intervención serán el aprendizaje activo, que fomenta la adquisición significativa de los contenidos, así como el aprendizaje colaborativo, que mejorará la inclusión, así como el clima dentro del aula., This intervention is focused on wetlands, so students will know their definition, charasteristics or classification. Also, they will learn about ecological restoration, types, methodology or examples of them. Therefore, students will value the environment, becouse with this intervention they will be able to observe the ecologycal and the economic value of that this natural landscapes have. Also, they will observe what they have learned in class directly thanks to the trip. El objetivo de la investigación es explicar la relación entre el clima organizacional y el desempeño laboral en los docentes de la Asociación Educativa Adventista Peruana del Sur, 2017. Para esto se aplicó una encuesta a los docentes de las instituciones educativas adventistas de la ciudad de Arequipa: Eduardo Francisco Forga y General José de San Martín. A continuación, se analizó la relación entre las variables mencionadas a través del estadístico de la correlación de Spearman. El resultado que se encontró fue que existió una escasa correlación (r = 0.361**) entre el Clima Organizacional y Desempeño Laboral de los docentes. En este trabajo se ha vislumbrado que el Clima Organizacional está determinado por la comprensión cabal de la misión y visión de la educación adventista por parte de los docentes. Así mismo, se ha encontrado que el Desempeño Laboral no es un asunto limitado a los factores organizacionales, sino a la consagración espiritual de cada docente forja su compromiso con la institución. Biological processes such as gene regulation or metabolic pathways are often represented in the form of biological networks. Their modeling, analysis and visualisation are essential to reveal important properties of the underlying biological system. It is very important to identify the most appropriate generic data model to aggregate data from several resources, enabling the creation of efficient algorithms and making possible the management and integration of complex datasets. Only graph databases such as Reactome or BioNetDB, that embraces relationships as a core aspect of its data model, are able to store, process, and query connections in a network proficiently. Data integration using graph databases allows an efficient traversing of the network through different data resources. As they are fast for retrieving information on large numbers of associative data elements, graph databases may allow an interactive and dynamic visualisation. Also, their schemaless nature allows the data model to evolve and expand without sacrificing the speed of access or adding significant and costly overhead to development cycles. We are providing tools to improve curation of biological pathways and allow researchers to curate data more efficiently. Using a schemaless database and the possibility of creating dynamic visualisations of the stored data, curators can explore biological relationships and add new data more easily and quickly. Our current implementation creates customizable visualisations that allow researchers to focus on specific segments of the network. This allows to highlight the connections with other modules of data and change quickly to any of the new connections, retaining the visualisation of the desired elements of different interconnected pathways. To sum up, modelling biological networks with graph databases provides us the opportunity to explore a network of thousands of interacting components and gives us clues about how their organisation and connection influences their function and dynamic responses.

Uno de nuestros objetivos en Histología es enseñar a los alumnos a describir, reconocer e interpretar imágenes microscópicas que les permitan, de una forma sistematizada, llegar a un diagnóstico histológico. Presentamos el diseño de una nueva actividad práctica con una orientación más novedosa y aplicativa, basada en el trabajo en pequeños grupos y la utilización de recursos on line. Empleando imágenes histopatológicas en las que la estructura normal ha quedado muy alterada, los alumnos deben de discriminar entre las zonas normales y anormales, describir y reconocer los elementos “residuales” células y tisulares normales. La práctica se llevó a cabo en una de las Aulas multimedia de la Facultad de Medicina y Enfermería de la UCO que se encuentran completamente equipadas para el trabajo en pequeños grupos y con infraestructura y equipamiento para el empleo de las TIC’s. Cada grupo trabaja de forma independiente empleando todos los recursos disponibles, emitiendo informes completos en un tiempo limitado y que deben ser consensuados y firmados por todos. Los alumnos/as fueron encuestados en relación a la utilidad, complementariedad y adquisición de las competencias CE22, CT12 CT10 y CT 19. Los resultados avalan que esta orientación aplicativa de la histología al relacionarla con la histopatología representa un elemento motivador para los alumnos favoreciendo su interés por lo que observan al microscopio, al mismo tiempo que se potencian la adquisición de destrezas y habilidades necesarias en su formación como médicos. Biological processes such as gene regulation, signal transduction, protein-protein interaction or metabolic pathways are often represented in the form of biological networks. Their modelling, analysis, and visualization are essential for uncovering important properties of the underlying biological system. Only a graph-based database that embraces relationships as a core aspect of its data model is able to store and query connections between thousands of interacting components efficiently. Here we present the modelling of the miRNA regulatory network as a use case in BioNetDB, a storage engine to work with biological networks using a NoSQL graph database. The choice of the miRNA regulation system as a case study is due to its characteristics: is a densely connected network with a lower specificity in comparison to other biological networks, the presence of positive and negative feedback loops is very common and, usually, components and connections in miRNA regulatory networks are not well annotated. As BioNetDB provides a robust system to deal with incomplete data and sparse annotation, this situation provides an ideal frame to test its performance as a helper tool for annotation and its capability of providing feedback to other databases.

These biological processes such as gene regulation, signal transduction, protein-protein interaction or metabolic pathways are often represented in the form of biological networks. Their modelling, analysis, and visualization are essential for uncovering important properties of the underlying biological system. In addition, biological networks are not isolated, but there are a lot of different and complex interactions between them. Currently, there is not a database to store and explore this complexity, only a graph-based database that embraces relationships as a core aspect of its data model is able to store, process, and query connections efficiently. Therefore, analyzing biological networks with graph concepts provides us the opportunity to model a network of thousands of interacting components and gives us clues about how their organization and connection influences their function and dynamic responses. Here we present BioNetDB, a storage engine to work with biological networks using a NoSQL graph database. BioNetDB integrates relevant biological network information from well-known data sources and provides access to this data through a comprehensive RESTful web services API or using the command line interface.

La organización y estrategia docente que seguimos, desde el comienzo del nuevo plan de estudios del grado de Medicina en la Universidad de Córdoba, en la enseñanza práctica de la Histología Médica ha ido modificándose desde la realización de experiencias piloto iniciadas en el curso 2005-06 hasta el momento actual. Se presentan y se justifican las diferentes actividades prácticas que actualmente venimos desarrollando (práctica de laboratorio, introducción al diagnóstico histológico, sesiones de microscopía y prácticas de diagnóstico diferencial), la estrategia y metodología docente que se lleva a cabo para conseguir el máximo de eficacia en el aprendizaje y los sistemas de evaluación aplicados para cada una de las actividades. Presentamos los resultados obtenidos en la valoración –grado de satisfacción–realizada por parte de los alumnos en los dos últimos cursos académicos y para las dos asignaturas de Histología Médica (I y II) que configuran esta disciplina en nuestro plan de estudios.

Convenio específico de colaboración entre AUIP, Universidad de las Ciencias Informáticas (UCI) de Cuba, Universidad de Granada (UGR), Universidad de Sevilla (US) de España, mayo del 2015., Debido a la relevancia que tienen desde los marcos sociales y cognitivos, los procesos de interacción y satisfacción del estudiante universitario, como factor decisivo en el desarrollo de las actividades de aprendizaje, el eje vertebrador del presente trabajo gira sobre el mismo, y más concretamente sobre la interacción multimedia y colaborativa a través de las herramientas de anotaciones sobre contenidos multimedia. En este sentido, las anotaciones de vídeo son un factor decisivo a la hora de desarrollar las dinámicas de interacción. Desde este estudio, se plantea a las herramientas tecnológicas como las mejores aliadas a la hora de realizar estudios sobre la interacción. Como nexo de unión, entre ambos ámbitos, en este estudio se sitúa la satisfacción, pues diversos estudios sostienen que la satisfacción de herramientas y servicios tecnológicos, suelen ser subcategorías de los estudios de satisfacción de los usuarios. En base a estas premisas, este estudio tiene como objetivo analizar la interacción y satisfacción de los estudiantes a través de las herramientas de anotaciones basadas en contenidos multimedia en el proceso formativo. Para dar respuesta a este objetivo, se plantea una investigación experimental, con un diseño cuasi experimental de grupos no equivalente con pretest y postest con un enfoque cuantitativo de carácter explicativo-correlacional, utilizando para el análisis pruebas paramétricas y no paramétricas. En este sentido, se han utilizado la U Mann-Whitney para las variables dicotómicas y la H de Kruskal Wallis para las de más de dos categorías, análisis descriptivos de los datos, contraste de medias y el análisis de contenido. En lo que respecta a los instrumentos de medición utilizados, el cuestionario. El primero se ha diseñado ad-hoc para medir variables personales, el internacional de actividad física para medir variables relativas a la actividad físico deportiva. El de evaluación de actividades, este cuestionario, está compuesto por un total de 35 ítems distribuidos en seis dimensiones, el análisis se centra en tres tipos de tareas de orden superior: de la Taxonomía de Bloom, se ha utilizado el cuestionario SUSE para medir la satisfacción y aspectos técnicos de herramientas en la web, que cuenta con un total de 22 ítems agrupados en cuatro dimensiones. Además, se ha utilizado el de opinión del alumnado sobre la docencia de su profesorado, que cuenta con un total de 20 items, agrupados en tres dimensiones. El análisis cuantitativo de contenido, se ha desarrollado durante los cursos académicos (2017/2018 y 2018/2019), contando con un total de 438 anotaciones. El estudio se ha llevado a cabo en Cuba, y se ha contado con una muestra representativa de la población estudiada (asumiendo un error muestral del .05), con un total de 146 participantes del grupo de actividad física terapéutica de la Universidad de las Ciencias Informáticas. Se ha utilizado el programa estadístico SPSS v.22.0, para los análisis descriptivos y comparativos. En cuanto a los resultados descriptivos, se concluye que se ha aportado una descripción detallada de las variables personales de los estudiantes del grupo estudiado, así como el perfil físico-deportivo que tienen dichos participantes, de entre los cuales se puede destacar que el nivel de actividad físico deportiva es superior en el grupo experimental, en relación con el grupo de control. En relación a las actividades grupales, la satisfacción del estudiante en el proceso formativo y la opinión del alumnao sobre el profesorado, hay efectos en el tratamiento experimental, incluso en el grupo control, pero son diferentes los resultados. En el pretest y postest hay diferencias estadísticamente significativas en los grupos control y experimental. En relación al análisis cuantitativo de contenido, los resultados muestran cierta tendencia creciente de la calidad y cantidad de anotaciones sobre el vídeo y anotaciones respondiendo a otra anotación en función de la exigencia de la tarea. La investigación sobre interacción y satisfacción del estudiante universitario resulta estratégica de cara al cambio en educación, reconocer el fenómeno de la interacción en el marco de actividades educativas, permite una aproximación más cercana y detallada a las herramientas de anotaciones de vídeo, como herramientas que promueven la interacción., Due to the relevance of social and cognitive frameworks, the processes of interaction and satisfaction of university students, as a decisive factor in the development of learning activities, the backbone of this work revolves around it, and more specifically on the multimedia and collaborative interaction through the tools of annotation on multimedia content. In this sense, video annotations are a decisive factor in developing the dynamics of interaction. From this study, the technological tools are proposed as the best allies when carrying out studies on the interaction. As a nexus between both areas, this study focuses on satisfaction, since several studies maintain that satisfaction with technological tools and services are usually subcategories of user satisfaction studies. Based on these premises, this study aims to analyze the interaction and satisfaction of students through annotation tools based on multimedia content in the training process. In order to respond to this objective, an experimental research is proposed, with a quasi-experimental design of non-equivalent groups with pre-test and post-test with a quantitative approach of explanatory-correlational character, using for the analysis parametric and non-parametric tests. In this sense, we have used the U Mann-Whitney for dichotomous variables and the H Kruskal Wallis for those of more than two categories, descriptive analysis of data, contrast of means and content analysis. With regard to the measuring instruments used, the questionnaire. The first one has been designed ad-hoc to measure personal variables, the international of physical activity to measure variables related to the sport physical activity. As for the descriptive results, it is concluded that a detailed description of the personal variables of the students of the studied group has been provided, as well as the physical-sports profile that these participants have, from which it can be emphasized that the level of physical sports activity is higher in the experimental group, in relation to the control group. In relation to the group activities, the satisfaction of the student in the formative process and the opinion of the student about the teaching staff, there are effects in the experimental treatment, even in the control group, but the results are different. In the pre-test and post-test there are statistically significant differences in the control and experimental groups. In relation to the quantitative analysis of content, the results show a certain increasing trend in the quality and quantity of the video annotations and annotations responding to another annotation depending on the task demand. The research on interaction and satisfaction of university students is strategic for the change in education. High-profile genomic variation projects like the 1000 Genomes project or the Exome Aggregation Consortium, are generating a wealth of human genomic variation knowledge which can be used as an essential reference for identifying disease-causing genotypes. However, accessing these data, contrasting the various studies and integrating those data in downstream analyses remains cumbersome. The Human Genome Variation Archive (HGVA) tackles these challenges and facilitates access to genomic data for key reference projects in a clean, fast and integrated fashion. HGVA provides an efficient and intuitive web-interface for easy data mining, a comprehensive RESTful API and client libraries in Python, Java and JavaScript for fast programmatic access to its knowledge base. HGVA calculates population frequencies for these projects and enriches their data with variant annotation provided by CellBase, a rich and fast annotation solution. HGVA serves as a proof-of-concept of the genome analysis developments being carried out by the University of Cambridge together with UK's 100 000 genomes project and the National Institute for Health Research BioResource Rare-Diseases, in particular, deploying open-source for Computational Biology (OpenCB) software platform for storing and analyzing massive genomic datasets.
